Compact IV Frozen on T-Mobile Splash Screen - HELP

Anyone able to assist. I have searched the forum.
After my compact froze I did a soft reset only to see it hang on the T-Mobile splash screen (white background, pink dots). The ROM details do not even appear in the bottom right hand corner.
I have upgraded my ROM with Hard-SPL, a Radio ROM and Dutty's 1.8 ROM but that was weeks ago.
Not even a Hard-Reset sorts it out.
Cannot see how the new ROM would be causing the problem as it has worked for a few weeks.
Luckily followed all the instructions and have 1.40 Olinex Hard-SPL on the phone. Just need to wait for home so I can plug it into my laptop. What I do from that point on will be the subject of a further search of this board later.
Any assistance?

Since you already have Hard-SPL, try first flashing a stock ROM.

Unfortunately I cannot get my Compact to sync with my PC in order to add a stock ROM. As I am frozen on the T-Mobile screen the Mobile Device Center does not connect to the Compacy.
Are there any work arounds?

Oh well back it goes to T-Mobile with the hope that they do not identify that the ROM has changed.

Happened to me before as well.
Start your Phone in bootloader mode. Means you hold down the Volume down button while soft resetting. Then you get to the red, green, blue, white screen. In the bottom it says "serial". once you connect to the PC it switches to "usb" and now you can flash ANY ROM you like. I replaced mine with the same ROM I had before....
Don't know what happened to cause this problem. But I got it solved that way.
Let me know if this worked....

I was able to get the USB connection to work but after reloading the ROM the phone has gone off and stayed off. Can't get any splash screen now.

But you were able to completely reflash the ROM?
Or did it stop along the way?

Did not stop along the way. Went to 100% and was met by the finished screen on the PC. However the Compact does not turn in now.

So you try to turn it on but nothing happens?
Did you try hooking the phone to the loading cable and then turn it on? Maybe a problem with the bettery?
Besides that I got no idea right now.
Which ROM did you reflash? The same you used before?

Tried hooking it up to the loading cable, the charger and still no luck.
Have no idea why it will not start-up. Do not even get the white circular light when plugged into the charger.

Yep done all that. Compact still dead. Changed ROM about 3 weeks ago, no problems just stopped working altogether. Was able to connect it to the PC to update ROM again but now nothing.
Not sure how having Hard-SPL on the phone is gonna help when the thing wont turn on.

Here wot fella.... Yesterday i called t-mobile cause my mda was running kinda hot for some reason, With no effort the lady said it shouldn't be getting that hot (like she could feel the heat over the phone lol) "i'm going to send you a replacement for tomorrow morning" Today, So me thinking a refurbished phone and no screen protector, i asked if they could send me a screen protector, No she said, i'm sending you a brand new phone "in the box" so all the bits will be there.......
Brilliant i get a new mobile..... Here is the best bit....
UPS turns up this morning with a brand new phone.. the guy asks me for the old phone ONLY, didn't take back old batt, headset...etc put it in a bag and away he went......
So i get a brand new phone (BOXED) and get to keep all the old accessories.
So the moral of the story is..... RMA your mobile, tell t-mobile its over heating and pray too god you get the same woman on the phone that i did...!

P.s..... Out of curiosity, Which cooked rom was you using...!

I used Dutty's 1.8, but It is not a problem with the ROM, I'm sure of that.

Thats really wiered. Looks like there is more broken than the ROM. Did you try taking out the battery and keeping it out for a little time.
Try to turn on the phone without the battery in it - so all the power in the condensers etc. will be gone.
Keep the battery separated from the phone for a couple hours and then try it again.
I was having the trouble back then, that the more often I tried to turn the phone on while it was broken it turned off itself even quicker. after I left it without touching it an hour it took longer to turn off itself again.

P.P.S and remember so say its the bottom part off the phone or they may try palm you off with its "the battery"...!

Called them and put on my nicest charm with a young lady. She actually read out a T-Mobile notice release that said there was a known fault with the phones over-heating during charge and large downloads. It said that customers should be told that it is safe and a software update coming out soon would sort it out.
I told here the phone no longer worked and she said that they would replace but I should keep all accesories and the battery. I said that as it doesn't turn on it could be the battery and she agreed to a FULL replacement.
They are sending it to my work on Monday and will take the old one away.
Thanks for the advice, was really worried they would want it back for testing BEFORE sending out a new one and they may find my Custom ROM

I left the battery overnight but still no luck.
I am pretty certain it'saphone fault now and absolutely nothing to do with ROM's. T-Mobile are now thankfully taking it back.

Help required, possibly bricked?

Hi all,
Hopefully you can help me, i have just installed the latest radio and Modaco ROM (this isn't the first time i've did this).
After installation i got what looked like an image of a drive and an arrow, i assume this meant it couldnt find the boot image. I then tried a couple of times to reboot holding the home key but now i cant even switch it back on... even on charge the light isn't coming on
Any help would be gratefully appreciated

When the arrow and drive comes up, you're meant to leave your phone well alone, it means it's flashing something (usually something important!)
If your phone doesn't turn on, sounds like you've made a full hard brick, nothing you can do but see if you can get it repaired.

Sometimes, if the Hero does not switch on, taking the battery out and reinserting it might reboot it. But if the charge light is not coming on, then it might not work. Worth a try though.
Did you get the phone through a network? If it is under warranty, you can just play dumb and return the phone. They probably won't even know that you have modded the phone. My battery stopped holding charge and would not switch on unless it was plugged in to the mains. When I returned it, they changed my battery and the main board!?! When I called them up, the service centre told me "there was some dust on the main board, so we changed it".
Not smart enough to figure out that I had rooted the phone and was running Modaco at the time.

[Q] Sudden Hardbrick

My phone hardbricked for no apparent reason, and I'm not sure what to do. Battery was at about 50% yesterday, it turned off and wouldn't turn back on. I did a soft reset, and it turned on. I watched it go as far as the logo and then had to walk away. When I came back, the phone was black again. And it hasn't turned on since. No logo, nothing. I've tried a soft reset, plus multiple other reset combinations. I plugged my phone to the computer, I get the normal connecting 'ding', but then it says that driver's device cannot be found.
I'm running stock firmware, no mods. No history of battery issues (except the normal slow decline). I've had the phone for a year and three weeks, so I'm out of warranty too. I called T-mobile and they said it sounds like a hardbrick and are willing to switch it out for $20 since I'm out of warranty. I can't do that since I'm out of the country for the next 1.5 months, so I was wondering if anyone out there had any suggestions on what to do or why this even happened?

does it respond to plugging in to charge? im not 100% but if its responding at all when it gets plugged in its not hardbricked only softbricked so go from there. when i hardbricked my first s2 due to a corrupt kernel file i flashed it would not react to anything at all. complete dead weight

U stated that when u plugged it into ur computer u got a ding then says driver device not found. Sounds to me that ur not in a hard birck when I bricked mine I didn't even get that. Check out the link it well help.

Thanks for everyone's help. I ended up sending in my phone to a Samsung service center (while I was in Korea). They confirmed that it is a hardbrick. They opened it up and said it looked like there was a short and it fried the motherboard. They couldn't tell me what caused the short--they said maybe some water got into the phone through the charging port, but I know that isn't true... I had it plugged into an old power strip and maybe that's why? :crying:
Either way, I was told my only option was to get the motherboard replaced which would be $200. I told them no thanks and that I'd just get a replacement phone from T-mobile for $20.

I know my story sounds unlikely, but it's the truth. Isn't this forum around to help fellow users? I have no reason to lie here. I actually take very good care of my phone and (after almost losing a laptop to a water spill) am extremely cautious about liquids around my electronic devices. You don't have to believe me since I'll get my phone replaced regardless. I just thought I would share the information in case someone else ends up facing the same problem.
Even now, the only cause I can come up with still is the old power strip frying the motherboard. *shrug* I would love to hear any other explanations.

i have bootloader unlocked with root access on a stock rom and i wanted a custom kernal so i got ktoonez kernal and installed the zip through cwm recovery and it got an error and it aborted so i tried to reboot and phone wont do anything. no led no vibration on power or off button no nothing. yes it was dumb I KNOW i just need help not someone to tell me how dumb i am... please help i didnt know it was for gs4 untill it was too late PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! btw i bought this phone 7 days ago on amazon so if i cant find a fix can i return this? ok so now i plugged it in my computer and its asking me for qshusb_dload WHAT DO I DO!!!???????????

did you try flash ftf file using flashtool to fix?

just re-flash with SUS (sony update service), your phone will be back on stock.

From what you are describing, your phone doesnt go into fastboot mode.
Can you confirm that?
What happens when you plug your phone to the computer while Flashtool is loaded?

when i plug in the phone it asked for the drivers and flashtool does not recognize the phone I ONLY HAVE 2 USB PORTS AND WHEN I INSTALLED THE DRIVER THE FIRST TIME IT TOLD ME IT WASNT INSTALLED PROPERLY! now everytime i plug it in on that port it does nothing but beep on the computer but nothing shos up anywhere no flashtool no nothing! now when i plug it in in the other port it asks me for the drivers. i cant go into flashboot or fastboot no lights on phone no NOTHING! i no my phone is getting charged but i cant see any lights or hear any sound. i also can confirm the power button does turn the phone on and off but i just dont see any thing and no there is nothing wrong with my screen.

cant do that phone doesnt got into fastboot or fashmode but idc anymore im packing it up and shipping it back tomorrow because its defective.

thanks but my phone doesnt do anything. i know how to get it into flashboot and fastboot but it doesnt do anything. i tried every method but the only thing i found was that i need linux and im too lazy to download that on my windows computer and besides i wouldnt know what to do on linux since ive never used it before. i need a certain app on linux to get my phone working again and so far the only phone that was actually recovered using this method was a htc sensation. thanks again guys for trying to help but ill just have to return it and say it was defective....i got it 7 days ago do you think they will know i flashed the wrong kernal if the phone doesnt respond to anything not even connecting it to a usb port? it looks Perfect so do you think they'll just throw it away and refund or something? well im getting a gs4 now that i know its fast and when i say fast i mean able to play ppsspp smooth and nulldce smooth.

I dont think Amazon would be able to tell anything especially if the phone doesn't boot or do anything. Probably later on, I'm sure they will return it to Sony. Good luck with your new phone.. I personally don't like the GS4. Love my ZL.... Besides everyone on the street has a Samsung, you don't see many people with Sony phones. It sets you apart from the crowd. They are also really easy to flash and you can pretty much do anything with them.

dude you think just like me and the reason why i even had a zl is because of that reason. i love this phone more than the htc evo 3d i had and it was hard enough choosing between the iphone 5 htc one gs4 and the xperia z. i wanted a iphone 5 because it looked nice but that phone is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO BORING! its the same as every other iphone and the htc only had beats and thats basically the only thing i liked. i wanted a gs4 but i knew everyone would have that plastic phone. i now had to choose between the z and zl and i chose zl over z because it had an ir sensor and i THOUGHT it had a removable back but i was wrong. i like the all glass z and the water proof but i never got a phone wet so there really was no point in me getting it unless i knew i was just clumsy. i thought the zl could go past 1.5ghz and when i saw a youtube video of another phone going past its max ghz i thought ok maybe i just need a new kernal because stock wasnt cutting it but look where that got me. well thanks again and i hope you all NEVER have to go through what i went through.

SOLVED: HELP NEEDED!!! Note 2 wont turn on. BadgeProvider and Samsung has stopped!!!!

As the title reads my Note 2 will not turn on. It will not go into recovery mode. I have 5 batteries and none of them are working. Yesterday I got 2 weird messages that "BadgeProvider" and "Samsung" has stopped. The phone started acting weird by not letting me use anything but the notification bar. I couldn't even turn it off using the power button. I removed the battery and reinserted the battery a couple of times and still it didn't work only letting me use the notification bar. Finally it started working for some random reason and I restarted the phone and all was well.
I'm so use to having 5 batteries that I did not have the phone on the charger last night and it died. Now the phone will not turn on at all. Not into recovery mode. Not normal mode. It is totally unresponsive. Tried rapidly touching the contacts with the battery contact and nothing. What can I do to get my phone working????????????

Also to add to this, yesterday when I was taking the phone's battery out and in the phone would start booting by itself. Could this be a power button issue? I've only had the phone for about 10 months and never dropped it without the otterbox defender series on it.

From that statement above, having the otter box doesn't mean you'll be protected against drops. Yes it'll protect the phone but still suffered inside the device! I had a friend crack his screen on the corner, with an otter box on with one drop!
Now back to the phone:
Since you can get into recovery have you tried a factory data reset to see if that fixes your problem..

I plan to read all responses as soon as I can because I'm in dire need of help. The phone WILL NOT turn back on. The first day I had the problem it gave me the "BadgeProvider" has stopped working and also the "Samsung" has stopped working error messages. The only thing that was responsive was responsive was my notification bar. I could slide it down turn wifi on and off etc from there but when I hit the setting button on the notification bar it would not open up the settings immediately and there was maybe a 2 minute delay (I walked away from the phone and came back to it) and it would finally open it up but giving me the 2 error messages "BadgeProvider" and "Samsung" has stopped working. Read online that clearing the BadgeProvider data under "Application Manager->All->BadgeProvider" would fix this issue so thats what I did. Wallah it worked fine.....fell asleep without my phone on the charger and it died but I have 5 batteries so who cares. Woke up noticed the phone was dead then I swapped batteries (OEM Samsung battery). Tried to turn it on and it will not turn on. Tried putting it on the charger (even though it should be a freshly charged battery) and the red charging light will not even come on. Tried to boot into recovery mode and still unresponsive.
As of now I CANNOT boot into revovery mode, turn on the phone in any way, get the charging light to come on when plugged in (I have 5 other batteries plus an external battery charger so its definitely not truely dead battery wise), I cannot get the phone to do anything what so ever. Tried removing external storage from it, tried removing sim, tried 5 different fully charged batteries and nothing.
Anyone that can give me some insight on what the problem may be and a possible solution I would greatly appreciate it.

True, true.....Or, they post the same question in five forums....lol.
What do you guys think about using Odin? Can he get into the phone if it won't go to recovery? Can you install TWRP or CWM, they may automatically set the phone to restart in recovery mode? Just some thoughts....I am not a dev., just an avid user.

Also if it helps any, I have had my phone restart by itself randomly way before rooting it. After rooting I still had the restarts just as I have always had (maybe once every 3 weeks). Rooting it gave me no errors at all and it has been working fine for months being rooted. Not sure if letting you guys know of the restarting issue is going to help anything but I'm telling you all I know to try to debug this issue.

So there is no power at all, not even a loop. I had a similar problem with a LePan tab, but when I plugged it into my laptop via USB, it would start.....Sorry. Sounds hardware....

I did read the whole post, hence my reply. Towards the end of his post, he says that the phone won't turn on at all. Maybe you should read the whole post.

Thanks man. I'm thinking it's hardware too. Herd of motherboard problems early on with this phone that would cause it to randomly shut off and not come back on.
Has ANYONE had any experience with samsung repair centers???? Do they care if the device is rooted even if its a known hardware issue?

I've read a few people having that problem with the phone randomly turning off.
[Q] did you get the phone New or used? If its used you have a lot of people out there selling devices with problems that they couldn't fix! FYI

Does it get recognized by the PC?
When you plug it in? If so then you should be able to try the Kies recovery!
If not then kies won't help..

I brought it directly from AT&T new. And nope. Tried pluggin it into the PC and not recognized. Tried Kies and Odin and neither had any affect. The phone is just completely unresponsive now.
Thinking about trying to take it to Samsung before AT&T so I can try to miss the deductible.

Remove the battery ...then plug the device in to USB connection with your PC...
Then attempt to boot the phone into download mode..
If successful ....then immediately push the rooted stock rom from Mr. Robinsons thread in the development section...
If no download mode exists while attempting boot with the battery removed ...then the likelihood of device damage is high...
This of course does not rule out the possibility of a stuck power button ...but that hardware failure generally presents a repeated and uncontrolled loop which in this case we are not seeing...
Odin mode failure generally means a defective or damaged Chipset...g

Thanks. Just tried it but still doesn't work. I'm going to try to bring it to Samsung repair center today. Hopefully they can fix/replace it very very soon....TODAY :crying: . Will update the thread of any useful info that I receive.

Ok since you want to take it in to Sammy. And you did state you got it New from the AT&T store. Then you can take it into one of the DSC. (Device support center)

Got a new phone. It was a painless process. Just walk in play dumb and talk as least as possible. They never asked a question about rooting. I'm guessing because I seemed like an idiot . Going to let it do all the updates it can then going to root it tomorrow using CFroot.

Glad you got a new device ..and for the record ...I personally believe you had a bad device from day 1...
Normally I would frown on anyone taking back a device that has been modded ...but I can see no evidence in your case that indicates your doing anything that would break your chipset ...
And I know that others feel the same way ...
You tried your guts out ...and the device just didn't act properly from day 1...
Please place a "Solved" in the thread title if you don't mind ...
That way ...everyone knows the issue has been corrected ..
