Those specs you posted are generic, not complete and hardly means anything
except for the bands and speeds. 95% of the specs are missing.
Most likely for a good reason........
I have seen so many posts from people who buy FAKE name brand phones and
expect it to be the real thing only to find out the OS is not even an android. LOL
Good luck!

Help Please! Will the galaxy nexus work with Mobilicity?

Hey Everyone,
I recently pre-ordered the Galaxy Nexus from Bell on contract for three years thinking that Wind and Mobilicty are CDMA. (I know, I'm crazy). I have just figured out that they are in fact a GSM network. My question is that if I changed my order from bell from a three year contract to unlocked, will it work on Mobilicity's service? I know there probably won't be 4G speeds but if I can get a plan with unlimited calling and data for $17.50 per month instead of the 500mb and 200 minutes im getting with Bell for $50 a month, I'd rather get it unlocked.
Note: If you say it will work, please provide some evidence of some sort, e.g. some specs that state that the Galaxy Nexus will work with Mobilicity's network
Thanks so much everyone, and if you could reply as fast as possible it would be extremely appreciated as the promotion that they have for $17.50 might be over really soon so I'll buy it right away.
-Mosh
Galaxy Nexus is penta-band 3G phone...so the HSPA version will work on that network.
You're ok with it,enjoy the phone.

Are you sure? I don't mind having slow speeds (HSPA) but my budget is really low and I really want to make sure that the phone will work with Mobilicity out of the box
Yes it will work. Relax

Thanks, but could anyone point me to specifications for the galaxy nexus which tells me what frequencies or radios they use? I'm really bad at this kind of stuff
Thanks again all
Even though you would have a hard time finding any GSM/UMTS/HSPA network it doesn't work on you could always check the list on Wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UMTS_networks#Americas
It says Mobilicity uses the same frequencies as T-Mobile US, a frequency that is both listed in the official specs and is something some people is already using it on without issues.

Compared to HSPA+?
Edit: So the Galaxy Nexus works with 1700 band IV (AWS)? http://imgur.com/NJrCK
Edit2: So, according to http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_nexus-4219.php, the galaxy nexus has the following:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
So Mobilicity definitely supports this?
Edit 3: According to a Wikipedia page on Mobilicity:
"Network
The company also has a cell-site sharing agreement with Bell Mobility to share cell tower space in all Mobilicity zones[12]. The network uses the UMTS IV frequency band, also known as AWS, to provide UMTS (with HSPA) service[13]. Using this band, user equipment transmits at 1710–1755 MHz, and receives at 2110–2155 MHz. AWS is the same frequency as Wind Mobile and Videotron in Canada and T-Mobile USA. Like WIND, Mobilicity does not have a 2G, EDGE, GPRS GSM Network.
Mobilicity's network is compatible with the same handsets and devices as Wind Mobile and Videotron networks, and UMTS handsets and devices offered by T-Mobile USA.

So is the Galaxy Nexus a UMTS handset that works with T-Mobile USA?
Thanks again guys, sorry for being a complete noob

I already said so, yes. Should be no problem. My mention of T-Mobile US was only if you wanted to know actual users who are already running it on those frequencies.
Yes, it's a UMTS handset that works with T-Mobile USA. I don't know how I can make it any clearer.
EDIT: Well, to clarify it a bit more I can say that HSPA (HSDPA and HSUPA) HSPA+ are improvements upon UMTS. In other words, every HSPA device is a UMTS device.

Perfect, thanks so much!Also, according to other websites it has UTMS 1700/2100 or HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 or Network (3G) HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 so basically it will work for sure right?
Sorry for repeatedly asking the same thing, I just want to be sure. One more yes, and I'm going to change the order from 3 year term to unlocked

How many different ways do we have to say this? It has quadband GSM and pentaband 3G, if you put in a North American SIM in the phone, it will work.

Was it a mistake bringing this phone to Israel?

I live in Israel. I used to live in the US. Last time I was in the US I bought this phone and brought it over. I did my research beforehand and knowingly purchased the phone assuming I would have full compatible with Israeli service providers...
Now, I'm not so sure anymore. I just tried the phone today.. maybe 5 hours of use. Still have the default OS installed. No root or anything. The signal seems to fluctuate going between Edge and higher speed networks.
Here's what it says about Cellcom on wikipedia:
Cellcom eventually sought to replace the 850 MHz TDMA frequencies it owns with standard 900 MHz GSM frequencies but Pelephone and Partner (Orange) petitioned the Ministry of Communications to deny this for technical reasons. This put Cellcom at a disadvantage since though most of its users had converted to GSM, they were not able to make use of the lower frequency's better in-building penetration and greater cell reach.
With its entry into 3G wireless services Cellcom demoed the first mobile video call in Israel. Since the beginning of 2006, Cellcom began deploying a 3G UMTS-2100 network nationwide which by the end of 2007 covered than 87% of the population. Cellcom was the first in Israel to launch an HSDPA network (also called "Generation 3.5") nationwide. In 2011, Cellcom began to deploy UMTS services in the 850 MHz band, employing unused capacity in that frequency range since it had very few TDMA customers remaining. The Israeli Ministry of Communications has approved Cellcom's plan to shut down the TDMA-850 network on 31 December 2011.

I just put the SIM card back in my old international Galaxy 2 i9100T and it'll fluctuate between HSDPA: 8 and HSPA+:15. Also it displays an H icon in the status bar (I don't think Resurrection rom is capable of displaying an H+).
Anyway, I'm going to put the SIM back in the Galaxy 3 t999. It now fluctuates between EDGE: 2, HSPAP: 15, HSPA: 11, and UMTS: 3. The signal is shifty and only displays a 3G at the top, no H like the international Galaxy 2.
Here's what wikipedia lists as the differences between the two models of the Galaxy 3 (standard international i9300 and my t-mobile t999):
Model GT-I9300;
2G networks: 850, 900, 1,800, 1,900 MHz GSM / GPRS / EDGE
3G networks: 850, 900, 1,900, 2,100 MHz UMTS / HSPA+
no 4G of course
max speed: 21 Mbit/s HSPA+

So what do you think is going on??? Doesn't the t-mobile Galaxy 3 t999 support all the networks that Israel currently has operating???
I took my T999 to Israel about a week after buying it in the States.
While vacationing there, I got an Orange SIM with a local number and a 5GB plan.
Everything was working fine. My phone was on 3G almost everywhere in the country, and it rarely dropped below three bars.
Is your phone unlocked? Could it be a Cellcom problem? Try borrowing a friend's Orange SIM and see if it works any better.
Yea it's unlocked. Even despite the speed issue I'm starting to think maybe I should have gotten the international version, there's nowhere near as much development for this version. Maybe I can trade?

[Q] Understanding carriers network bands

The article below came up today explaining how T-Mobile network improvements will make it possible for canadian iPhone users to not only have to rely on AT&T when roaming in the US.
http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/03/26/f...e-how-t-mobiles-lte-network-affects-canadians
Looking at the specs of our i747(m) from this link below, the device supports the following bands :
2G - GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G - HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G - LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 2100
Now, where does AWS stand in all of this and if a carrier rolls out a non-AWS LTE network, what other standards/protocols are available ?
What about UMTS?
Moreover, why are our phones called "pentaband phones" when, from the list above, the phone actually support 9 bands ( 4 2G bands + 3 3G bands + 2 LTE bands = 9 bands total)
Trying to make sense of all this but it just doesn't add up
Thanks in advance

[Q] I9082L Change 3g Freqency

Hi,
Just brought a I9082L in Thailand.
Soon i will be moving to The Netherlands but the I9082L supports 850mhz 3g wile i need 900Mhz 3g over there.
Can i just flash the stock I9082 rom/modem to get 900Mhz or is it a hardware limitation?
Thanks for ur help

From what I know i9082 supports both 850 and 900 upto 2G as well as 3G. But the 3G support is restricted to SIM slot 1.
SIM1
Cellular Networks: GSM 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS 850/900/1900/2100
Data Networks: GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+
SIM2
Cellular Networks: GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Data Networks: GPRS, EDGE
The "L" variant might have a restriction on 900MHz, but that's something you will to experiment with the modem of i9082.
Flashing i9082's modem on i9082L will do one of two things, either your 3G network will recognize the 900 frequency or it'll stop your 3G entirely. So it would probably be best if you keep your original i9082L firmware/modem with you for just in case.

Thanks for your response, I flashed the I9082 (I9082XXUBMF2 and I9082XXUBMJ3 Indian Version) modem but both resulted in a bootloop. flashed the old one back.
Never had a smartphone with sush restriction. a friend of mine has the normal I9082 not the L version and he is not able to receive 850mhz here.
Looks like many samsung “budget” phones have a 3g freq lock to 850 or 900. I hope its just the software and that a fix/workaround for that will come someday like they had for the I9000.

Does SGH-T989 supports 4G?

i m wondering that does out beloved phone(SGH-t989) supports 4G.
i know i should search web before posting here but trust me i surfed alot for the clarification.
i'm posting question because when i was using stock rom the logo says(displays) 4G symbol and now this day when i put my 4G sim in slot i do not get network. on top it, my friend said, in cyanogenmod 4g is not supported so i want to know that is really our phone supports 4G or that cyanogenmod don't let me go into 4G world ?

nope. HSPA+ is technically a form of "4G", but not the most current LTE (which, i assume, youre referring to)
