hi .,,. !!
i am new to rooting
recently i rooted my note 2 ., but as official update has been released , now i want to update my phone to official jb 4.3 but i cant as it says that my device is modified,.,.
please help me i getting jb 4.3 update,,. my binary count is 5
can anyone telll proper unroot guide and getting warranty back ,.., both ,.,. i have researched a bit and found that tingle away is highly risky
i dont want to loose my phone,.,.
i am extremely scared,.,.
please help !!!
why the hell you root at first if you scared to take the risk.
since you already root, just instal triangle away..and reset the counter..then flash stock rom..thats all
there so many guide out there..just search for it.
btw, flashing with odin is more risky than reset the counter with triangle away.

1st use the triangle away..after done reset, triangle away will give you option to reboot or go to download mode. You click go to download mode and then flash stock rom.
If you choose reboot, the counter will raise again.

as i have read that if you have custome recovery than your binery count will remain 1 and not come to 0 !!
ouhh forgot to tell you if you have custom kernel like perseus installed, you can reset directly in the application itself.
if not,the application will take you to triangle away special mode..something like that..then you can reset it there

and since you already flash official 4.3..u can't either downgrade to 4.1.2 or flashing any custom rom, kernel and recovery without triggered the knox..
if you said you wanna note 3 features before, i will recommend you DN3 rom..thats why make a research 1st mate,,do not blindly flashing.

of course you can install custom rom..
its your phone, all the risk is responsible by you anyway.
I also want to return to stock after custom ROM too. I am a little scared of using Triangle away. Seems very complicated and I always mess somting up when flashing.

The counter is already 2 and was wondering if i install a custom rom can i then run triangle away to reset counter without messing up rom?
Cheers
Yes, you need to download the stock modified bootloader and reset it with triangle away. However, your phone will still see the rom as custom.
Having no modified counter, but a custom rom it's pointless!!

Can you help me dr.ketan.
I really need to know exactly what to do with triangle away on the note 2 please?
OMG
Ok with CWM you can't reset it unless you have supporting kernel and play store version of Triangle away
Simple way is flash stock recovery and kernel (if you have stock) then use triangle away to rest counter.

OMG, you having older ROM, which have SDS bug, and it can brick your device any time.
Just follow steps as soon as possible, i am updating here in 5 min
Edit :
1.Download this latest ROM from hongkong.
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/197140824/cf75403/N7105ZHDMB1_N7105ZZHDMB1_TGY.zip.html
OR you can download any other ROM but only released in 2013
2.Extract ROM and flash using Odin. If after flashing it stuck at samsung logo, just reboot to recovery and wipe cache and data
3.Root with method 1 in guide post #2
4.Use triangle away to reset counter
5.Hope everything will be fine, and stay away from these flahing stuff untill you have complete knowledge about it.
Thanks mate will do.
Should I then back up efs again?
I was also going to flash clean rom as my custom rom will I be able to do this using cwm?
You already backup, then no need to repeat. just keep backup file at safe place on PC/Laptop or other safe media
---------- Post added at 12:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:45 PM ----------
Remember after reseting counter, once reboot device normally and then check counter in download mode, not with Triangle away application itself.
Ok sure.
But if I use option 1 in your thread to root it says I cant install custom roms from zip using cwm.
I have the s3 and do it that way.
Man if you want to use CWM then forget reseting counter.
OR find a custom kernel which support reseting counter on every boot.
---------- Post added at 12:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:50 PM ----------
On your S3
reboot device to download mode with combo of three button (vol down + home + power) then volume up to enter in download mode
Here you can see custom binary count in Rt upper corner, check it is 'No'
If you reboot to download mode with some short cut, yu can't see flash counter.
Ok if I choose option 2 and install custom rom is there still a way to use triangle away to reset counter if I need it for warranty?
No, having CWM itself will void warranty.
before sending to warranty you needs to replace with stock one.

Hi, Dalanik, thanks for replying. I have already downloaded the 4.3 deodexed ROM, and also have the stock 4.3 ROM from sammobile.com. but the problem is that I already have installed the stock 4.3 on the day it was released which has installed KNOX (which i later found out). And I do not know how to go about it.
I would need instructions and links to downloads that can help me remove it and proceed with installing the Deodexed ROM.
Or I also need to know will simply overwriting the stock ROM by Odin with the deodexed ROM, will the KNOX counter be void with me loosing warranty?
Thanks in advance. :highfive:

the patch not working with official 4.3..you will triggered knox when u flash it with odin...after that odin will failed when you try to downgrade to 4.1.2.
Thats why it is imposible to downgrade the bootloader.

You are just simply not reading the whole thread. You just read what you want. Mj5 is different from mk4. You can still downgrade and get rid of the mj5 bootloader but not the mk4. At least not yet. Right now you are stuck with that bootloader.

Well, you could always contact Samsung and demand that they revert YOUR device that they had NO RIGHT to lock down without your prior informed consent...
Thanks Floatingfatman
Floatingfatman, thanks... That's a thought hadn't come to my mind. I wonder what Samsung will say when i contact them and ask them to downgrade. I know for a fact that they use Odin too.. I said "look in to it", what I mean is that sam mobile say that if your upgrading stock make sure you DO tick the box but all the guides on here say avoid and DONT tick the box. Ive just flashed a rom with odin and did NOT tick the box but it was a dmg rom. I would not have thought the 4.3 roms need to alter any partition sizes so try it without repartitioning and if it has issues maybe try it with a repartition.

Are you running stock? A custom rom? Jave you flashed a stock image? If you have flashed a stock image and its not tje correct one then this could be why it wont update. Try flashing a stock 412 image from the carrier that provided the phone or just go straiight for the 4.3 image, getting stock 4.3 installed on your phone will activate the efuse with knox and you wont be able to downgrade after

My counter was set to 2 so I triangled away and turned off then flashed stock rom (pre rooted) and the counter was set to 1 but other bits had changed to official. I triangled away again with the new stock rom and recovery and triangle away worked this time, rebooting the phone which it didnt do before (I think) and when it rebooted it loaded a new screen id not seen before (in other words this time it was working properly - cant work correctly on custom roms I guess) after this time it reset everything properly. The option it gave me after it had reset the counters properly it gave me 2 options, 1 reboot, or 2 reboot into download mode which I chose no2. In download mode there were no counters or text or anything but after another reboot and then back into download mode the markers and counter were there all reset hope thats not too unclear :/
Oh dunno if rooting would cause that issue or not but maybe try unrooting before ota. The ota on my stock rom just searches and doesnt do anything. Upgrading to official 4.3 though I cannit recommend, I was going to upgrade to official 4.3 but I am not now, you cannot downgrade and my friend has a s4 and has upgraded his to official 4.3 mk9 (hes never rooted or anything that may tamoer with warranty) and hes quite annoyed with it, prooer laggy etc he wishes he hadnt bothered. I am hoping for arhd 20 to materialize but im noth bothering with the undowngradeable official now

Do you have stock recovery? If you have custom recovery that will cause the counter to hit 1

This is the thread I used. I chose the dmg1 from july 13th, I couldn't install an earlier one without messing with the bootloader because ive already upgraded to dmg. i believe I chose the deodexed option
Tbh mate, ive ran 4.3 for a bit and apart from a few small cosmetic changes theres nothing there thats going to improve your phone so unless your buying a Galaxy Gear theres no real point to it imo. Kitkat wont be long, ill give that a go when it turns up
Oh yeah and triangle away is riskey - you could brick your phone so unless your actually sending it back, I wouldn't bother about the counter numbers

You may need a knox free kernal, not sure. You can use Dr Ketans multitool v6 to root and remove knox if you have a custom recovery, or you can install the Xposed Installer (apk file) http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer and then install 'wanam xposed' from the module list. Click to remove knox in the security section of wanam module but i fear that option is just a cosmetic one. If you decide to use a custom recovery, use philz recovery (flash the tar file from odin using the pda tab) but dont flash v6 (has issues), use v5.15

ok thanks tony, and everything in on stock version in my phone
I just got another Note 2 with the darn 4.3 and KNOX!
If I just want to install philz and a SynergyROm for 4.3, must I root ??
Thx!
Here's what you do. ..
1. Odin a recovery of choice.
2. Flash Billiards412 Rom restore . This removes Knox but doesnt reset knox.
3. Odin a recovery again of your choice. Since it gets removed
4. Flash Synergy.

I got as far as step 2, falshing 412, with philz. Now its bootlooping....and I cant seem to do anything. Pulling the battery doesnt help, it just does the same bootloop sequence when battery is reinserted.

Yes one of the joys of the phone not being locked down tight. I have had multiple htc phones and they were a pain. This was my first samsung and i have to say it is easy.
Only thing is when flashing new roms you will wont to make sure to wipe/format internal sdcard. For more info check out the guide in general section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50335424 While titled as 4.3 and 4.4 the steps should be used for all rom installs. Although the back to stock method is not allways required.
