I'm new to the world of android customization and I do own a Galaxy note 2. I found this Note 3 Mod "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537186" that i want to install. I did download that file. Now how do I install that on my Note 2. Any help would be helpful.

Hi, Dalanik, thanks for replying. I have already downloaded the 4.3 deodexed ROM, and also have the stock 4.3 ROM from sammobile.com. but the problem is that I already have installed the stock 4.3 on the day it was released which has installed KNOX (which i later found out). And I do not know how to go about it.
I would need instructions and links to downloads that can help me remove it and proceed with installing the Deodexed ROM.
Or I also need to know will simply overwriting the stock ROM by Odin with the deodexed ROM, will the KNOX counter be void with me loosing warranty?
Thanks in advance. :highfive:

knox enable bootloader cant be downgraded so once you flash custom recovery u loose root as knox will trigger and now there is no way to change boot loader, well if you are ready to loose warranty as of now u can flash custom recovery and go ahead with any custom rom
By-pass KNOX

Hi floating fat man
So, if you say that it isn't possible, then what is this "link" all about?

Then why are you asking questions that you already know the answer to?
Trolling?
Hi Floatingfatman
Well I found that after i posted that question here. And also it happens that I tried those methods and it doesn't seem to work. I did download the right files from that post. Even used the version of Odin mentioned there. But it did not work. I felt you had a better answer.

the patch not working with official 4.3..you will triggered knox when u flash it with odin...after that odin will failed when you try to downgrade to 4.1.2.
Thats why it is imposible to downgrade the bootloader.

You are just simply not reading the whole thread. You just read what you want. Mj5 is different from mk4. You can still downgrade and get rid of the mj5 bootloader but not the mk4. At least not yet. Right now you are stuck with that bootloader.

Well now I know all I have to do is wait for someone to come up with a fix or a way to bypass the default bootloader so that i can install the rom I want. It was indeed a stupid decision by Samsung to do this if you ask me.
Thanks for your time.

Well, you could always contact Samsung and demand that they revert YOUR device that they had NO RIGHT to lock down without your prior informed consent...
Thanks Floatingfatman
Floatingfatman, thanks... That's a thought hadn't come to my mind. I wonder what Samsung will say when i contact them and ask them to downgrade. I know for a fact that they use Odin too.. And we have access to the same tools that they have. I'm curious as to how they'll approach this problem. Will keep posted for further updates. :highfive:

Firstly, yes you will lose the ability to receive OTA updates. With regards to the SD Card this will remain untouched.

Are you planning on using a stock rom or a custom rom?
EDIT: Sorry didn't read properly. Yes if you are using stock rom then you should be able to download the OTA update from somewhere on XDA. If you are using a custom rom then the chances are the Dev would have already updated there rom to the latest base.

in my understanding , you will have to unlock the bootloader and install a CWM recovery to root your phone and keep the stock ROM, but you will have to download and install the OTAs manually

Just flash back the stock recovery, relock the bootloader, reboot the phone, receive OTA update and install. Then re-root process again to have root access.

Made in Vietnam

Dis yu made a nandroid backup?, or an OFS backup?, couse the probems is the knox app and if yu¿ou have your backup you always can do a restore, the problem is the bootloader. or you can reflash the mk4 rom.

Do you have in download mode warranty void line and if so is it 0 or 1?
I think if you have warranty void line in download mode and it is 0/0 you should wait for a work arround or else you'll loose your warranty even if you flash an official rom (4.1.2 foe exemple) with odin because it will trigger your knox warranty counter!
Don't throw it out the window...it's a good phone
As i know if you flash to a stock rom early to the last version you can lost your IMEI and the problem here is precicely the bootloader and NFS directory, allways is necesary made a nandroid backup, As i read the only option is flash the Stock rom and then try recover the phone and still in MK4 rom, Sorry i don´t see anoter option.

of course you can install custom rom..
its your phone, all the risk is responsible by you anyway.
I also want to return to stock after custom ROM too. I am a little scared of using Triangle away. Seems very complicated and I always mess somting up when flashing.
Hi,
Have a Note II as an alternative phone. Apparently, the phone worked correctly until last month. It started to reboot, not too much, but it happened. Well, I tried to give a solution changing the ROM (when it started with the problem I was in 4.4.2 OmniROM). My first try was with Omega ROM, cause it was my first custom ROM when I bought the phone with 4.1.2 in, but the problem persist (maybe increment the number of reboots-freezes/day) so I changed it again to Android Revolution HD, but it only increment the reboots/freezes.
It seems that it's not a ROM installation problem or something like that, maybe it's a hardware problem, but I would like to hear your opinions about it.
Now the phone have:
TWRP recovery
Rooted
Android Revolution HD
I am thinking on put the stock ROM and bootloader with Odin. What do you think?
Thanks!
Could you enter recovery, format /system /data /cache and flash clean Omni > reboot >reboot to recovery >flash Gapps> reboot and observe without installing any apps. Until it freezes or reboots anyway.
My dad also has note 2,he had the same problem on many different roms.
He had to give it back to repair. They've replaced power button and something else, after that the phone seems normal.

Hi mat9v,
Thanks for your reply. I am in the office now, but I will try it as soon as I can. I thought on your suggestion too, so I will give a chance .
In case of it does not working, if I restore to stock ROM, will it restore the bootloader and recovery automatically too?
My actual bootloader if I am not wrong, is MJ5 bootloader (to fix the WiFi problems with custom ROMs in 4.3).

My dad also has note 2,he had the same problem on many different roms.
He had to give it back to repair. They've replaced power button and something else, after that the phone seems normal.

Did you repair it even with custom ROM? Samsung does not accept it, right? Anyway, my phone is not in guarantee time.
Thanks!
Nah, of course I restored it to official 4.1.2 so everything was like new.
If You don't have guarantee, not good

Hi mat9v,
Thanks for your reply.
Thanks!

Yes, it will overwrite both bootloader and recovery, unroot and so on. Be careful with KNOX and look for TriangleAway to reset flash status to factory.

If you want to return the phone to service center you mast be careful to maintain KNOX status 0 and Software status: Factory or they may refuse to fix the phone (warranty void by messing with software) - it's not such a big deal here in Europe but in US there are some stupid rules like that. So long as you remain on MJ5 bootloader you should have no problem with KNOX when you flash Samsung firmware but Firmware status: Modified vs Factory require using TriangleAway program to reset specific counters. Find it on Playstore and follow the link there to explanation on how to proceed.

Hi mat9v,
Just fyi, I am from Europe . So this mean that I should check if Firmware status is "Modified" or "Factory" and KNOX = 0. In case of it is "Modified" (most probably right?) or KNOX = 1 or more, I must use TriangleAway to reset the counters.
That's okay, thank you all for your help . I will try and give my feedback asap!

You can't reset KNOX counter if you are on a bootloader newer than MJ5 (it's been tested that on MJ5 you can deal with it by flashing earlier firmware along with older bootloader). More info HERE

To check bootloader install "Info" by Nag from Playstore and look in OS category.
Yes, but it will flash bootloader newer than MJ5 I think (MJ9 if my memory serves me right) and you may not be able to set KNOX to 0. Also you must play with TriangleAway before flashing stock 4.3 because it does not work on stock (root required).
Since you are in Europe, it should not matter too much (according to European law) so if someone makes any heat just say that it a law

Hi again,
My bootloader (Info app) is:
Bootloader: N7100XXDLL7
I think this is the old (4.1.2) right?

Yes, and it is probably the reason for Android Revolution problems. If I remember correctly it is a 4.3 rom and they have compatibility problems with older bootloaders - the results are random reboots and freezes (there is a lot about it in Phoenix rom thread). To comfortably use TW 4.3 rom it's best to update bootloader to MJ5. AOSP roms should not be affected though so I suppose that there was some other cause for this. You can flash 4.1.2 on this bootloader without issue, be mindful to safeguard data from your internal sdcard as you may loose them all.
I would advise testing standard 4.1.2 version and if everything works fine, flashing something new (with MJ5 bootloader for compatibility sake).

Thanks. You suggest to flash 4.1.2 stock from sammobile right? I mean, it should install the same bootloader that I have now.
Thanks again!

Hey mat9v,
I am trying to reset the counter but it still shows "1" (before this, it showed "7"). Do you know why can't get to fully reset it?
Thanks!

To fully reset the counter it has to be done in certain order. I do not remember exactly in which order the sequence of events should proceed but it went something like this:
- run triangle away
- reboot
- enter download mode (odin version)
- flash stock rom
If you reboot even once to custom rom (this I'm certain) or even custom recovery (I think) the triangle away effect will be gone and the count returns to 1 because it detects custom rom/kernel.
