I have recently bought a used Hox which is working great but is something of a mystery, outwardly the phone looks like any other Hox but when you open it up it is totally different. The internal layout plus logic board is different and the back cover is just a cover, nothing in it, in addition to this there is a removable sd card on the logic board.
It seems the phone originated in Norway but as of now no further info from HTC.
Specs are:
software 4.1.9 (will not upgrade)
baseband 1.1204.105.14
kernal 2.6.39.4 *********
IMEI 353043059853500
ON THE BACK COVER
S720e
pj46100
I have googled the pj but does not show the specs I have
Any help would be appreciated as if anything needed replacing im stuffed.

why do i need to delete S/N and IMEI? does fastboot getvar all give phone specs
okay get it, just seen another getvar post, will i get the original IMEI back?
Software 4.1.9 does not exist on the hox. And there is 100% not a removable sdcard on the main board ! And the hox is a unibody, there is no back cover. The housing should be one part. If you want to take off the cover you have to pop out the whole screen part on the front side.

Oh man, you bought chinese copy of HTC One X, they only put android 4.1.9 on their devices (btw that version doesn't exist)...
It's a replica, so you can't use any of htc one x roms or stuff !

Sorry, when i said back cover I meant the unibody, its case design is no different from my other Hox, it is definately running 4.1.9 and has a removable sd card. The phone as I have said performs better than my original Hox. I will post some pictures of the internals.

Well man, i told you, you can't use ANY of tools/mods/roms/kernels created for HTC One X (endeavorU) so i don't know can you root that phone, but you can see in antutu your hardware, and you could ask for help, maybe you could fix your one x to be fast like it should be...
You just try with some chinese root tool called "V Root" or somethings like this and may be you can root it. But even after rooting you sure cannot be use anything at here one x forum.
If you known chinese can search at chinese mobile forum for somethings.

Hi GUys,
Anyone know if the camera module for the HTC desire is soldered on to the base board?
On my Hero, it was just stuck on and connected via a flex cable...I desperately need to remove the camera module.
Thanks!!!
I have no idea how to do that, but curiosity got over me, so I have to ask.
Why do you want to remove camera in the first place?

Office security policy does not allow cameras on-site :X
And you would butcher your phone to do that? :S
just put a black sticker over the inside of the back cover, try take a photo and show security.
in that case, isn't it better to get yourself a low-tech phone without cam for that purpose?
I mean it's a such a shame to butcher Desire for that reason...
well could you live with a low tech phone?
it isnt bad if the camera is just attached by a flex cable because you can always put it back.
i guess I'll just end up being the first one to try : (

And defeat the purpose of buying the Desire? Maybe he needs all the features of the Desire while at work where a dumb phone wouldn't cut it?
The sticker over the lens idea sounds good if they'll accept it.

Hello Guys,
I am a newbie here & would appreciate your help in following matter.
I bought a HTC One X from Bangkok and i m using it in India now.I am facing following issues.
1. I suspect that the phone that i bought was AT &T locked phone earlier and i might have been cheated by the seller in this regard. My question is how do i confirm whether this is an AT&T unlocked Phone?
2. The language of applications installed on the Phone is chinese and i cant seem to get rid of the language even after changing the language from settings page. How do i get it to be in English completely?
3. Indian carrier SIM apart from CELLONE does not detect or register on any network here. and the SIM slot is a normal one not a micro SIM Slot. Does this Phone require any special kind of SIM card?
4. Even Google Play is not there. whenever i try to download anything a page in chinese opens up. And i do not know chinese.
4. Will rooting of my phone help in any of these regard? I even dont know whether this Phone was a rooted one.
Please Help somebody....
Thanks & regard..
Nix.

Well i am sure that its not a chinese knock off atleast.. but this may be AT&T unlocked, that i am confused about...
Got to<settings <about<software information. Take a screenshot and post here.
here is the screenshot.. plz help dude.. i am all confused right now
Looks like it could be a really old build of HK firmware, but the kernel date doesn't make sense.
Try flashing the latest HK RUU (1.29.708.15) http://www.filefactory.com/f/7cc7b2fbdd03c031/
I'll leave it to you to find a username and password that works, but it's been posted in this forum more than once.
Strange, Also you mentioned that the phone takes a full sized sim not micro sim. Check the HOX's spec sheet and you will find that they were manufactured with micro sim slot only.
Maybe it IS a knock off OR someone modded the build.prop and sold you a Desire X?
i am uploading my factory mode screen. Please see if you guys can help
The number of speaker holes are less that the genuine one x. I think you have been fooled. The Hboot that you have is different. Check the attached pic.

yeah, it definitely seems that i have been fooled now. Any ways, is there any way to know the device hardware configuration, so that i may be able to flash it to atleast use it here in India.
Is there any ROM compatible to any handset?? If so, Then how do i go with it?

I was trying to be sensitive in my previous posts, and felt for you. Best you leave the rom as is, chances are if you try flashing you could end up with a brick.
sorry to bring this post back to life.. but need help.

Hello guys,
My HTC One X is only two months old but I'm having a few problems with it since it has been a month old. Maybe even a week or two.
My first problem is that my HOX doesn't detect my earphones/headphones anymore. When I plug them in and play music, the music stays playing through the speaker. It doesn't matter how I turn or bend the jack a little bit, it keeps playing through the speaker. Nor does it display the earphones symbol in my statusbar at the top. Is this a software problem? Or a hardware problem?
My second problem is that when my screen sometimes doesn't react when I press the Power button, like it doesn't turn on when I press it. When I touch the screen, it sometimes vibrate though, like in it's working without any display (sometimes the buttons below the screen light up, but the screen doesn't. Sometimes both don't light up). Another problem is that my screen sometimes changes from color, like pixels becoming red or green or so; or my screen starts to act up, sometimes my screen zooms in a lot, sometimes it just start to go from up to down, like really from the top and the bottom, or sometimes it just acts up a lot like the parts of my screen go stand through eachother.
My HTC One X has the following specifications:
Android-version: 4.0.4
HTC Sense-version: 4.1
Softwarenumber: 2.17.401.2
HTC SDK API-niveau: 4.23
HTC expansionversion: HTCExtension_403_1_GA_20
Kernel-version: 2.6.39.4-g090b42e
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT
Smalbandversion: 2.1204.135.20
Build-number: 2.17.401.2 CL89015 release-keys
Browserversion: WebKit/534.30
I already talked to the HTC Live Chat, they told me to boot my HOX in Safe Mode and I also performed a hard reset, none of those things worked. My HOX is still original, I didn't change anything, just bought it from the store called Vandenborre in Belgium. Also, my provider is Proximus, also located in Belgium.
Will this be fixed with Android Jelly Bean and HTC Sense 4.5? Or what causes this?
Greetings,
Digifais.
Sounds like hardware problems to me.. i dint think jelly bean will fix this.
Did you test other earpieces?
Why not just return the phone and ask for another one?

Had it been, on a custom rom, i would've said software issues, as some kernels and custom roms, just fail with some system elements. This is not the case, this is on a stock rom...confusing...
Your best bet is to send it to HTC and see if they can do anything with it, if it's still under warranty, well they don't have much choice... considering it isn't your doing which made it go weird.

Could I bring it to the store where I bought it aswell? I already e-mailed them and they said I should bring it to their store so their technicians can check it out. It's still under warranty because I got 2 years of warranty from the store. Some people said it could of been a model from the first shipment, because they were buggy or something like that.
I also tested other earphones, including the original HTC and one from Sennheiser. Both working in my iPod tho.

Possibly yeah, you should take it back and see what you can do. Yeah there's a way to check when it was built with the serial number in th options tells u the location where it was manufactured to.
For example mine is SH24X there's a method to work it on a thread on it. I can't remember how.

Mine is SH26JW, only thing I could made up that it's one from China, Shanghai.
Is there a old model and new model, but still with the name HTC ONE X ?
I mean that probably the first phones were with few hardware problem / mistakes, and HTC probably changed / fixed these issues ...
Am I right? and if so, how to know which one is the newer with a closed box in the shop ?
I need to know anything else before?
BTW i'm buying the global version
Thanx a lot in advance for any answer
There is only one model of the international hox. BTW there are many s/n batches, you should try to find the latest s/n avaible in store. Mine is a HT23XW....... HT is the manufacturing location, 2 for year 2012, 3 is the month. So latest s/n should be free of many issues like wifi, gps (was related to bad antenna connection), sim card connection (again bad contacts Inside the phone) and yellow spotted screen (bad batches of screen for some manufacturing location). Here are the thread about understanding s/n: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24898388&postcount=13
Here are the known issues with early hox batches: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24516940#post24516940
How to test your device in store for defect: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649943&highlight=yellow+spot
Many software related issues were solved with OTA uprades.
BTW you may wants to look at the new HTC One X+ wich haves a bigger battery, slightly faster cpu, 64gb storage and Android Jelly Bean out of the box.
If I helped, plz click thank button!
Thanks a lot

Hi,
I'm genuinely sorry if this is an often repeated thread, but I couldn't find anyone here suffering from exactly the same symptons as me.
I've had my One X for a couple of months, it's completely unrooted and has nothing on it you can't get from Google's app market. I'm with Orange, in the UK, so the phone's running all their default stuff.
My phone's been running quite hot ever since I got it, but, today, I had it in my pocket while I drove to work (20) minutes, and it must have overheated and turned itself off.
I couldn't turn it on, and, in my panic, I held the power button for ten seconds, and saw the buttons at the bottom flash. Since then, nothing at all, no charging light (from USB or mains). I've tried all combinations of power/volume button presses and absolutely nothing has happened at all. Nothing at all since the first button flashes on the first long power button press (10 seconds). Now, it's been like that for about 8 hours and has been on and off charge all day, to no avail. (no LED at all, at any point, red nor green).
I've just got back from holiday and have a tonne of pictures and vids I have probably lost, but want to try to recover. I'd be really, really grateful for the assistance of the experienced people here. I'm, as you may have picked up, a hopeless newb.
When I connect via laptop to USB, the computer (Windows 7) detects an APX device, whatever that is, but the automated driver installation fails. Nothing shows up in Windows explorer.
Is there anything I/You/We can do?
My last resort is to send it back to Orange, and ask if they can retrieve data, but I expect they'll just send a new phone and wipe/refurbish my old one for someone else.
Is it possible to send phones back to HTC for repair, without losing data?
And finally, although I've not seen anything on the screen at all, no bootloaders, no recovery screen, nothing, might some combinatin of my button-mashing have already wiped the phone?
On a scale of One to OH DEAR...how screwed am I?
Please help me, XDA!
Edit: Ah, I can see it as a device, actually. Shows up as an "APX Device", but I can't do anything with it.

Sorry, but no chance at all, the Htc service technician would directly replace a new board on your phone and discard the old one, meaning they wouldn't even bother try repairing the old board, and all you data would be on the old board.
and since the phone doesn't turn on, as i told u previously they wouldn't take the pain of repairing the old board and finding out if ur phone was rooted or not, they would directly replace the entire board. (at-least that's what they did to me, when i tried it  )
out of curiosity, didnt u use the auto-upload dropbox feature ?
u pics would be on dropbox.com if u did. u could log in with ur id and pass

I'm not sure if your information is just from personal experience but the reason why any official repair center won't retrieve data is because of the action of doing so is tangled up in many privacy laws and it's not worth the hassle.
As far as I am aware HTC will repair anything that's within their skill set which is pretty much anything, but the cost of their labour is high and given the HTC One X is currently a £350 phone, it may not be worthwhile.
@OneX94 I can completely sympathise with you – such a ball ache to lose em after a holiday!
Can I ask about some of the more particular details of your phone? You said it was rooted – did you have a custom rom and CPU frequency adjustment apps etc?
