Hello everyone. I'm not sure if the same question already is on the forum or not, but here's the problem.
Not so long ago, I deleted my account from the Mail app. Can't remember the reason, but if there was a problem, there was a problem, easy enough... So, later (the same day) I re-entered all my login information. It connected without any problems, and I was satisfied. However, recently enough, I started to have spam in my Inbox folder on my phablet. I don't know the reason, and that's my question: is there any way to stop receiving spam into my Inbox folder? OK if Spam folder, but there isn't one. The email is at Yahoo. Could you recommend me a few steps to successfully resolve this issue? Not so long time ago, I received a spam about growing man's organ (hope guessed which). I'm a man, but I don't need it to be bigger. So, any help would be appreciated.
P.S. Contacted Samsung about this issue, hasn't been resolved.
P.P.S. The security was used SSL. Now switched to TLS, in hope the spam stops...
Is the spam hitting the Yahoo inbox online? If so it's Yahoo and borked settings on your web mail.
Also NO spam filter is perfect and things will get past all the time.

Just now checked the web version of Yahoo. Spam is in Spam folder.
So, any other ideas?

Gmail.
My wife used Yahoo for years and after the last round of changes she finally switched up. Yahoo is made of fail and all things stupid in recent years.

The thing is, I have 2 general accounts, one Gmail, another - Yahoo. The one on Yahoo is in Email app, so that is the only reason I'm asking. I do not wish to connect them, so that's why I'm using 2 apps individually. If I wanted to connect the two accounts, I'd ask how to connect, not how to stop receiving spam in Inbox.

Hello all
I'm wondering if there is any way to be able to view the contents of yahoo email folders in outlook. as far as i can tell the only thing i can see is my general inbox.
So far the only solution i have found is to use yahoo Go! but this does not display the conents of my email on my home screen. in addition i have to load the program ever time i want to check my work folder, as well as manually connect. its very cumbersome and the software is bloated with graphics and crap i just dont want to see or use.
In reality, the only thing i want to see is the contents of my folder labeled "work" the rest of my email i will gladly deal with when i am at a computer. idealy, i would like outlook, or a whatever program it is to display the contents of just my "work" folder on my homescreen. if anyone can point me in the right direction here it would be greatly appreciated.
oh also ive heard that google is much better for mobile email. my yahoo account is 15 years old, so i cant give it up, but im considering trying to rig things up so that all of my work email forwards to a gmail account so that i cant then get it displayed on my homescreen.
thanks again guys
ok, this may or may not help. are you using pop3 to connect to yahoo? if so, i think that's your problem. try connection with imap. you should be able to find the connection info on the yahoo site. you may have to do some funny business to make it not automaticly pick up the pop3 settings. i had to for my gmail account. they may actually have a winmobile 6+ tutorial (gmail did). but i know that imap supports folders.
Hey ,
Yahoo gives u pop and imap only if u have a paid account ,, not to free accounts
wow, how restricting. i'm glad i dropped them 5yrs ago for gmail.
thanks for the help. yahoo are real bastards. still trying to ride along on a restrictive model that was good enough back in 1995, but is a joke with the likes of competitors like gmail in this day and age. i too wish i could just dump the damn yahoo account, but ive had this email address for about 15 years, and i also use the thing for work, so it really wont cut it. can anyone tell me if some sort of forwarding to gmail of just my work contacts' email could resolve my problem? if so, is there any special trick i need to be doing?

Sorry, but forwarding is like POP/IMAP in Yahoo. Only available on the paid "Yahoo Mail Plus" accounts. I've switched 95% over to gmail, but check the Yahoo free account once a week.

I think there is a difference between .com & .co.uk or it's that my account is donkey years old as have forwarding on free accounts
Well, gmail or Yahoo, or whatever other, there is no way to keep the email folders and related messages in the Android phone memory and use them offline like in the PC Outlook! That's really missing as one can't consult messages if out of wireless connection range!!!
That's the application Android is missing!
I have had my lovely Desire since Thursday. First time using an Android phone and I love it.
One thing I have noticed is that my yahoo and hotmail accounts are not syncing the 'marked as read'. I have read the emails on the phone, but when I look at the mail on my laptop its still unread. Anyone had any simular issues?
try seven beta http://community.seven.com/main.php the problem you are having is that you have a pop connection to hotmail. So the phone keeps a copy of the emails rather than the push email which will understand read flags etc.

tbh your best bet is to do what i did and have your hotmail forwarded to a gmail account and use that gmail is much better and you can even get it to send as the hotmail addy. Also being a google phone it works a treat.
Here's an odd one. If you receive a text message that is MT, the "sender" can be text rather than a number. Obviously, you can't reply to it (hence "mobile terminate"), but they're used quite often by companies (like ourselves) for notifications.
Weirdly, when I get such a message, the Desire's SMS app matches the sender to a seemingly random user on my phone (in my case, it's my wife's contact), so that all of the messages appear to have come from her. It's very odd.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Daern
please read previous threads! its a bug and reported to HTC
It's your Facebook friends with stupid entries in their mobile number fields. As above, there's a thread about it somewhere...
This isn't a Facebook issue...I've never used it
Ah, but it does seem to be something to do with contact linking...
Guess the fix is on HTC's side then.
But...
.. it is still very annoying!
My Desire suffers from this issue too.
Bank SMS notifications are attributed to a friend of mine...
This just happened to me, it assigned them to some girl on facebook, looks very weird in my sms history...hope they fix this as i haven't been able to find a workaround yet.

The same thing happened to me and I was able to fix it:
I managed to sort it out. I took off facebook contact syncing, removed my facebook accounts from facebook and friendstream, rebooted, readded the facebook accounts leaving contact syncing off and this solved it. I'd rather not have my facebook contacts showing in my phonebook any way...

Can you still link FB accounts to contacts tho on an individual basis? I want the profile pics for my contacts but have had a few issues with these SMSs coming up as a friend...
Just out of curiosity, did you guys hard reset your phone, and use the built in backup tool?
Hi guys,
I have noticed a strange thing with Exchange mail app. When I send my e-mail it does send it but, however, saves the message as a draft as well. After some time my DRAFTS folder is becoming a copy of my SENT ITEMS which is a bit annoying. Does anyone experience the same / has any cure for that?
Second "bug" is when I try to reply a facebook notification. Now, when I post a photo on FB and someone leaves a comment ot that, I receive an E-Mail notification like "John has commented on your photo...", and in the message body it says: REPLY TO THIS E-MAIL TO ANSWER THE COMMENT. It has always worked for me using Outlook, webmail, WinMobile-outlook-mail (and it still does) to hit the "Reply" button, type smth thus leaving a comment. However, no comments are left if I try to "reply" on "John's comment" using my Desire.
Any clues?
Using HTC default Exchange mail app.
anyone?...
I guess the two problems may be related. Are the Facebook replies going out through your Exchange account?
To diagnose the first problem, can you see if the Exchange server is logging any errors? Get your system administrator (if it's not you) to check the application event logs, while you're doing a send/receive.
I have the first problem - intermittently any mail I send is also saved to the drafts folder and its a little annoying. Personally I don't believe the second problem is related in any way at all...

I have the first issue when using my office email account. We use Lotus Notes and the interface between the device and the Domino server is Commontime software, using Activesync client on the device.
Commontime advise that this is only an issue with Android 2.1 devices as the outgoing mail is not stamped with a Posteddate field.
I also have a Hotmail account on the Desire, and I do not get the "sent -> drafts" syndrome with that account.
Deleting and re-adding accounts is fixing problems for some people. I would suggest delete, reboot, re-add.
Already tried that but didn't work.

--or, in the case of Lotus, the logs from Commontime.
Sometimes answers or new mails ends up staying in draft.
I've found out that on some e-mail addresses it takes the domain away.
[email protected] becomes [email protected]
On both answers and new ones. And it can be one out of two...
Any ideas?
guys, I got a really odd issue with my tilt 2 and yahoo email. I got the phone setup receiving emails from a couple of my email account, yahoo and gmail. For some reason, one of my yahoo email always download all of the mails after like a day or two of use despite the fact I set it to 1 day or 3 days. What is wrong with it?
Finally!! Someone who can relate to what I'm going through.
Any fixes for this? It had downloaded over 1400 emails in one Yahoo account and everything on the phone was lagging. There were some areas I couldn't get to: Home Screen. I ended up doing another hard reset and reloading the data from there. The only thing that sucks about that is that I lose the threaded SMS that I had.
Any help would be appreciated.
Ditto on the problem. I haven't figured out why it does this yet...
same issue has happened a few times to me. only solution I found was going to yahoo on my pc & archiving old emails so I keep only 100-200 emails in my inbox.

This is a rare issue for me. It's happened to me less than 10 times (on my HD2 and my TP2).
The only thing I do when I see it trying to download 300+ (instead of the 5 days of mail I want), I press Menu > Send/Receive to force-stop the download. When I retry, it goes back to downloading the 5 days-worth of mail.
