Maybe the warning that he may brick his phone is a big turn off? I almost tried yesterday, but finally decided against it until I know better...

It should work but if you have the knox flag there will be no reset of it.
You seem to have not upgraded to the mj9 bootloader (one which has 'knox warranty void' message)... check your bootloader via zdevice test app.. if it is 'Dmg1' then you can reset it...
Hope I helped

I've got mj5 bootloader with knox warranty thing and I've reset a flash counter by triangle away.

can confirm custom counter reset was succesfull on latest EU 4.3 firmware - XXUEMK9 (now have all as stock only knox warranty bit its on 1)
post in annex the triangleaway thread on xda
a file called triangle away. zip has been created on your sd .please attach it to a post in the triangleaway thread on xda, with details about your device. I try to install and hope you can not afford to have a solution for this type of device, I get the wait.
Yes it works on 4.3...

yes it is compatible and it will reset your counter but knox counters will still and status will be modified
whats the point of using triangle on 4.3 knox enabled firmwares ? if the knox counter goes to 01 bye bye warranty ! you can reset the binary counter to 0 but whats the point doing so!
Could someone confirm that i can reset the counter to 0 on a 4.3 (MK4) custom rom with MJ5 bootloader without changing the knox flag to 1 ( it is set to 0 now, of course )?
And also, after using triangle away ( if possible ) my status will become official if i'm using a stock kernel?
You need to be on STOCK kernel in order to Reset counter on 4.3 I flashed stock and rooted and then reset.
I tryed with custom rom like DN3 and its not working.

I tryed with Triangle away and it said that flashcount was reset but a popup shows and says that if its not reset then you are not on
the stock recovery and stock kernel.
I rebooted and saw that it was not reset. Then i flashed stock rom again. Rooted it and tryed again. Then it was OK

Understood, so it works just like was before android 4.3 if both kernel and recovery aren't stock the counter gets stuck to 1 :good:
Thanks

Are you sure you need to be on stock recovery to reset counter?? From what I undersotood on 4.1.2 you could reset counter even with Phil's, but it would incerease if you flashed something or went to recovery, but it COULD reset it.

Well the kernel scources are out so it will not take that long anymore, also Mobile Odin Pro needs to be fixed as a flash from Mobile Odin seems to raise the binary counter atm, so be aware of that

Flashing what from mobile odin?
Flashing a stock rom doesn't increase the counter, flashing a custom part e.g. recovery will (and does on the s3 too)

You have to try it but I think it works.
im using rooted stock rom, when i boot with triangle away, it say im in custom and counter is 1, so i use it to reset, but after i check again, it still the same, anyone can teach me how can i get rid of that?
Do you have a custom recovery? Chainfire states quite clearly that using a custom recovery will cause that.
Stock recovery, havent flash cwm

Same problem but i don't flash nothing in download mode. Only ROM in stock.
i had this issue apart from reflashing back to stock rom i read that if you did a factory reset it also works. Its just a pain installing all your apps again and setting the phone back up again.
But what will trigger this again? It quite pain if i need to do this frequently

Strange, on Note N7000 Triangle Aways sets everything to zero and samsung official. At N7100 I have custom with CWM.

Unless you're needing to return your phone, I wouldn't worry about it. You can still get the OTA updates by getting them from sammobile and flashing with Odin.

Hi, I am trying to downgrade from latest LL7 to 4.1.1 of my Country, but in the status always says modified, even rooting and using triangle away. There's no way to get rid of ''modified'' status. Is the new Bootloader that caused this? How can I resolv this? Somebody could help me?
Thanks!
Why you wanna downgrade ?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
You need to do a factory reset after flashing the stock rom, then flash the rom again... for a total of twice, to completely get rid of the modified.

Hi Mate,
Flash stock rom once then root it will Chainfire auto root method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31801060&postcount=2).
then run the triangle away program to reset the counter.
Now the counter will be OK but now you will have modified status.
Flash the stock rom again and after completing the process boot the phone into stock recovery factory reset the phone and reset the cache too. then reboot the phone, you will have standard samsung wizard and your device status will be back to normal.
Hope that helps you.
Cheers, Sumit
Yes, flash it twice.

I understand samsung won't take a rooted phone. They consider it broken. So how do I root it back to stock? I done a couple flashes, I've used Triangle away to reset the counter and superuser which was provided on another thread. Has anyone here done a warranty replacement successfully?
Yes not that hard odin back to stock and reset counter.

I've found that even after flashing a stock rom I have to do a factory reset to get back to unmodified status. When I say factory reset, I don't mean from the settings menu, that doesn't do it for me, you have to do it from stock recovery.
what stock recovery and stock rom should I use? Just use Odin?

- Flash MrRobinsons root66 image and flash using ODIN.
- Once flashed, you can use triangle away app and reset the counter.
- Once the counter is reset you can unroot the device from SU menu.
- Reboot and perform a factory reset.
- At this stage the custom binary counter should show Official.
- If the device status still shows modifed, you can flash original stock ROM using ODIN.

Actually if you have stock recovery, reset the counter first with triangle away, then Odin stock mb4. If you Odin first you lose root, which triangle away needs to work, so you are SOL.
If you dont have stock recovery, Odin mrRobinsons pre rooted mb4, the triangle away, then the stock non rooted mb4.
After both make sure you factory reset to remove any remaining apps that needed root, ie: SuperSU, titanium back up...
