Well the kernel scources are out so it will not take that long anymore, also Mobile Odin Pro needs to be fixed as a flash from Mobile Odin seems to raise the binary counter atm, so be aware of that

Flashing what from mobile odin?
Flashing a stock rom doesn't increase the counter, flashing a custom part e.g. recovery will (and does on the s3 too)

2. anyone have the procedures to unroot my sgh-t999v

Flash a stock rooted Rom. T-Mobile one. That seems to be ok as long as you don't flash a T-Mobile radio.
Not sure if triangle away works on the Canadian version.
Maybe someone else has tried it.
All I had to do to return my last one was flash a stock rooted Rom.
I don't think they check the flash counter

I can see you have a Videotron Galaxy S3. They don't check the flash counter. Let's just say I know this "by experience". As long as it's just rooted and you don't have any custom ROM, you should be fine. But indeed if you can at least hide the SU app it would be a good thing.
You could also perform a factory reset in CWM prior to going to the store, as they will make you do it anyways (and you actually don't want them to see the CWM screen)prior to any exchange. It's company policy.

If your trying to go back to stock, just download the stock rom from sammobile, it has everything you need like stock recovery, and then just flash it via odin.

Thanks!
I'll test it tonight, wouldn't look good to download a 700 mb file at work!
I tried a few firmwares, but for some reason they all said "unsupport dev_type" when trying to use odin to return to stock non root (from stock rooted) In the end, the easiest way to remove root was to just let Kies update my gs3 to Jelly Bean (sgh-t999v). Painless, no data loss, took about 30 minutes with the firmware download.
Good luck
You will likely also want to triangle away. I won't link because it's extremely dangerous software that requires you to read up on the risks.
But that will reset your custom flashes assuming you have some on your counter you can check easily by going into download mode.
i recently lost my stock rom backup.. deleted it off clockworkmod touch by accident, so i only have the cm10.1 nightly i was running when i deleted it.. now i'm assuming i will lose root if i flash the stock firmware through odin? is there another way to get my stock rom back without losing root (and cyanogenmod rom backups)?
hey guys im having trouble with triangle away on my sgh-t999v with the baseband version: T999VVLUFNF1
after I used triangle away and I go into download mode it says:
current binary: Samsung Official
System status: official
qualcomm secureboot:enable
Warranty Bit:1
Bootloader AP SWAEV: 2
Although the current binary and the system status have changed the warranty bit is still at 1
Please help!
There is no way (and never will be a way) to change the Warranty Bit. Sorry

I guess im screwed for warranty..I thought it might be cuz I have a custom kernal installed that triangle away didnt work..but thanks anyway and sorry about posting in multiple threads, im kinda new to this
No problem, thats why i mention it, so you know for the future.
Tecnically, with the warranty bit tripped, the warranty is void. However, i have seen a lot of posts where people sent it in anyway and their warranty was still honored. Its not a guarantee, but there is hope it can be used if needed. The good thing though, is you most likely will never need to use it anyway!

How to unroot Note II?

Hello, I want to try and install Omega ROM 9.1 to my Note II (bought from Orange Slovakia). In 2 weeks I will send note II to service (bad cover) so I will need to unroot my device. Can you show me right way how to unroot? I need set counter to 0. Thank you very much.
See attachment please
If you are currently unrooted then its better to send it as soon as possible to service center. You can change the rom later as unrooting is a bit headache especially for people new to android rooting.

Already did the recovery stock and stock rom part. But how restoring my kernel ?
edit: Hooops, I did it wrong
After reading a post where the author has solved the same problem by making the whole process again, I tried again the triangle away part (with the v2.37 available here)... And It's working !
The first time I did not have the special boot screen, I don't know what I had done wrong, but I guess nothing had been done then. But everything is okay for me now !
But I'm still interested in this story of kernel ...
They will be able to see that you have a custom kernel. That means that you had the ability to flash kernel I.e. you rooted your phone.
From your pic it looks like you have stock kernel.

Yes thats possible. However, Your warranty will still be considered void if they find a custom rom on your device...so I dont get it?
Youll need both 0 Binary count and a Stock rom.
Yes i know but if the can't see this like with a SDS they will probably not see the custom ROM because not be able to flash. Im afraid of bricked issue. I mean if i cannot flash anymore. It's better to have counter reset instead of having nothing.
So it's better for me to reset counter even if I'm with custom rom? Is there a tutorial in my case rom custom + custom kernel?

Two words. Triangle Away.
The tutorial is the same whether with stock/rooted or custom/rooted. The only difference is you'll need to check "reset on boot" with Triangle Away to keep the counter from reading 1.
Thanks guys.
I know for stock rom before send to warranty. But first i reset counter.
But if i do it before flash stock. I will have to do it again after flash stock Rom??

Just uninstall Triangle Away AFTER you've reverted back to stock and unrooted and the counter should remain 0 and read official.
If you haven't had the phone that long, why not do a dry run from stock/unrooted to custom/rooted and then back to stock/rooted (with Triangle Away installed and doing its job of course) and see for yourself.
Thanks bro

here is some possible ways
-Having custom kernel/recovery, still yo can reset counter but for that you need play store version of triangle away, which have option to reset counter at every boot. again to remember you need custom kernel which support this function. this will help you if your device brick in a way when no normal boot is possible (still i doubt any existing custom kernel offers it)
- If device still able to boot normally and you have custom kernel/recovery, you can flash stock kernel and recovery and after that you can reset counter.
-For stock kernel and recovery, you can reset triangle(needs root) and can uninstall triangle away. whenever you need to claim warranty just unroot it.
Last option is safest way who are worrying about warranty.
one more good thing is that, most common cause of brick is SDS, we already have fix for that, though unfortunately someone gets SDS, i have seen lots of cases when even presence of custom kernel/recovery, hardly bootloader can detect it b'coz of emmc read failure and warranty remains intact. in fact i have seen only one case of SDS where download mode showing flash binary count non zero, though i was not ready to believe it was SDS (history what i remember is, one guy have posted here, his GF have got device bricked and claim was rejected b'coz of raised flash counter, her device needed to replace mobo that's it. no further information was there and hard to believe it was SDS by just this much information)

Thanks a lot for these details!
I use the perseus kernel andi don't know if he can use the auto reset counter with triangle away?
But if i understand what you said (sorry for my bad english speaking) almost all of the SDS will not avoid the warranty. If it's not a SDS I'm supposed to flash again with download mode?
Si should i try triangle away with perseus kernel?
Thanks again!
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Better ask on perseus forum if this option available, b'coz you have to purchase triangle away from market for that. Though it's welcome if you this way want to support developers.
Another your question possibility of Flashing in non sds case, that is really depends on types of brick you have. Though just flashing is not enough, you need to flash stock kernel and recovery as well you should have device working (booting) normally, bcoz triangle away needs normal booting device. So in case of brick I don't think you may get chance.
Simple advice
If you really worrying about flash counter and warranty, then keep stock maximum use root with reseting counter
Or
Let leave on luck and enjoy custom stuff.

whats the point of using triangle on 4.3 knox enabled firmwares ? if the knox counter goes to 01 bye bye warranty ! you can reset the binary counter to 0 but whats the point doing so!

And also, after using triangle away ( if possible ) my status will become official if i'm using a stock kernel?

[Q] Revert Back To Stock Help

Hi everyone,
I have a Galaxy S3 LTE from T-Mobile (SGH-T999L) and I rooted it and tried to install a custom rom. However it didn't work and then I installed the stock rom. Now I want to reset the restore counter. With the Triangle Away. However, I though it needs root. So I don't want to root it and then reset the counter. Basically can someone just help me completely restore it to stock so there are no signs of rooting or modding. I need to send it to samsung. Please help!

Thanks for the reply! After I run the triangle away and then odin flash the stock firmware won't that increase the counter to 1?
Counter only increases when you flash non official firmware with odin. (Except for root66). Itll also retrip to 1 if you have a custom recovery or kernel installed. You are talking bout the binary counter, not the warranty bit, right?

Wait. What the warranty bit? Is that something that will stop me from having samsung fix my phone. Because in download mode it says Warranty Bit is 1.
Yup, I'm afraid your warranty is void. You can try to send it in. In the Note3 forums there are several repirts of sending it in with the warranty bit tripped and still getting it serviced or replaced. No guarantees though.
