Hello, I want to try and install Omega ROM 9.1 to my Note II (bought from Orange Slovakia). In 2 weeks I will send note II to service (bad cover) so I will need to unroot my device. Can you show me right way how to unroot? I need set counter to 0. Thank you very much.
See attachment please
If you are currently unrooted then its better to send it as soon as possible to service center. You can change the rom later as unrooting is a bit headache especially for people new to android rooting.

I'm a bit confuse here. Triangle away method doesn't work for me, i can't guet 0 to my counter. Stay on YES / 1.
There is any method beside buying the play version of Triangle away ? I want to get a full stock condition.
Try restoring stock recovery and kernel or stock rom altogether.

Already did the recovery stock and stock rom part. But how restoring my kernel ?
edit: Hooops, I did it wrong
After reading a post where the author has solved the same problem by making the whole process again, I tried again the triangle away part (with the v2.37 available here)... And It's working !
The first time I did not have the special boot screen, I don't know what I had done wrong, but I guess nothing had been done then. But everything is okay for me now !
But I'm still interested in this story of kernel ...
They will be able to see that you have a custom kernel. That means that you had the ability to flash kernel I.e. you rooted your phone.
From your pic it looks like you have stock kernel.

Well the kernel scources are out so it will not take that long anymore, also Mobile Odin Pro needs to be fixed as a flash from Mobile Odin seems to raise the binary counter atm, so be aware of that

Flashing what from mobile odin?
Flashing a stock rom doesn't increase the counter, flashing a custom part e.g. recovery will (and does on the s3 too)

Lenny as already posted, mobile odin pro raised my counter when flashing a pure stock unrooted rom (downloaded from sammobile) and that is the strange thing

I have the ATT Note 2 and installed an international 7105 Rom... Need to reset my counter. Is there a way I can get triangle away to work without having to revert back to stock first? get triangle away to accurately detect my device ID or something?

You have to try it but I think it works.
how to root my note2 7100 using cwm because I don't want to root it by flashing any kernel as its going to increase my binary counter, is there any proper way to flash it by using cwm as we used to do in galaxy s2....plz help...
thanx
Using CWM will increase your flash counter. So you're screwed either way.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium HD app
but according to my knowledge until and unless we flash a kernel like cf-root, the binary counter won't increase, and I am quite sure about it, because I had rooted my galaxy s2 through cwm many times and my binary counter never increased until I flashed cf-root kernel...for that I an asking can the same be adopted for note 2..
Why nit just root using cf auto root then use triangle away to reset counter?

frankly speaking I am afraid of doing that, after reading the warnings that it might brick your phone, and moreover I don't have a usb jig to recover my phone if something goes wrong...
You're paranoid.
You won't brick your phone using any root method. Unless your PC dies midway, or you pulling the battery midway.
Plus even if that does happen. There are still ways to get it working again.
Take the plunge and do it. All the Note 2 users who have rooted cannot be wrong.
Beamed from Jupiter on my Galaxy Note II
The simple fact that you have CWM installed (even if you don't flash anything through it) already means that your flash counter is above 0. Samsung's bootloader in note 2 has a checksum which raises the counter to 1 when it detects custom recovery. So if you're afraid that your flash counter will go above 0 if you flash something, don't be, it already is

I very well know what rooting is and how it's done in various ways, I had a s2...I had done all sorts experiments with it, I am afraid of using the "triangle away", because of warnings mentioned, for that reason I don't want to root the phone by flashing a custom kernel rather I prefer root it through cwm which won't increase my binary counter (I always used to root my s2 through cwm, and the binary counter never increased)
Well it doesnt work like that take it or leave it
What you could do though is seen as you was an s2 user which says you know what your doing is go search for the rooting thread were u can keep your counter at 0 I did copy the url but sod it I dont spoon feed

There's a guide in the General forums stickies on how to root via CWM, but that's obsolete now, as CWM + autoroot was released. But since you've used the old method, it will apply to you.
Since you've already flashed a custom recovery, like others have said, your counter is raised already. You're already past the point of no return.
If you're worried about the counter raising to 1, it's already too late. It makes no difference now.
Beamed from Jupiter on my Galaxy Note II
S2 is an old phone and Note 2/S3 are new. Samsung and others have improved detection of root. Doesnt matter what root method u using and counter will raise by one. For each time u flash the phone.
Forget S2, that are old good time and now are totally diffferent.

Just use triangle away after root or download official rom and flash using odin mobile then factory reset it... thats what I did and I got root and no binary count

isnt it when u boot into cwm, yr counter will increase to 1 already?
Mine didnt increase... they increase only when I root

So I cant find the answer to this anywhere. People have been saying that triangle away for i317 (att note 2) should be used on i317 designed ROM. If you use triangle away on a att note 2 with a ported international ROM, it may bork or hard brick the phone. Is is fact or fiction?
For example, since all 4.1.2 based ROM for the att note 2 is based off the international version of the the note 2, should triangle away not be used on the att note 2 running the 4.1.2 international note based ROM?
I'm on clean rom intl port and have triangle away set to reset at boot and have never had an issue.

Got my interest piqued. My Galaxy S and S2 had the triangles after rooting and installing ROMs. But I don't see that on my Note 2 after...
1. buying it from AT&T
2. rooting it using http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-note-2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-2-easiest-method/
3. installing ROM Manger
4. flashing to N7105 using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028166
My device does say that it's been modified (and I can't get OTA updates). I'm wondering, what is triggering the triangle to come on?
So I have finally found my answer. I just took a risk. It seems like as long as the triangle away app can see that model as SGH-i317, it will not cause a brick... at least this is my answer.

There's not a triangle. The app just clears the flash counter on our device.

Hello @serein1,
Are you 100% sure you completed the saferoot instructions completely? Also, a good way to test if you do have root is to download Root Checker Also from mine and my friends experience with samsung repairs, they don't care about having a rooted status or a custom status if it has to do with hardware. But, Not everyone is the same at samsung ... Also check if Knox is voided because safe root does not trigger Knox to be disabled. Lastly, if you don't want to risk not getting it repaired I would flash Stock rom using Odin.
Downgrade to stock 4.1.2 rom, then root it, use triangle away to reset the counter and then do the compete unroot.
Done.

I am sorry to hijack the topic but have about the same prob.
eally just need a link for a stock rom 4.1.2 and the instructions to make it work with odin.
I mean where to put the files in pda phone and so on.
Thanks everyone
I have tried the instructions as mentioned for the safe root
it gives error unsupported device and then goes away
there's another thing I have noticed the safe root command prompt window on the top says S4 and not note 2 however I have downloaded the safe root from the note 2 forum section
The knox counter is already set to 1 now DAMN
I also would like to go back to the 4.1.2 and while downgrading using the ODIN it says unsupported on the phone screen and doesn't flashes the phone
How do we downgrade from the 4.3 that has the knox to the 4.1.2
thanks again

Try to find some firmware on sammobile site or here on xda (just search for the word stock).
After that You put the phone into a download mode, connect it to a PC and choose the downloaded (extracted) firmware under the pda/ap button.
Thanks that worked and it is back to stock now.
Now just get the flash counter back to 0 again.
Everything worked out fine and is temporarly replaced by an s3

@ikkeenjij36 how come you can downgrade to stock 4.1.2? Can you show me? What I know is that, bootloader from MK4 above cannot be downgraded, unless you're MJ5 and you need to use Dr.ketan bootloader patch.

I'm assuming you have upgraded to some other model kitkat rom and want to revert back to sprint rom. I had the same problem yesterday it turns out knox on those kitkat roms forbids you from going back to lower version rom. What I did was to odin ne2 rom and it went smoothly.
