I'm kind of stuck here. I'm not big into flashing roms and stuff.....but had issues with the one ROM I flashed 2 years agao so I thought I'd upgrade to CM10 finally. I flashed it properly using CWM and had a working rom....but forgot todarkside super wipe and to install the gapps.zip. So I thought I'd just do it over again. Everything seemed fine in the reinstallations of all 3.....but when I started the phone up it got stuck on a boot loop on the Cyanogen animation. No big deal....I'll just flash it again. Go into recovery mode.....wipe the data/cache.....it freezes on the cache. Try to flash the rom, cWM , the old rom, anything.......it gets stuck on the first "Installing....." . Not good. Can't do anything in CWM.
So I read a million webpages trying to figure out what to do next......someone else had to have had this problem. Seems like my only option is to go through Odin and flash it there. I make sure I get the USB drivers from Samsung and install those first. The installation goes through no problem......I reboot....and then try to plug in my phone via Download Mode. I make sure I use the USB cable that came with my phone and use a powered port on the back of my computer (XP btw). Windows recognizes it with its usual bull**** fanfare of 3 different notifications......"Found New Hardware!" then it says Found! "MSM8x60" then it says Windows failed to fully install new hardware. In the Device Manager its shown as the "Samsung Mobile USB CDC Composite Device" with the dreaded yellow exclamation mark on it. I tried uninstalling the drivers....rebooting.....and then reinstalling. No luck. Tried an older driver package.....no luck. I've spent hours trying every combination with no luck. I can't get Windows to recognize it....or more importantly.....Odin to recognize it. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Sorry for my English.
A lot of different things can happen if you are not using the correct version of recovery. The latest recovery doesn't always mean it will flash properly. For example I had to use TWRP 2.6 for 4.3 based ROM and had to roll back to TWRP 2.5 for some other versions of a rom. I don't know which version of CM you are using but maybe try TWRP or another version of CM.

Yeah....that makes sense. But how do I flash a different version of CWM? I can't get the phone detected by Odin.
Resolved.....tried a couple of other PCs....found one that worked

i think some ppl might get on u for not posting in this q&a. nevertheless, i feel ur anxiety.
i was able to get out of a bootloop once by deleting my copy of ODIN and downloading a new one. for some reason my old program seemed to corrupted/not working.
other times i've had trouble getting device recognized errors were due to cables/sometimes it seemed like if i didn't enter recovery prior to plugging in the usb i would get the error and had to re-start into recovery over again if i messed up the order.
there's definitely more info out there if u dig around in Q&A this was just off the top of my head.
Download Samsung drivers again, and use sfhubs one click no data. Most of the time its the drivers, especially since you said it doesn't recognize.

thanks for the help guys yea sorry about wrong placement. I already tried reinstalling the drivers i even tryied reinstalling kies and download the drivers 3 times to make sure. as far as cables i tried 2 samsung ones that come with the phone and i tried a HTC one that i got from my EVO LTE and still no dice
-edit: is there a way to acually manually point it to a certain driver by using the have disk feature and using a .inf?
Basically, I have nothing on my Galaxy Nexus (rooted and unlocked), no ROMS no backups, nothing. I've been trying absolutely everything and I don't know how I could get it to work. I have ClockworkMod Recovery and I've tried wipe data/factory reset then rebooted the system and it still gets stuck on the Google screen with the unlock symbol under it. The backups also don't work (backup, restore, image, restart, stuck on google screen) So... does anybody know what I can do to get past the google screen.
P.S I've tried to connect it to the computer and it doesn't show up in computer/ doesn't install (windows 8) I have the Universal Naked Driver installed and it shows up in devices but when I click it, it just shows the properties.

Just to clarify, have you tried moving a freshly downloaded ROM from a computer to the phone in CWM and flashing the ROM from CWM?
What was the last thing you did on it while it was working? Did it stop working because of damage (drops, water, etc)? If you can't get it to show up on your computer then there is no way to use the toolkit to unroot and wipe. I will be more then happy to try to help you out cause I really hate when things don't work. I'm just not sure what would cause your phone to just... die!
What were u doing when u phone stopped working. Where u flashing a ROM, kernel, installing an app, u dropped it? If u gnex shows up under Device Manager(windows), try with the gnex toolkit to flash stock.

I was flashing a Kernel (just realised now... so it wasn't a ROM) and it just got stuck on the google screen :/ The kernal is still there, I think it's the franco nightly kernel and it's the wrong one, it's for JB when I should have used the ICS one (4.0.4). If you're wondering why I flashed the JB one, it was an accident :/ I had both the kernels and copied the wrong one.
Forgot to add, the device doesn't show up or doesn't get recognised by the toolkit :/
A way to fix it would be to install fastboot on your computer and boot your phone into boot manager and then use fastboot to boot the correct kernel via USB. There are how to's on how to go about this. Once you get it up and running you can figure out what else might be wrong. Not a hard fix, just a little time.
I got it to work! There was something weird going on with the phone connecting to my laptop, basically, it only shows up on one of the USB ports which is.. odd. Anyway I just used fastboot and pushed the correct kernel onto the "sd card" of it. Thanks for everything ^^
I've been flashing nightlies for CM11 from their website for a while now using the latest CWM, and I've been reading up on Open Recovery scripts and apparently CWM isn't compatible which would make flashing nightlies so much easier.. So I used the goo.im app in the Play Store to flash the latest TWRP for my Note 2, it said flash complete and I went to go check it what the recovery looks like and it's not getting past the splash screen. I've tried putting it in download mode to see if there was anything I could flash to fix it, and my PC isn't picking it up through Odin. What can I do? I've let it sit at the splash screen for a while now and it's doing nothing. I've switch USB ports on my PC, I've even reinstalled the SAMSUNG_USB_DRIVERS, and it's still not reading the device through Odin, but it's sitting here at the Odin download mode. Thanks for any help in advance guys. Was there anything I was supposed to do before flashing the TWRP recovery .img?
Edit: and just for clarification.. I did Google search a few queries related to my question and got no real clear answers. I know I'm still kind of new, but I'm not dumb either. Haven't had too many issues switching roms etc, just switching recoveries.
Edit2: Another thing to add, is when you plug the Note 2 into the computer, it reads it as "Gadget Serial". I updated to Odinv3.09 and it's not reading my Note 2 so I could flash stock firmware.
So maybe a month ago I decided to upgrade to nc2 firmware and bootloader so I could use sprint port.
I used mobile odin to flash route66 and all went well until I discovered that I lost root because i didnt install properly. Not easy when your usb doesnt connect to pc! Anyways, i was finally able to root with an apk i found here and got twrp working. Good thing I made a backup. Every time I install a rom it never boots up. Looks like it just turns off. Even if I try to power on it wont do anything but vibrate once. No logo screen or anything
I have to boot to recovery and restore from there. Am I missing something? I get succsesful install but nothing happens after. I tried sprint port and likewise rom. same thing happens
Yeah sorry but that will happen when you update with mobile Odin, you need to update with PC version. Try different cable, usb ports, uninstalling kies, reinstalling drivers, even different computer
I got the Tab Pro 12.2 a couple of weeks ago (refurb). It worked flawlessly, so I decided to root it, etc. It no longer works.
Two points.
(BOOT 1) - On a 'normal' boot it will get past the blue swirl with about 1 second of audio, then stops with "SAMSUNG" on the screen.
(BOOT 2) - On a Pwr on/Vol- (hard) boot, it will come up with "press vol +)" at which time it boots to ODIN. No way can I get it to boot to TWRP (see following)
Conditions: Windows 10 Tech Preview, Dell XPS 18 (USB 2 and 3), latest USB driver from Samsung, ODIN 3.10, Kies 3. The tablet connects with ODIN.
I loaded CF-Auto-Root (CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900.tar.md5). Success, BUT tablet reboots to BOOT 1, above.
I loaded "openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-v2wifixx.img.tar". Success, BUT reboots to BOOT1 above.
If I do a "hard" boot, I'm back with ODIN. TWRP won't boot. Tried the same with CWM (getting stupid here). Boots to ODIN. Basically, I can't boot into any recovery program.
Tried loading "SM-T900_XAR_1_20140508111550_703bt27ewy.tar". Again, loads but no joy.
Loaded the original ROM from SamMoblie. Again, no dice.
Am I screwed or what? Please help if you can. Thanks.

Try a different ODIN version.
I've come up with something similar in the past.
ODIN reports OK but nothing is really written to the Tab.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried a few versions of ODIN. One or two of the older ones didn't work at all.. Currently using 3.10.6. Maybe I'll go back and retry a couple.
With tablet in download mode: I tried Kies and it reported the tablet as an unrecognized device. Tried ADB. It didn't see the tablet at all.
Any great insights (or guesses) would be appreciated!
Thanks

Plug in the Tab and check in your computer device manager list that the device shows connected to the USB port and the drive installed is Samsung Android ADB Interface, if it isn't change it to this driver.
Make sure you are using the original USB cable and its plugged directly into the PC and not via any Hubs.

Try loading this in odin(P900XXUANB3-RecoveryImg.tar) then see if you can get into stock recovery and wipe cache and data to return to default settings. See if your stock rom loads.... If so then
flash CF-Auto-Root-v1awifi-v1awifixx-smp900.tar.md5 in odin then reboot
If all is working then flash
openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.0-v2wifixx.img.tar
instead of the openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-v2wifixx.img.tar( this seemed to not load on my tablet pro 12.2)
See if it boots up for you.
Then you can install custom rom if you want from twrp.

Thanks for the advice. I couldn't find a download link for the 2.8.0.0 but found openrecovery-twrp-v1a3gxx.img.tar. I'm guessing it's for a 3G version but it works. I used ODIN3 v3.10.6.exe on the PC. So far, I have twrp and the stock ROM running and everything works nicely. I still haven't managed to root it. Keeps getting stuck on cache. Can it be rooted after twrp has been loaded?
I actually may try to use the tablet for a while instead of continually poking and reloading it.
