I've been flashing nightlies for CM11 from their website for a while now using the latest CWM, and I've been reading up on Open Recovery scripts and apparently CWM isn't compatible which would make flashing nightlies so much easier.. So I used the goo.im app in the Play Store to flash the latest TWRP for my Note 2, it said flash complete and I went to go check it what the recovery looks like and it's not getting past the splash screen. I've tried putting it in download mode to see if there was anything I could flash to fix it, and my PC isn't picking it up through Odin. What can I do? I've let it sit at the splash screen for a while now and it's doing nothing. I've switch USB ports on my PC, I've even reinstalled the SAMSUNG_USB_DRIVERS, and it's still not reading the device through Odin, but it's sitting here at the Odin download mode. Thanks for any help in advance guys. Was there anything I was supposed to do before flashing the TWRP recovery .img?
Edit: and just for clarification.. I did Google search a few queries related to my question and got no real clear answers. I know I'm still kind of new, but I'm not dumb either. Haven't had too many issues switching roms etc, just switching recoveries.
Edit2: Another thing to add, is when you plug the Note 2 into the computer, it reads it as "Gadget Serial". I updated to Odinv3.09 and it's not reading my Note 2 so I could flash stock firmware.

i think some ppl might get on u for not posting in this q&a. nevertheless, i feel ur anxiety.
i was able to get out of a bootloop once by deleting my copy of ODIN and downloading a new one. for some reason my old program seemed to corrupted/not working.
other times i've had trouble getting device recognized errors were due to cables/sometimes it seemed like if i didn't enter recovery prior to plugging in the usb i would get the error and had to re-start into recovery over again if i messed up the order.
there's definitely more info out there if u dig around in Q&A this was just off the top of my head.
Download Samsung drivers again, and use sfhubs one click no data. Most of the time its the drivers, especially since you said it doesn't recognize.
Sent from my Blu Kuban powered Epic (4g lol) Touch
thanks for the help guys yea sorry about wrong placement. I already tried reinstalling the drivers i even tryied reinstalling kies and download the drivers 3 times to make sure. as far as cables i tried 2 samsung ones that come with the phone and i tried a HTC one that i got from my EVO LTE and still no dice
-edit: is there a way to acually manually point it to a certain driver by using the have disk feature and using a .inf?
Hey guys,
I've gotten myself into a bit of a pickle. I've been using custom roms for a while, I installed Illusion Rom (4.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2352640), some time after that clock work recovery stopped working - I have no idea why.
Tonight I tried to fix it with Odin and Samsung Galaxy Note2 ToolKit. Using Toolkit, I tried to launch clock work recovery from there, unfortunately it's put my phone into a bootloop no matter what I do. I can only access Download mode and my computer isn't recognising it in Odin. I'm not concerned about my existing data as I regularly make backups.
I'd really appreciate some help! Thanks.
tl;dr - How do I factory reset just using download mode?
I highly recommend looking at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38169310
Saved my bacon, it did. The only way I got Odin detect the phone was
switching the phone off, plugging it into the PC, firing up Odin and then
entering Download mode. Strange how that's the only way it'd work, but
there you go.
EDIT: It's stated in the above thread that it's only for people who are new
to XDA, but the links that are provided to Odin and the recovery package
are invaluable.
My bacon has also been saved. Thank you!
I have Cyanogenmod 10.1 (stable) installed; the other day it crashed while I was on Instagram, rebooted itself, and wouldn't go past the spinning circle screen. Tried rebooting it, now it won't go past the screen before that, with the blue Cyanogenmod man and the Samsung logo.
I have TWRP 2.5.0.0 installed with it, which I don't know how is possible being that the file systems are incompatible, so unless I used Odin to install CM10.1, I don't know how I did it without installing Clockworkmod Recovery over TWRP.
I've been trying to fix it for a couple days now (I'm kicking myself for not getting around to posting here sooner). When I go into TWRP it asks me for a password (which I've never set, I assume it's asking me because that's all it knows to do when the file system is incompatible), which I click cancel at every time, and when I try to do just about anything (including installing new ROMs or recoveries from within TWRP) it gets errors when trying to mount any partitions on the device, so I can't change anything on the phone at all.
I've tried re-installing TWRP AND Clockworkmod Recovery with Odin, and they succeed, but when the phone tries to reboot, the screen just turns off and nothing happens, and I have to take the battery out to do anything else.
So right now I'm totally screwed unless I can fix this thing. I'd like to not have to drop 200 on a Nexus 4 after only a year or having this phone I bought brand new, especially with the Nexus 5 already coming out later this year...can somebody help me???
EDIT: I should clarify that I can access recovery and download mode
If you can get into download mode you can flash a stock image to your phone and restart from scratch. Download the proper stock image from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625 and flash it in odin.

I should've clarified that I've tried this with a bunch of roms, and it just shows SBA2 in the status box forever. I left it for a full hour before and it never changed.
According to this page http://www.alliance-rom.com/community/wiki/bricked-android/ reformating your external sd card may help. It also links to something I personally have never heard of but apparently this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15330252 can help unbrick any samsung phone that's flashable with odin.

I don't have anything worthy to contribute as most everyone on these forums is far more experienced than me. I do however run into problems - a lot. Working through those problems is quite possibly more enjoyable than experimenting with new ROMS, and I wouldn't be able to work through any of them without the help of this forum. That said, I'll give the short version of my problem first as I'm sure not everyone wants to read the lengths I've been to to unbrick this phone.
I used CyanogenMod's app to root my phone and flash CM10 (which felt like a bad idea at the time). I love CM10 on my Kindle, but I wasn't the biggest fan on my SIII. My phone updated to CM11; which I really hated, and in an effort to flash a new ROM I got stuck in a boot loop. Now I cannot boot into any recovery at all.
The long version:
I am a novice when it comes to flashing, but I'm learning as I screw up. This is the 4th device I've rooted and my second SIII. I have been using TWRP on my Kindle and I totally love it. After having CWM installed by CM's app, I was unable to flash any ROM, period. Rather than hurl my phone against the wall (which I really wanted to) I tried to flash the TWRP .img file, but no matter how I tried the only recovery I could get to was CWM. Finally I used CWM to flash the latest version of PAC-MAN - which I had bootloop problems with on my Kindle - and consequently found myself in a bootloop. I would get the regular Samsung screen, then the CM Samsung screen, then the PAC-MAN screen which it would stay in forever. Throughout all of this the only way I could access a bootloader was by restarting the phone into recovery from Android. Using the "Volume-up, Home Button, and Power" combo doesn't work. I can't remember it ever working to get me to recovery. Anyway, I now have the Dongle Jig which gets me to Download Mode and I can flash the Stock ROM through Odin, but now my boot is stuck on the black Samsung screen. I have also tried flashing the TWRP .tar file through Odin with no luck.
I'm open to any and all suggestions.

You was not on the OTA MK3 build prior to all the flashing right? If not..
Flash TWRP 2.6.3.0 .tar in Odin (I read I am not the only one having trouble with 2.6.3.1)
Reboot Recovery

I'm not sure what OTA MK3 is, but I just tried flashing TWRP 2.6.3.0 via Odin with no luck. What is OTA MK3 and how would it affect my ability to flash?
Hello all,
I've got a Tab 3 7.0 T210R stuck on the Samsung logo with pulsing blue background. I've read through several Samsung boot loop help threads as well as the general Loop noob helper but haven't found a fix yet.
For my stuck T210R, What I've done & can do:
Was rooted with a "patched" stock UK ROM from last March [sorry, don't recall which]
Was running fine until after I tried to install from Play the TWRP Manager, I obviously did something bad! like select wrong device maybe
I can get into Philz, TWRP, & use Odin
I don't have a recovery back up [i really don't care about restoring back to anything - just want it to work, clean slate, ya know]
Tried a couple of latest ROM's through Philz and a stock ROM XAC-T210RUEAMK1-20131122134958.zip though ODIN. They seemed to be successful but I still can't get past Samsung logo
I've tried these ROMS that seem to load but ixna on successful boot afterwards:
ODIN: KIES_HOME_T210RUEAMK1_T210RXACAMK1_1304745_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
Philz: Stock.rooted.deodexed.T210R.zip
Philz: TAB3-T210-HASSAN-ROM-V1.0-kitkat-4.4.2-Aroma-Mods-all Languages.zip
Philz: cm-10.1-20131209(1)-UNOFFICIAL-lt02wifiue.mine.zip
What's killing me is that loading new or stock ROM's SEEM to work - no errors or anything obviously indicative that I'll still be boot looping as soon as I restart. I'm quite desperate and thinking I'm truly bricked.
I haven't yet tried using ADB but if I can use ODIN and TWRP or Philz, will ADB do anything better than what I've already done? I haven't tried anything with the kernel as I can't really understand what to do there. I read and read and read the kernel threads but with my experience its really not as straight forward as rooting or flashing a ROM or software, and I could conceivably screw up worse! I'm mildly experienced at following guides to have rooted and ROM loaded a 1st gen Kindle Fire, Samsung SII skyrocket, S4, Tab 2 7.0, Tab 3 7.0.
No replies or interest? Please help
I'm I in the wrong forum? Did I offend someone? Could really use some input, please.
Any one seen this before? If you've any experience LOSING this battle, please speak up and I'll know to just resign to now owning a pretty white Samsung brick.

if i could find the "thanks" button I'd use it.
I'm traveling now but definitely try your solution. By "redo" I presume you mean load a ROM. When I wipe I also presume I'll still have custom recovery? I should still be able to ODIN, too, if needed?
thanks again
Yes exactly recovery will not go away once you have formatted the partitions you can now flash a new customed ROM or reflash original FW using Odin..Cheers
Hey buddy wanted to know if you ever found a solution for your issue? I am in the same bind you were in. Can you help guide me. I tried installing the same files you did and to no avail. I bought a Tab 3 T210R from eBay that was stuck in boot loop, I am assuming that it isn't rooted as when I would I went into download mode, it said the firmware was official.
