i also have a backup made using CWM but its on my computer . and when i try to restore it from CWM it says not found. where do i have to put it for CWM to find it
You installed a rom for a different device... this is the Note 2 forum, not Note 1. N-7105 is the id for the second generation Note and you have the first gen.
Find the factory Note 1 firmware in the Note 1 forum and flash it using odin.

You have to keep the backup in the original CWM directory in order for the recovery to detect it.
Please do your research prior to flashing anything or posting new threads. There are stickies and faq's for everything and you'll get roasted alive for asking questions without doing your due diligence.

im sorry my phone is a note II sgh i317 (at&t). i rooted it following the instructions on galaxynote2rootdotcom and then installed PA 3.99. when i installed pa 3.99 using CWM it showed me that i lost all network and that my model number change to N7105. i then flashed the cyanogenmod 10.1 and everything seemed to work fine. my model changed back to sgh i317 and i got my network back. so i tried to flash PA 3.99 again and its the same thing i lose all baseband and imei and back to that same model. so now im back to cyanogenmod and updated to 10.2 nightly but now i seem to have lost my calling app and play store.

My apologies. I wasn't familiar with the ATT variant. The EFS folder is the very first item to backup immediately after rooting the phone. You can use TWRP recovery or an efs backup/restore app from the Play Store.

You should know where to place your backup. Under clockworkmod folder then backup and place it there. Dont rename it because the md5 sums will be changed.

Greetings all.
I rooted my sgn2 using the toolkit and installed TWRP.
Then proceeded to install Omega rom.
In TWRP, I wiped cache dalvik syetem, factory reset.
I now have my IMEI as unknown and I do not have a efs backup. Is there a way to restore my imei/efs partition? I have searched all of xda without a resolution. I seriously wished I backed up my efs partition.
Please let me know if there is anything I could do.
Thank you,
William

Any suggestions?
I've seen this happen with the original note with "0" as the IMEI. i had to do a warranty swap.
So what I am gathering is that some people flashed a rom that was for the international note 2 and now they have no imei or signal is that about right? So was the rom posted in tbis fourm? Or did they just do something really stupid?

Ha your probally right. I havent gotten a chance to read up on this phone yet I worked 102 hojrs last week when I am not workin I am sleeping. But that is over now. One thing I noticed is it seems like samsung might have used one design for all the different carriers but I would assume that the software is still a little different than the international one.
hey i flashed this modem , also flashed to original stock rom, no luck i get imei as 0/00 and if i put sim card it shows searching
please helppppp thanx
Hello,
So bought my note 2 from amazon, international version, sim free.
So i rooted it and fired a custom firmware on it.
Decided i prefer having the functionality of the s pen and wanted to reinstall the original f/w.
So managed to get an original samsung firmware (BTU) csc.
All is well on it apart from my sim card does not work in it (no service).
works fine in my old phone still.
It doesn't allow me to update it over the air and kies is a nightmare.
So im stuck with a tablet at the moment that I cant update.
I think I may not have the correct original firmware but I dont know how to determine which one will work!
Any input would be appreciated....
Thanks
Dan
You seem to have stumbled upon the problem introduced by Samsung in their newest kernels (they are used in newer ROMs).
The kernels cause IMEI number to not be recognised after flashing old firmware once the new one was installed. The only recourse is to root again and flash back one of the newer roms (Phoenix, Omega or Android Revolution will do nicely) or try to find original Samsung firmware for your region, but it has to be one of DM6, DF1 or DG1 at the end of the name and flash it using Odin.
Look here and remember to match your phone model number as well as firmware region.

Efs partition is where your phones unique identifiers like imei are stored. If it gets damaged or wiped and you have no backup then your phone is a brick, pure and simple.

Try and Flash an official dme6 or dmf firmware as per above poster. If imei is still blank then your phone is a brick.
I don't know why there are so many how to root blogs on the Internet and none of them tell you how to back up efs or why it's critical. It's a complete tragedy.
I've had to restore imei once to save my gs3. Was very lucky I'd flashed an omega rom earlier and the aroma installer asked me if I'd like to do a backup and told me it's important. I heeded the developers advice and backed up said files to drop box. Now I always do it immediately after rooting - all custom recoveries give an option to back up efs.
I hope it's not too late, it's sad for people to have to learn the hard way, best of luck.

Ive just read that if you flash the latest modem you should be alright. The post to guide you on this is by Dr Ketan in the original android development section.
I dont think your phone is bricked I think if you flash the very latest modem you should be alright. Just remember when flashing anything to your phone you should always make a nandroid back up first and copy it to your pc just in case for safe keeping plus a copy of efs folder. I hope for your sake you can sort this. And remember to read thoroughly all instructions before anything else. Look here and click the read this first it should help you..

So if I install the new modem on this old firmware would that work?

I'd suggest you backup your efs before trying anything else.
Does your baseband version display now?
If you've already had your baseband updated to the new versions then you can't use it with Perseus kernel. The new modems are interdependent to the new kernels and Perseus hasn't been updated in awhile.
If baseband is newer one then you need an up to date kernel and flashing a newer firmware will obviously address this.

You have nothing to lose at the moment your phone is a semi brick. I think by reading Dr Ketans guide you will be able to get that phone working again. I take no responsibility from the following link but I think you need to give it a go. If you havent backwd up your efs folder than this link may help you. Id say download this latest modem and recovery and again I take no responsibility for your device.

Hi Guys..
please can any one help me
I lost my EFS files when i update my phone to Android 4.3 Leaked version (N7100XXUEMJ5), so when i reinstall official version of my phone (4.1.2) (N7100XXDMC3) the IMEI number changed to (004999010640000)
NOT: if i install leaked version 4.3 of android the IMEI works normally, but i need back to official version.
please can any one help me to solve this problem or can make a backup of his phone EFS files for me to restore it in my phone
finally I'm sorry about my English
I'm really sorry to be the one to tell you this but I'm pretty sure that since you lost your efs backup there is nothing anyone can do. Your efs is unique to every phone. Someone else's backup will not help you as that will make your phone's unique identifier no longer unique but the same as the person who sent you their backup. EFS contains your IMEI number.
Sorry

You should install the Android version on which you say your IMEI is normal and make a EFS backup.
You can safely use this tool to backup/restore your EFS after you flash the working ROM.
You can also use this APK form the Play Store to backup your EFS partition.
Most important, store your EFS backup somewhere safe!
Cheers!

Go to the original post and download the 4.1.2 dlk5 modem.. Flash it by cwm. And the imei will restore.
The reason that imei loses is that the baseband is not compatible with the current android version.

hi guys
i hope you can help, i am really scared, i got the null/null imei!, i first flashed uae stock from coming from revolution hd rom, after that i got another imei other than mine so i tried to flash again cwm using odin, after that i tried many times to install back the custom rom (binary is 4 now) then i tried to restore a backup of the from and the phone booted, now the disaster come, the phone is working like normal but not recognize any sim i checked the imei and got "null/null".
PLEASE tell me that there are a solution for this problem.
the phone is now at a store which is familiar with custom roms, the man said that as the binary count is 4, there is a chance that there would be no solution.
by the way, i still have a cwm backup.
any help appreciated.
What android version are you using now?

Hello All
Thank you for taking the time to read my post!
So I am new to flashing and I have a few questions, I am using Sprint in the USA I have Rooted my device using CF-Auto-Root this is working fine and no issues. SM-N910P is my build and i can not seem to find a Rom that will work with my phone as I read all the postings in the Roms I get put off as they say if i don't have the right version it will brick my phone. I cant find the CWM for the N910P. Am I doing something wrong? Should I be as worried as I am about using a different version of CWM like the one for N915P its on Sprint and its for the Note 4 Edge?
Thank you

Don't mix note 4 edge and note 4 things. Only bad can come from it.

CWM Hasnt been built officially for the trltespr, if you're using Philz CWM Its because the recovery's device model is set for "trlte" All devs build their ROMs to have a fail safe such as reading the devices model. Thats why you're getting status 7 errors upon " Not correct device".
Download twrp2 official and search trlte and download the .ZIP version for SPRINT. Go into cwm and flash twrp2. Then you can finally flash roms without the error.
If you still would like to use cwm you have to modify the updater-script within the .zip file of the ROMs and remove the failsafe commands from it to install with in philz touch.

Otherwise Devs would need to build and modify their scripts to be compatible with Philz unofficial CWM, But from time to time there will be people ( just like you ) who make mistakes and end up soft bricking or perma bricking their devices. So they always have a failsafe within the script upon flashing.
