Why don't you go and download an app that requires root to see if it works
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app

If you have an SD card in remove it, and then check.

Thats exactly what i did and it actually worked my status says official not custom anymore never wouldve thought my class10 sd card wouldve triggerd it, thanks

(Help) My camera worked and now does not load not rooted

So I just got this phone brand new in the box from insurance company and the camera started off working and now all it does is stay on a black screen when loading into the app. It doesn't load at all. This is making me and really mad I don't want to send to get a nnew phone again
Is there a way to fix this with adb or is it a hard ware issue..

Flash another rom, Myn's rom supports the cam in 004.
Same thing happened to me and I went thru 4 evos In 1 week all of them did the same thing. So I thought to myself I am extremely unlucky but then realized that there was one thing all of my phones had in common, my sd card. I saved my pics to my computer and reformated my card and sure enought it worked. So try reformating your card or try a different card and if that don't work go to sprint and raise hell.

Reading is hard, he said he is not rooted.
And yes, I had this same problem happen, after reformatting my SD card all was good. But make sure you backup your data to your pc, so you can transfer back after formatting.

Take all the pics off of your sd card and format it with the evo then replace the pics into the DCIM folder and you will be fine. It has happened to me too on my replacement phone too.
I tried format didn't work but if I put pictures back in it should work
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I have the same problem as well and I can say with confidence the sd card is the problem. I got a new evo and a new sd card all was good until I copied my old files to the new card. The camcorder stopped working until I formatted the card then it worked. Afterwards I copied my pics only to the card and it was working fine. When I moved some apps to the card it stopped working again. I'm not really sure if it's a single app that's causing that or moving apps to the card is the problem.

Whats the file name that lets the phone know it has been updated?

does anyone know the file name that tells the phone that it has been updated to FF18 so it wont tell you there is an available update?
I used sd card to clean my phone and now its telling me there is an FF18 available even thought i am updated to FF18 and rooted and phone works fine.
Are you sure it isnt the fh13 update which is the newest?

freezing "system update" then renaming update zip worked for me. I forgot what folder though I know it's on systems directory and not the sd card.

Back to Samsung

Guys I'm looking to bring my phone to Samsung to ask them to change some faulty components for me.
I've unlocked and rooted my phone.
So I saw that by locking my Gnex again. All my internal storage will be lost? Does that me all my titanium backups as well as my Cwm backups?
How do you guys deal with this?
Previously on my gs2. I just had to backup to my external sd card.
Anyone have any ideas?
Much appreciated

Last time I unrooted an factory reset I just copyed all clockwork backups to one folder on SD card(virtual) as we don't have a external one. And then just copyed it all over to my laptop. Once ready just re-root phone copy/paste all files back and ur golden..
at least that worked for me.
Heaven tried on titanium files tho
Cheers

You're gonna want to take all of your personal data off before you factory reset and set it all back to stock anyways.
Takes ages to transfer backups over doesn't it. So long that it crashes. What do you mean by virtual drive?

The Galaxy Nexus doesn't have a physical SDcard. It has a "virtual" spot that acts like an SDcard. Your files are stored there, that's where you need to take your stuff from and put on your computer. If USB transfer isn't working. Put it on WiFi & stuff them all on Dropbox or use an FTP app.
My main concern is the pad lock on the boot screen. Is there anyway to remain on my flashed rom and remove the unlocked sign? Cause i just wanna do some over the counter exchange.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Don't think so.
The lock signifies u unlocked the boot loader(90%) sure bout that.
And u cant stay on a custom ROM with it locked. Unless someone found a way around it.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Someone has to find a way! My god it's quite trouble some to move them big files.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Also. If u think that the store won't be able to the the diff between u being unlocked or not. U can get "logo me" from market and change the unlocked pad lock to a pic if a locked one. So phone is still rooted unlocked but looks stock in boot process

There's an app called BootUnlocker that let's you lock and unlock your phone within android without losing root.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
You don't have to take it to Samsung you could always take it to a 3rd party phone repairer that deals with Samsung phones an doesn't care if its rooted.
Yea, its a bit pricy but worth it IMO. I paid for it and love the customization.
If u have a bit of time on or hands, u can try looking thru or system.apk file. I think its also in there but I'm not 100% on that.
Use root explorer or any other explorer and go to system/app/ and pull or system apk. Put it on or PC or laptop.
Open it with 7zip (right click , open archive. DO NOT EXTRACT) then go to red/drawable. And in the xhdpi folder look thru the pics. I believe one of them is the boot logo lock.
I'd give u exact paths and file names but I dont have my laptop on me right now.
Hope this helps

I find the most reliable way to backup your entire /sdcard contents is via ADB. I can't recall the exact syntax that works but it's so much better than trying to make it work by MTP...
adb pull /sdcard sdcard possibly? Or some variation of that. And then it just starts copying en masse, and you leave it for whatever 25-50 minutes it requires, and then you're all backed up. Restoring by adb push works well too.
If the pull gets interrupted or messed up in any way while booted into the OS, you can try again while booted into CWM Recovery. Careful when pushing entire directories back via CWM - sometimes this can leave you with messed up permissions and then you will be unable to edit/delete/create files in some places. More info about how to fix that in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22970837&postcount=14
But yeah once you backup your entire internal storage, including whatever nandroid backup you need to get back to your custom setup, you can flash it all clear back to wiped stock without any concern of data loss.

[Q] Samsung App2SD Update???

Good day I'm planning to get a S4 Mini soon, likely the 3G version, but I don't want to root so I was wondering whether Samsung has added Apps2SD ability to it yet.
When they updated the full S4 Samsung said they were also going to add App2SD ability to the S4 Active and Mini and I was just wondering whether that has happened yet?
On the Samsung App store there is an App2SD-like app which shows support for the S4 Mini so can any of you use that app?
I'd prefer not have to root and use Link2SD....so if this hasn't happened yet then I might have to get at getting an S3 instead, despite that one not being extremely hard to operate one-handed.
When I bought my phone about a month ago apps2sd didn't work. I managed to transfer my apps to the sd with "Folder Mount" but this app requires root.
Hi I'm new to the s4 mini section.
To be perfectly honest, this phones internal memory is large enough for most things.
If you have multiple large games that you wish to keep, the quickest way is an app called gl to sd.

App2SD is supported.
Use an app called AppMgr III (formerly called App2SD)

Yup I'm currently stock, nothing messed with. You can go to application manager and select Move to SD.
Read my previous post because I just edited it.
Edit: but remember if an app has not been designed with App2SD in mind, then you can't move it.

Thats true, it will copy to the emulated sd card which is in fact your internal storage, thus resulting to fail moving as the app is already there.

App2sd is not yet supported. When i used to boot up AppMgr3 on samsung stock fw update (July/Aug '13 update) i got "Your device is not supported because the sdcard is being emulated" and resulting in not reading the extSdcard instead.
Sent from my GT-I9195 using xda premium
Oh darn. Perhaps the update has only been released in Eradica's region and not in your region yet/or not yet released by your carrier?
I don't know about any new samsung stock updates as i'm not running stock firmware ever since CM alphas. I failed to mention that i use CyanogenMod 10.1.3 firmware, so im not really having space issues.
Also i could always flash my kernel and rom back to original stock if any means necessary due to warranty void.
Sent from my GT-I9195 using xda premium
Well that explains it then because the is a function Samsung is specifically adding back to it's S4 line and perhaps also some S3 models with an update. Android JB which your CM is based on doesn't allow native App2SD anymore.
Ok, I just got my S4 Mini LTE version yesterday and I can confirm that Samsung have in fact released the update because I have the Move to SD card function for most of my downloaded applications on the stock 4.2.2 version.
