[Q] Rooted but can't uninstall apps - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I've just rooted my S4 Mini following the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980 (I didn't add the optional step of flashing the custom kernel because, in all honesty, I've no idea what it means).
Root Checker tells me that the root was successful. However, I'm still unable to remove the annoying apps that came preinstalled on my phone - which is the reason I wanted to root in the first place! I go to Apps - Uninstall but the only ones I have the option to remove are the ones I've installed myself.
Is there something I need to do that I'm missing or has something gone wrong?
Thanks in advance. Apologies if I've missed something obvious!

Just install titanium backup and uninstall them from there!

Ah, as simple as that. I'd thought you might be able to do it the same way as with other apps.
Thanks for your assistance!

Newbie Questions about EVO Rooting

I'm coming from a rooted port of Android for the Sprint Touch (Vogue) (Thanks DZO, Myn, and company!!!) and WOW EVO is amazing.
Anyways I have a few questions I need help with getting started I've been reading a lot but I'm still overwhelmed with the wealth of info:
#1. I updated the OTA - does this mean I can't root yet until the new OTA is rooted?
#2. I would like to go to a new rom without all the junk. I don't use sense, or any of that other fancy stuff running in the background. Is there a rom you would recommend?
#3. In the past, I had a rooted device where I could modify the androidinstall.tar and remove .apk's I didn't want. Is this possible with the current situation on EVO?
#4. With all these roms, do you generally clean wipe everything each time? or do settings / apps / configs remain?
Thanks!!!
I can try to answer your questions.
1. Unless something has come out recently off you are stock and did the update no way to root yet.
2. I just use stock ROM and remove what I don't use.
3. I personally use "root explorer" once you are root you can either unlock nand and use out to remove bloatware or you can adb and remove with your computer.
4. I'm not to sure about those commands, I haven't ever used those.
Look at the sticky in any forum and go to the ROM and Guide link and everything you need to know its there. Keep a close lookout I'm sure somebody will figure out how to root the update soon.

Thanks!
Yeah I love root explorer, that's how I used to change things on my old phone. I have it installed but I guess I just have to wait for them to root the update. Maybe I shouldn't have updated
Oh well, knowing XDA they will probably root it by the time I'm finished typing this post. I'll keep reading those stickies... thanks for the answer though!
No problem. Yeah, never install an update till the devs ok it. Good luck.

Crap one question I forgot - without being rooted - is there anyway I can do the wireless tethering besides the standard Sprint program?
There is a program on the market called easytether. One is the lite version, which is free. The full version is 10 bucks

New to rooting and I want something like root, stock, debloated (myself)

So I am new to rooting on the note 2 and had some basic questions, I apologize in advance but some general guidance would be appreciated.
I would like to do the following..
1. Root - Thought there was a one click root or even a APK that can do this.
2. Run Stock Firmware but:
- Debloat it - Manually removed the apps I dont want (I assume I would use Titanium backup?)
- Have unlimited multiview
- Be able to move as many apps as I want to my SD Card... will this hinder performance?
Any guidance would be appreciated... Lastly would it be easier if I just download a debloated firmware?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975560 <---- completely stock + Root and SU . You can debloat yourself. Download odin and install from there doesnt trip counter.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055474 < ---- and another with deodexed version as a choice
I've not done either but here these are the 2 best stock roms. I think once we get the 4.1.2 update this might be the first device I've never rooted . battery life is great , diggin the touchwiz. Is polished to my liking without mods. What more can ya ask for. But good luck to you !!

Another option you have is to use CF-autoroot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960784
This is the option I used and it's as close to stock as possible with root access. Very very easy to do. Once you root this way, your device status will say modified so you won't be able to receive updates OTA but you can always get it through Samsung Kies (or there are ways to change the modified status to normal). After rooting you can choose which apps to remove by using Titanium Backup. One suggestion while removing bloatware... TB has an option to either freeze an app or uninstall it. You may want to consider freezing the bloatware you don't want first before uninstalling it just to make sure you don't accidentally uninstall something really important. Either way, just make sure you make a backup on TB before uninstalling anything. Good luck!

BTW why do you want to move as many apps as possible to an external SD card? I know 16gb isn't the biggest size for internal memory (I know it's more like 11gb) but I haven't had to worry about running out of space from apps alone. It's my pictures/videos that are eating up a lot of space but I'll probably end up moving those to my external SD later
I would say root and use the newest modified/stock deodexed rom.

[Q] Help with rooting

I tried to root my LG G3 5.0.1 using this method lg-phones.org/guide-to-root-lg-g3-with-android-5-0-1-lollipop.htm
Root checker is telling me that root is not properly installed.
Before I try anything else, I wanted to check with you guys to make sure I do not screw anything up.

On a side note, I ran an app called "root check" and it is stating I am rooted.
Anything I should do?

Well what do you wanna do ?
If the root is done, this thread is done ?
But if you ask what next, it's installing a recovery so you can change ROM ..., I can let you search in the general topic there are a few methods to install recovery, I did it last week, only one worked for me, the app Autorec on GooglePlayStore.
Good luck

I'm a computer savvy person, but this was my first experience with rooting. I just wanted to be sure I did it right. Turning my LG G3 from T-mobile and debranding it. I did get a belly up icon of the little green android, with the word error under him when I tried to remove some bloatware, but a battery pull seems to have fixed that.

Best way to root my 5110?

I currently have AOSPA-L installed with PhilzRecover.
But it appears to unrooted itself somewhere along the line... PhilzRecover doesn't seem to root the device properly
What are my options here? Should I re-install stock, or is there a way to get root from my current set up.
Thanks!
Dammit! lol
I just found this thread, which mentions flashing SuperSU. All done.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/rom-paranoidandroid-5-1-d852-d855-t3101710
Leaving this here to show someone else how to do it.
Sorry

Need some help rooting my 5T

Hello everyone
I would like to root my new 5T but I have no idea where to start. Rooting is new to me so I would really appreciate it if someone could explain it to me.
I've noticed that there are alot of different ROMS available, I have no idea what the difference is between all of them and which one would be the best for me.
I'm not looking for the most complex one out there. I'm from the Netherlands so it's a bit hard for me to understand all the topics on this forum and to explain myself correctly.
All help is much appreciated! :good:

Thanks! I'll have a look at that.
I read somewhere that some apps won't work on a rooted device such as Pokemon Go and that you have to install something in order for them to work. Could someone explain this?
Some apps won't work if rooted. Your options are to either not use that app or try hiding root with Magisk (one of phone apps that manages root access). If you use SuperSU for root access or have XPosed installed, then your only option is to not use the Pokemon Go (or whatever app was giving you trouble).
