Undervolting our Note 3: - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I think that could be a good idea to post the lower voltages that are stable for our devices.
And post the CPU bin for see how much it affects the voltages.
Binning info can be found at /d/acpuclk/pvs_bin
PD: I can't post mine yet...

Mine is 3. Can this be changed to 4 for an undervolt without custom kernel? And what is the "boost_UV"? That has value of 0.

I have the same values.
And not, the binning can not be change, cause it is a hardware "problem".

From my understanding if you have a 3 you are good to go. Pvs is from 0 to 6. I have 0 which is the worst one. It is very sensitive to over clocking and especially under volting. The higher the better. Right?

i've been running uv at -75mv across the board @ bin 3. -100mv and i rebooted in less than 5 mins. if i don't have any problems with this i am probably not going to push it. even though i haven't been into modding and stuff the last year android is so good i only go after battery life really. all about stability more than anything really. eager to see what bin 5 and 6's get though.

Thats awesome. I havent uved yet im waiting for Trickster mod to get updated so I can use it. Its my fav kernel app. I know I can use others like set cpu, ad tuner, etc. I just love trickster. Im sure at -5 ill be rebooting with my big 0. Lol I feel the same way tho Sammy did an awesome job with this phone aside from all the bugs speed and stability wise. Im just looking for battery, stability and smoothnes now.

Set CPU not working for voltages BTW. Actually I am very disappointed with Samsung on this round of touchwiz. On the international note2 there was black theming everywhere, a looot less bugs and I am still running 4.1.1 because battery is so much better than .2 update. This 4.3 has white theming everywhere, lots of frustrating bugs, specially for T-Mobile WiFi call users and I guess coming from int'l note2 the battery easily smokes the note3. I didn't have LTE so all the users saying battery life is much better are coming from USA LTE note2's and running 4.1.2. The int'l note2 felt so optimized. And the tabbed settings drive me up the wall, especially because you can't swipe between tabs. I hope Samsung comes through with some good updates. Still love the phone though. Samsung needs to get on software nav button bandwagon already and stop copying apple. They've left apple in the dust and it's apparent their balls are getting much bigger with the region lock and id chips they're fixing to put in accessories. What is next?
sent from my sm-900t.

Lol...I actually havent had any bugs to speak of, wifi and everything else has been working as it should. Im also pretty happy with my battery getting 36hrs with 6.5 screen time and using it moderately. My n2 I had everything blacked out including all of my apps from TBO but on this phone I actually like the white themeing. Its different for a change. We have plenty of awesome themers here on xda that will take care of that anyway. I guess its a matter of preference and taste. I guess I got lucky with my unit as I see a lot of issues and variation between these new n3s. Im pretty sure most of it will be resolved in future updates and great roms.

Good point. Custom kernels will have different voltage values per mhz out of the box. So a starting point is really needed for comparing purposes.

No. Not custom kernels. Different PVS values will have different voltage table. I think I am @640/950 for my 300/2300mhz currently. Add 75mv to my current values and mine are running @ 715/1025mv stock.

Using the inferno kernel. Antutu scores are lower than ever (like 4400), but I've basically learned to ignore it, because all I get on every rom and kernel are whack ass random results on Antutu.
On the plus side, nenamark2 bumped up from my previous max of 27.7 fps to 31.1. It is actually the first time I've seen a variation in the fps at all, from stock to other overclock kernels.
Sometimes backgrounded apps force close, but I haven't screwed with voltages yet, just running 1350/interactive so far.

Checking out the 512 version. I wonder how much stress this causes the GPU? I imagine long sustained use of it at 512 could cause permanent damage to it? I have no idea, just wondering. Meh, who cares.... I get a new phone every 6 months.

[Q] Rom with great battery

Hi all I'm still very new to this whole rooting stuff.
I'm using aokp build 38 this is the 1st Rom I've used
And lately I'm having a much better battery life than stock. But I just want to ask if there's a much better Rom out there that has great performance and battery.
Also could you name the Roms and what are so good about them?
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Everyone has a different opinion on this. There is no one rom that gives each phone good battery. Your best bet is to just try them out yourself.
Oh okay. Thanks what would you recommend?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I personally like liquid smooth ROM and Airkernel
I'd recommend the redemption Rom.
The Dev claims that he is only fixing errors created by Google.
Ans he's right. 2 hours screen time v 4 hours is the way to go.
It's also notably faster and doesn't randomly reboot to often.
He does a video changelog for his rom. Which I believe is a characteristic of a dev who is proud of his work.
But whatever you use. Use it for at least a week.
Would be good to also mention what phone model. Gsm,Verizon, sprint.
With these kind of threads, you might as well just ask what everyone's favorite ROM is or what ROM they're currently using. You'll only rarely get a different answer, and there are already threads for all three subjects to begin with.
Guy above me has a point.
But, AOKP B39 and Franco M4 works wonders for me.

yes, lots of people hitting over 7 k
I keep it at 1500 myself, but tried at 1640 with fsync faster, cpu online and force gpu rendering with trinity kernel and stock rom gets you past the 7 k mark, try it
back on topic, seems like batman ran fine not the type of choppiness that was in spiderman, seems like its a game issue.
It's very laggy. Batman runs great but for whatever reason spiderman runs horribly for me.

It's more based on how the rom works, and the kernel yes helps with CPU and GPU scores but I noticed his GPU scores are lower than mine, one of the nation reasons I'm still stock. Because it's probably persues kernel and has issues with FPS in real world and quadrant performance.

Maybe you should consider that you're not the brightest, most experienced person in this thread before talking smack.
Exposing a component to more heat means you are shortening its life, there is no doubt about that. Those with overclocked desktop CPUs often have elaborate setups with overclocking in mind. You can't add a better heatsink, or a fan to your phone. Mobile CPUs, especially, are designed to be efficient at a certain range of clock frequencies. Moving it too far from the norm means you eventually see diminishing returns.
I've fried everything from my first Commodore 64 to my current box, and everything in between. If you think the phone can function at that level for an extended period of time without failure, best of luck to you.

Dude it was part of the whole meaning of rooting and tweaking. Checking different settings for a little bit, testing them and then reverting back to defaults. I am all for overclocking, modding, tweaking, hacking, etc. Breaking **** is the best way to learn. But that doesn't mean you should push your hardware past the point of exponentially diminishing returns, and increased risk of burning your chips out. That is, unless, you have no problem with the very real possibility that you'll need to buy a new phone.
That being said, kudos on "going plaid" with your Quadrant score

[Q] About battery life, compared to GS2

I would like to know, no ROM specific, how is battery life in general, compared to GS2 i9100. Ive been thinking on getting an S2 plus but I recently read that battery life is worse than the original S2, and I would love to hear some opinions.
Thanks!
Enviado desde mi GT-I9100 mediante Tapatalk
Well the S2 is quite old, so no matter what variant you use don't expect to much from the battery. Also since our devices are old, and many using different Roms, kernels, and varying other things. Comparing battery life is going to be difficult to do. I have the Hercules variant running cm 11 (4.4.4). Battery life is typically around 8-10 hours of usage and 13+ hours of nonusage.

I tried Wild Kernel V3 but it caused me to have random bootloops & restarts so I pretty much gave up on it after a few days.
What settings for the processor do you have?

Use V3 of Wild!, most are reporting a stable experience with it. Right now I am using Interactive governor, SIO scheduler, 96 min, 1620 max. You can try Hyper gov as well.
