I would like to know, no ROM specific, how is battery life in general, compared to GS2 i9100. Ive been thinking on getting an S2 plus but I recently read that battery life is worse than the original S2, and I would love to hear some opinions.
Thanks!
Enviado desde mi GT-I9100 mediante Tapatalk
Well the S2 is quite old, so no matter what variant you use don't expect to much from the battery. Also since our devices are old, and many using different Roms, kernels, and varying other things. Comparing battery life is going to be difficult to do. I have the Hercules variant running cm 11 (4.4.4). Battery life is typically around 8-10 hours of usage and 13+ hours of nonusage.

Seems battery wise they are very similar. And peformance? Ive read that the Exynos Mali combo performs better than the Snapdragon Adreno.

Just installed fresh 4.1.2 stock on my S2...rooted and debloated a LOT.
First full charge I got 1 day 9 hours with 4 hours screen time.
Do note 13 of those 33 total hours was on airplane mode.
Still, nothing beats stock if setup right. Location(gps) off of course.
And only used tapatalk and browser mostly.
And the 20 hours NOT on airplane mode was on WiFi. (No sim card)

Well I hate to crash the party here but I get about 24 hours battery with everything but Bluetooth turned on and location set at high accuracy. I'm running PA 4.4.4 with the Wild! kernel. It's less if I have screen on for 2 to 3 hours with music, G+ and other background apps going we're talking about 10 to 16 hours.

I am getting really good on battery time. But it seems like my screen on time is worse then before.... I am on one hour and 20 minutes of on screen time with 68 percent left. I did use a lot of four g Internet today while I was out at the outlet today.
Before I used to get about four to five hours of screen on time
I just did a AnTuTu benchmark... and i did not touch the rom/kernel in any way. And in my detailed scores it saying the clock frequency is under a GHz?? Is this thing really under clocked that much.. if so, no wonder battery life is much better. Check out the pic i attached, once again I did no changes.

Could be throttling... Or depending on when the reading was taken could be correct. 1.8ghz probably isn't required to test sd card...
I have found that with faux kernel adjusting voltages has helped dramatically with the underclocking due to heat. I really hope morfic puts adjustable volts into a future kernel as these cpus seem to be hugely over volted (ymmv of course)

Rom:FreeGS3 (GSN) R5 (thanks much redruM)
Kernel:Adama 003
Excellent battery life.
Might want to do flashes thru CWM, as it does not set off the ticker.
Although CM10 nightly builds are FAST! I am waiting for the final product here... wow.

sorry I meant screen on time
In my limited experience over the last 48 hours, the battery life seems as good or better than ICS.
Not a huge difference though. Yet.
If u run aokp cm9 based with power savings (kill data when screen is off) under volt heavily you will lose 1% an hour idle. I have NEVER seen that on any other ROM...especially jelly bean ROMs. And jelly bean lags a while lot more than ICS regardless of clock speeds.

SentinelROM has been getting very good results in terms of battery life. Some guy got 7hrs screen on, and I got 6hrs with a little battery left over.
Beats me why people would want to flash a ROM with less features and less battery life..

Maybe because Touchwiz is laggy and ugly?
Anyway, the problem isn't the screen on time, but the total battery life. In standby, Note 2 with AOSP roms seems to have some processes on that totally eat the battery.
In my case, i switched back to Touchwiz. I've definitely want a 2-day battery life, and with AOSP is still not possible, unless you don't use the phone.

I would agree with that comment back then with the galaxy s1, tw was really laggy.
But this day and age, the lag difference between tw and asop is minimal.

Because on 4.2.2 I can use dashclock on my touchscreen, I can have easily accessible quicksettings which don't take up space in my notification drawer, I can turn off the backlight for the hardware buttons and have a navbar with far more functionality, with paranoid android I can have the navbar and status bar change colour to match the app (which will also reduce status bar burn in), with rootbox/aokp I can have the status bar hide away until I either swipe it down myself or get a notification, and my phone still lasts me an entire day of my usage. I don't lose any features I didn't use in the first place, so it'd be silly not to be on AOSP in my case.

Although CM's battery file has never been as good as stock' due to high android_system usage, it shouldn't be %44 in just 4 hours.

Don't expect more with aosp/cm roms in terms of battery performance. I've tried various roms from carbon, Slim Bean to sentinel with all three kernels from Redpill, uneak and the stock kernel. I even tried to Greenify and I had almost no partial wake locks, and the most I could get out of it was 5hours screen time and maximum 12hours between each charge cycle. They still need a lot more. At the moment I've switched back to a stock based ROM giving me upto 7hours screen time on auto brightness and 24hours between charge cycle. And although, I lose all those exciting features from aosp, battery life is one of the most important factor why I got it in the first place.

I'm currently trying out CM10.1 and I'm loving it.
As its better than any other cm based roms like PA, Pac man etc
I'm really disappointed from the battery life, it drains so quickly
I tried NEAK kernel but it didn't help, can some one help me out to get good battery life out of cm10.1?
Thanks in advance.

I heard devil kernel is pretty good with battery on AOSP, also try downloading greenify from the play store. It take apps that constantly run in the background that aren't in use and hibernates them. I'm a heavy user of youtube and radios and I get around 20-24 hrs. But on light days I get over a day. I'm currently using ProBAM
The most I could ever get was always 5hours screen time and thats after using Greenify, Droid wall and uv/uc with slimbean, carbon and pa. I've heard of some people getting upto 7 hours on aosp but they never seem to share the setup, most likely in airplane mode though. Ultimately battery life was always an important factor for me so I reverted back to tw roms. Sad.
