This combo is extremely fast, low on power consumption, and maintains the stock features that make the S3 appealing but with added tweaks!

I am getting really good on battery time. But it seems like my screen on time is worse then before.... I am on one hour and 20 minutes of on screen time with 68 percent left. I did use a lot of four g Internet today while I was out at the outlet today.
Before I used to get about four to five hours of screen on time
I just did a AnTuTu benchmark... and i did not touch the rom/kernel in any way. And in my detailed scores it saying the clock frequency is under a GHz?? Is this thing really under clocked that much.. if so, no wonder battery life is much better. Check out the pic i attached, once again I did no changes.

Could be throttling... Or depending on when the reading was taken could be correct. 1.8ghz probably isn't required to test sd card...
I have found that with faux kernel adjusting voltages has helped dramatically with the underclocking due to heat. I really hope morfic puts adjustable volts into a future kernel as these cpus seem to be hugely over volted (ymmv of course)

I am using this combo, for awhile now, and it is the most stable of them all.
Rom:FreeGS3 (GSN) R5 (thanks much redruM)
Kernel:Adama 003
Excellent battery life.
Might want to do flashes thru CWM, as it does not set off the ticker.
Although CM10 nightly builds are FAST! I am waiting for the final product here... wow.

I've enabled 3G when I wasn't at home...
I used FB, Browser and Google maps..
The battery was draining quickly..
Originally on my GNEX was yakjuxw build, I flashed takju JB JRN84D and then updated it with the ota update..
I'm using jb's radio baseband and stock kernel, bootloader is la03.
I wan't to know is the battery life ok, or is it draining little bit too fast..

I gonna flash JB's bootloader to my Gnex, maybe it fixes something, if not then I have to use other radio baseband and maybe even other kernel..
I have about identical screen on time, always have. I don't have any wakelocks.
Try one of Franco's Linaro Kernels maybe. I am seeing really great improvements after switching to that kernel.
Looks about right. The max I've ever had on stock battery was a little over 3 hours, but only with light usage. I usually get a little over 2 hours on a normal day.

A little low on the screen-on time, but its not completely terrible. It ALL depends on your usage, really. Everyones use is different in so many ways.

Hey guys, just wondering what's a ROM/Kernel combo with the best battery life ? I'm on Stock right now and I get about 7hrs and 5 of those hours are on Standby lol. I tried Android Revolution with Trinity and got about 12 with about 6 of those hours on standby and 6 hours of very light usage. I did flash a rom the other day that gave me about 23hrs with light usage but I can't remember what it was >_<

The answer to this will be different for everybody, dependent on how you use your phone and for what. There is no universal answer. You have to find out what works best for you.
I know that's not a great answer, but it's the honest truth. I, personally, run Jellybro with Franco (on Wheatley), but that's for the mix of features, smoothness, and other factors.

I'm new to Android. I made a few posts on here making that abundantly clear (lol). I am just wondering, what exact part of the OS is the kernel? For example, I'm using LiquidSmooth with the default kernel that was included with that. If I were to flash the ktoonsez kernel, what changes would I see? Also, could someone point me to a site where I can download the KT kernel for LiquidSmooth 4.2.1 JellyBean Beta 2? What other kernels are there? What are the advantages of using them? And finally, where can I find them?
I'm looking for a way to conserve battery life right now, but not take away from how my phone currently looks. Sorry for asking such a stupid set of questions, but I'd like to know about this since I plan on sticking with Android. And if that's the case, I wanna learn all about the neat things I can do to make my phone customized, sleek looking, and effective.
Thanks in advance for helping out this new comer to the Android scene
The kernel is the interface between the devices software and hardware. Its basically a bundle of drivers and code to tell the hardware and software how to communicate. All computers use a kernel from windoze to OSux and Linux. Android is based around a modified version of the Linux kernel. You won't see any visual changes when you flash a kernel. And you can find em here in the development or original development sub forums
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Cool thanks for the detailed explanation. I never really took the time to look up the exact purpose of kernels in an OS but you just explained it to me perfectly.
So, are there any kernels that are better for say battery conservation and performance?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
That all depends on your settings and usage. Theres no one way to get the best battery and performance for your usage, mostly just trial and error trying out different settings and tweaks til you find what works for you. For a good battery performance balance undervolting and overclocking work well. For instance I'm on a note 2 and im overclocked to 1.8ghz and undervolted by 75mv across the board and get almost identical battery to stock, however I still gain in performance without sacrificing battery. Now if I drop my clock rate back to stock and keep the undervolting I get same performance as on stock but my battery life increases by a few hours.

I would like to know, no ROM specific, how is battery life in general, compared to GS2 i9100. Ive been thinking on getting an S2 plus but I recently read that battery life is worse than the original S2, and I would love to hear some opinions.
Thanks!
Enviado desde mi GT-I9100 mediante Tapatalk
Well the S2 is quite old, so no matter what variant you use don't expect to much from the battery. Also since our devices are old, and many using different Roms, kernels, and varying other things. Comparing battery life is going to be difficult to do. I have the Hercules variant running cm 11 (4.4.4). Battery life is typically around 8-10 hours of usage and 13+ hours of nonusage.

Do note 13 of those 33 total hours was on airplane mode.
Still, nothing beats stock if setup right. Location(gps) off of course.
And only used tapatalk and browser mostly.
And the 20 hours NOT on airplane mode was on WiFi. (No sim card)
