Hi everyone,
I bought a used Sony ZL with Cyanogenmod already installed on the phone. My question is can the seller put some kind of tracking to track the phone. For example:If I go to my mobile bank on the phone, can the seller grab my user name and password?
Thank you in advance.
Looking forward to see the answer.

I can't tell you exactly because I always buy my phones brand new from factory and unlocked. But if I was you I will format the whole phone, install a clean firmware and re-root the phone again.

Any good step by step on how to root the phone? The phone should be unlocked.
Thank you.
Phone is unlocked and rooted, otherwise cm could not be installed.
I think it would be enough to re-install CM, along with a full-wipe.

So I just need to re-install CM and factory reset the phone?

Bump!!
No just factory reset the phone.
Unless the guy looked ultra suspicious to you I don't think there isn't any mod that goes beyond an app. He could have hard coded his own CM build but again so much trouble, its like cooking your own ROM.
So a simple factory reset is enough.

Hi all,
Great news on Cyanogen 7.1 making it's way to the Arc, the process doesn't seem quite as simple as it did back when I put Cyanogen on my HTC Hero.
Is it even possible on an Xperia Arc locked to Orange UK, has anyone had any luck?
I think I have issues around the locked bootloader. Clockword Recovery MOD doesn't list the phone, no matter what the official Cyanogen Installation instructions say and when I try to unlock the bootloader using the Sony Ericsson instructions I'm unable to progress beyond Step 10.
hxxp://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions - Push and hold the unlock button* on your phone at the same time as you connect the phone to the computer with a USB-cable. See the note in the bottom of the page for information on what button to hold while connecting your phone to a computer.
I believe I'm supposed to be seeing a blue LED at this point and that no blue LED means no joy for ever?
Thanks for any pointers!
Currently running 2.3.2

You're not able to unlock Operator locked handsets so you'll need to use one of the paid methods unless you have access to SETool.
Thank you so much for helping a first time poster - this was the sad conclusion I was drawing towards.

Worth every penny and is the method I used, it's ridiculously simple.
Although.... if I'm using the X10 Flash Tool to flash the generic UK ROMS from the XDA site, does this mean that my bootloader is unlocked and I can put Cyanogen 7.1 on my Xperia Arc?
Thanks in advance, I'm so excited I might wee.
still waiting for the progress

No.
FlashTool has nothing to do with the bootloader.

ok guys i just picked up a play for att. sucks cause i have tmobile and wont get the 3/4g data. im almost always in wifi spots anyway so no big deal.
anyway i have already called att and got the phone sim unlocked. now if i think i understand this correctly this should be the order to follow. if you guys can confirm and provide latest links i would appreciate greatly.
1. sim unlock (done)
2. unlock bootloader (not yet)
3. root (not yet)
4. load rom (not yet)
correct??? did i miss anything? any preferred method on any of these? please advise.
thanks!!!
First of all, if you bought a xperia PLAY, you should probably post in the xperia PLAY forums.
Second of all, questions go in the Q & A forum.
To answer your question, that's pretty much the right order.

That repair button didn't work?
For img flash you can use flashtool.
You don't need root or anything to use flashtool on your phone.
Just pick correct .ftf for your phone and flash it to the phone.
Do normal firmwares work on at&t's 4G version?

If you were rooted before you don't need to re-root unless you purposely unrooted it. IF you aren't rooted anymore superoneclick or the zergrush(however it's spelled) is the easiest. I'm 99% sure you don't have an unlocked bootloader though, so you have very few options. I'd say re-root if you need to and unlock your bootloader so you can flash flash and flash custom roms like crazy

You need to pay Setool credits in order to unlock the bootloader. Unlocking the bootloader allows you to lose the sin lock as well, so you could have killed two birds with the same stone.

ya i just found the website. seems like thats the one everyone is sent to on this site.
im wondering now that im rooted if i can clean this stock rom up enough to use on a daily basis. i mean im using tmobile on the device so sharing internet would only be edge lol. i guess the only thing i really want ics for is that fact that its ics.
open the dial pad and use this code*#*#7378423#*#* . Then go to -> "Service Info" -> "Configuration".
If it says unlock bootloader = no, then you have to use the paid service, if yes, then you can do it for free yourself.
Hello,
I recently tried to update my Xperia ZL L35H (purchased in China) to the latest 10.3.A.0.423 firmware. I chose the C6502 variant because it seemed that this was the same model with some regional variations. All worked well, until I tested the mobile data connection, which was non-existent. Considering that both L35H and C6502 both use HSPA, this incompatibility with the C6502 firmware was surprising. I even used the AOKP ROM for awhile and had no issues with data connectivity.
What's worse, I had my CWM backups on internal storage. My bad, I know. Updating to the 10.3.A.0.423 erased my internal storage, so, no more stock firmware backups.
I would be most grateful if some one could help me either:
*Help me find a L35H firmware, or
*Help me troubleshoot the data connection on the C6502 10.3.A.0.423 firmware.
L35h
Glad to see someone else has the L35h. I'm afraid I can't help you with your problem, but I was wondering if you were able to root it, and how?
I rooted mine with Bin4ry's script, but then made the mistake of upgrading, not knowing that it would remove the root. (I'm completely new to Android and had no idea that the phone would come with a bastardized version of Android that doesn't even allow a Google account to be on it, without rooting.) Now I'm on 10.1.1.A.1.253, but none of the rooting scripts will root it now.
I rooted the 253 using :
http://www.droidkube.com/how-to-root-sony-xperia-zl-and-install-cwm-recovery/
Then lost root after updating to 10.3.A.0.423. I rooted that using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43288981
Thanks, I might have to do it this way ultimately. I'm afraid of destroying my phone completely, but maybe it's the only way I'll be able to do it.

Maybe you could help me out here. What 253 variant did you use? Does everything work on it? What shows for "Model Number" under "About Phone" in settings? Could you post a download link for me?
I got it to work. I'm currently using the C6503, but the C6502 might have worked as well.
The key in to go into Settings/Xperia and click on "Internet settings". Afetr a brief download, my 3G data was back!
Everything appears to be working fine! No more L35H!

You have to register and log in to activate the download link on the xperiablog page. Both the C6503 and the C6502 worked for me. Supposedly, the C6503 adds LTE support, but I don't know if there's a hardware difference to reflect that. I've been using this firmmware for a week now, and it's been flawless.
Also, check out Doomlord's easy rooting toolkit (for root) and XZDualRecovery (for CWM and TWRP) here on XDA, both of which work flawlessly on this firmware as tested on my device.
Check out my post on this page if you're disappointed with the stock sound volume limitation.
And don't forget the "thanks" button if you appreciate my help

I'd go with whichever one matches where you're at. I'd have to look it up to know for sure. Both the Indonesia and the MEA (Middle East?) ones worked on mine, and I'm in China. Some locations use the same bands, others don't. I'm no expert in how that works. I might be wrong here, but I think the Settings/Xperia/Internet Settings auto-patch takes care of that for you. My 3G (or any data connection) didn't work until I took care of that.

Haven't noticed any problem like that. Or any real problems. Maybe the notification/SMS sounds are a bit wonky, but nothing that's really bothered me or is especially noticeable. Am still getting notices about how "this version of Android doesn't allow in-app payments" or something like that. I expected those to go away. But maybe it's just because I'm in China with a China Mobile SIM.
Hi Guys! I too brought sony xperia L35H from china....and would like to flash the MEA C6503 version. I installed the flash tool and made the FTF file ready. while just to make sure everything is alright i connected my phone and opened the flash tool. It says "device connected with USB debugging off", although i have enabled usb debugging in my phone. Do i have to install the adb as well or am i missing something. Any help is highly appreciated! Thanks

No.
You cannot install anything that requires a custom kernel. Only operating systems based on stock can be used because they depend on the stock Sony kernel. As such, you cannot go above the firmware Sony currently has out which is 4.2.2.
Currently there is no workaround for the 'Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No' issue many users including myself are facing.

I know dude. Trust me. I've been tirelessly trying to unlock my bootloader, but from what I understand the only way to do it is to SIM unlock the phone and then have your service provider set you up with a Sony tech that can unlock the BL, but I have no idea how to do it. I owe Bell some cash -- not enough to lose service mind you -- but they're refusing to help me, so in a few days I'm trading my ZL for a friend's SG Note.
I wouldn't expect a developer to come through with a workaround. This issue has been present on previous Sony phones, and I don't think a workaround has ever been established in the past.
I know is pointless what I am going to write but I have not need to change anything in the ZL. The phone is already pretty good for what it can do and we will get 4.3 directly from Sony soon.

Actually we'll get 4.4 soon, so that's why the BL isn't a big problem to me because all I want is for the phone to be updated. Apparently it comes out somewhere in December.
I have a problem, the phone turns off if you pull out the power cord, but is not the battery, the phone starts, and if you enter recovery mode does not turn off, the problem is when you start android. I'm going to say what and done with phone since yesterday until now that I am writing to know if anyone can help me.
Yesterday install CM 10.2 final version. Previously install the recovery needed to install it. Then install the applications I use regularly (whit Titanium backup). After trying it, I uninstall it, try to return to the Rom eXistenZ, so install 10.3.1.A.2.67 C6502 Generic LAM (tft, who had previously) then root with Kingo Android ROOT, then install a dualrecovery for ZL from here and finally install http://nut.xperia-files.com/ eXistenZ. I hope someone can help me with my problem.
I have unlocked BL if interest.

Yes, flash stock FTF will unroot your phone but not relock your bootloader...
First you need to restore TA Partition and then relock your bootloader to restore your Bravia Engine back....hope you have back up your TA Partition...an then flash stock FTF to restore your phone...
After that you can send it to Sony for repair....you may send it now...why keep a broken phone right...
The repair will vary, like me, it takes about 2 month until I receive it back...some may take only a week...
