how to kill startingobexpbaptransaction - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

This thing is KILLING my battery and I can't locate such a thing on ti backup. the only bluetooth related thing is bluetooth share.
Please help. It's driving me nuts and preventing my phone from going to sleep.
I need to freeze this thing through ti backup or something!
I'm running AOKP latest version
I'm well aware of what it is (Bluetooth Phone Book Access Profile) and I don't care if a name is called out on my bluetooth for it. I just bought a large battery but it does me no good if the phone can't go to sleep!!!

Just cycle BT off before leaving your car instead of walking away.
Or cycle BT off/on if you forgot to do that before leaving.

I I've tried that. It didn't help. The process count kept going up in bbw

Have you found a solution? I have the same problem with plantronics headset.

I dont like bugs like that. I run only stable roms or stock whichever is the most stable at the time. I have never liked aosp aokp roms. It has always seemed to me like they fix one thing only to break another thing with each version.
Not trash talking anyone for the work they do , all of it is appreciated but it's just not for me (the experimental type roms or ones that havent been highly polished yet) there is a ton of good things that come from them and also dont want to make anyone feel inferior for using them. Most of them are pretty good.
If you are willong to try something different try S3Rx

I don't actually need to sync phonebook with a headset, so I disabled that pbap service on bluetooth application.
To do that, I believe, you need to have root and an app like AndroidTuner to conntrol app's receivers/providers/services.
So with AndroidTuner in Application manager (App tab) I opened that Bluetooth Share and unchecked everything with pbap in it's name form Services and Providers tabs (not from Activities).

latest HTC update CRAP

Damn, sorry but i'm a little pissed right now.
I would like to ask any of you fellows if the latest offcial update had any bad effects on your device ?
I have random crashes. When i try to restart it i get the white stupid HTC screen and nothing happens for a while then it restarts again from that point.
If i let it like that it will do this for about 10-15 mins. then it will eventually start.
(Ok, i just noticed that it isnt charging anymore...and when i try to unlock the screen it will turn it off.)
(After a couple of reboots it is charging again)
ffs !!!
Footnote.
I am running a standard Desire, not rooted, very few apps, no task killer.
What to do now ?
Well, now i go to work tomorrow like an idiot and will be nice with every one of my colleagues laughin at me.
YOu know, when all your colleagues use their company iPhones and you try to prove how awesome your Android is and after a couple of weeks your phones doesnt work anymore ppl will laugh at you.
So in the end i think, millions of ppl around the world should not be wrong after all.
make a gold card and flash the full generic ROM to your phone
if that doesn't work then you need to return it
No problem here works fine if not slightly better. The problem with forums is that people generally only post problems. I've seen many other posts with people reporting no issues on stock device. Could be due to an app you have.

The point is, the phone was working properly till the update.
I updated my phone yesterday as well with the OTA update. Now my phone discharges from 100% to 93% instantly from taking it off charge. I know this is an on going problem that has been happening to people since the phones launch, but mine was fine, it never did that until today.. the first time I charged it since I did the update. Coincidence? Somehow I think not
I guess the first thing to do would be a factory reset.
I have the latest update on my Desire and everything works great, certain things are better.
I'll give it a hard reset tonight when I have the time to put all the settings back to how I want. I don't want to loose all my save data on some of my games though, like totemic.. I wont play it again if I have to some of those levels again lol
My phone has just shut down by itself and the only way I was able to start it was by pulling the battery. I have the phone for some time and it's the first time something like this has happened so it has to be because of the update. Also, right after the update some of my widgets (Messages and Wi-Fi) were gone! Battery life seems worse.
I had a few problems when i updated too. but a factory reset made everithing work like a charm. (unrooted)

Bad idea there... You're going to have issues with returning it after flashing a generic ROM...
Have any of the networks actually rolled out this update?
I agree with the battery life being A LOT worse after the update. And I did flash the whole generic Rom onto it. My battery life was amazing before the update. I think it must be something to do with the radio, as they changed it in the update. Gutted now as I can't downgrade again either.

You can flash an older radio without changing the rom, but I think it you need to root first.
My battery life is awesome on this rom. My phones been off charge for 15 hours and its at about 70% now. Any other rom I've used previously custom or stock have given me far worse results.
Interesting to see how there is such a mixed bag of results.
Hi, after I updated OTA I lost WiFi after a couple of days, not immediately... I read here that removing battery helps so I did it. The problem is gone (for now at least)
But I don't want to remove the battery every few days.

[Q] "Bluetooth Headset Disconnected" in car stereo

I recently bought a JVC-KW-XR810 stereo unit.
My evo was currently shattered, but it had connection problems.
so I tested my girlfriend's Motorola Atrix. she could play media and make phone calls to her hearts content, so I was assured the new Evo I got in the mail would be fine.
not the case..
the audio cuts out after about 10 seconds of making a call or streaming media, but says it is still connected. I delved into the Bluetooth connections, and unchecked "connect phone" but only left "connect audio" on.
when I did this, I could stream music all night with no drop in Bluetooth connection.
when I try to make a call, the audio goes from my car speakers, to the handset in a matter of seconds. extremely frustrating.
I've even updated the firmware on my JVC unit using a thumb drive.
no fix.
I'm on a stock ROM of froyo 2.2
I tried it fresh out of the box, I also tried it rooted (which it is now with the same stock rom)
the only thing I can really imagine is going on is that Asurion sent me a refurbished POS with defective bluetooth connection.
anyone else have this problem?
this is literally the 6th EVO I've owned, so it's kind of funny at this point.
I kinda have the same problem. Mine will connect flawless with a non sense rom, such as 2.3,with warm z it will connect but not download the phone book from my phone. Kinda frustrating.

What am I looking for here?
Wrong section, go post in the questions section.
I posted something similar in the thread for Koni's Elite II thread which is the ROM I am currently using, however, I have had my problem with this ROM and Kings R2 (recent problem since using these 2 roms)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941055&page=147
I am running into a Bluetooth issue on this rom as well as Kings R2.
Before I have flashed any of these rom's, I wipe everything 2x as well as using the format all 2x. So this is happening after fresh installs.
What happens is, I have a parrot car kit and upon the first time enabeling the bluetooth it attempts to pair up. I enter the pin code and then enable it to access my phonebook and all that like normal. It works fine. But then next time I come to my car and start it, it wont auto connect to the parrot kit (bluetooth is on.) So then I turn Bluetooth on my phone off and back on. But now it act's like it is the first time it is pairing up. It asks me for my pin code again and then asks for permission to access the phone book again. Before, it never did this, so it is not remembering my pin code or the selection of being allowed to access the phone book.
Also, when this happens, alot of times after it asks me for the pin code, I look at the parrot screen and when the phone says it is paired up, the parrot kit says it is disconnected. The option to allow the parrot kit to access the phone book now never populates, so it is sitting in limbo. So I then have to go into the bluetooth settings and I see it say that it is paired but not connected. So I click on it and tell it to connect, and sometimes this method works and allows it to sync, and sometimes it doesn't.
On other ROMS before these 2, (unless it was an ASOP ROM which I haven't used in a while) I never had problems with it connecting, staying connecting, and remembering my initial pin code and option to allow it to access my phone.
Sorry for the long description there, just trying to explain what is going wrong right now.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Any other information I can offer up to help troubleshoot?
BTW, I am using the same kernel I have used throughout all of these sense based roms, Netarchy-toastmod-4.3.2-cfs-nosbc-havs-more
Thank you,
Whiteice

Fine, let me tie this in. It seems to be an issue with the HTC ROM's Bluetooth stack. I've heard from tons of users that its the "automatic phone book download" that wrecks everything. You have to do a factory reset. Resync and do the phonebook download immediately & with only 1 google account setup. I recently got a PM that CM7 has its own bluetooth stack that eliminates the issue. If other ROMs are having the same issue maybe devs should look into using their stack.

Just make sure to use Titanium backup and when you restore all your apps restore the data for TWcrushlauncher.apk (or whichever launcher you are on) and your homescreens will be back the way you left it.

Isn't there a chance that restoring data using Titanium Backup will also bring over the "corrupted" BT files too? I was assuming I would need to start with a completely clean slate and restore/install apps from the market one at a time.
let you know shortly, i still need to borrow mys dads bluetooth headset and i assume it will work, although i odined back to stock and just restored apps, and it was a good decision before going to bonsai cause, my phone was probaly loaded with old crap and it was slowing it down...
Ok well it seemed to connect perfectly with only one pair message.. didnt seem to have as many issues, although it did make me reclick the device to connect it only once..
but the headset was dead and charging so i will charge it a little and let you know more seems tho its much improved then it was on connecting!!
Update: Bluetooth issues is fixed!!! Worked perfect like it should, when you toggle it on and off it just ask you to accept pin and then connects flawlessly!!! YAY!!!

Don't bring all your data over. Once you have put the clean system on and got the ROM back on and redownloaded and installed apps, just bring in the launcher data. No BT info is in there.
Well, that worked!! All BT issues appear to be fixed. I can pair with my Jabra SP700 and make calls and stream music. Bluetooth toggling doesn't require me to enter a PW again and connections appear to hold.
For those with BT issues, a clean wipe and flash is the way to go.
EC05 definately fixed the Bluetooth for me. I tested it with a few different ones. No longer get the losing pair issues. When I do a battery change and the phone boots up, I turn on my Bluetooth and it connects right back up

VOIP/SIP calls with native ICS client

we recently found out that ics allows native voip calling, which is awesome if you want to save craploads of money. but did anyone here ever manage to get it working? the problem is that i hear nothing, the receiver can hear me just fine.
it's so weird because all third party clients i tried work flawlessly, csipsimple for instance. this app in particular is really, really nice, but it muddles ics with that gingerbread look, i'd prefer the native client if it only worked. so there must be something im doing wrong. but what?
It could be a lot of things that have been setup wrongly or your voip provider doesn't allow it.
For me, I have it working perfectly on gnex. The provider I am using is poivy (poivy.com).
They provide details of how to setup their service in voip capable devices. I simply copied the values from the info page they provided and was able to make it work after some failed attempts.
I found that there is a tricky part in process where you have to setup the Optional Settings in the SIP Account Details. I had to enter the Authentication username. Its simply your user name as you entered it in the Username field in the same settings page above the Optional Settings. Its seems odd to have the user name entered twice but that did for me.
If all fails, try setting up an account at poivy.com, they give you free calls to US numbers. That would iron out that your provider doesn't allow you to setup a voip on something other than the software they provide.
Let me know if u need more details or help...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
im mostly using wifi so the provider can go screw itself, but i tested it outside the building with csipsimple and luckily it works, phew. its only this google thing that i could never get to work ... i mean the data is fine, it finds my account and the call goes through, but its of no use since the receiver does not hear a thing, i hear him though. i researched before and overread something about "it uses the wrong mic" and there was talk about a fix, but i couldn't find something concrete.
I use this and it works, but it’s a very bare-bones SIP client and doesn’t implement the SIP standards as well as other SIP clients. I hope Google pays attention to this feature and makes it more robust going forward.
I see, at least its not totally broken lol. Which version of ICS you are running? I am on 4.03 (Custom rom, Roman's AOKP M4) and have tested it with two sip accounts and it works just fine...
let me know if you need anything else.
cheers
im on aokp b28. i tried it with two handsets, nexus & s2. speaking works, the call receiver hears, but i get nothing back, i hear nothing. i tried it with intervoip and voipcheap.

Try speaker mode, screen off could be trimming back your throughput
well, as it turns out nothing works anymore from today on, not even csipsimple, which always did work fine. in my frustration i downloaded a crappy looking client from the providers webpage that gives me forceclosures every now and then, but that one does the job somehow. maybe they changed something in the protocol or something, who knows. still, thank you all so much!
I just purchased the VoIP service from VoIP.ms and it works flawlessly with the built-in sip feature on my galaxy nexus.
If Dell Voice worked with my Bluetooth headset, I would have stuck with it, but VoIP.ms is working so well, a few bucks a month is worth the extra features and built-in stability.
maybe it has somthing to do with how my wifi is configured but whatever i tried i couldnt get it to work. very strange.

Sometimes firewalls will block the ports needed for voip. Have you tried on a different wireless network or your data plan?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
it works with 3rd party apps, well, one worked, the app from the provider itself. i think i blew a couple of bucks already with all the trying, i'll just pass on this. it would be nice to use the native ics feature but i don't see what im doing wrong there. the account-data is right, the connection is made, i hear the receiver but he cant hear me. i tried it with two phones under two wifi configs and it never changed. im starting to think maybe its the voip provider wanting to push its own app, maybe they made something to prevent other apps from working properly. not even csipsimple worked although i never had problems with it on other providers. but this one is so damn good for mobile connections, calls here cost normaly 20-25 cent/min, now im paying 2 ... so i'll take the ugly gingerbread plugin for now.
Is there a difference when using the Native ICS VOIP or something like GrooveIP?
I use my Inc 2 as pseudo landline with SIP calling. Google Voice and PBXes is how I did it. Really simple actually since you can have sipdroid make a gtalk truck with your Google voice. Everything else that needs to be done is the trunk password needs to be your Google password and you need to setup inbound and outbound routing to the proper extension. Then setup internet calling to point to your pbxes account and make sure it connects. And inbound and outbound calling to and from your Google voice number works just as if it were an activated phone.

Just wondering. I have been using native SIP function on my SGS2 with voip.ms service as well. I am running a modded AOSP version of ICS and I noticed if I set to keep alive I find the battery drains heavy. Like 8%/hour with no use. This is the only way to ensure I have no missed calls. In battery stats it shows that Android OS is the culprit.
Are you finding that your battery drains faster also?
When I use Dell Voice I have no battery drain issues at all.

I don’t have this issue using the stock ROM on the GN—and I always send keep-alives 24/7. That said, I tend to be near Wi-Fi most of this day, so I don’t know if this has something to do with it.

No additional battery drain has been noticed since adding VoIP to my phone, even with the "receive calls " option turned on.
I'm on WIFI 100% of my day. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

When I use Dell Voice or any other sip client like csip this does not happen.
maybe it is stopping my phone from deep sleep.

Use an app like betterbatterystats and see if you have any rogue wakelocks.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
all voip services that ive tried on my galaxy s3 with "receive calls" enabled will prevent the phone from going into deep sleep. Makes sense because the SIP client needs to contact the SIP server every 30 seconds or so otherwise the SIP server will drop the client. (as i understand it)
Groove IP doesnt wakelock the phone, but I dont like the backend. That is, you can only have one client logged into google chat (which is how groove ip works) at a time. Also it does not support 911 services. both huge issues for any serious investment
SIP is much more flexible aside from the wakelock requirement

NFC randomly disabling??

Ok, here's the issue I'm running into:
I use NFC to automate my phone profiles like a lot of us probably do with this phone (AT&T S3, using Samsung TechTiles w/NFC Tag Launcher app). Until yesterday, it had been working with complete and total reliability.
However, yesterday I decided to install the following Google Wallet fix to enable Wallet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769083&page=114, <-- which by the way works like a charm
Anyway, since then, my NFC for normal profiles (Home, Work, Night time, etc) that I set up initially doesn't always work when I touch or swipe the phone over a TechTile --sometimes it works, other times it doesn't--. So, as often as not, I have to go into phone Settings and turn off and then back on again the NFC switch. At that point, it works fine once again, but having to go into Settings to disable and then re-enable the NFC function kind of defeats the purpose of having working NFC hardware (for regular use with profiles anyway).
Anyone else run into this problem or one similar to it?
P.S.: I have rebooted, etc. multiple times also and yet still, this issue randomly persists.
Any help is appreciated.

Wow really? No one else has installed Wallet and found that it broke their NFC for other NFC-related things (which by the way seems to be what happened)?

This is my problem too. I have to open google wallet, enter my pin, exit google wallet, then NFC becomes alive again.
Don't know what the root cause of the issue is.
Bump. Any solutions to this?
