[Q] TouchScreen not working after firmware update - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have updated the firmware to XMMC8 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340849
After using Odin 3.07 to do that and with success, I have tried followed the setup of the unnoficial CM10.1 rom :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45774949
When i came to the start screen i realized that the buttons are working but the touch screen is not respoding.
I flashed again the kernel in order to use the default ROM, and the touchscreen is not working either
Anyone had the same problem?
Is it possible to in any of these steps damaged something related with the touchscreen ?
Can it be fixed or checked in anyway?
Thank you for your time.

Have you wiped data/cache/dalvic cache before and after the instalation?

Do you have Clockworkmod installed? Then make a backup and wipe data and caches, see if ir fixes.

ROFL, he doesn't need to install CWM Recovery just to wipe all. He has stock recovery where he can do wipe data and cache or just put a code in the dialer.
Just shut off the phone and turn it on by pressing Home button + Power and you will get into stock recovery, then wipe data and cache.
i tried many ways like pressing the code in the dial pad, rebooting, wiping cache/data, reflashing but nothing happens

Try flashing another firmware
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium
a new firmware would fix it why would u like 2.3.4 when the latest is 2.3.6, try to flash DXKT4 and then make a factory reset hope this helps
I would suggest, you give a shot to the new CyanogenMod 7.2
Follow this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1381355
I tell you, it is much more reliable than you might think. Moreover, because of the custom kernel, you can select some pre-installed CPU governor, so that your GIO become even a bit faster.
Good Luck
Hi,
First, i would like to know, you are upgrading from what firmware to what firmware? is it one package firmware or full package?
I would suggest you to flash it again, but this time, using the full package firmware. After that, don't forget to wipe data/cache, and then factory reset, all via recovery mode.
My exp about upgrading:
- from S5660DXKC3 (froyo, one package) to S5660DXKP6 (gingerbread, one package)
- unstable, lagging, wasteful of battery (bottom line is, disappointed)
Note that xkp6 2.3.6 on xda thread has been modified, on sammobile its a clean rom

Dear Friends,
I bought an "olleh" galaxy gio and updated it to 2.3.6 from Odin.
Now the"Olleh" logo do not show and in its place samsung generic logo show on startup.
Main problem is, since update, my "auto-rotate" option rotates screen in opposite directions and when switching on wifi or BT, it just shows "Error".
No detail of error is shown.
Except that everything is fine. Calling, texting and gaming...
I used the following ROM to update:
S5660XXKTF_S5660DBTKT1_S5660XXKT4_HOME.tar.md5
Please help me with WIFI as I need it very much and could save me alot.

When flashing with ODIN:
Make sure you flash the right firmware! If you flashed any firmware, it also flashes their model's and Country's: modem, csc, kernel, system, etc...
Thus resulting wifi, data, bluetooth, and connectivity errors.
Find the right Stock ROM for your Gio model here. Then use ODIN to flash it.

Can't get past boost screen!

I tried to install CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136995 but after install and reboot the screen flickered at the first boot screen and wouldnt go on. I had been running omega v11 before just fine, I tried to go back to omega and new it is stuck at the boot screen and can not go past. I can get into download mode and recovery just fine, but nothing after that.
What should I do? I do not want to press on and cause further damage before I can find a fix! Thanks in advance for a timely response.
p.s. meant boot screen not boost screen in title
Do you have a complete version of Omega on your sd card? Have you tried wiping, installing, and THEN restoring Omega. You may have a problematic version of CWM, which has had issues with both Aroma and CM10.1 variously.
I have the same version worked the first time (922mb). I tried a rom wipe then install but do not have a backup of omega just my stock rom. I am also running teamwin recovery not cwm. Would going back to a stock rom correct this?
reverting back to a stock rom seems to of fixed it. Thanks Ben for your help!
You should have done a data wipe.

I did, unfortunately I guess my phone just rejected the rom switched over to slimbean with no errors. :victory:
Glad you're back on track, dude. It's always a little bit scary when you don't have a functioning ROM installed.

[Q] Black screen and no boot after flashing PA/CM10.1

Hi, this morning I encountered something which I haven't seen before in my 3 years or so of flashing roms on Android phones. The scenario was the standard process: Root with Odin > Install CWM with Odin > Copy Rom / gapps package to sdcard > Wipe & Install rom with CWM.
I rooted my Note II using CF Auto Root, all went fine, I flashed the latest Phil's touch CWM recovery using Odin which was also successful.
I had root access and was able to do a titanium backup of apps and messages/call logs. I successfully did a Nandroid backup of the stock rom.
After wiping data through CWM as per normal, I flashed the latest Utacka ParanoidAndroid and gapps. The flash was successful, but after rebooting, the 'Samsung Note II' splash screen only appeared briefly, then the image sheared and distorted and the screen went black, in less than three seconds.
I restored my nandroid backup and repeated the process, this time also formatting system, and installing CM10.1 nightly instead of PA. Again, I got a distorted splash screen then a black screen when trying to boot.
Can anyone think of a reason why my phone does not seem to be able to boot a custom rom?
Many thanks
I read on the forum someone else had a similar issue with cm as well

Really? I've tried searching xda, google and the CM forums and havent found anything relevant.
I had this problem recently and after some nice guys helping me out we conclude that the solution is to flash RedPill kernel as the culprit for this glitch is the stock kernel you previously had.
I had such issue with my Note2 too. I was advised to flash Thor kernel 0.15 too after flashing cm10.1 and gapps. And problem was solved. Now cm10.1 boots normal on my Note2.

I have done data wipe, cache partition wipe and dalvik cache wipe only and there is no any pristine wipe.
now i am trying to go back to the manufacturer OS by flashing the Stock rom through odin but it Stucks at the screen of Setup connection
so please help me out
Pristine is not an option in CWM Recovery but a way on how to get your system clean for a clean installation.
Pepoluan made a guide on how to do thiy you can read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044861&highlight=pristine
About sitcking while flashing with Odin you maybe are doing something wrong. For example forgetting to put a check at a field or there is something wrong with your hardware. Try an other USB port and make sure it´s a native one but not a hub.
Thanks

Problem with phone and CM10.2

Welcome. I have a problem with the phone since the release of the nightly 26/10 firmware CM10.2. I have updated it to wipe cache + dalvik, and the phone did not want to boot. The only hope was to download mode in which the flash went and MG2. When the phone woke up and I thought that flash the CM10.2 of full-wipe, but unfortunatelly. It seemed that my internal memory (not about sd card) has been broken. In the settings, format the it, but the built-in recovery were visible on the files. I decided to upload the leak MB2 with pit file, then flash on the MG2, but it did not work. What should I do? Is a return to GB and JB flash again do something about it? Can someone with such a problem already have? I hope you can help me, best regards.
well , i had the same problem on 26/10 build , i did full wipe ( wipe data , cache , dalvik , and try to format system),but it still not work , it stuck on ace 2 logo and not going to boot animation , i must flash firmwares again ... , i have this problem only at 26/10 build
i hope someone can solve this
Yeah, we must wait...

Damn, sorry guys. What happen if you want to flash something from temporary cwm ?

1. Use odin to flash stock firmware
2. Flash d-kernel for stock via terminal ( see procedure in d-kernel thread )
3. Wait 10 minutes from now for new build 27/10 ( i reverted commit that possibly broke your storage)
4. Flash it using cwm recovery build in with d-kernel
5. Enjoy your phone again
I hope this will work !
Yup, that helped me. Thread can be closed
