I tried to install CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136995 but after install and reboot the screen flickered at the first boot screen and wouldnt go on. I had been running omega v11 before just fine, I tried to go back to omega and new it is stuck at the boot screen and can not go past. I can get into download mode and recovery just fine, but nothing after that.
What should I do? I do not want to press on and cause further damage before I can find a fix! Thanks in advance for a timely response.
p.s. meant boot screen not boost screen in title
Do you have a complete version of Omega on your sd card? Have you tried wiping, installing, and THEN restoring Omega. You may have a problematic version of CWM, which has had issues with both Aroma and CM10.1 variously.
I have the same version worked the first time (922mb). I tried a rom wipe then install but do not have a backup of omega just my stock rom. I am also running teamwin recovery not cwm. Would going back to a stock rom correct this?
reverting back to a stock rom seems to of fixed it. Thanks Ben for your help!
You should have done a data wipe.

I did, unfortunately I guess my phone just rejected the rom switched over to slimbean with no errors. :victory:
Glad you're back on track, dude. It's always a little bit scary when you don't have a functioning ROM installed.

I rooted my phone fine. I unlocked my phone fine.
I installed clockworkmod recovery fine. I flashed clockworkmod. I backed up my rom at the stage after rooting and unlocking.
I then downloaded cyanogenmod from the app's download page. I downloaded it and installed it. I used the default selections which is "wipe delvich cache"
When I turned on my phone, it stays at the blue screen with the alien forever.
Any help on what to do? Thanks!
Reflash the ROM using these instructions. You probably wiped the wrong way.

I had same problem installing cm10 with cwm. In order to get past boot animation you have to use the dark side cache wipe after flashing ROM. Ideally you should -darksidesuperwipe then flash ROM then darksidecachewipe. I like to let it boot without gapps first. Set up WiFi and all that.
Try rebooting and flash darksidecachewipe. Then reboot. I always had lingering problems until I flashed twrp. After twrp is installed there is no need for darkside scripts.
Worth it to just get twrp and redo.

Wow very informative and helpful too bad the OP could not at least give you some props and let you know he saw this and you helped him out. People panic come on here and ask questions then never come back to thank or at least acknowledge the help... Hey for that I will give you your first xda Thanks.... :good:
Try returning to stock and try again. Do things in this order: 1. Root, CWM, ETC. 2. CM7 or another 2.3 ROM (usual wipe) 3. CM9 (again, wipe)
Hi, this morning I encountered something which I haven't seen before in my 3 years or so of flashing roms on Android phones. The scenario was the standard process: Root with Odin > Install CWM with Odin > Copy Rom / gapps package to sdcard > Wipe & Install rom with CWM.
I rooted my Note II using CF Auto Root, all went fine, I flashed the latest Phil's touch CWM recovery using Odin which was also successful.
I had root access and was able to do a titanium backup of apps and messages/call logs. I successfully did a Nandroid backup of the stock rom.
After wiping data through CWM as per normal, I flashed the latest Utacka ParanoidAndroid and gapps. The flash was successful, but after rebooting, the 'Samsung Note II' splash screen only appeared briefly, then the image sheared and distorted and the screen went black, in less than three seconds.
I restored my nandroid backup and repeated the process, this time also formatting system, and installing CM10.1 nightly instead of PA. Again, I got a distorted splash screen then a black screen when trying to boot.
Can anyone think of a reason why my phone does not seem to be able to boot a custom rom?
Many thanks
I read on the forum someone else had a similar issue with cm as well

Really? I've tried searching xda, google and the CM forums and havent found anything relevant.
I had this problem recently and after some nice guys helping me out we conclude that the solution is to flash RedPill kernel as the culprit for this glitch is the stock kernel you previously had.
I had such issue with my Note2 too. I was advised to flash Thor kernel 0.15 too after flashing cm10.1 and gapps. And problem was solved. Now cm10.1 boots normal on my Note2.

So I was on CM10 and decided to update to the new CM10.1. My smart self decided to let the updater do it's thing and not wipe anything. I got to 10.1 without any visible problems. Then decided to wipe everything as to avoid possible future problems. After wiping, all my gapps just broke and I had to reflash them. Thats when the rest of the problems started. The gapps were still broken so I decided to wipe again and reflash both the rom and gapps. At this point I dont remember exactly but either CWM was freezing at every point or i was stuck in boot animation.
Fast forward a few days later I had to ODIN flash stock rom and trying to flash anything else just keeps me stuck in boot animation.
(Note: any CM backups keep me stuck in boot animation too)
So any help is appreciated ive tried just about everything. I also get a lot of cache errors that Im not sure of in CWM.
Sorry about the long post im fairly new to the site so i didnt know how much detail to include.
You should try TWRP and see if it works.
Ill try it and reply with results tomorrow

What cwmr version are you on? If you still using the 5.x.x.x that's why(have to use the darkside wipe script). Update your recovery through ROM mananger to the latest 6.0.2.9 or to twrp through goo manager.

thanks! TWRP ftw!!
Solved
Thanks for the helps guys, TWRP worked.
I flashed TWRP 2.5 and then flashed Task's AOKP 4/9 ROM and everything went down hill from there. The phone kept rebooting after a minute or so, so I did a factory reset and reflashed the ROM. That didn't help, it actually made it worse in that it would not get past the kernel splash screen. So I did another wipe and the same thing. I wiped again and flashed an older version of AOKP 4/5 and again would only get to the kernel splash. After another hour or so I decided I'll just go back to rooted stock, so using Odin 3 3.07 I flashed my trusted root69.stock_ATT_I747UCALG1 image and now it just stays on the Samsung screen.
I've run out of thoughts on what the hell is the problem and thought I'd ask.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get this paper weight working again?

Not sure about the problem with aokp. But your bootloop just pull the battery, reinstall battery, go into stock recovery, factory reset and voilà

This will do it. Flashing back to 4.0.4 will bootlopp until you factory reset in stock recovery

Same thing happened to me. Boot loop with 4/9 AOKP task so I Odin to the same file as you but that ran just fine. I would try to Odin again.
Oh and after stock with root I flashed 4/9 and all was good. By chance did you have custom boot animation?

I think it's the custom boot causing this issue. Anyway good luck. I know my heart skipped a beat when my phone would boot loop while to get into recovery. Once I Odined back to stock with root first/only thing I downloaded was goomanager and installed TWRP then flashed 4/9.

I'm back up and running again. A little embarrassed I forgot the factory reset last night.
Thanks for the reminder!
AOKP is a great ROM.
When flashing ROMs always follow these steps and you will be fine.
1- nandroid backup
2- format system
3- wipe cache
4- wipe Dalvik
5- factory reset.
Most suggest doing each 3 times.
6- install ROM and reboot
7- flash gapps
Let sit for 10 minutes.
Follow those instructions and everything will be fine.

Have you tried booting to recovery, then doing an advanced wipe (system/data/cache/dalvik) and reflashing rom/gapps?
What version of recovery are you using?

yes, i have. I also got back to stock, used an older recover, flashed with an older version of CM and nothing. I first was using CWM 6.0.3.7., after that I used 6.0.4.3, then an older version of TWRP but nothing. I also tried booting to system without flashing gapps.
With stock ROM everything works just fine.
Just wipeout internal and external card once and than install with twrp 2.6.1.0. And don't forget to say thanks

Well, thank you, but it didn´t work.
it happened to me the same thing months ago. never had solution. still in waiting. attempt internal and external SD format. and followed the same. I hope someday they can come up with the solution! : (
i have the same problem too
I try to install multiple ROM 4.2.2 and I could only install one version AOKP Milstone JB1. I also worked the other. however all 4.1.2 rom if I worked. I could not install any 4.3 and 4.4 now does not know what is the problem but I've tried everything! anyone found the solution yet but I see I'm not the only one! (excuse my bad English, not my language )
Well you all are right, I am also using shadow mastery (stock rooted rom). Just because I had the same problem sometimes stucking and rebooting and sometimes after going in gallery. Even I can't use 4.3 and 4.4 roms. Anyone have to contact with room developer or someone who know about this problem.

You might want to find an Official T-Mobile or Telus 4.1.2 or 4.0.3/4.0.4 rom that is Odin flashable, not one that has been custom made/flashable from recovery - then just start over after getting back to true stock, change to TWRP or CWM recovery that is 4.3+ compatiable, root and then flash rom/gapps etc.
