That's strange because it worked with no problems for my One X. You could also try THIS to unlock your bootloader, but the tool does the same steps that you manually did with the previous tutorial.
Maybe you have overlooked some minor detail in the steps. I would recommend starting fresh on a different PC and make sure you have the drivers up to date. If indeed you did everything right, you probably have a faulty device (I really don't think that is the case).

On your bootloader does it say relocked or security warning.

Are u flashing the right hboot? different devices have different hboot's.
What commands are you using ? Did you put it in ruu mode
With the firmware flash method you need to lock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
Then put in ruu mode
Fastboot oem rebootRUU
And then flash the firmware
Fastboot flash zip firmware.zip

Hey Everybody ....
Im Just Looking For A Box That Support Erase, Full Flash And Unlocked My HOX
Cuz My HOX Stuck On Fastboot Menu With Locked ( Cant Unlocked It ) .
Why is it stuck there ? Are you on full stock with a locked bootloader (does it literally say LOCKED ?)
If so try factory reset.
Otherwise this might help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439
MY HOX Arabic CID J_15 With 1.38 Hboot
I've Unlocked it And Install Android Revolution 9 Suddenly MY HOX Reboot Into Fast Menu And Change From Unlock To Looked ( No System, No Recovery )
I Cant Do Factory Rest ( Nothing Happened Just Reboot Into Fastboot Menu )
But Theres A New Option In Fastboot Menu Called ( Security Reset ) When I Pressed ( KeyCard Checked Failed )
What I Do ?
Sorry For My English
Hmm the only option you have is to try and unlock the bootloader ! Could be a partial bootloader brick.....going from unlocked to locked does not suppose to happen !
Put the unlock code.bin file in the fastboot folder and flash it with this command
Fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
That should bring up the menu on the phone to unlock the bootloader.
Securit reset means that you've messed up some really low level software.
It was in the s-off thread also: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2057105&page=21
Matt never got it unlocked again so he just sent it to a repair center. I guess you must do the same.

what is your phones bootloader status say ? Locked or Re-locked ? Whatever it may be, once you receive the unlock_code.bin of your own mobile (not others), you might want to open the command prompt from the adb fastboot folder, then type the following command (hopefully you might have done right, but just incase if you miss one letter or jumble it, it wont work)
fastboot flash unlock token Unlock_code.bin
It is case sensitive. so type carefully or try to paste it from here. This should unlock your phone. If still not, then the unlock_code.bin you got might have issues. So register on htcdev again with different email id, and use that.
All the best. Hit thanks if this post deserves it.
hey gyz,
i bought one USED vodafone Uk carrered htc desire hd..its maybe sim unlocked cuz i live in bangladesh n um using local carrer in it!
recently i tried to unlock the bootloader my htc desire hd by htcdev.com method.. at first when they asked me to check for updated ruu ,i saw that mine wasn't in the list, infact mine was more updated as i saw in the vodafone uk sector.
'the enlisted one was 3.13.161.3 n mine is 3.13.161.5' according to their say.. i skipped that as mine was latest regrading that one in the list..
everything went okay ..but when i tried to unlock the bootloader in fastboot by flashing the unlocktoken.. it's stuck with just showing "sending unlock token...blah blah' ..thats it! i waited for long, but nothing else comes up!!
now ,what should i do to complete te bootloader unlocking? or should i update ruu ? which one should i select then? vodaone uk one or Asia/india one ? (bangladesh is beside of india as well as it's in asia continent)..
help plzzz
Just rerun the unlocking boot loader process

Want to do it easiest way? Have to go with Chinese way then.
Go to www.mgyun.com download first thing you see with computer sign and v3.4.8 current. Once done with downloading,Install it in your pc,Connect your device and Open program and try to search for an icon look like "LOCK sign" somewhere under setting sign. Click on lock icon will prompt something in your device related to unlock bootloader. Press Vol. Up or Down to choose and Power button to select. It will wipe your entire device. But after that you'll have ***UNLOCKED*** bootloader.
Skip htcdev traditional old method. Chinese method does the same with everything in that program.,so that not have to have any sort of registration to get unlock_code.bin or any sort of trouble. This is easiest way you could ever find to unlock your device bootloader.
Rest is up to you.
Thanks.
solved!!!
finally i was able to unlock my bootloader with the unlocktoken in fastboot ..gyzz
wat i did this time is, i opened multiple command propmpt n stated the command multiple times altogether, the first one stayed stuck as i said..but the later one did the job foh me! :v tnx gyz for ur valuable suggestions those i would refer to upcoming stupid noobs like me !
hit thanks if im a noob!!!
Hi guys, I hope someone brighter than me has an answer to following:
I ran HTC 10 with systemless root and HTC unlocked bootloader and wanted to try to take Nougat OTA.
This failed with red exclamation mark, I then flashed stock recovery and relocked the bootloader and tried the Nougat RUU downloadable from HTC.
This then worked and my phone is on Nougat alright, but now I want my bootloader unlocked again for twrp and root.
Trying the HTC unlock method results in this:
C:\android-tools>fastboot oem get_identifier_token
...
FAILED (remote: unknown command)
finished. total time: 0.007s
Doesn't work anymore??
So, I thought let's try Sunshine.apk again, it worked great on my M8, but this seem to force stop on Nougat when it tries to gain temproot.
I am lost... Anyone who knows a solution please?

I have not tried it, but I once read that you should insert the normal command when you unlocked it the first time, ie with the $ fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin and it happens the same way, if you do not have the file and you are looking for the OEM ID with $ fastboot oem get_identifier_token, you may need to activate the developer options to unlock OEM and that is your problem.
Sorry for the translated English

From bootloader, that's the way I was used to and it has always worked that way anyways.
Are you saying it should be done from download mode?

I indeed tried with the original Unlock_code.bin file first, but it refuses to do it complaining about 'not being able to flash that partition with S-on'...
I did enable in developer options OEM unlock checkbox also. Still no joy on current Nougat ROM.

Thanks! I don't know why I didn't try that myself but it indeed works as expected from there.
Back to unlocked and setting up once again

Congratulations on getting it, I have a question regarding, how to unlock the unlock from Download Mode? Is the cell phone returning the first time it is unlocked?

Kind of an OT question, but how did you relock your HTC 10? Was it as simple as typing "fastboot oem lock" in fastboot?
