Are u flashing the right hboot? different devices have different hboot's.

What commands are you using ? Did you put it in ruu mode
With the firmware flash method you need to lock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
Then put in ruu mode
Fastboot oem rebootRUU
And then flash the firmware
Fastboot flash zip firmware.zip

If he flashes the wrong firmware it won't pass the check but he won't get a remote not allowed
My guess he didn't put the phone in ruu mode

Damn guys ! Thanks a lot ! I really forgot to make rebootRUU ! Now it's OK !

Help in downgrading

every time when i reach the adb shell line, it shows error: device not found.
briefly, the Inc2 i have is S-ON with unlocked bootloader and recovery installed.
i flashed a custom ROM without noting that I am S-ON.
now the device is stock at HTC logo.
the BIG problem here, i tried more than 10 stock images (PG32IMG.zip) with no hope, everything it shows the below progress bar in the top right corner and do nothing.
i tried to downgrade with this tool, but its shows device not found, noting that everything is OK with the driver and adb staff, i can see the phone in the device manager as My HTC and if write the command "fastboot reboot-botloader" it reboot!! thats mean its connected.
HELP PLEASE,ANY THOUGHTS , i spend more than 4 days looking, i downloaded more than 5 GB of files with no hope
Dear MOD, if it in the wrong section please move it to the proper one
This should be in General but I'll say this: I have rooted 3 vivows (including mine) with various versions of HTC/Verizon's garbage stock ROM. Carefully following this guide worked perfectly each time:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1298990
Do NOT use HTC's unlock on their dev website as it does not gain S-OFF so you can't use non-HTC Sense based ROMs and you'll end up relocking your phone to gain S-OFF. Use only the guide linked above.

thanks for the reply.
i already unlocked the bootloader through htcdev.
i read the thread for the downgrade but the problem is when i do the first step in the cmd it shows error: device not found, noting that he you type the fastboot rebbot it reboot successfully !!
all i i need is to install this ROM because it support GSM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1553357
you can't use adb because most likely it isn't enabled on your device. It might also be because you didn't wipe cache/dalvik and install the newest radio. I remember that being a big problem.
It could also be that you flashed a rom without flashing the boot.img since you aren't S-off. Im pretty sure if you're S-on you need to flash the boot.img of the rom first then flash the rom. I don't remember what the command is using fastboot but i'm sure you can find it.
If none of this works, then i would factory reset and then have your phone reupgrade to stock and start the process all over.
Good luck

I did this once on a friends Vivow, basically you just reverse the locking instructions on the htcdev website. It's something simple like: "fastboot oem lock". It's on the htcdev website if i recall.
But yea, NEVER use that garbage HTC unlock site, what you want is the HBOOT downgrade link I provided above, but first you gotta relock your phone.

[solved] relocked & security warning [solved]

Guys,
I urgently need assistance, I really need to have my mobile working very soon!
Heres my issue!
BOOTLOADER IS RELOCKED
and every command I run, I get the following ..
Sending Unlock_code.bin = FAILED DATA TO LARGE
trying to reinstall clockwork
Sending BOOT , then it says FAILED REMOTE not allowed
I am absolutely stuck in the bootloader loop with no recovery or any .IMG working.
Yes I have searched high and low to help me out all day literally all day and it's been stressing me out alot!
Please help!!
Kind regards
SOLVED MY PROBLEM AND MANY OTHERS MIGHT GET HELP FROM THIS.
First of all if you are having the issue I have please follow the next steps.
If you notice when you are in the Bootloader it will say RELOCKED ** SECURITY WARNING ** if so
Run this bat file with the cable connected until the ** SECURITY WARNING DISAPPEARS ** - http://www.speedyshare.com/b3WsH/Fas...y-recharge.bat
It should disappear after one reboot of charging when it does remove the cable and close the BAT file
Reconnect the cable and open a fastboot cmd window and run the "" fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin "" this will then allow write access and you should be able to use your phone again! my CM10 rom is still working and etc
Hope this helps for other people, please message me if i wasn't clear enough in above.

ah bugger, can you advise in what I can do please?
I have tried the RUU but it comes with the 140 ERROR
I am really screwing right now, last time I try and root something obviously not meant for me!
Cheers guys
usually when you have error 140 is because you have wrong hboot version (you have to be lower or the same than ruu),
watch in bootloader what hboot do you have and then download ruu from here http://htcruu.com/?dir=Endeavor
check if you have a branded phone or not, and which region (europe, asia...) and download the right one then try again

Hey, sorry to bring this up again, but I did what the OP said. I unlocked the the bootloader again, and got rid of the security warning, but I still cannot get past the "htc quietly brilliant" screen. Factory reseting won't work, and recovery will just reboot the device only to get it stuck the way I mentioned before. Any help, anyone?

Return To Stock LOCKED and S-ON

Please note you must be bootloader unlocked and S-OFF for this to work
you are doing this at your own risk dont blame me if something goes wrong i have tested this twice one on CM and once on Stock
that being said
This guide will help you return to stock un-rooted, locked, and s-on in the event you ever need to use the warranty
You will need the decrypted RUU from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...pers.com/showpost.php?p=46153741&postcount=31
I recommend copy and paste for the command so you don’t mistype something
This will lock your bootloader and make it show LOCKED not RELOCKED
While still in the bootloader type
Code:
Fastboot oem rebootRUU
Once in ruu mode *blackscreen with HTC text* its time to flash the decrypted ruu make sure you have placed the rom in the folder and named it Rom.zip
Run following command
Code:
Fastboot flash zip Rom.zip
It appears some people are confused on the following. You must confirm your device successfully flashes the ruu before contiuning
It could work the first time or could error out multiple times typically it fails the first time then completes the 2nd bu not a promise also make sure you have checked the md5 hash
You will most likely get the following error
FAILED (remote: 90 hboot pre-update! please flush image again immediately)
Don’t worry this is normal (typically fails the first time) (also it could boot you out of ruu mode when it does) just make sure your phone still shows its in ruu mode
If it is not just retype
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Then re-run the command
Code:
Fastboot flash zip Rom.zip
Once it finishes the phone will stay in ruu mode simply type
Code:
Fastboot reboot-bootloader
At this point you are stock unrooted and bootloader locked but still s-off to change this type
Code:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
you should get a message back saying
“(bootloader) writesecureflag: partitions signature pass
OKAY [ 1.666s]
finished. total time: 1.666s”
now type
fastboot reboot-bootloader
and verify you are now S-ON andtype
Code:
fastboot reboot
and your phone will load to stock
note this will be stock version m7wlv_1.10.605.8 so you will need to take the ota to update to 605.10
hope this helps
Thanks for this!

I need HELP! I read the BIG RED PRINT about being bootloader unlocked but I still foolishly locked the bootloader prior to running this......I'm still S-Off but it will not flash the RUU. And now it is in a boot loop into recovery. I've tried running the lock unlock ADB scipt but I can't seem to get the device to connect in ADB mode.....fastboot works fine.
Hopefully I don't have a nice looking paper weight.
and BTW the reason i locked the BL is because I was reading other info on the web ( Youtube ) and got in a hurry.....LET THIS BE A REMINDER.

You do need to lock the bootloader at one point in my guide
What command did you run to lock the boot loader
Adb only works when booted in to a os
My advice is boot into bootloader then flash a custom recovery and flash cm from cm run unlock command in adb and try again following my directions

Thank you for the reply. I used rummrunners method for unlock and S-Off. My HTC One is a Verizon model and not unlockable on the HTCdev website. so I don't have a token.
@tpierce67 - did you try the echo command he mentioned a few posts back to get it to read unlocked again? Edit: I think it just now clicked (re-read through for the 3rd time) why you probably weren't able to run that command... no custom recovery, no rom, no adb...
@bmt626 - so I take it SuperCID isn't necessary before running this?

And it worked for you without having the unlock token? My goal is to simply have the option to return to S-ON stock Locked in case I ever needed it. I used RumRunner to unlock my device.
I was able to do this without issues.. but It's showing tampered and I have no custom recovery?
Am I screwed for now? Or is there anything additional I can do? PC won't read it.. and it won't boot..
I have the option for recovery but it kicks me back out to fastboot..

ok is there any way you can help me to do that using adb as i do not have a rom installed currently and cannot get a RUU to flash completely

Sorry. I have no idea about that. It's a new "security" feature in 5.1 and others have been having the same problem and I don't know if anyone has been able to figure out how to unlock without running an ruu.

Thanks given. S-off, I relocked to install update .19 and it wouldn't unlock after, with s-off I just installed twrp captain throwback and SU beta. Titanium backup pro wouldn't remove apps, and busy box pro wouldn't install. This fixed it.
Huge thanks.

M9 softbricked??
So im in the same boad. I managed to lock myself out of my phone. Flashed stock recovery to update to android 6. NOW I'm stuck in bootloader. I can boot to recovery, download and oemRUU. When I try to run RUU i get the battery below 30% error but my phone says its 100% when I "power down" in recovery. when i try ADB SIDELOAD i get BL-unlock fail. runing unlocktoken the phone disply the warning andout unlocking the bootloader and i select YES then it display "set_unlock_bootloader_magic_type_fail" the phone reboots and the bootloader stays "re-locked"
I cant flash custom recovery or system without getting a "S-On" error or boot loader lock error. i can however flash "hosd". I tried the battery charge batt file but i don't get any readings running the command.
any help would be appreciated.

I got s-off a week after it came out in April. The last lollipop update, htc moved the ability to unlock bootloader into developer options in phone and I didn't know, til I stumbled across this thread.
Fixed!!!

Make sure the RUU is the correct one matching the CID of your phone
change the name of the RUU to 0PJAIMG.ZIP and put it on SDCard then reboot to download mode
should be yellow text at bottom of screen (volume up to flash volume down to cancel)
(make sure SD card is fat32 and the 0PJAIMG zip file is the only thing on the card)
Have a look in the link for RUU

You have to enable developers options Easter egg. Go to settings/about/software information/more and keep tapping build number. You will get a toast notification telling you to tap "X#" times to enable until you see "developer mode (blah blah blah)" Go back to settings and you'll see developers options. Open it and check "allow unlock bootloader"
If you can't get marshmallow, reboot to bootloader. Check software status at top. If it says modified you won't take OTA. Back up your device internal storage to pc and flash lolipop ruu.exe and if that doesn't take, find stock ruu thread and put lolipop on sd card and reboot to download mode. This will reset status to "official" and allow you to take both parts of OTA for marshmallow. This method will wipe your entire device including internal storage (thus need for backup to pc prior)
HTC backup has been discontinued in marshmallow. You can restore from, but Google picks up backup on marshmallow.

HTC 10 brick and can't install RUU , Please Help!!

Hello Ladies and gentlemen, please I need help here.... My HTC 10 is brick and I'm trying to unbrick it but can't for these reasons:-
1-locked bootloader, S-ON
2-stock recovery is not there... Can't open it
3-downloading mode is not working too, doesn't open
4-bootloader opens fine , I tried using fast boot to flash the stock RUU but it's saying "can't while S-ON)
5- tried the official RUU exe , not working because it keeps on saying (battery less than 30%) , now plz don't tell me to charge it cause İTS CHARGED!! But the problem is that there is a bug where fast boot can't read the battery ... Getvar command will give you (nothing) (empty)... That's why RUU still says "battery less than 30%"
I tried EVERY thread on the internet , nothing works unfortunately!
Please people help :crying:
I don’t know this battery problem. But try resetting or recalibrating battery .
1) Connect the phone to wall charger for 10 mins.
2) with the switch turned off and phone power off
Press and hold volume up and down button ( both volume button ) and power button for 2 min and leave all the button .
3) charge it full / or for long period , probably 3-4 hrs
4) try flashing ruu now.

Ill try and reply back

Unlock bootloader
Find your stock recovery.img version
Put your HTC on bootloader mode (dont need download mode)
Flash Stock recovery via ADB (command: fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img)
Flash RUU via MicroSD card
Relock bootloader

Once unlocked your bootloader please NEVER relock it....it has no purpose. All you do is lock yourself out of your device once in trouble. Worst advice ever.

Many people don't know that relocking the BL doesnt do any good. If your device is not completely stock and you relock the BL you are screwed!!!
You can flash ruu files with an unlocked BL, you can update officially with an unlocked BL, it has no value what so ever to relock it. Believe me, I know this stuff !

And why so many unnecessary steps, no need to flash a stock recovery before a ruu, the ruu does it for you.

1: shame it's locked.
2: stock recovery is probably there but you need a button combo to enter it, you probably see some kind of exclamation sign ?
3: you say it doesn't open....means what ? Does the device start bootlooping, does it reboot to the bootloader ?
4: did you try to flash a ruu.zip in "ruu mode" ? (google for the exact fastboot command to enter ruu mode)
5: nothing to say about that.
