[Q] Cant receive texts nor calls , have data - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

As the title states, I cannot receive texts nor calls, I can call and send texts, I have LTE and full data
I have tried Infamous 3.5 GE and Virgin ROM with no luck
T-Mobile won't help since I'm not stock, anyone else have the same problem?

Dont tell me you took your phone in to tmobile running a custom rom or told them you were running a custom rom to tech support......if it turns out you are having a hardware issue or something....youre most likely screwed now. They most likely made a note on your account

First off T Mobile has no idea what ROM you are using. So you can call tech support and make sure that it's no an issue on their end.
Second, what happens if you flash the stock ROM, no mods?
You might also try using Odin to return to complete stock, verify that everything works properly, then re-root and start over. Whenever you have a goofy problem like this, be ready to Odin back to stock and start over. It can cure just about anything that isn't a hardware problem, and I don't believe this is a hardware problem since you have mobile data.

It doens't matter if they made notes.
There is no proof the tech guy who saw it knew what he was looking at. Also, they probbaly don't even care.
Also...this is almost certainly not a hardware issue.

I am pretty sure is not hardware related as its independent of the ROM I run, however I can send myself SMS from Google Voice and respond to them

Not receiving calls

My wife and I are stock and we are having issues receiving calls. Is this a known issue with this phone?
If you are 100% stock, you may want to call tmo.
Have you done a hard reset? Does calling over wifi work?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
yeah we are 100% stock. It's hard to tell if we miss a call on or off of wifi unless they leave a voice message as some calls go straight to voicemail. I'll try a hard reset. My wife tried calling me six times and I didn't even get a missed call. Same thing when my mom called me.

Go to your local T-Mobile store and they should replace the phone or the sim card.
If the phone is the problem just hope you are under warranty, you should be.

ye check out my signature. up i need to update beta5 now.
try flashing the stock kid radio in my previous post
what radio are you running?
It is interesting that in the last week there are at least three threads dealing with missed calls. Is there something going on in common? I have found that I was only missing certain calls from certain numbers. 100% reproducible. If I call my cell from my work phone AND the work # is stored in my contacts, then I do not get the call. It goes straight to voicemail. But if I remove the number, I get the call. Add the number back and I miss the call.

Well I havent rooted the phone yet - as if this issue continues, i dont want to void the warranty as I can try for a replacement. I am not sure once I root - can I do something to make it look clean and not void warranty!
If there is any suggestions - I will definitely try it out

All of a sudden MMS will not download or send when wifi is on?! Wtf.

Hey folks. So, I was running Calkulins EL 29 2.9.2 Gingerbread ROM. I have never had any problems sending and receiving MMS when Wifi is on. However, all of a sudden, it now fails to download or send when WiFi is turned on. I have to shut off Wifi to receive or send. This is a major inconvenience as everyone knows the Epic 4G Touch can tend to have a lazy 3g radio and will give up on big MMS pictures too easily, unlike some other smartphones i have owned.
I have wiped, flashed other ROMS and am having the same issue. Please note I did NOTHING, just woke up one morning and it completely stopped working. I didn't mess with dialer codes, ect. Can anyone point me in the direction of what I need to do? Do I need to do some dialer data resets? I have tried ##3282# however cannot find an option to do a restore settings or anything like that like I could on my Evo 3D. Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Hey Paul. Gotta love Sprint .
I just had to do this because my phone calls kept going to voicemail. Reflash the modem and update your profile & prl. If that doesn't work, try reprovisioning the phone. I wrote this method up, follow it very closely... :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26131653&postcount=4244
I appreciate this info, but unfortunately it did not let me send MMS with Wifi on. I wonder if Sprint did something behind the scenes that I cannot do anything about..

Has anything changed with your wifi? Also, have you had an opportunity to try a different wifi connection yet?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Not that I am aware, just tried the open hotspot across the yard and still no go. I wasnt able to do the MSID walkthrough, I am using PhantomHackers ICS rom, the code just didnt do anything in the dialer, but ##72876# or whatever it was did work.
I thought you were still on GB . Since you just flashed the phone anyway, why not just one click back to stock rooted to see what happens. I'm running out of suggestions btw LOL.

Oh, I was on GB when I wrote the thread, then I flashed some ICS afterwords to see if a wipe to something new would make a difference.
Ok last thought, have you tried a different app like handscent or gosms yet?

Regular SMS is groovy. Weird, huh?
Check out this page in this thread:

There are some suggestions there as well. I knew I had seen this but it's been a while since anyone has had this particular problem.
You are not alone my friend. Same annoying hiccup here. Mms send also acting shotty. Could be network. Not sure if sprints website/system going down earlier today has something to do with it. I went with my bro to local sprint store for upgrade earlier today, thats how I found out about sprints problems today.
Weird. It seems to be working again after like 200 reboots... That is, it's working on my stock rooted Photon. I'll check my wife's SGS2E4GT tomorrow AM and report back.
Something that strikes me as super weird: The proxy for MMS (##DATA#) is mms.sprintpcs.com. But it looks like Network Solutions has parked a temp site there as if the domain is expired. The whois looks fine. The port for the proxy is 80, the same as what my browser would try.
You guys arent alone....just happened to me to today...after 3 days of VERY weird/weak reception. My signal on EL29 modem would go up and down.. from full bars to absolutely NONE, and come back again. I dont know if its the freakin 'solar flares' that we have been experiencing.....cuz i remember sometime last year i had horrible reception when we had those solar flares again........
i'm having the same issues too but only noticed after flashing the wicked sensations & phantom ICS roms. reverted/restored back to calk's 2.9.1 el29 and it still doesn't work over wifi. i've tried rebooting & updating profile/prl with no luck. how do i fix this?
Same thing here and I changed nothing on my phone. Has to be a Sprint issue.

There are a bunch of reports of Sprint issues. I've had multiple denied sms and had to retry. My partner has a rooted Evo and he's having trouble placing phone calls. Someone else here reported a quirk in reported dns for the Sprint messaging server(s) and someone else reported using the SetDNS app to make changes and that seemed to improve their problem. Of course, the Sprint helpdesk is denying everything. Guess we'll have to wait it out.
This must be a Sprint issue for sure, mms is sending over wifi for me again.
mine still doesn't work of wifi

Porting T-Mobile ROMs

There seems to already be several T-Mobile Note 4 ROMs available in that section. I have found several references to Verizon Note 4 owners flashing T-Mobile ROMs. What needs to be done to accomplish this and keep the device on the Verizon network?

I'm on US Cellular, so I don't know how different we are from your carrier.
I've got TWRP and the StarKissed kernel, along with the stock ROM running fine on my Note 4. I went ahead and tried flashing T-Mobile ROMs, the only problem is my mobile data.
Unless I flash the StarKissed kernel on top of the stock ROM and dirty flash the T-Mobile ROM, I loose 4G. I can make calls, and receive text, but I can't send text or use the internet.
If I dirty flash, I can make calls and receive text. Still can't send text, but I do get 4G internet for a short time.
I've went into the 4636 menu and toggled CDMA/LTE auto PRL, and toggled the radio and airplane mode, but that doesn't give me mobile data after a clean flash.
Should just need the apn for verizon and should work fine
Would that solve my issue as well, use the US Cellular APN?
I have StarKissed and TWRP and my phone is laggy as hell. It will randomly just pause for a second or so and then catch up. It did it when I typed "phone" in this reply. Driving me crazy. I want to start over with a new ROM and see if it fixes it.

I don't have lag at all, you should be able to go ahead and flash a T-Mobile rom from there. Just make a backup first.

My first 4 did this. It was f'n Infuriating and determined to be defective so I swapped. My new One is fine.
Edit: l literally tried any and everything l knew and what was suggested. 1 Knew it was defective but didn't want to wait for a replacement. / finally gave in because it pissed me off so bad I would'nt even try to type or write , even the freaking spen did it.
Hope you get it resolved!
Did anyone get anywhere on what would be necessary to port a TMobile Rom over the the DE Verizon Note 4?

The dev edition (617) ruu won't fix the issue. As far as voLte is concerned, it's basically the same as running a custom rom in that you can still be affected by the issue and you can't disable Ehanced (or HD) Voice in the rom (this is tied to your sim and not the rom, I think).
Currently, this is the best solution, I think...flash an att RUU (502 - either 1.32 or 2.6, it doesn't really matter) . Then go into Mobile network settings, and disable Enhanced Voice. Once this is disabled in stock ATT rom, you can flash a custom rom and that setting should stick.
Alternatively, you might try getting on with ATT support to see if they can disable that setting on their end.

Did y'all get this working? ICE 3.1.1 now supports VoLTE. I've been using it for a few days now and you can change your HD Voice settings within the rom (no need to call AT&T or flash back to stock).
Also, I don't know if any of you experienced the related issue where you couldn't set up call forwarding, but that works now too with ICE.
Jollywhitefoot - no - didnt get it working. Was about to flashback to Factory Stock ROM from AT&T, change settings, then flash back to VIPERONE... but I would certainly appreciate it if you can provide more info about how to obtain this update to overcome the 4G issue.. Many thanks in advance!

I don't know about other roms, but the latest version of Ice gives you the capability to turn HD voice on and off without reverting to stock. It also includes d. AT&T vvm and messaging app.
I also no longer can receive calls unless my network is set to 3g. Call out works fine on lte. It is a Stock 5.1 rom (rooted, S-off)
I have installed the GPE dialer (Wonder if this is the cause and how)
I have google voice as my vm and notice that when I try to change any call forwarding settings that i get "Network or SIM card error"
I have tried turning on and off the Enhanced 4GLTE Mode and do not get calls either on or off.
Anything else I can try?
KeithG
I have the same problem. Can't receive calls unless I use 3G. This is really frustrating! Anyone know of a solution?
I am not advocating for any of what I did, but I am now on ViperOne 4.3.0 (Marshmallow based). I can receive calls at home, at work and in buildings where I noted that I missed calls previously. My guess as to why this happens is that the phone was not switching over to 3G as the LTE signal degraded (when in a building, for example). I do not know if ViperOne 3.5.0 fixes this or not as I did not test it for any period to see. (You can flash 3.5.0 to an AT&T phone while still on the Lollipop firmware and being S-On). I am happy that the AT&T bloat is off and can receive calls again. To do this, requires S-Off and flashing the correct firmware to get ViperOne 4.3.0, at least on AT&T.
Alternately, you can complain to your carrier (Is it AT&T?) and see if they can help you get it resolved as it does not seem to be a phone hardware problem, but a software (or maybe provisioning issue on the carrier's end?).

Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-M919 sound not working on calls.

I can call people and receive calls on my phone but no one can hear me and I can't hear anyone. I don't even hear a tone when it's dialing sometimes. I'll call someone and they'll answer and it will just be silent and vice versa on both ends of the call, I'll receive a call and it will be totally silent. I have already gone thru all the troubleshooting steps I can think of even going as far as to have my carrier send me another model of the same phone and getting a new sim card they have made many tickets on this issue and have deemed its not network related. Below I have attached 3 log cats of the issue. Sorry they were to big to upload to XDA directly. So here are 3 links to the downloads. The issue is happening on stock non rooted knox isn't tripped

What ROM are you using?
What mods are you using..
Please be more specific..
I was using the Hulk Kernel on the Google Play Edition ROM..
and I was playing with the Faux Sound mod, and it killed all my sound..
Uninstalling the mod corrected my sound issues.. It may not be your issue, but that was my example..
I suggest flashing to STOCK..
BTW those links are ENCRYPTED!
If you can use a video call app like Tango or Skype and you have sound it will most likely be the sound chip not connecting to the modem and using WiFi for voice /video transmission.
Time for a replacement phone.
