As far as I know koodo uses the same new Telus radio.

Look at broadband version in your koodo stock rom. Betting its the Telus radio.

OK, the reason is that my phone keeps thinking tel us is the provider and I would like it to show the Koodo branding, and also look to Koodo for provisioning.

I think 4.1.2 merged Telus and koodo as far as software goes since koodo uses Telus. Just easier for Samsung and/or the carriers I guess. Not sure you can change anything about that. A dev probably could, but can't see it happening. Unless the dev was on koodo maybe.

Hi, I might have a chance at getting a deal on a SGH-T989D from a former Telus customer. But almost all the roms here are described as being for the SGH-T989. Are these phones not the same where you can run the same roms? Definitely don't want to buy a phone that has no developer support even if the deal is good.
It can run the same rom.

If you are on TMO you should be able to flash a TMO radio without any issues as well ..... as long as the phone is UNLOCKED ...

Yes I am confused about this as well. If these phones are identical and can both run the same roms, then why THIS post indicating that the roms in this forum are only for *TMobile* GSII's? With emphasis put on TMobile.
Thanks.

I'm using the Telus version (T989D) and as far as I can tell, the only difference is the button combo to get into download mode. I've flashed a number of roms from this sub forum and they don't work any differently.

Mainly to differentiate from the i9100 SGSII variants.
Also, the T989D has no exterior Telus branding.

It's really hard to get the ICS ROMs to work sometimes. They seem to be pretty finicky. I've read some users have had to do a Superwipe, flash the ROM, then wipe the data and cache again and reflash.
I can confirm that Racing's, RaverX3X's and the Cleansed ICS are all capable of running on my T989D.

Yes of coarse, believe me I love Telus ROM better. well not just ROM, the exterior of T989D looks even much better as hideous T-mobile logo is nowhere to be found.
Since I am on T-mobile network, I just wanted to try T-mobile stock from the core. Reinstalling drivers now, before reflashing odin.

Has anyone tried flashing latest T-mobile stock on T989D?
I gave up on Odin flashing my T989D with T-mobile stock.
I have tried both KID and VK but both fail at the same spot. It would fail at around at 98% mark.
I flashed Telus Stock now and then rooted it again. It's running flawless.
Too bad I can not try T-mobile wifi calling. I never use wifi calling on other capable phones anyways but I wanna have all the options available
Please let me know if any Telus owners out there who have successfully odin flashed T-mobile original stock unrooted on their S II X.
also one has Corning Gorilla Glass and the other doesnt I believe the telus one doesnt have it.

Hi, If you want to enable T-mobile wifi calling you can pull the kernel out from the tar.md5 by using 7-zip and/or WinRAR. You should see boot.bin and or boot.tar that will have the kernel modules KinetoGAN required for wifi calling. You should be able to fine a flash package in the T-mobile section that will enable the RIL switch. I would suggest this process:
Flash stock Telus
Flash CF root
Flash RIL package for T-mob
Flash the bin file you extracted from the T-mobile ROM package
Run the CF-unroot script.
Done!
PS: I stumbled across this whilst looking for info in the SGH-T989 for making a kernel for a non-developed Galaxy Tab 8.9 4G/LTE...I know a little about wifi calling so thought I would throw that in there for you goodluck
To all who may have taken advantage of the $300 -$100 Visa or Gift Card for this phone: What Version and Baseband is your phone running?
My phone is running Android 4.0.4 & T989DTLLG2. I find no reference to this baseband on Koodo, Telus, Samsung or searching Google for that matter.
Who can confirm that this is the new valid version and baseband for Koodo?
FYI, I just spent an hour on the phone with "Tech Support" who only wanted to argue with me that this "information wasn't relevant or is available to her". Her customer service was atrocious which in fairness to Koodo was the first time I've encountered such bad service.
Koodo = Telus basically, TLLE4 is the ICS radio for telus so I would assume that TLLG2 would be koodo just different naming schemes, or it seems like as it's the same phone. Plus the telus radio is more than likely compatible with the koodo phone.
Correct Koodo is a Telus subsidiary but Telus' version is 4.0.3 and Koodo's is 4.0.4. This leads me to believe the radio could be an upgrade rather than just a rename.
Any one confirm or refute that Telus radio T989DTLLE4 = Koodo T989DTLLG2?

To extract the radio, follow the steps here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506212
To get the system image, just do a nandroid backup in CWM and extract the system TAR file (not the other CACHE/DATA files which may contain your personal information).

Here is a link where you can download the stock TLLG2 Koodo Radio. And for the stock TLLE4 Telus radio you can download it from here.
You should be able to download a .zip file which you can flash through CWM/TWRP. A little searching through the threads goes a long way. Cheers!

Hello,
First time poster here. Thanks to everyone in this community for all of the help and info.
I have acquired a Rogers S3 and will be using it on Telus Mobility. It is unlocked and works great.
I know how to get to a rooted Rogers stock ROM.
My question is - can I change the stock ROM on the phone from Rogers to Telus stock ROM?
The idea is to turn it into a "telus" phone and work from there as far as trying new things with my phone.
Thanks for any info.

I am not certain what your goal is here but you are going to have to root in order to do this, so I would suggest root, backup current rom, slow strip out any "Rogers" stuff you don't want. I don't think there is much difference between the 2 roms other than bloatware. There are very few telus apps on my phone. So I am not sure you will actually gain much.
Root it and put on Task's AOKP rom and be done with it.
You can install a rooted Telus Rom, or ODIN back to Telus Stock S3 rom. As said above, only difference is bloatware..
Thanks Guys,
I figured out how to get rid of the Rogers bloatware, and have the phone set up as I like it for now.
At some point, I will try some of the other ROMs offered here.
Hey there guys,
I looked everywhere to find the answer to this question, but I have yet to find it. My roommate just bought an unlocked ATT Galaxy S4 and he has T-mobile service. However, he doesnt get wifi calling and that feature is vital. So here is my question:
Is it possible to flash the 100% stock odin T-Mobile Galaxy S4 rom on an unlocked ATT Galaxy S4 without any issues? What should I do? I appreciate any help out there that I can get.
Andrew
From my research (due to the exact same issues), the ATT s4 has different radio hardware, so it wouldn't work, at least not with a stock T-mobile rom.

But if I flash the tmobile radio or the modified att radio with AWS enabled, I should be ok right? The thing I worry about the most is bricking the device via odin flash.
There are threads about applying an AWS patch to AT&T phones to make them work on T-Mobile's network. I have not personally tested but was under the impression the radio hardware was ok it was more of a matter of TMo using one frequency for download vs upload on AT&T (or vice versa). A TMo sales rep told me he did that on his girlfriend's phone (which is an S3) and got it to work fine.

Don't Odin flash different variant's 100% stock images. If it's a CWM/TWRP flashable ROM you won't have any problems so long as you use the AT&T kernel. Flashing other variant's radios/firmware may cause problems. With you having an AT&T device, use modem/baseband/firmware. The AT&T AWS Enabled Radio can be found here
I have been searching the web for long time try to find the exactly same answer, but I haven't found any reliable source on it. If anyone has tried this and work, please post a guide here for us, thanks ahead!

It suppose to be the exact same phone since all of the models this company Claro have are the same as the canadians, ok so i flash the 4.3 update of the rogers version from my model and now i dont have service, i got the bars and maybe i can get like 1 minute of data and that's it, another thing is that if i was using an unlock phone the only thing i need to do to make it work is putting the apn settings and im good to go, but with the update that i did to my phone i can put the apn settings but there is a part that changed on the apn settings field. and i dont know if that's the problem cause normally i have to write default, supl on that part and now all i get is three choices to choose and doesnt let me write anything. I wonder if someone from this forum know how can i go back to a Claro PR firmware or if anyone has one that can send it out to me. I do have that firmware but for some reason when i try to flash it via odin it fails to install, i dont know if that has to do with the fact that i manage to update from 4.1.1 to 4.3 and that's not letting me go back to 4.1.1 stock, but every 4.3 firmware i can flash it without a problem or if i root the phone and flash a rom i can and i did but still no stable data, if a boot up the phone i can get a little bit of service for like a minute then it drops.
