Hey there guys,
I looked everywhere to find the answer to this question, but I have yet to find it. My roommate just bought an unlocked ATT Galaxy S4 and he has T-mobile service. However, he doesnt get wifi calling and that feature is vital. So here is my question:
Is it possible to flash the 100% stock odin T-Mobile Galaxy S4 rom on an unlocked ATT Galaxy S4 without any issues? What should I do? I appreciate any help out there that I can get.
Andrew
From my research (due to the exact same issues), the ATT s4 has different radio hardware, so it wouldn't work, at least not with a stock T-mobile rom.

But if I flash the tmobile radio or the modified att radio with AWS enabled, I should be ok right? The thing I worry about the most is bricking the device via odin flash.
There are threads about applying an AWS patch to AT&T phones to make them work on T-Mobile's network. I have not personally tested but was under the impression the radio hardware was ok it was more of a matter of TMo using one frequency for download vs upload on AT&T (or vice versa). A TMo sales rep told me he did that on his girlfriend's phone (which is an S3) and got it to work fine.

Don't Odin flash different variant's 100% stock images. If it's a CWM/TWRP flashable ROM you won't have any problems so long as you use the AT&T kernel. Flashing other variant's radios/firmware may cause problems. With you having an AT&T device, use modem/baseband/firmware. The AT&T AWS Enabled Radio can be found here
I have been searching the web for long time try to find the exactly same answer, but I haven't found any reliable source on it. If anyone has tried this and work, please post a guide here for us, thanks ahead!

I'm running the ModdedUAMDL_v2 on my i337 right now with no issues. I have also flashed the AWS enabled modem and haven't had a problem with data at all. Just be sure to flash a LOKIFYED kernel after flashing the ROM or it won't boot.

I just found this thread. I enabled the AWS frequencies on my i337, can you post what ROM you used and what instructions you used? so do you have wifi calling enabled now?
Thanks
my main two interests are
-wifi calling
-mobile hotspot, as it is included in my plan but the AT&T rom won't let me use it
You can use any of the touch wiz roms in the t-mobile section. Just make sure to flash att kernel

Hi, I might have a chance at getting a deal on a SGH-T989D from a former Telus customer. But almost all the roms here are described as being for the SGH-T989. Are these phones not the same where you can run the same roms? Definitely don't want to buy a phone that has no developer support even if the deal is good.
It can run the same rom.

If you are on TMO you should be able to flash a TMO radio without any issues as well ..... as long as the phone is UNLOCKED ...

I'm using the Telus version (T989D) and as far as I can tell, the only difference is the button combo to get into download mode. I've flashed a number of roms from this sub forum and they don't work any differently.

Mainly to differentiate from the i9100 SGSII variants.
Also, the T989D has no exterior Telus branding.

It's really hard to get the ICS ROMs to work sometimes. They seem to be pretty finicky. I've read some users have had to do a Superwipe, flash the ROM, then wipe the data and cache again and reflash.
I can confirm that Racing's, RaverX3X's and the Cleansed ICS are all capable of running on my T989D.
Are you sure these two are identicial in terms of hardware?

Yes of coarse, believe me I love Telus ROM better. well not just ROM, the exterior of T989D looks even much better as hideous T-mobile logo is nowhere to be found.
Since I am on T-mobile network, I just wanted to try T-mobile stock from the core. Reinstalling drivers now, before reflashing odin.

It keeps failing at the very end of flashing process. while doing this toward the end of the flashing process-> amss.bin

Has anyone tried flashing latest T-mobile stock on T989D?
I gave up on Odin flashing my T989D with T-mobile stock.
I have tried both KID and VK but both fail at the same spot. It would fail at around at 98% mark.
I flashed Telus Stock now and then rooted it again. It's running flawless.
Too bad I can not try T-mobile wifi calling. I never use wifi calling on other capable phones anyways but I wanna have all the options available
Please let me know if any Telus owners out there who have successfully odin flashed T-mobile original stock unrooted on their S II X.
also one has Corning Gorilla Glass and the other doesnt I believe the telus one doesnt have it.
but check the chart on gsmarena.com

Hi, If you want to enable T-mobile wifi calling you can pull the kernel out from the tar.md5 by using 7-zip and/or WinRAR. You should see boot.bin and or boot.tar that will have the kernel modules KinetoGAN required for wifi calling. You should be able to fine a flash package in the T-mobile section that will enable the RIL switch. I would suggest this process:
Flash stock Telus
Flash CF root
Flash RIL package for T-mob
Flash the bin file you extracted from the T-mobile ROM package
Run the CF-unroot script.
Done!
PS: I stumbled across this whilst looking for info in the SGH-T989 for making a kernel for a non-developed Galaxy Tab 8.9 4G/LTE...I know a little about wifi calling so thought I would throw that in there for you goodluck
Wondering if anyone was daring enough to try flashing the International N9005 firmware on the Tmo Note3?

Hi - I have bought an AT&T S4 with the following version:
4.2.2
I337UCUAMDL
I did the XDA method for unlock, it worked great. Then did super root and it worked, also installed TWRP. I've also done the AWS band unlock.
Now, the biggest challenge, which rom do I install for the stock T-mobile features? Mainly I just want a stable rom with T-mobile wifi calling.
I would appreciate the help.

What do you mean? In the Development section there are plain ole rooted/stock and modified stock T-Mo ROMs with WiFi calling. Based on MDB, MDL, and MK2 now; you may have to dig a little farther than page 1 for the MDB/MDL bases, but they're there.

You are absolutely right, what's needed is:
1: AT&T Unlocked Phone
2: Tmobile Sim Card
3: Any Tmobile rom which is based on Samsung 4.2.2 or 4.3 Jellybean firmware.(rom)
Anyone who meets these three criterias can have wifi calling.
Thank you, that is what i needed to know.
Now, I just need to find a reliable T-mobile rom. If anyone has thread links or a name of the rom, please let me know.
I'll see if there is a stock T-mobile rom available that can be flashed on a rooted AT&T phone with 4.2.2 (MK2)

moving ATT s4 on MK2 baseband to T-Mobile?
Thank you for this thread...
Can someone explain how having an ATT Galaxy s4 MK2 baseband will limit the installation of T-Mobile ROMs?
Or if it actually doesn't? I understand (from ATT threads) that being on MK2 means I must use specific ROMs compatible with SafeStrap.
Do limitations arise from the MK2 bootloader, and not the MK2 modem? Are the two separate?
I'm lost with how this impacts my use of T-Mobile ROMs and appreciate any elaboration on the topic. Thank you kindly

SGH-M919 is the T-Mobile variant, so it should be no problem.
The easiest way to go back to stock is to use KIES, but that will revert you back to V.
You can download stock and flash with ODIN. As long as it is stock T-Mobile and you have a T-Mobile account, WiFi calling will work fine.

No, the modem wouldn't be your problem. Since you are already updated to the official 4.4.2, you now have KNOX to worry about. If you don't care about setting the 0x1 flag, your best bet would more than likely be to flash a custom recovery and a modded/stock ROM specifically for the M919 from the Android Development section. You keep mentioning that you have a Nextel device... just to confirm, you have a T-Mobile SIM, correct? Because if not, WiFi calling won't work for you anyway.
Yup, I have a T-mobile account and the phone has a T-mobile SIM in it
I don't think that KNOX flag is an issue as it is an unlocked Non T-mobile phone.
If I have an issue with the phone at all T-mobile is not going to support it.
The model phone I have apparently is exactly the same as the T-mobile branded phone, when I registered it with Samsung they identify it as a T-mobile phone.

Like I said, you'll probably have to forget going the Odin route and use a custom recovery and modded/stock T-Mobile TouchWiz ROM.

Yeah, most every ROM posted in the development section is stable, TouchWiz or AOSP. Just make sure you read the OP to confirm that whichever ROM has WiFi calling included as there are TW ROMs which have been ported to our device from other carrier's S4s.... Only those specifically for the M919 will have WiFi calling and it will be specified in the OP. I'm not going to recommend which ROM to flash, but from someone who's tried them all... you can't make a bad decision whatever you choose.

Yes, you can. The only S4 ROMs you should stay away from are those made for the i9500 and non-standard S4's (i.e. S4 mini, S4 Active, etc). Any other variant of the standard S4 (including the i9505G) is good to go; just use a kernel for your specific device. On that note though, the i9505 and M919 kernels are interchangeable, so there's no need to follow that protocol when using our ROMs for your device and vice versa.

After doing some research my question:
The reason I can't use this firmware is due to the fact that my current baseband is higher than the one I was attempting to flash.
