Registration issue - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

I just got my Note 8 a couple days ago. I set it up on the Note before I go to website to register. Interestingly, I found my account already has a Note 8 black/brown registered with a different serial number. My is white, so I register again with the Perks link. I got the e-mail with the bonus offer afterward. I still don't know why it got another Note registered in my account.

OMG TMO Support Sux

Geez, tried to get the correct smtp info for the dash and the people at TMO support are incompetant. They said to use "myemail.t-mobile.com" with your phone number and password (last for of social) (real secure *hugh*) for the username and password.
Does not work. Spoke to 7 different people, each stupider (yes stupider) than the next. Almost seems like they are telemarketers with a pamphlet of Q&A.
All I need is a working smtp server.
Before you start blaming people, do note T-mobile has been 1 or 2 in customer care, for cell phone companies. For the past 4 to 6 yrs.

Now tv movie offer?

Anyone know how to activate the 3 month free movie offer with now tv that comes with these tablets in the UK?

I've asked the same question of Samsung by email. They said to use the voucher to activate on NowTV website....I've gone back and said what voucher as there wasn't one!
I've provided them with my sn and to send me the details....will update this as soon as I've received a response.
Ok thanks for the info. Can you tell me what email address you used so I can email them too.

You need to go online and apply for the gift.
http://www.samsung.com/uk/galaxygifts/
I presume it should be available via the My Galaxy app but the servers are not available. Therefore follow the link and then it allows you to claim online. Just trying to complete it but it asks for the IMEI number. I thought that was only for mobile numbers. Tried the S/N nut wants 15 characters?
No tab s 8.4 on the offer list either, Even though it says otherwise on their advertising. Will have to email them.

just been onto the Galaxy Gifts helpdesk. To get past the IMEI enter 12 zeros and any other three numbers. It then allows you complete your personal details and then you receive the voucher with your code for Now TV!

Can confirm this works with 8.4 version too [emoji6]

I would contact them directly as you are right the 8.4 is not on the website. The number is 08433209341, they were helpful. On the link from the email it does say galaxy tab S owners so presume both sizes.
The NOW TV Sky Movies Pass will be valid for 1 month for Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4 mini customers, 2 months for Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Note 3 customers (Note 3 offer applicable to P4U customers only) and 3 months for Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S customers.
I did the same. Selected 8.4 pro and entered 15 random digits for the IMEI. You get an acceptance email straight away. Now trying to add the voucher to my account but the website doesnt work?!
I'm trying to go into my account, where apparently there is an enter voucher section but the website keeps bouncing back to the main landing screen when you click on My Account
Anyone else had any success with this?

Worked for me. I clicked on the link in the email which took me to the nowtv sign up page, set up a new account and entered the promo code.
Btw, I signed up on my laptop, not through the tablet.

Try to make a new account then bind it with your device through devoper option then unlock through miunlock
Get your redmi 5a replaced its hardware error.
Hi
I had same problem as i tried to unlock it the day i received it, when contacted customer care they told me to post my problem to mi fourm (which I did) but no dev were able to resolve it.(also there are many people waiting for months and years to get it resolved which Mi has not been able to) so after waiting for a week as some support guy suggested but then finally went to repair center to get it resolved as if its a software problem they can simply flash latest version it i gen then bind my account but even after that my problem persisted and after some discussion they said its a hardware problem and I should get it replaced from retailer I have purchased it(Mi.com).
after this i immediately contacted mi support as my 10 day replacement policy was about to lapse but then after lot of talking and call disconnecting I finally made them to register my complaint for replacement and now I have new redmi 5a with my account successfully binded the day I received it.
P.S- 1. Immediately mail them about your problem of 86006 then call them about it, 2. Visit service center get your problem documented on job sheet, 3. Call them again to file a complaint for replacement citing service center job sheet that problem is Hardware related.

This is legendary error when binding your Mi Account on device. I already failed when binding Mi Account on Redmi 4x, even use china PVN, change Mi Account and so on.

IMEI question

I bought an unlocked Galaxy S20+ on OfferUp (SM-G986U1) at a great price. Everything looks and works as expected. Initially it looked like the software couldn't be updated (Android security update: March 1, 2020; current version: ...ATBN). When I tried to update the software, this message appeared: "Your current software version isn't supported. Visit a service center."
I was able to reinstall the factory image using Odin, and updating has been smooth since then. I'm currently running the latest version: ...ATG2, security update: July 1, 2020. Everything is working great, with absolutely no issues. I'm using the phone with AT&T.
I tried to register the phone to my account at Samsung.com, but it said that the IMEI was invalid. I looked up the IMEI on various IMEI checking sites, and they all claim that the device is a Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910C) from 2014. That seems really odd, since it's most definitely a Galaxy S20+ (SM-G986U1, manufactured on January 20, 2020, according to DevCheck.)
Does anyone know what's going on here? Are IMEIs ever reused? I thought that an IMEI was unique for any given device.
I thought I'd check here before asking Samsung Support.
Thanks!

XDA Labs mobile app detected my device (SM-G981W) also as a note 4 so I wouldn't be concerned about imei sites incorrectly showing it as something else.
Check the Samsung members app (galaxy store if you don't have it). From the Get Help tab in the app it will display your model # and also give you the option to register so i would try that to see if it is detected correctly, and are able to register.
I can live with the fact that IMEI checking sites report the wrong model number, but it's odd that I keep getting "invalid IMEI" messages when I try to register my device at Samsung.com or through the Samsung Members app. It's not a huge deal, since everything is working perfectly and it looks like you have to provide proof of purchase to submit any warranty claims, which I can't since I bought the phone used on OfferUp, but it's just odd that an invalid IMEI keeps being reported, even by Samsung.

Previous owner must have registered it already
>> Previous owner must have registered it already.
So that makes warranty meaningless. If it's already registered to someone else's account and I buy that phone from that person, I can no longer register the phone to my own account? That effectively renders the warranty useless, particularly also because I need to provide proof of purchase to even be able to register. My Galaxy S20+ is working perfectly at the moment, and I have no reason to believe it won't continue to do that, but it's frustrating that the one-year warranty is only imaginary in my case, even though the phone was released only a couple of months ago. It looks like the one-year warranty only applies to the original buyer, not to whoever buy a Samsung phone used.
Google seems to work the same way with their Pixels.
That's one thing that Apple does really well. Warranty is directly tied to a piece of hardware (serial number) and not to a user account. You don't need to register a device to 'activate' the warranty. The iPad Pro that I bought on OfferUp still has AppleCare+ on it till the end of this year. Nothing needed to be transferred or anything. You can go to a website, punch in the serial number, and you know immediately what the warranty status is. I can walk into any Apple store and make a warranty claim if necessary.
(I'll still take an Android phone any day over an iPhone, but still...)

its also likely they changed the imei to that of a note 4 maybe it wasnt a unlocked u1 model but they changed imei to sim unlock it and flashed to u1 firmware and imei was originally registered to a note 4
As far as I know, the 'U1' model is the unlocked version coming straight from Samsung. The 'U' model is locked and tied to a specific carrier (say, AT&T).
Apparently it's possible to change the IMEI of a phone, but it's quite a hassle. It's ultimately not a huge deal, since everything is working like a charm, but it's odd...
