hey guys, i recently purchased a htc one x that has been installed with cm10.1 from another person, so now i am trying to flash back to stock but the thing is i dont know my CID, i tried to use CID getter but it doesn't show any CID, i have also tried using the toolkit, but it just says <waiting for devices> and nothing happened after that, i tried to use cmd as well, but somehow it doesn't work..... i lost contact with the previous owner... can anyone help me? i really need to know my CID so that i can install SENSE ROM
Enter the fastboot mode and type this command:
fastboot getvar cid
Now you will see your current CID

yeah i've tried it but it doesn't showed my CID, so i finally get to know my CID through htc one x toolkit, i open the fastboot n it showed my CID is HTC_044, just to be sure, there is no way that a phone can have 2 CID right? or is it possible that my phone shows the wrong CID? i really am paranoid about it...

presuming you unlocked your bootloader, it has been removed so you can flash custom roms
I also suffer from the same thing...
Although when I use " adb shell getprop ro.cid " command I get my CID as HTC__J15, when I use " fastboot getvar cid" the result is "none"...
My phone was unlocked, rooted and had ARHD 4.0 until this morning but I successfully flashed stock signed recovery, re-locked the bootloader and installed RUU...
This was all done to wait for the OTA 1.29.415.x
But now I am not sure If I can get this OTA since I have CID:none with fastboot command...
Any ideas? shall I wait for the OTA or just get back to new and magnificent ARHD 5.0???

Thanks but there is a never ending discussion whether the radio is also updated through custom ROM instead of OTA... The radio shows correctly updated under software, but still incorrectly in the hboot.
Do you have any idea about this issue?
Unfortunately I still can not ask anything under relevant thread because this is only my third post =)
In other words newbie at the forum and with android phones =)

Well welcome to the forums! And from what I have read it appears that it is included, but a new version of hboot isn't included and that needs to be updated separately. But I can't say that is from me skimming over some of the threads over the past couple of days

thanks to you, after:
- adb shell getprop ro.cid
I have learnt that
- fastboot oem readcid
also gives me the same result:
(bootloader) DEBUG: cid: HTC__J15
OKAY [ 0.097s]
finished. total time: 0.097s
So does it mean that I'll be able to get OTA 1.29.415.x without any problem?!
cid: VODAP021
what does this even mean!
used fastboot oem readcid to get it, only part i know is VODA for Vodafone.
Isnt it mean't to be HTC_xxx
PS. fastboot getvar cid = none
Use fastboot oem readcid
Also guys, if your CID is not listed THEN it won't work and you cannot install JB. How hard is that to comprehend? No ifs and no buts, if the numbers martch up, doesn't matter, the letters must match as well. If nothing matches then tough luck.
I rooted this one x but want to take to stock. My question is does the ruu run right from the phones hboot menu?
Since no external sd if I download ruu direct to phone and power into hboot will it do its thing or is a pc required ?
I'm used to renameing the ruu to a .IMG
When I did this on other htc devices
Also am I to rename the ruu to something specific?
Any links to the latest ruu for the atat one x
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Ann RUU is an EXE that you run with your phone connected in fastboot mode to the computer
Then what is the method used like on other devices like evo and thunderbolt
Where you download it rename it to pc36img and boot into hboot and it reads that and.returns phone to stock what's different with the hox
So what do I need to do Downlosd it to a pc connect via usb and put into fastboot and then hit exe in the ruu folder

This is the process to go back stock as long as you have the correct RUU for your One X.
Go into fastboot, flash stock recovery (make sure it's the correct one)
Then fastboot oem lock
Then keep it in fastboot and run the RUU.exe, follow the process and it should do the rest

I would like to reinstall Anroid 4.0.4 after uprading to Jelly Beans. I found the kernel source code here: http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads, and now I would like to install it.
The source code comes as a file called:
endeavoru-2.6.39-6b459dc.tar.gz
How do I go about installing the kernel? I have ClockWorkMod installed if that helps. I have noticed that the kernel does not come with a boot.img file etc, therefore do I need to compile it?
Please help if you can

There's loads of returning to stock threads in this Q&A section, you're not the first to want to do it.
The boot.img is specific to the ROM version.
There is a sticky Endeavor Shipped ROM Collection thread with RUUs in the dev section, password for filefactory on page 173.

RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_Vodafone_UK_1.29.161.13_Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_264070_signed.exe
Each time I have had an error message saying it is the wrong version. Is there any preperation that I need to do.. e.g do I need to lock the bootloader again? etc
What's the exact error? Vodafone UK should have CID of VODAP001 if I recall, and the last RUU you tried should be correct.
Before you go too far, it will be worth grabbing your unlock code from htcdev.
To flash RUU will need to be locked:
fastboot oem lock
And you might need stock recovery
fastboot flash recovery signed_recovery.img
Hopefully that'll give you a decent starting point.

Only the cid will get you nowhere. The main version is important.
Fastboot getvar version-main
That number will tell the ruu number you need (if its available to begin with) and it tells the bootloader hboot version.
Cid is just a region number without additional info.
