Mountek nGrove Snap Car Mount - One (M7) Accessories

I received my new car mount today from Mountek. It was part of a crowdsource campaign on IndieGogo.
The mount sits in your CD slot. You can also remove a piece and just wedge it in a seem on the dashboard. Alternatively it can be used with a tripod mount or as a kickstand alone.
I drove around with it tonight and did not have any issues so far.

Hey, I've had that mount for some time now. How does the metal plate look on the back of your phone? I've had the poetic flipbook case and got lucky since the "flap" cover was metal. Since the phone is "curved", do you have any trouble with how the plate is adhered?

[XOOM 2] Xoom 2 ME - Official Portfolio Case

Just bought the Xoom 2 Media Edition, and whilst I'm very happy with the tablet, the portfolio case is proving to be something of a letdown. Specifically it won't stay upright in the 'film watching' position; it just slides back and falls down :-(
Anyone else have any comments about this case?

The rubberised strips on mine are on the other side of the flap on the case... no wonder it doesn't work!

Replacement case arrived from Motorola and... it stays upright now! The problem with the first case was definitely that the rubberised strips weren't... er... rubbery enough
The 'correct' way to stand it up is as I attempted in my video; it just requires a case that's not faulty ;-)

The bad news is that after a week, the replacement case also has lost its ability to stand up. My conclusion is: don't bother with this case if you want to use it to prop up the Xoom :-(
The rubbery strips on the case that should prop it up seem to be a major design flaw. Bad show, Motorola.

I just got the Motorola, case from heck, to work. I used foam double sided mounting tape. The kind used to hang light pictures on the wall without using nails.
2 x ½" x 1" strips put into each groove. The tape did not stick well to the textured case. I heated it a shot from a gas lighter (biggest trick in this hack). Zoom's metal case is highly polished and touches the strips in a line. It does not get glue on it and is not sticky removed from the groove.
I'm sure that the strips will need replacement but it takes about 1 minute and I got roll of tape from a $1 store for a couple of feet or tape.

If you aren't happy with the case you got. I got one for my XOOM 2 10.1 that has multiple viewing angles, and it also detaches and can be rotated to multiple vertical angles.

I have Galaxy Nexus GSM. I'm wondering if it fits.
I sent an email to the customer service but I'm wondering your comments
I sent email to customer service and this is the answer that i received
Dear xxx,
I have searched on google about your phone, and it says the width is 2.67 inches wide.
Our car mount's adjustable width size is from 2" to 3.2", so it won't be a problem.
Hope this information was helpful, and if you have any other question, please feel free to email us back.
Best regards,

I have the iOttie mount and its just decent. I have my Gnex in an otterbox defender case and it barely is wide enough to hold it..with maybe a 1/4" to spare..
My phone vibrated and fell out some. It might be more stable if I permanently mounted it to the dash instead of putting it on the windshield.
But give it a go if you want. Its dirt cheap on amazon.

How thick are the adhesive plates protruding from the case? can you post a pic?
Its about 5 sheets of copier paper. Very thin. A lot thinner than a credit card.

I've been using the iOttie one touch mount. There's a newer one that just came out called the Easy Flex 2 but I've been using the original one called Easy One Touch. Best car mount I've used. There's a button on the dock plate that when pushed in the 2 arms grab onto the phone and it's pretty secure. To remove it just squeeze the 2 buttons on the side of the mount and the arms open up and the phone pops out.
It's not a powered dock so you have to plug in your adapter straight into the phone. Most times if my phone is fully charged I don't plug it in and it's a very clean look.
I keep an NFC sticker by the dock to turn on GPS and car mode so with this mount everything is just so quick. Check it out and let me know if you have any questions.

LGV20 VENA Wallet case & Car Vent Mount Magnets

So I was watching this item for $18.99 for quite some time. I recieved a $25 Amazon Card for Christmas...to my surprise I found this case was now listed at $9..99 so I decide to get the car vent magnets as well ($6.99.)
Case
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M25X7TI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Magnet
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M25X7TI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The case seems built very well. It does add some width, a little mass, but my no means does it turn the phone into a "brick" (pun intended.)It easily holds 3 cards; my license, my pistol permit, and my debit card (inside its protective sleeve...case is magnetic, just in case.) I actually like the look and feel and practicality of not needing to carry a wallet. So far, so good. I haven't driven with it magnetically attached to air vent clip so I can offer no opinion of the holding ability...some Amazon reviewers suggested purchasing a second magnets. All in all, I'd say this is a pretty good value.
I am intrigued by this case but your link for the magnet went to the information for the phone. Which magnetic vent mount did you use?

I did, I like the case but I love the CD Mount even better. Very non-obtrusive build and the magnet holds very well. I have put the including disc in my other case and I use them interchangeably.
Would definitely recommend both!
I bought the magnet, works amazing.
I used both of the metal plates that came with it because I use a case.
I have this case and I use it with a dashboard magnet mount that I found @ Marshalls. the case holds awesome over bumps and flying around in my car.
As for the case itself, Its been great so far. It makes it a little bulkier but I like it cause it makes it easier to handle. It is the best card case that I have found so far not counting any of those wallet cases.
The only thing I wish was that it was a little gripper than the material used.
It has a raised bevel so it doesnt lay flat on the screen and same with the rear camera for protection.
There are no covers for the ports except for the volume buttons.
It fits 3 cards snugly even if all 3 cards have raised numbers. The cards are easy to get out too as it has a little slope which makes it easier to slide the cards out. I usually carry drivers license and debit card while switching out the 3rd with either cash or a gift card. It's great not having to carry a wallet anymore.
Using a magnet mount in a vehicle is a lot easier than using the other kinds where you have to release the clamps or something.
I use it daily any time I'm driving and I have never had it fall off the mount although I have had the mount itself become unstuck from my dashboard but it was only twice when I didnt have it seated properly.

Car Mount recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a good car mount?
I just bought some cheesy magnetic thing from Amazon. Will be returning ASAP. Ideally, I think I'm looking for something that can clip into either the air vents or on the dash of my car. I realized there probably aren't many pixel specific accessories made yet, but maybe someone has had good success with a different model for an earlier phone?
Anyway just wondering what you all were planning on using.
I've been using a good magnetic mount for the CD slot in my car since the Nexus 5 days. I like the Koomus brand of them from Amazon.

I've had the third generation iOttie car mount for about a year, and it is excellent. It doesn't have a vent clip, but its suction cup mount is very sturdy. It even comes with a little pad you can use if your dash is textured.
I second the ProClip. You can get a custom mount for your vehicle, and select a separate holder. I've got a custom mount and a universal holder that can be adjusted if you switch phones.
I second the recommendations for iOttie mounts. I bought their wireless charging one back when I got my Galaxy S6, but I still use it with my Pixels because it is incredibly convenient to secure and remove the device. Excellent quality, usability, and adjustability, well worth the purchase.

Looks like a solid product! I have an '09 Kia Spectra and the dash doesn't look like an easy place to put a phone mount. I checked out their custom mount for my car and the only drawback I can see is it completely covers a vent (for a/c) which may or may not be an issues, I won't know until mounted but.. Any experience with that for you?
Yea on my prior vehicle I had it cover the vent. It was out far enough so it still put out air but it wasn't really directional as far as flow as before. Center ones I didn't care as much about being pointed at me to keep cool. It was a solid bracket though

I have an existing car mount for my S7 before I got the XL, it holds the phone in landscape and squeezes the sides. Little concerned that this may not be good for the squeeze sensors. Anyone think it could affect the sensors over time?

Another vote for Proclip's mounting solution. The universal large holder works fine with my Pixel 2 XL with a (Caseology Parallax) case. It's pricey but it works beautifully.
I just ordered the IOAuto magnet holder to use with Proclip's mounting bracket. I'm tired of sliding my phone into the holder. 1st world problems, I know.

I bought the IOAuto Pro. It attaches to the vehicle mount that I purchased previously from Proclip. It comes with small circular metal disks that should be attached to your phone.
I hate the thought of using adhesive to stick anything on my phone so I'm going to try and place the disk between the phone and my TPU case. In think the magnet will still work fine.
Check out YouTube. I've seen a couple of videos of others installing it.

I like this simple magnetic holder:
Techmatte MagGrip Orbit Universal Air Vent Magnetic Car Mount Holder
It requires a thin metal plate which works fine if you use a TPU case or other case that's not too thick on the back; this way, it doesn't require any permanent application. I bought 3 for family members, and a friend got one after seeing mine. It's easy to mount, secure, very simple in design - it uses a steel ball that mounts to an air vent, and a magnetic piece that connects to the ball, giving easy adjustment in all directions, or complete removal. This magnetic piece connects to the phone's steel plate. My wife has an iphone 6P which works well; I have a nexus 5X.

I'm curious to see if that works out for you. I'm intrigued, but it seems like $50 is a bit steep for that mount. If it works well for you with a case, I may consider it though.
I know my solution isn't going to be for everyone, but it works well for my needs. I have a hybrid Proclip/Ram Mount solution. Proclip for the center dash mount, then Ram Mounts for the rest (ball, short arm, and X Grip holder). It's more involved than the common solutions, but it puts my phone right whereIi want it and it's rock solid--which is important for those track days.
As mentioned upthread, this does partially block the vent, but on my Mustang not by too much, and the passenger still gets air flow when it's directed their way. A bonus is the phone stays nice & cool when staying on playing podcasts while commuting, or running the telemetry apps while on track.
I can strongly recommend this one. They're a little pricey but I have them in my truck, car, 4-wheeler and mountain bike. Just the spring clips are strong and when you add the rubber sling it'll hold on to the phone almost no matter what. This one actually fits my P2XL better than my PXL. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0066BWMNU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
