varies from phone to phone.
you need a kernel that has the values for overclocking.
Well, the furthest I've ever seen a GNex do was 1844.2 MHz, on both cores.
But as far as I'm aware, the furthest you can go with, by downloading a kernel from here, is 1650 MHz, with imoseyon's kernel.
I tried overclocking my Gnex before - it worked fine but as you already asked: Why? I have not find any reason to stay overclocked. In my opinion everything already is very fluent.

No one can tell you what the highest stable overclock for your phone will be. Sure, they can tell you what their individual hardware can achieve, but that does not extrapolate into what your phone can or cannot achieve. There's normal variance from phone to phone even if they're configured exactly the same.
Also, this is one of those things that, if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be doing. Not having a firm grasp on what your doing and the consequences thereof is a fast and easy way to end up with a paperweight.

I agree with najaboy, if you don't know how, don't. You'll probably break something.
Look up how to do it instead so you learn.

Note 2 or Optimus G? Definitely Note 2

Hi, I have the Optimus G for 2 days, and its a verrrrryyyyy fast device. What are the Quadrant scores you guys get with Note 2. I still have 12 days that I can exchange.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to get a Optimus G. Just want to know opinions from you guy's.
Edit: After using the Optimus G for 5 days its going back. I decided to get the Note 2 can't use anything that is not Super AMOLED. Thanx to all of you for your replies.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda premium
Didnt screenshot it but 6200 ish is what I was hitting. I remember my low scores was graphics probably due to the huge screen lol.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Quadrant doesnt really matter. Our phones can handle anything you throw at them..
Questions you should ask yourself when trying to decide is:
Do you like the big screen of the Note II or prefer the LG Optimus G's screen?
Do you like the LG overlay or prefer touchwiz?
Will you be rooting and installing kernals? (Because if you are, im pretty sure the boot loader is locked down on the Optimus G so you wont be able to install kernals)
Do you like the build quality of Samsung or LG?
Do you need the removable battery?
^^^^ Answer these questions and you will most likely know your answer.
Hopefully I helped.
Battery life alone is worth it. I'm at 59% with 2 and a half hours screen on, LTE usage, 15 min voice calls, and 15 min navigation use. Google Now is running and I have sync running constantly. Been off the charger for 10.5 hours. Best battery life ever.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Well, here is my battery life on first full charge. Wifi was always on but only connected for about 6 hours (been gone all day). So LTE drain doesn't appear to be an issue as of yet. Lots of texts. 45 minutes streaming netflix movie over LTE While wife was shopping. Took about 300 pics and 15 minutes of video while at zoo. Lotbof internet and son playing Nova 3 for 35 minutes while driving to zoo. I am simply amazed!
Whatever your choice, don't think you will be disappointed if you do switch.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
I still fail to see why do people care about Quadrant so much. It's like, if a company made a phone which did absolutely nothing but get 15k Quadrant scores people would buy it just for it. The GN2 (and I'm sure the Optimus G too) runs buttery smooth with minimal to none lag. It can run everything you throw at it as good as the Optimus G can.
What you should really ask yourself is if you'd rather have a 5.5 size screen vs a 4.7 sized screen. Not everyone likes the 5.5 screen on the GN2.

I was in the same boat and decided on the note 2.
Mostly because it will have developer support and LG doesn't release software updates often (so I've heard).
IMO they are both great phones, I just like Samsung a bit better.
From everything I have heard...LG doesn't put out updates as often...and doesn't have as much support from developers as the Galaxy line does...No SD card support or S-pen with the LG...but has a better screen...but no practical option for multi-veiw..
For my choice...the advantages of what I am going to do with it...the larger screen...the s-pen...the extra storage...makes the Note II the winner..
Mac
I have both phones. The Optimus G is on temporary loan but I've had it for a week or so. It's got a nice heft and I love the rounded edge, but it's an LG. I have worked with their other smartphones in the past and there are always strange little quirks and issues. Not to mention they're horrible track record for releasing updates. This Optimus G has already had problems with the camera not initializing and having to reboot to get it to work. Honestly you wouldn't go wrong with either phone. But I do like the note 2 more. It has a great display, awesome specs, it's just a good all around phone and I suspect there will be a very healthy active developer community. Samsung has already shown that they are able to release updates faster than they have in the past. Maybe it is because cyabogen works for them now. If you really wanted, I could post side by side pictures and benchmarks and stuff like that. What I also like about the Samsung is that it has some added compatibility with other Samsung phones, including the very popular Galaxy S3.

+1. But I still went for the Note II. I handled both at the AT&T store yesterday and am glad I picked up Note II.
I bet the the Note II will have more user development support like roms, kernels, etc than the Optimus G
If the OP is worried with benchmarks, check the sun spider benchmark - the note 2 destroyed the Optimus G (note 2 scores between 1025 and 950 - lower=better) and beats the Optimus G in antutu and several others (look for Engadget review of Nexus 4- shows all major benchmarks between Nexus 4,Optimus G, and Note 2 - Note 2 wins 4 out of 6).
Note 2 has spen (KILLER feature when you use it, so dang useful), excellent battery life, bigger screen (Web page viewing is a pleasure), expandable storage (except for ATT version) , smart stay/rotation features... Such a huge list. Note 2 all the way.
I'm scoring between 6300 and 6500 in quadrant, but I don't give any credence to this score- I find sun spider and antutu more telling of a device's day-to-day performance.

It sounds more like you've already made your decison, since you are asking about if you should Get a certain phone on a forum with an obvious bias (nearly everyone on this GN2 forum has bought it already, so you will pretty much just hear people say get the GN2, because they made that decision, and will probably extend their opinion to you, to justify their own purchase.
TLDR: Don't expect an objective opinion )
That being said. If you like the bigger screen, you will absolutely not be disappointed with the Note 2. I'm sure the Optimus G is pretty good (haven't ever touched one though!) as well, but I can say for sure the Note 2 is one hell of a phone.:victory:

That's not always true. I have an Optimus G, SGS3,Gnote 2, HTC OneX, and many others. The fact that I have all these phones but choose the Gnote 2 as my daily device speaks highly of this phone. I'm not giving my opinion from bias, I'm giving it from having access to most top end phones and when compared side-by-side, the Note 2 is simply superior.

Benchmarks

any tested asop 4.1 vs 4.2 looking at the nexus 4 vs lg phone with same specs and the lg phone seem faster. i know it wont matter in performance overall just want to know if its the new version of android slowing things down or maybe something lg did to its own to speed things up. i know temp regulator can slow the nexus down but the guy put it in freezer same results. i figure if it does slow down going from 4.1 to 4.2 on galaxy s2 than its something lg does to make there own faster

Wow. You're right. Sorry OP. You're Sentence structure leaves much to be desired. Probably why I misread that. Either ways the answer is still the same. I remember moving from my Epic 4g to my Nexus S and noticed a drop in benchmarks too, despite the hardware being exactly the same. AOSP just doesn't do as well in benchmarks. You don't need to worry though. This is none of those situations where the benchmarks don't matter. Real world useage wise, AOSP will ALWAYS be better then some bloat filled custom carrier firmware. My Nexus S was much faster despite the benches.

S4 Pro or Snapdragon 600?

So I'm currently very confused. I downloaded the app called CPU-Z to check out the internals of the G Pro and right up top it said that the chipset is the Snapdragon S4 Pro (keep in mind I'm using the AT&T model). I thought this must be an error of the app, seeing as I knew that the G Pro is supposed to have a Snapdragon 600 chip. I then went to both Antutu and Quadrant, and both stated that the phone has a Qualcomm QTC APQ8064 MTP processor, which I looked up and found is the S4 Pro from last year. I've always wondered why my G Pro tends to lag a bit and why benchmarks aren't as high as the One or the S4. Did I get fooled into thinking this device ran the Snapdragon 600?

Apparently no one knows. I've tried researching but couldn't find anything so I came to this forum. To me, it makes sense that the phone runs last year's S4 Pro like all the benchmarks say, due to the fact that the phone is quite laggy in daily use and scores very low compared to the Galaxy S4 and HTC One in benchmarks, both of which definitely have Snapdragon 600 processors.

24k Antutu low?
Maybe still cpu z bug, check comment at Playstore
Many people have no accurate CPU
Ex: One V = Snapdragon S1, it should be Snap S2
Nexus 4 S600, it should be S4 pro
And post your antutu after disable thermal throttling
Cpu z reports incorrect processor on many models. Att site specs clearly state it has the snapdragon 600 8064t. The clock is at 1.7 which matches the recommended clock for the sd 600. I would not be so quick to think LG would lie about the phones components.

No, it just indicates that throttling caps the frequency more aggressively than on HTC1 or SGS4 so to G Pro not to get as hot as them. The same was with Nexus4, it throttled sooner than, say, ASUS Padfone2 and got lower scores in all benchmarks

While I don't place all that much emphasis on benchmarks, I must admit that I was wondering why the gs4 seemed to perform so much higher than others... Doesn't take away from the fact that the phone CAN perform tasks those levels. Just that doing so on a regular basis would undoubtedly reduce battery life to some degree.
Waiting for someone to call this "benchmark-gate" or something along those lines. Or perhaps Apple will find some obscure reason to file a patent lawsuit over this..
