What is the highest stable speed that you can overclock the Verizon nexus to? Also, how do you do it?

varies from phone to phone.
you need a kernel that has the values for overclocking.

Well, the furthest I've ever seen a GNex do was 1844.2 MHz, on both cores.
But as far as I'm aware, the furthest you can go with, by downloading a kernel from here, is 1650 MHz, with imoseyon's kernel.

I tried overclocking my Gnex before - it worked fine but as you already asked: Why? I have not find any reason to stay overclocked. In my opinion everything already is very fluent.

Yes, I noticed that a few hours later, after posting ^^ But then again, he asked for stable, my GNex was literally melting and constantly crashing, after I flashed Glados... (Back cover got replaced...)

No one can tell you what the highest stable overclock for your phone will be. Sure, they can tell you what their individual hardware can achieve, but that does not extrapolate into what your phone can or cannot achieve. There's normal variance from phone to phone even if they're configured exactly the same.
Also, this is one of those things that, if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be doing. Not having a firm grasp on what your doing and the consequences thereof is a fast and easy way to end up with a paperweight.

I agree with najaboy, if you don't know how, don't. You'll probably break something.
Look up how to do it instead so you learn.

Why do I get stutter?

Just picked up my nexus today. One for the wifey too. When we both have live wallpapers, my phone stutters moving from page to page but hers doesn't. Also in Quardrant, on the part of the graphics test that has a moon orbiting a planet or whatever, my phone will only do like 5fps and stutter like crazy, whereas hers does about 50fps. She is on AR and I'm on AOKP with franco kernel but got the same results with AR with stock kernel first so its not just the rom or kernel I don't think. I also tried enabling/disabling the forced GPU rendering with no effect.Any ideas?

You don't need a warranty replacement. The live wallpapers aren't optimized for ICS and neither is quadrant.

Yes, same one. So is this a hardware issue? What exactly is having trouble? The GPU?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
I think it's hard to say for sure. It could be some rogue apps running in the background on your phone that is slowing it down. I think that would be a more likely explanation than a hardware problem.

It's not a hardware issue. I would go with what the person above me said.

How could I identify an app like that? I've already looked at processor times in spare parts and nothing seems out of the ordinary...

Also, I know you guys are saying it's not a hardware issue but I don't know what else it could be when my wife's phone is identical and doesn't have the same issue

i read the whole thread. you hint here, you're flashing rom and kernel. i suggest you reflash whatever you're using, but doing a thorough wipe. or trying another kernel. the phone just came out and even though everybody says this or that kernel is stable and badass, basically they're all experimetal/beta on the fly with the constant updates.

Overclocking question?

I have a sprint gnex and I never notice the benefits of overclocking it, its the same if on stock speeds or overclocked and the battery is also the same so what's the benefit?
Sent from my Sprint Galaxy Nexus CDMA using xda premium
You usually won't notice a performance increase until you play games
Plus there are performance bottlenecks besides CPU... any of those can come into play.
But as was said... memory and graphics heavy games are where you will notice differences.
Do any of you know what a scheduler is when you go to the CPU settings? I never know which one to pick

Alright let me tell u something.
Clock it down and tell me how slow it is.
So yes over clocking does make a difference. Especially on interactive.

The scheduler controls read/write requests to the flash memory (or HHD in PC)
What options you have available for scheduler depends on the ROM/kernel.
Most should have Noop, and it is a good choice, just stick with it.

[Q] Nexus 7 Beats out S III?

Now I know benchmarking isn't exactly "accurate" but I'd imagine it does give you a rough idea of how well your phone is performing, now my question is how can the Nexus 7 Tablet go from a score of about 3500, to over 7100 with just an OC'd kernel to 1.64GHz? Beating out the S III in 'Quadrant Standard' by a long shot. Again I know benchmarks don't mean much, but has anyone topped "7130" with a U.S. variant S III? Just curious and looking for some feedback,
I''ll post the link to the article,
Thanks guys.

Hmm I thought S3 would be much faster than the Nexus 7 but after looking at specs it does have a quad core processor "Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A9" but only 1gb of ram, we have 2gb. Seems weird that the I/O is A TON faster when oc'd. The other day I did a quadrant standard and got 2600 and tested 30 mins later and was at 4800 so it could just be numbers. Seems too big of a jump from 1.3 to 1.64ghz But yeah thanks for sharing!
Yup np, yeah I just found it odd... such a huge leap, and so much more than the 2GB ram S3, but it could just be the highest score out of 20 different tries.

Would it matter that the Nex 7 has JB? What about running said tests once the S3 has JB...just a thought

I watched a video with the Nexus 7 playing NOVA 3 and it was would lag and chunk out at certain parts. Thats never happened on my S3. I doubt overclocking a N7 would help much with that either. Hard to say though

I would imagine JB would make a significant difference on the overall results. Just wait till we get an official JB release

Should I Trade

Please don't flame me. Honest opinions from people who has used the Droid RAZR xt910 (gsm). Should I trade my Nexus for one? It is a white version with box and 16gb SD card. I'm using straight talk at&t so hopefully it'll work flawlessly. Any advice? I loved my Atrix 2 when I had it and I love my gnex. :/ But the RAZR is like a thin Atrix 2. Help!!!! Lol

Um I had it before and it is pretty good phone, but it is really slow compared to Gnex... also you get pretty lame updates compared to Gnex. Gnex just brings more to the table if you ask me

I'm not too worried about updates. It'll at least see jellybean. But the speed worries me. I've seen Antutu bench scores in the mid 6000s. Thats on stock ICS. I know numbers don't matter but the gnex is around the same in numbers. Does the droid just have more menue lag or something?

I personally doubt that it's gonna get a jelly bean update... also razr is just had more "android lag" even with ics update... I just don't think you will get a lot from the trade, that is all. Of course, choice is yours

Its got the exact same internals as the nexus. Think the motoblur will be the factor in no jellybean?

Motoblur is definitely going to be the factor. It's going to take Motorola ages to push out Jelly Bean for it and that's if they even decide to at all.
Well it took Samsung and Motorola similar times to push ICS to the gs2 and the RAZR. But Motorola gets worse rep than Samsung. :/ why's that?

[Q] [LTE] Best kernel and ov/uv settings for road trip

So next week I'm going on a road trip and don't want to have to worry about my battery life.... So what Is the best kernel to use on my Verizon Nexus?
And I'm not an android noob, but I am a complete noob to ov/uv(ing) the kernel..... what Is recommended?
I right now am using Xenon HD and Franco kernel nightly 361
Also my processor governor is set to interactive
I want to use Spotify and access my phone to play random games.
thanks so much in advance!

Maybe not the answer you're looking for but why don't you get a car charger and/or an extra battery.

Haha dude I dont see why wouldnt you look cool with your Gnex. When I was out the other day wih a friend and some chicks and friend with iPhone 5, guess what phone impressed the girls? All of them got 4 or 4S and when I put out my Gnex, they were so impressed by it, even only by design and size of screen. My sister said that she doesnt like iphone 5 because it looks like her tv remote.
You cant do anything much to get much battery life since our phone has much bigger screen. If you want to play games while on trip, get your batteries ready. For myself, one battery cycle is enough since I listen only to music so I can get 10 hours.
If you are running Franco (Which you said you were) open up the Franco app, go into Power Modes, load up the Presets and use the BeastlyBattery, also make sure you turn off Auto Sync and turn your screen brightness to the lowest setting that you can handle. All of those will get you better battery life than playing with voltages all day.
Uv wont help too.
