While I don't place all that much emphasis on benchmarks, I must admit that I was wondering why the gs4 seemed to perform so much higher than others... Doesn't take away from the fact that the phone CAN perform tasks those levels. Just that doing so on a regular basis would undoubtedly reduce battery life to some degree.
Waiting for someone to call this "benchmark-gate" or something along those lines. Or perhaps Apple will find some obscure reason to file a patent lawsuit over this..

Just the international variant. With the not so US 4G version aka snapdragon, it ramps the speeds to maximum

Hi,
I have a Samsung Vibrant and want to upgrade my phone to Galaxy S II, now do you guys recommend the T-Mobile version or the international version?
Please don't consider only the phone but also the future ROM development also.
Thanks in advance
specs wise I recommend the Tmobile one because of higher process speeds. and for development, I haven't really looked into the international version but the att skyrocket is the same phone as this so whoever gets a better ROM 1st , both sides win because they are compatible with eachother
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
I don't know too much about the international version but I believe you will get better data speeds with the Tmobile version depending on your area but the processor is better in the international version.
I recommend going with the international phone. If you are curious about development, check out the forums of each device and see what you like. The international version will also get official updates faster.

Definitely the international. Especially if development is important to you. Our development is beat.

I came from a Vibrant. Went GNexus then went to GS2 today.
I used the Gnexus for about a 9 days and already the GS2 seems way snappier (using the Juggernaut 4.1) Can't say about the battery life on it yet, but with the GNexus I was able to get full day with a single charge with wifi on all day.
Enterrpise email on push along with gmail and hotmail. sms/mms/listen to podcast for about 3.5 hours.
I'll have more details with the gs2 (T989) in the next couple of days.
Why would you get the international version when you would be stuck on edge speeds?
This phone is fast a you would need it to be but its true the development here is slow. I would recommended this phone to anyone in a heart beat.
I couldn't have a phone on Tmobile without wifi calling....thus the Tmobile version

Okay heres the dealio. Non bias or anything. Internation galaxy s 2= GS2 T-mobile galaxy s 2= 989
The 989 has a larger screen to play with. Not really a necessary thing to have but its nice. The processor on gs2 is alot better. Exynos processor. The only reason the 989 has a bigger number in processor is because its a qualcomm snapdragon. Which is sucks... lol. Exynos has better gpu and cpu control. The cameras the same. And yada. The data is better for tmobile since it is true 4G. (42 mbs) but i dont see using the data a whole lot unless you tether 24/7. But the lack of development in this community is just like the SGS4G. Honestly its cause this phone doesnt really need it. Once we get CM9 then you... Devs will work there asses off cause cm9 is the best and far more developed than stock. But its slow atm. The gs2 already has ics roms i presume and if not then they will really soon! So its all about your patience...

Why Do you say Exynos is better? Any proof? at least gs2 is higher in GHz.
The exynos has a smoother transitions and i compared it to a sprint gs2 with an exynos processor. The game asphalt is noticeably smoother on the exynos processor. And number doesnt matter at all. Windows phones are still 1.0 ghz and not evem dula core and can do perfect with animations and games. Honeslty dual core is nonsense... But exynos is an all around better processor. If you dont believe me then go to a sprint store and play around with their gs2

No lol. Not even close to a consideration here. It has Sense. And its not a Nexus... by the time this comes out the Nexus will be 5 months old and it still isn't a consideration for me.

Yes. Its gonna have Snapdragon S4 dual core (which should have good performance though) in order to have AT&T LTE.
Also, it only has 512mb RAM. Releasing in April... Really?
The phone hasn't been released. The quad core version might best the Nexus but still have sense.

HTC put themselves in trouble the way I see it.. they release a few new phones that are not very impressive.. yea it has ics and a few cool features and a quad core processor which every phone will soon have but not anything to die for... I would take a gsII over this and its a year old... and now with the GSIII coming out soon, this will be outdated in know time.. I'm slightly disappointed:/ so I will defiantly be holding on to my nexus for at least a year unless Samsung really impresses me!

Why does it matter that it has Sense? You and majority of the people on XDA have a custom rom loaded. Even though the Galaxy Nexus has pure Android, many use a custom rom.
If you were given a phone with 512mb ram and 1gb of ram, I bet you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
An April release is considered good for Android. That's a little over a month away. Android manufacturers are notorious for announcing a device well before the release date.

HTC sucks. After the hd2 there hasn't been one good device from them. Our device will not be outdated. Nexus s and Galaxy Nexus will be future proof. I'm only supporting Samsung they seem to be the only consistent company as far as devices.
How about releasing a quad core hd2 with a better display and ffc. That phone will never die. Endless support.

Actually I don't have a custom ROM. That's why I bought a Nexus lol. And that doesn't mean I can't hate on Sense (had an Evo 4G, and I'm scarred for life). I'm glad they're making it lighter than previous versions, but its still there...

Thing is, its being released already behind on this spec. Phones already have 1gb RAM. It will be VERY tired with 512mb a year from now when I'm expected to still be using it. Not future proof at all with 512mb, that's my point.

Generic "OMGZ! A NEW PHONE VS OUR Nexus" answer:
No, I'm not interested, otherwise I would take part in the discussion in the proper sub-forum.
Also I'm not interested if there is any extra UI on it that I cannot disable/uninstall.
The manufacturer doesn't release the original ROM for download so I can flash it back if necessary? Not interested.
Deserved 1-star rating for the thread: applied.

Yes you will notice, same as dual core vs single core. With 1GB of data more resources can be loaded for the launcher. I like not having my launcher not have to be reloaded all the time.

No I didn't because I left my phone on the reply screen via tapatalk as I typed my message. Also, no one can officially determine what might come to be within the next months.
So your point being is? We both hope the sprint version gets the 2 GB's of ram, and an exynos processor.
It won't be Exynos... as of now, those are incompatible with 4G networks. Unless some technology breakthrough occurs, then it's the S4. But the S4 isn't really even worse than the Exynos. Granted it is dual core, it still benchmarks really similar scores.
The 2GB RAM sounds like a likely possibility though. I'm sure they would include it if the Japanese get it with the same processor.
Wasn't Sony suppose to release a 12mp android soon?

I believe that is correct... in Europe/Asia. But I thought Samsung used a different chip for the US GS3.
Pretty sure the Note10.1 is the same though
EDIT: Nevermind! I somehow stumbled into the International GN2 forum... not sure how.
The US GS3 uses a Qualcomm dual core

You'd have to buy the International Galaxy SIII (i9300). It has the quad core Exynos, but only 1 GB of RAM rather than 2 and no LTE radio. It's not worth it just to get more cores (which aren't by any means an end-all-be-all indicator of performance anyway).
actually, the i9305 (i think that's the model number) is an international version with 2gb of ram and lte.
hey thanks for the information guys think i will be staying with the phone. Wish the people selling the phones would not lie to my face however but after doing some research i can see i still have a great phone and it appears to be better than the international.

no, it's the international version still. try looking in the international forums for people in the us who have gotten the phone, they'd have better advice for you, as i don't own the phone. but if that doesn't help, i'd try finding cell phone sites that sell it and ship to wherever you live.

This.
There's no reason to want more. The dual core + 2gb ram runs everything you phone can run anyway.
Dual core + 2gb RAM beats quad core + 1 GB. Trust me I have a quad core nexus 7 and I can over clock it to 1.7ghz and its still not as smooth as my gs3 at 1.5ghz. The snapdragon s4 is high end dual core, very power efficient and fast. Also can be over clocked to 2.1ghz with ktoonsez kernel.
