My name is Mier, and I am the cofounder of Infinite World Comics. I've been with this community for a long time, and I've seen the amazing things the developers are capable of. So I'm wondering, can anybody help develop an app for my company? My company is going to be distributing online comics, and we need an app for the customers to be able to view the comics easily. We will pay for the development of the app, but we are a start up company, so we can't pay like an insane amount. But we can pay you in gum. If you are seriously interested, please reply or send me a PM.

I know this question is really just a time waster but when you're a cube monkey like myself you have to do something to pass the time.
I've been using Android phones for a few years now going back to my G2 Magic. And have been around XDA since my old HTC Dash on Windows mobile.
The question I've been wondering about is how do developers work? I can understand the individual developer working out of his home or office but how do development teams work? Take a big team like Cyanogen for instance. Is there an office somewhere? Does everyone meet at someones house lol? Is it all done through a server, an irc site, is there any sort of payroll? Have any of these guys met face to face? I'm a design engineer for a medical company and we use a lot of video web meetings. Do they interact that way. Do these guys or gals have day jobs?
BTW if this is the wrong section you won't hurt my feelings by moving it. I'm just curious while waiting for 4:20 so I can escape my daily hell.
Its a mix of everything you said lol

I don't know if it exists already but i was wanting and looking for a app that lets you browse through ols newspaper articles ya know like have you seen one of those csi episodes where theyre investigating a case and then all of a sudden they are in the library trying to find a 1850 article under some scope. That would be cool to have on the phone, just someone go and scan all those papers and make a app, lol.
thank you

I imagine there would be too many licensing issues with the newspaper companies to make this a reality.
true but if it were a hombrew made for educational purpose and freedom of press to public act, then lets get something cooked up huh.. wink.. wink..

but at 99¢ i could see this app make easily a million dollars your right though theyll prob want some of that piggy bank. given them one penny per download, i don't think you'll have to pay any royalties to individuals in the articles seeing how they all ready been dead for decades, whats a newspaper worth nowadays anyway right but you are saying that you would have to get the permission still from lets says new york times to make it into a digital copy? that would suck because you know darn well that they arent doing anything with it anymore anyways except keeping all that good news in a library.

I like this idea
This sounds like something that maybe google's open book alliance may be interested in. Those old papers should be in the public domain. Depends on the copyright, I guess.
If it was made into an open source project I think it would take off
here is a site similar to the idea
chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/
and even this site could maybe use a touch of tapatalk style having the type of articles categories into years, types ex; murders, scams, business, ect... then at the end of all the parents have the article in a internel view or external view browser.

I have friends who jail broke their iphone and have the ability to download the song they are listening to on pandora from pandora. Is there anyway to do this on android/GN2?
Be a cool function. Lots of great songs that come on that would be fun to have
That would be cool in a sense but what would the point to having "Internet Radio" if your just going to download the songs anyways?
My opinion of course.

So if you here a song that you like or haven't heard for a long time sense Internet radio plays everything you can download it and listen to later
Very true I hear ya on that, thats why I agree with the feature being cool but not needed IMHO.
I just use "Piratebay Browser" and "aDowloader" apps to get what I need, just to help you out IF one day this feature is available.
Not really sure if this an appropiate thread though, hmm, since were kinda talking about piracy?
but I agree someone should make an app similar to the "YouTube Downloader" app.
Shhhhh. Lol.

Do you have any idea how much it costs to record and press cds? Artists don't make what you think from cds. They have to pay for studio time, sound engineers, producers, writers, production, etc before they make a profit. Stealing from an artist is stealing period! No matter how you rationalize it for yourself. I don't understand that way of thinking and why or how anyone thinks it's okay to steal the work of someone.

Haha this is a great reply. I do know. Mack Lemoore is proven to everyone you don't need record label and such to produce and get music out. Gorilla marketing. He is rocking it right now. But your right. I'm just trying to steal

Honestly, artists don 't make jack from selling albums. They make the majority of their money doing shows. A lot of EDM artists give their music away for free and once people get to hear it they're willing to shell out big bucks to see them live.

They make anywhere from 10 cents to a dollar depending on their contract per album sale. You've actually shown how much you don't know about the music industry. The group pays nothing out of pocket for recording unless they are just starting. How it works is the record company pays for the studio time and pressing. Then they keep all profits from the group until that recording time is paid off. Afterwards the group gets anywhere from 10 cents to a dollar or so from each album sold. So if a band of 4 people sells 1,000,000 albums in a year and get 10 cents from each album each group member gets $25,000.
Bands make their money from concerts, branding, and endorsements. They get screwed on record deals. You're stealing more from the record company than you are the artist but the artist gets hit harder. So...some food for thought.

Lol, are you people really serious? Worried about professional musicians and people "stealing" their tracks. While I'm not promoting stealing, I bought literally thousands of dollars of overpriced cds and cassettes for many years. It was always nice to drop $15 or so on a cd, that conveniently had only one or two good tracks. Funny how now you can but single tracks, and fairly cheap. I'm sorry, but that's life. I've been in business for years for myself, dealt with people stealing, employees stealing, busting my ass. Not one person gave two ****s about me. I'm far from rich. Struggling, unknown artists, yes, I feel for them. Someone that downloads a jay-z, 50 cent, or whatever for free, im not losing any sleep over it.
That being said, if you can't pay a measly $1 for a song you like, you have issues.

MIUI stock music app allows you to listen and download online music like Pandora.
Image 1: bottom right (online music)
Image 2: search an artist or song.
Image 3: click on album art for options... All the way to the right see small download icon.
Image 4: listen to that song whenever you want. Downloads as mp3.

Uhhhhh, how exactly are they promoting a competitor again? I checked out the openings, and the company Web page. The company is grounded and established dude.
So ur saying android and apple aren't competitors?? Again, just my 2¢

Oh that. The iPad thing. It's probably a 1st gen piece of crap anyways. Which is why they don't mind giving them away. They could be refurbished after cracking them open to get some Apple secrets. I mean a million explanations! We dunno.
I didn't really see that as promoting competition because the company is definitely benefiting more from getting the developer than care about an iPad.

this is a phishing scam. they really just want your personal info.
---------- Post added at 11:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:52 AM ----------
you have to create an account. they are banking that your contact email address will have the same password you use for your account on that site. they probably also try your name at various bank sites with the password you used.

So what? You have to create an account for alot of employers. Fred Meyer, McDonalds, a bunch of places. They use it to keep your user profile and sometimes to keep past applications. By the way, the way I know you don't know for sure is your use of the word "probably".
This is shady as shady gets. They're CLEARLY going above and beyond to sell you on why you should do this. They sound way to desperate. To each there own, but I wouldn't risk it...#SCAM.

okay sir. everybody else is wrong and you are right. this is totally legit. we should all give our personal info to some random site because every body knows that everything on the net is totally trustworthy.
not.
Check it. I'm not trying to prove anyone right or wrong. I just want people to cite what they say. Have some proof and all that. If it's a scam, then someone should report it to the browsers (IE, Mozilla, Google, etc.) so they can stop people from going to it. Let them check it out. Don't just burn on it to burn on it no matter how many "leading" points there are. The only way to know for sure is to go and do it. Someone use a fake email and name and see what happens to it once they "steal" it and whatnot. Feel me?
