So i finally got the computer to communicate with the phone and all the proper drivers installed. I loaded up my configuration file from my old phone for qpst. There was no signal at all, after messing around with some settings I finally got a signal and the 3G icon, however upon trying to make a call to cricket to activate the phone its giving me the message as if the phone is roaming like im out of state. I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to take a look at my qpst config file and see whats set wrong, I originally used the config file from this site for cricket and it worked great. now its not. please message me so i can email you the config file as i dont have access nor am i signed up to a hosting site.
heres the info on my phone:
Hardware version: 0004
Android version:2.3.5
Baseband version 2.15.00.01.15
Kernal version:2.6.35.10-g8b16b68 htc-kernal....
Build number:5.07.651.6 CL558861 release-keys (apparently the previous owner did an OTA but from what ive read since the update didn't change the hboot nothing should be affected by this)
Software number 5.07.651.6 710RD
PRI version: 42900
Also upon clicking on phone identity current username is the previous owners [email protected] and not what is displayed in qpst when i click on read from phone.
*EDIT* fixed this using ##3282# phone is still jacked up
The only other thing i can think of is that my new phone has yet to been activated but i wouldn't think this would matter, unless cricket gives me a new MIN number for my new phone.
I'm so confused
btw ive tried 7 different prls some hybrid but most of them not hybrid, ive tried nation wide roaming prls and non roaming prls. heres the list ive tried.
3510
45513
4697
1050
42900
45722
10900
at best i got welcome to verizon.
As I advised you on a previous thread. Join cricket users forum. They have dozens of cricket prls that will get you going. Once you get a welcome to cricket do an update *228 or *22804 it will give you the latest cricket prl in your area. Although you might find better signal download speeds with other prls.

no your MIN stays the same as long as your account and number are still the same. Have you already called cricket and given them the MEID number of the evo that you want to activate? also which rom are you using? its really hard to tell exactly where the problem is without seeing what settings you've used when you set it up in qpst.

I used the config file available for download off these forums, I googled qpst configuration file download n I think xda forums with the cricket config file was the first link, there's a few other cricket files available for download as well in that post as well. No I haven't called cricket yet to activate the phone but I don't see how activation would make the phone get out of roaming and go from Verizon to cricket towers, it never mattered before. I am using the stock Rom for now.
*edit* i switch to cyanogen mobile 4.0 rom as my phone got caught in a bootloop for some weird reason. fortunatly i rooted it and had smelkus's recovery loaded so everything should be fine now as far as the bootloop goes.
i'm going to try and activate the phone with cricket tomorrow and see if that solves the issue, i never had to activate before completing a flash in the past and dont understand how that would make the phone stop roaming on verizon towers but if this is the fix at lest someone else with the similar problem will have a fix, at the expense of me feeling incredibly stupid.
phone is now activated on crickets network and still roaming on verizon :-/
something i did notice is on the CDMA 2 tab which the tutorials dont mention is the spot where the MIN would go, (IMSI_S) there is a number there which im guessing was something from the previous owner of the phone, i tried putting my MIN there and in the CDMA tap I put my MIN in the same spot, but it seems to revert back to this other number. I also tried replacing it with all zeros. that didn't help either.
Im pretty sure i just need a correct prl. I have search throughout google and multiple forums for an phoenix arizona specific prl and any links to them are broken. I can now get the phone on the cricket network with zero bars, (using a nationwide standard prl) once in a while itll jump up to 2 bars but disappear before i can dial *228. If anyone has a phx az prl id like to give it a shot.

I have an Evo on Boost now for 2 months rooted with no problems at all. I change roms all the time, update kernels, put themes and never any problems. Yesterday there was a post to update the pri to version 1.40.
I did it and it said something about resetting the phone. It shut down and ever since then I have no 3g at all. The only way I can surf the net or go to the market place is through my wireless internet in my home. I can send/receive texts/mms/phone calls but no internet.
Also, it constantly come up with an error 67 data call failed.
Thanks guys in advance
You could try updating profile under settings and system update.. let me know if this worked.. my 3g wasnt working went to sprint and did the update and is back on..

this will reset ALL data profile information on your phone. it will then reboot and reload all said information by re-provisioning your phone.
if you do not know your msl, call sprint tech support and ask nicely for it. they will usually give it to you. if not, hang up and call back. or just tell them you have no data and want to re-provision your phone and they will walk you through what i just did.
as a side note, sometimes this error pops up, for no good reason and goes away after a while. my guess is in your situation this isn't the case. you had a hiccup that's easily fixed.

Thank you for trying to help I really do appreciate it, but I don't have a sprint account I am on Boost Mobile and have been for 2 months now without any issues but this one
Could be a PRL problem? I don't know anything about getting an EVO on Boost, but I assume part of the process was downloading a PRL for Boost to connect to their towers?
Go back to the guide you followed and redo the steps.

What exactly will work on my phone?? and what should I do in CDMA Workshop? I have the program and I do know my MSL, so if you can explain what I should do to get back my data connection that would be great!
I tried to update the PRI and wiped my data profile for boost mobile and now without wifi on, I get error 67 data call failed
By the way, Thank you for trying to help, you guys are the best
No offense, but it really should not be that difficult if you set this up before!! I assume that you in fact did not set your EVO up on Boost, but gave it to someone else to set up, correct?
Simply refer to the original guide, or steps you took yourself to set the phone up on Boost in the first place - or give it back to the person that did it and let them fix it.

Hey Nukedukem,
No offense taken, however you might want to check your panties to see if you're getting your period. I thought this was a forum for people to help other people "do it themselves". If I, and everyone else did what you suggested, you'd be outside sitting on the curb with nothing to do. So if you have nothing nice to suggest, then I suggest you pass over my post and go "not help" someone else. Thanks
To everyone else: yes the guy that first did my phone is no longer to be found so if you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them. Also, if a programmer can help I'm more than willing to donate.
Thanks again guys
The error 67 I think may be caused by the network rejecting your phones credentials, I had this same problem last night. The only way I could fix it was to restore a nandroid backup and then have it update my profile and PRL. You may be able to get away with just restoring the backup though, trying to update anything is most likely not a good idea since you are using a network other then what the software was written for.

Sorry you took offense, but you are in WAY over your head. If you want help from a developer, you need to SEARCH FIRST.

Since I'm such a nice guy, I searched for you...30 seconds later I learned how to port my EVO to Boost Mobile.

Oh, and uh...try not to choke on my menorrhagia.
That method did work MONTHS ago but not now that SPRINT changed up their website your not allowed to do esn swaps anymore. I was able to do it months ago with my touch pro2 and i have an EVO now and just tried to reprogram my phone cause i had the msl code and input my boost number and msid like i did before with the touch pro2. It reseted but when i went to make a call it said account cannot be validated so had to get sprint service again. Soon as someone comes out with a VALID way of getting the EVO working on boost Im going back to them.

it's because you have a sprint 1.4 pri and need a modified boost pri...until that is changed, no 3g for you, but seriously, there is an app that gives you your MSL code
Hello everyone, I did a little searching and yet to find a problem or resolution similar to mines. I am not new to flashing. Everything normally ran smooth on previous phones that I did. My final product after the flash is the issue.
Flashed phone is an Evo 4g. One prior owner, a close friend who bought it new from the Sprint store. Not going into the technical details( assuming everyone knows the process). But my donor phone this time was the incognito.
Problems: I have no idea what could of happened. When I call out the number shows as private on any phone that I call. I try calling the phone, it goes to voice mail. I call out pressing *82 to see if my number appears but I always get a "Welcome to Verizon wireless, your mobile number is not active or invalid" . When I press 611 it goes to the Sprint Carrier. Sms don't work but internet does. Any guidance would be appreciated. Anyway in which I can restart from the beginning without rerooting? Or a way to bring the original esn back, I could take it from there also.
-Thanks

What rom are you using? Have you tried to update your profile and prl?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Yeah, sounds like you have a Verizon prl or you are roaming, try updating it.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Or, a Sprint PRL with enabled roaming.
Don't have the phone with me but a basic recovery rom (forgot the name) while rooting, updated to mikg sense rom, downgraded radios, flashed then received those issues, did a recovery from nand back up, issues still there. I'm not home yet, but i'll try to update the prl. I also thought it was one if those you guys stated. The other forum thinks that I screwed a middle step up and gave me some software( haven't tried it yet). But i'll update later.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I believe that you are correct it's running off of roaming. Don't know why I get verizon error though.. But sadly I found where I went wrong. I fcked a middle step up. Only 9/10 of the data successfully transfered to the device for some reason. My rls log shows that my esn(hex) is zero'd out. That means that the other ways involving esn to restore are now deemed useless, unless there is a way involving org. Hex or dex. I would try rewriting locations using old esn &meid locations but didn't write the esn down . Any guidance from here?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
once you write the MEID, I have always had it write the ESN for me, I have never had to restore the ESN personally. But there is a website out there that will figure out your ESN based off of your MEID. google it cause I do not remember the name of it off of the top of my head.
Yes, I was working with different software than I usually use. But yes I found a meid converter early. I now know my esn and will try to do it manually the way I stated above.

Problem resolved, everything is now running smooth, thanks again to the few who actually responded to my post.

Hello, As the titlle says.. I'm flashed onto Boost Mobile with everything functional.. (Except GPS, but that's a whole 'nother concern)..
After reading around and searching to no avail, if I need to update my Profile, I get an error.. Something along the lines of ""Error: Cannot Update! Client Authentication Error".
Does anyone know if it's my Boost Mobile affecting this.. Also, anyway to fix it?
Is there a way to manually flash a profile on there?

Your Profile is looking for Sprints server so of course it wont work. If I am not mistaken its a Sprint profile you are updating so if you are on Boost why would you want to do that?
your on boost thats why its giving you that issue... look on the development page for "how to manually update your PRL".. don't remember the name of the op for it on epic touch but i remember it was created by Leviusque on the epic 4g. follow the steps on there and you will be able to update your prl.

May i ask how flash your device to boost mobile? a friend was asking me for my epic and how to flash it to metro
youngace look in the development page as well theres a thread call "flash epic touch 4g to boost mobile step by step"

I am having the same Error: Cannot Update! Client Authentication Error problem on my e4gt as the original poster. I know it is possible to have a sprint phone on boost and be able to use the update profile. I original put a sprint mogul on boost and could update profile, then I switched over to a Samsung sph I-350 simply by calling boost. They had no problem activating it, Update profile, prl worked fine. Then I went to a evo 4g, real pain in the ass phone to get on boost. I had to find the esn in multiple places then zero and change. That phone can update profile, prl too. I used the sph-I350 as the donor. Now I have a Epic 4g touch on boost. Piece of cake to switch over and get everything working, prob the easiest esn change then the rest is simply nv items and copying stuff from qpst and qxdm.
BUT I am still having a problem with updating profile and prl... I updated the prl manually with qpst to make it work on boost right but I want to have the ability to update the profile and prl OTA.
Also I have the weirdest thing happening with 3g speeds when I am home I get great speeds on evdo.A anywhere from 1-2mb down and 300-500kbps up. But when ever I go anywhere else in houston, the speeds take a dramatic change for the worse. I hit around 30-150kbps down and 10-60kbps up. Its really wierd. I have tried every 3g speed fix possible. From zeroing servers, to evdo mode only and loosing the ability to send texts, everything. I think that fixing my ability to update ota will fix this issue.
FYI My evo 4g gets super fast 3g speeds all over houston and it has the ability to update ota.
Where as my e4gt cant ota and only gets good speeds in one location.
Does anyone of the senior devs have any clue on how to fix the ota issue, or 3g issue?
it depends a lot on the rom, Ive always been on boost, and on GB i could update profile and prl but on ICS i cannot..

Im on the stock sprint GB rom with el29. But unable to update it just makes no sense. Last night I tried to put the donor NV items back on the e4gt and it took, But still same problem no ota update ability.... Something weird about the e4gt I can write the nv 1192 and nv 466 but I cant read them from the e4gt its says access denied.
If i root will It unlock the nv items 1192 and 466? I want to read them to makes sure it took the info from the donor phone.
Google my blog for how to do it properly

chris nvm my last post i found it. I have a question??
If i go into qpst and delete my profile 1 do you think it will be able to ota update? because as of now I filled in profile 1 and 0 with all the correct info. I know my sprint and boost ha and AAA I got them from the donor. I filled all that in as hex in qpst. I am going to try and delete profile one and set everything up the way your guide wants then hopefully it gives me a hands free activation prompt
Not a something i will talk about on here.. But feel free to email me or comment on there, or pm

okay cool got it, well either way i tried then end part of your guide thing as that was what i needed. But to no avail I had a different error and it said connection error. So i was forced to put all my settings back to what I had to get 3g back.
I dunno its just really weird being unable to ota update. Its funny though after all that tinkering I just ran a speed test and hit almost 2.5mbps down its crazy. But i know once i travel away from this tower ill be stuck with crap speeds again...
oh and now it is saying unknown error after changing setting and setting it back to what i had originally..frekin weird
I picked up a used Evo 4G recently only to find the previous owner had it flashed to MetroPCS.
As far as I can tell I've got it all back on the Sprint network but still having some problems, example, it'll only call out or receive voicemail when roaming. I want to take it to the Sprint store but the banner says "MetroPCS".
I need to know exactly what the default Sprint banner says so I can fix it up before taking it in.
The device is showing my @sprintpcs email address, downloaded the latest PRL (60687).
I didn't know what the MSL was and didn't use cdma-workshop because on two different systems with two different antivirus software it came up as Malware. I set it to 000000 using a guide I found but could do with knowing what it should be. (Is the MSL unique to me as a customer, if so would I be able to find it from my Moment phone maybe?)
Anyway, the main thing is the banner. If I can set this then it'll be half the battle.
TIA.
P.S. Why wouldn't this be reset after a factor reset? Is there a code that will literally wipe everything or am I missing something that I need?
I think it didn't reset because its a radio thing, not software. Not the smartest on carrier flashing things though.

Post 1 and use the 3rd download link for the PRI, baseband and WIMAX.
Flash it and see if that fixes the issue.
Thanks for the link. I have to leave in 10 minutes so I'm not going to have time. I have tried to get into recovery before (hold down volume while powering on) but it doesn't seem to work for me so I need to look around and see what I'm missing. If Sprint can't help then I'll give this a go.
They did tell me they had a service outage in this area so I'll try on my way home.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Make sure fastboot is off in settings, and once that is off, pull out battery and put back in then try again. Or get quickboot or something from the play store.

Thanks for the posts. Sprint was saying that they couldn't get it to receive a signal so they'll just replace it for me. That $8 a month that I've been paying forever finally pays off!
Before I describe my issue, I'd like to state that I have searched high and low for answer to no avail. I am using a Sprint Galaxy Note II that has been upgraded to 4.3 stock. It was unrooted when my issue began, but I went ahead and rooted it to try and help my problem.
Two days ago I signed up for Straight Talk Bring your own phone. I entered the provided code which took me to the hands free activation. The activation proceeded successfully (my phone said success) until it forced a prl update. It says it fails (each time it tries the prl update) and immediately reboots the phone. Once booted the activation attempts again and repeats over and over unless I cancel before it gets to the prl update. Strangely enough if I try to make a call it says my phone has not yet been activated, and yet a few times after waiting I can make calls (verified they are coming from my new number), but no data functions. If I then try and complete the activation (the incomplete notification remains), I'm back to square one.
Straight Talk techs have assured me that my phone is active throughout their system and the sprint towers are having no issues. They say other Note II's have been successful. My phone is communicating with the towers as I get the LTE icon during activation.
As an experiment I activated a Samsung Galaxy 3 (never rooted) using the same method and it went through fine. It updated the prl and is now working like a champ. I am now at wits end with my Note. I have faith that all would function if I could get the prl to update and I haven't a clue how to get there from here. I have also been unsuccessful obtaining my MSL even after rooting. A little history on the phone is that it was active with Sprint and it was rooted at 4.1. I returned it to stock to take the 4.3 update.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

If it's active in their system and if their systems are compatible with your phone then you should be able to update the profile and PRL with no issues. Make sure you're connected to WiFi. There isn't much else you can do short of cloning another phones information onto it but then you won't get LTE. Are you sure it's active on their system and not still attached to Sprint?

It is active in their system and unfortunately I don't have another phone to clone. My prl says 2010. It will not update over wifi or LTE. I've tried factory resets (before I rooted). I'm sure it's something with my phone. I just can't pinpoint it. The only progress I have made is that I did manage to extract my MSL. The reps at straight talk said my phone would use sprint towers to activate. Also I'm wondering it my note would use the same prl at the S3 I activated. Thanks so much for trying to help.
You can do *22804 and it should update the prl

Although I may be completely wrong here, I can only go off of experience saying I haven't had a problem updating the profile and PRL or getting service from a "flashed to" carrier, by replacing the original carriers settings. I've tried NUMEROUS Sprint and Boost Mobile PRLs on my phones (I've had a EVO 4G, S2, Nexus, EVO LTE, and Note 2 on Boost...yeah I change phones a lot) and never had an issue getting Boost Mobile service since they use Sprint's towers.
First off, is the Note 2 still active on Sprint? CALL Sprint and verify this. I know if I try to activate a Verizon iPhone 4 on Page Plus that it'll default to Verizon OTA programming and pull that data when I WANT it to pull PP's OTA data via *228 (or *22890). Same thing may be applied here (except with update profile instead of *228). Secondly, is the phone's MEID the same as what you registered on the account? Although I think the L900 is set to show the OEM MEID in settings, I've seen some US Cellular (and maybe Verizon) phones that have shown the OEM MEID in settings but when hooked up in diag mode through the computer showed the real MEID which was completely different. Just something else to consider to make sure you cover everything!

I tried and it said the number or code is invalid. I will try again when I have a stronger signal. Uploading screenshot of phone connection specs. They look abnormal, but I am not an expert. I am running sprint stock 4.3 rom that was updated with kies. It is rooted but only after issue started happening. The phone number shown is not a number that I have ever had with Spring of Straight Talk

MMM I think I know what's going on here. You need to change your MDN and MIN to something other than 000000xxxx. I think that's forcing a HFA loop every time you boot the phone. Are you familiar with CDMA workshop or DFS CDMA tool? You'll need one of these to possibly fix your problem. Essentially, i think your phone needs to update the profile. This wouldn't be a big issue but I think HFA is strictly sprint and update profile won't work until you get rid of the HFA nag without disabling SprintDM. Check out the two programs I mentioned.

This might just work. I have CDMA workshop demo version but am unsure how to conduct the procedure. I really need to get it fixed because now hubby is in the hospital and has the s3. This is my only means of communicating with him when I'm not there. Wish I had the funds to just buy a note 2 that is unlocked but that is not an option right now.

If you're on a CDMA network, meaning your carrier didn't give you a SIM card, then having an unlocked phone does nothing for you. Straight talk might be CDMA and GSM though, never looked too much into it. Anyway, you're going to need to dial ##DIAG# in your dialer to bring up the "port" menu. Leave it on PDA and select Qualcomm USB settings or something along those lines. You should be at MTP. Switch it to DM+Modem+ADB. Plug your device into your computer. In device manager you should be able to see which port your computer assigned to it. If you have to, change the port number to be COM25 or under. Go into CDMA WS, connect to the port, send the password: 2012112120131219 and your SPC. Go to NAM1 and read. You should see your MDN and MIN are kind of zeroed out. Replace them with something other than zeros, like MDN: 7737777777 MIN: 3122222222. Reboot your phone. HFA nag should've gone away (if you're on 4.3). Now you should be able to update your profile WITHOUT having to go through Sprint's HFA, and after it grabs everything it needs, you should be on Straight Talk.

Tried the above but got lost on MIN. (is this the same as MSID?). Didn't find MIN anywhere. This is what I did try and it may have worked..so far, so good. I changed my number via the Straight Talk automated. I then tried the HFA which failed again, so I went in and maually programmed my username, MDN and MSID. I then tried mms and making calls and it worked. I then used root explorer to get rid of HFA by deleting the Sprint update apk. The prl 2010 remained and Sprint Zone says it is current. My only issue is that internet does not work though mms does. That is an issue I am now going to try and tackle. For the record, internet also does not work on the S3 that completed the HFA and prl update successfully. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix that I am open for suggestions. Thanks for your help on this. Please see screenshots..
Yes MIN is the same as MSID. You needed to program the numbers through a CDMA flashing program to get rid of the HFA nag. Now that you've programmed them through the phone...I'm not too sure how you're going to deal with the HFA. Yes, you disabled it, but you also disabled the ability to update the profile which is what you need to do for your data to work...
Success!
Success!! Here's what I did...Found an old Sprint prl file and copied it to sd card. Flashed Digiblur Rom which includes ability to write a prl file in settings. Used root explorer to go in and rename Sprint Update apk so that it would temporarily deactivate. Updated prl to the one on sd card through Digirom. Went back in and "reactivated" Sprint update apk. This activated the HFA immediately and promptly updated the profile and prl to the correct one for sprint (since straight talk BYOP uses those) and voila.. voice, mms and internet are now working perfectly. The issue seemed to be that HFA was changing MSL to 0000006503. Simply correcting it was not enough. I had to roll back the prl to make it update correctly. It updated it back to the 2010 that it was before and updated the profile as well. I like Digiblur Rom but decided to go with Paranoid Android rom instead. I'm loving it. May try a 4.4 next. I'm running Kit Kat on my Nexus Tab and I like it. Until this fiasco, I hadn't rooted my Note 2. Forgot how much fun roms can be. Used to play with them all the time on my HTC Evo. See screenshot of my success; unfortunately showing 3g in screenshot. LTE is spotty in my area so at times I'm reduced to 3g inside my home but I'm on wifi at home anyway.

Im happy this worked for you. I believe you have to have an older Android OS to make the trick work. My question is, how can we make this work with a 4.4.2 OS? Much thanks in advance.

My community rom (4.4.2 tw) has the ability to write prl via ##data# then view knot edit).
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Samsung Galaxy S3 (L710)
On both of my L710 (S3), the write PRL option was not showing. So ##data# didnt work for me. I had to install this app:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/32jc7i0w2fa2oxw/PRLWUnhide_S3_MA6.zip/
This made it so I was able to see that function.
Here are a bunch of PRL files. I believe the latest is 25018. If its not listed there, just do a search for the zip file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35576100
I was able to update the Profile and PRL after writing the TEST.prl file.
However, that didnt seem to solve my problem.
No 3g/4g, with HFA loop, with FreedomPOP as my provider (SPRINT MVNO).
I get a "unable to establish a data connection" error MIP:67 on one of the phones when trying to activate.
On the other phone, I get the notice to call customer care (SPRINT).
I believe this to be an ICCID issue, but I cannot confirm this:
https://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/143514
Pull up your dialer, punch in ##72786#. Let the phone go through its little process, then try to update prl and profile.
I am currently using a sprint note 2 on straight talk, had the same issue, and that's what I did to fix it.
