OTG cable question - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hey guys, just received the OTG cable I bought for me nexus but it doesn't seem to recognise it, I'm rooted Nd has stick mount pro installed but the tablet isn't responding when I connect it to my n7. My s4 i9500 is also rooted with stick mount pro but it works great, the phone recognises it no problem, so is the pin connector different on the n7 and s4 or is it hardware issues on my n7?

Have you tried rebooting into recovery and mounting the usb-otg in there?

Just did that, it can recognise the usb-otg now but it can't read the flash drives I put it? And on my s4 there's no problem.

Did you go to Advanced > File Manager > External SD?

Yeah, it's empty, also in solid Explorer, the path to the usb-otg has lines over it and it said there's no directory when I click on it

Try reformatting your USB drive to the ones mentioned on the StickMount page.

Okay, so I used OTG troubleshooter and turns out I have bug that affects some 4.3 tablets, tried the workarounds but doesn't work so I guess i) just wait for the new patch that fixes the multi touch bug and hopefully this bug.

Sd card damaged, may need to reformat it.

I have reformatted my card several times from the storage setting. Nothing work just stays "damaged"

Do you have an adapter? Can you plug it in to a computer to test?
Well I'm not next to a computer at the moment. I formatted it through the settings in the phone and it doesn't seem to "fix" damage

Are you sure it's connected to your phone? Try using it on another device that uses an SD card.

This is another good option. Personally, I would plug into a computer and run a diagnostic check on the SD card. I would hate to lose pics and data due to using a faulty sd card.
This happened to me many times. I dont really kow what could've caused it. All i know is that i've never had any problems with any of my SD cards, until i got the S3. So weird.
Well it's connected to the pc via usb and there is no option through the pc to format the drive

I'm also getting all sorts of force closes and freezes when it is mounted to my phone...

That's because of the way the GS3 handles the external SD card. I don't remember the details but it is not mounted as USB mass storage.
Going back Metal Slug's post, if you have another device that can mount is as USB mass storage, or an micro sd -> sd adapter would be the only other option.
What size is the card?

Backing up Photos/Videos on Ubuntu

Hey guys, I know im not the only Ubuntu user out there, currently im running Ubuntu 12.10 Alpha 2 and most of us know that MTP is completely broken on Ubuntu, and im currently being forced to restart into windows 7 to copy my files over MTP. I know there is Airdroid, Solid File Manager FTP which I have used, but it takes forever when I transfer 10 gigs a video and pictures each month, is there a better way to backup all my files while in Ubuntu? I'm thinking I can use ADB pull, but is there any other solutions out there? I'd rather not transfer files over wifi since its slower than a USB connection.
Can you use the cloud?

Windows 8 Not Recognizing My Note 2?

I have installed the proper Samsung Drivers and my PC running Windows 8 isn't recognizing my note 2. I Can't access my internal memory or the external SD. Anyone have any ideas? I tried searching through all the threads on XDA and I couldn't find anything.
I didn't have this problem with Windows 8 it did take a while for it to recognize it the first time... try a different port and wait a while
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Mine did it one time .... uninstall the drivers and reinstall then it will work .... I used the note 2 root tool in development to install them
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Xparent Blue Tapatalk 2
Same issue, no amount of driver installing/reinstalling seems to fix it. My phone won't even recognize a pc.
I had this same problem using a usb cable that wasn't the original that came with my note 2. Once I switched to the original cable it worked.

You can try a different port that's what worked for me. Or uninstall the usb driver and let it install again manually.
Or you can try this to see your ext. SD

Had this same annoying issue with my GS3 and Windows 8. I'm now back to Windows 7.

Try formatting it to FAT and using this program https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.stickmount&hl=en
I know that app is for the Nexus series, but I've used it with good results before so it's worth a shot.
EDIT: I meant FAT32

usb mass storage on the note 3

has someone found a way
Uhh what do you mean? Lol. Have to be a little more specific so we understand your issue you're facing. Because all you do Is hook up the usb to your PC. And whala. You might need to install drivers if yours is not properly working.

IF you have not as of yet, download the New Kies (that is only for the note 3) it has the proper USB 3.0 drivers. Also make sure you are using the 3.0 port on your lappy. If you are on an old lappy, it's blue and usually says USB/ESATA on newer lappies they are black so check your OEM guide for which one. USB 3.0+ Boost will have a lighting bold over the USB symbol
Go into developer option and unchecked usb debugging. Then reboot and plug phone in done

I think the person who ask; he wants the USB Mass Storage support which can use in Car, or devices that support UMS.
I have a 2009 Honda, and it had support iPod, and USB Mass Storage, but Note 3 is NOT compatible with my car.

The option that comes up is usb 3 media option.
UMS for galaxy note 3 does not exist unless some kernel dev is going to enable it.
Please someone implement this ums feature in a kernel !

is there really no way to connect the Note 3 to a Mac as external drive?
hi,
just to be sure: I enabled "USB debugging" and rebooted, but still can`t access the phones memory from my Mac...
Using Airdroid and "Android file transfer" in the meantime, but it is awkward...
Any help? Is there an alternative to connect to a Mac?
Thank you in advance!

I would love to see this too. I used that app on both S2's I had so I could play music through the USB port on my car stereo. It won't work with MTP
Using usb 3 mode, copying to the internal sd is super fast.
