I have reformatted my card several times from the storage setting. Nothing work just stays "damaged"
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Do you have an adapter? Can you plug it in to a computer to test?
Well I'm not next to a computer at the moment. I formatted it through the settings in the phone and it doesn't seem to "fix" damage

Are you sure it's connected to your phone? Try using it on another device that uses an SD card.

This is another good option. Personally, I would plug into a computer and run a diagnostic check on the SD card. I would hate to lose pics and data due to using a faulty sd card.
This happened to me many times. I dont really kow what could've caused it. All i know is that i've never had any problems with any of my SD cards, until i got the S3. So weird.
Well it's connected to the pc via usb and there is no option through the pc to format the drive

I'm also getting all sorts of force closes and freezes when it is mounted to my phone...

That's because of the way the GS3 handles the external SD card. I don't remember the details but it is not mounted as USB mass storage.
Going back Metal Slug's post, if you have another device that can mount is as USB mass storage, or an micro sd -> sd adapter would be the only other option.
What size is the card?

Have you tried to plug the phone in to your PC with the card mounted in the phone to see if it will mount as storage? You can also If you have an adapter microSD to SDcard and a sdcard slot on a PC or know someone who does try and read it from a PC. Have you tried to put it back in the skyrocket and see if you still get the error? GL

If you manage to copy all the files to your PC, try looking at this video. I had a similar issue when I switched from a Razr Maxx running a custom rom to a GS3. Might work for you...

Hey guys! I keep getting a message up top that says " you can safely remove sd card" and I can't get to my pics or music. Does anyone know what that is and how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

Try inserting your sd card into your PC to see if it can read it. You may need to reformat using FAT32.
It could also be a sign your sd card is on the fritz. There are a TON of threads that discuss SD card issues with the SGS3. (As a matter of fact, I had a Sandisk 32gb go belly up on me last month.)

I had a similar problem. I think you need to use Kies to transfer files from the PC to the Phone. If you want to transfer directly to the card, you need to remove it and put it in an SD Reader.
sounds like a bad sdcard, reformat the card if it is readable on the PC, if not then it's time for a new one. SdCards go by pretty quick these days it seems.
If it is just bad, and I reformat it, will it wipe everything on it?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Yes, a reformat will wipe everything.

Especially on this phone.
I've been lucky, I'll be next probably.
What brands are you guys buying? I have two 16gb AmazonBasics Class 10s in 2 S3s, no issues yet. I've come to really like AmazonBasics stuff. I buy the HDMI cables all the time. Always the newest specs, almost always the cheapest.
Ok, something strange happened.. just for grins I went to drop box and exported some pics to my sd card and it shows in the gallery as sd card with those pics in the folder. However, when ya try to mount sd card, it still said safe to remove.

Spend the $15 to get a new card already. My 2c. Even if the card isn't the issue, it's a not a huge loss. Will need it eventually.

That's what happened to me with my Sandisk 32gb Class 4 card - I was able to get it to read/write/format on my PC but it wouldn't co-operate with my phone. After a few tries with the phone, I tried again with my PC but to no avail - it ended up going belly up. Ended up exchanging it for a new one.
However, I bought a Topram 16GB Class 6 card (recommended by another XDA member) and I'm trying that one out now to see how long that one lasts.
First things first, note 2 is awesome. Now to the main issue. I have been trying to use my usb to transfer files both via mtp and mass storage mode (the app used for s3 and several others) but I keep hitting one problem. The phone unmounts my external sd (in the case of mass storage) or disconnects totally from.my pc when.I'm using it in mtp mode. The issue is regardless of the usb connection I use the phone disconnects after roughly.five minutes. Btw I'm doin all this with usb debugging on...besides that, it was d same with both stock and.custom firmware (revolution hd and.note2core asylum.kernel). Any help will be much appreciated.

Try to format you ext sd card to Fat32 using card reader.
If that not solve your problem just use card reader to transfer files to ur ext sd card.
No. 32gb samsung.

Hello,
I have a PNY brand new32gb sd card and I've had it for awhile and just today, my n2 decided that it can't detect a sd card. I've never taken it out so it's not handled at all. I even put it in my laptop and it recognizes and reads it just fine! Is there any solution like trying to reformat it or something? TIA

You know. I didn't do anything special. I took it out and placed it in my laptop so I could back it up and reformat. I also put my old 4gb sd card in the phone to see if it was a phone issue but it immediately recognized the card.
About 30 minutes later after copying my sd cards contents over to my laptop, I decided to try the card in my phone one last time before reformatting it. It worked! No need to do anything.

Some stuff such as nandroid backups don't show up in that list. Any chance that's taking up a lot of your space?
Try formatting your SD card in Windows if you have a USB adapter or micro to full size adapter and a port on your computer for a full SD. 32GB should be FAT32.

I have a USB adapter that connects to my phone. What do I do after connecting my phone to the computer? Cause every time I connect it. It doesn't bring up my external SD card.. And how do I set it to fat32?
Edit: also how can I delete the backups I have made? Been a while since I've messed with a rooted phone.

When I said USB adapter, I was talking about a microSD to USB adapter. In case the phone is the bad link in the chain, it'd be a good idea to remove the card from the phone and attempt to manipulate it externally. If that is not an option for you, I'll let someone else with ideas chime in on that topic.
For Nandroids: Try something like Nandroid Manager * ROOT

If you have a root explorer or adb you could try pushing it to system/app because your data partition appears full.
You could also try to Odin back to stock.
