I have installed the proper Samsung Drivers and my PC running Windows 8 isn't recognizing my note 2. I Can't access my internal memory or the external SD. Anyone have any ideas? I tried searching through all the threads on XDA and I couldn't find anything.
I didn't have this problem with Windows 8 it did take a while for it to recognize it the first time... try a different port and wait a while

Mine did it one time .... uninstall the drivers and reinstall then it will work .... I used the note 2 root tool in development to install them

Same issue, no amount of driver installing/reinstalling seems to fix it. My phone won't even recognize a pc.
I had this same problem using a usb cable that wasn't the original that came with my note 2. Once I switched to the original cable it worked.

You can try a different port that's what worked for me. Or uninstall the usb driver and let it install again manually.
Or you can try this to see your ext. SD

Had this same annoying issue with my GS3 and Windows 8. I'm now back to Windows 7.

So I've read multiple threads on phones not being able to connect to their computers and none of them can help me.
When i connect my phone with us to my computer it says mtp connected on the phone, but when i try and find the phone on the computer its nowhere to be found. It never used to say mtp connected it was just the usual connection. Once i installed kies on computer it started saying mtp. I just want to be able to connect my phone to send files and usb tether again. Any suggestions? I feel like I've tried everything.
It also doesn't help i don't have the internet. I always used my phones through pdanet.

How did you install kies without the internet? You could try uninstalling drivers deleting kies.. Then reinstalling kies and plugging in phone..
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Leave ur phone plugged in
its gonna take a while but ur comp is gonna install new drivers
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
It used to connect. So i used pdanet for internet and got kies. It connected to kies once. Next day went to use it again i got nothing. Just said mtp connected on the phone. Tried installing drivers and kies but didn't realize it needed the internet to install kies. I have the kies installer still.
Anyhow long would i have to leave it plugged in for? I had it in for over 15 minutes.

Unplug usb then go to settings>applications>development and check usb debugging, reconnect usb and mount from phone and it should show up.

Tried it already. Plenty of times. Thanks though

Also i just tried my nexus s andvthe computer won't even recognize that. Has to be something with the drivers Im guessing. But without the internet is there anything i can do?

Restart your pc and try again.

I had this problem also and it was because the drivers weren't installing correctly.

If you have any phone available that will connect then download drivers onto that phone then transfer to comp and install.. had to do that on a laptop before..

Thanks everyone. I just used a laptop from someone else. Much easier

When I connect my phone to the computer it does not get recognized. The phone charges but I can't use it in USB mode. I have a USB different than the original in the box. Help would be appreciated

Certain USB cables do not recognize my phone either... they only charge it. Try the one that came in the box.

Have you tried a different usb cable?
Use wifi explorer. Restart phone and CPU. Happens to me when I am screwing with multiple phones.

Install the Samsung Kies (not mini kies) will help. The driver came with Samsung Kies works better. I have one of my friend S2 and each time I plug his samsung S2, I need to run samsung Kies to get good driver and after a while I can use Window Explorer to read the 2 SD cards, and I don't need to run samsung Kies with mine. (bizzare but how it works)
My AT&T Samsung Galaxy SIII is suddenly no longer being recognized by my Windows 7 x64-bit PC. I don't recall doing anything to the phone or PC that would've caused this. It's been about a week or so since I last connected the phone to the PC, and I recall that for about a week or two before that, I was having trouble in that I'd connect the phone and nothing would happen, so I'd have to disconnect the USB cable and reconnect it, then the PC would recognize it and the Explorer window would open up on the PC showing the internal and external storage on the phone. I'm trying to transfer more of my music to the phone, and it's extremely frustrating to not be able to do that!
Any ideas what's wrong?
Dennis
Have you tried another cable? The one that comes with the phone is crap.

Definitely try a new cable. I had to get a replacement chord after 2 weeks of having my phone.
I have the same problem with my Mac after updating to UCLH1 ROM....
Have the correct drivers installed?

power off the phone, remove and re-install the battery. worked for me
If you backed up the Imei recently you may have used the qpst app to set the phone to connect to a port instead of MTP. Did you recently do this ? If so you need to set usb settings back to MTP.

I had the exact same issue not too long ago. I tried re-installing drivers...pulled out battery..different usb cable..factory wipe...and also tried three different PC, and still S3 wasn't recognize. I solved this issue by using CyanogenMod 10 ROM....not to mention this rom is so much better than the stock rom . I'm currently on the NEW CM10 Night 8/19 build, and so far no issues connecting phone to PC. By the way i'm on Rogers and you can get the rom here..http://get.cm/?device=d2att

Yeppers... with other problems I've had/read, I think the latest H1 leak has major problems... which may explain why it hasn't been officially released.
Once i moved over to the H1 build, that was when my pc (w7) stopped recognizing my phone, as well. i can get into it if i mount it as camera, it will let me explore the phone/sd card but i just use Kies to transfer....
I finally got my Note 2 (YAYYYY) and I love it but one question...does anyone have any success using android file transfer on Mac and it recognizing the Note 2? It keeps saying that it doesn't recognize my phone...I was having the same issues with my S3 when it received the Jellybean update. TIA

When ever Adroid itself swtiched from Universal Mass Storage to whatever it is now it hasnt been recognized by my Macs since then. Possibly on the Epic 4G Touch w/ICS, but not sure if it was that far back. I have a Win 7 VM on my Macbook, and a Win 8 VM on my MacMini that i just fire up when I need to mess with a droid, Or since the Samsung folks were so thoughtful not to cover the sd slot with the battery I just throw the MicroSD into a usb reader I keep on a keychain.
You can also use Kies to transfer files via your web browser. It should already be installed on your phone. Just fire it up and follow the directions. I found it worked pretty well to transer files in both directions.
I also found that with a micro usb adapter you can plugin any usb flash or external drive and it will auto mount on your phone. The only problem I've seen with this however is that the unmounter process doesn't seem to quit on it's own after pulling the drive. This then causes the cpu to be stuck at 1.6ghz and drains the battery pretty fast. So, I just reboot my phone afterwards.

Thanks everyone. I got it working. I had to install Kies then use the uninstall icon that came in the .dmg Kies file. Once I uninstalled Kies using this method AFT recognized my phone. All is well again lol

I wish Kies wireless didn't rely on the steaming pile on insecure code that is Javascript
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
Only way I was successful with Android file transfer was after un installing Kies. . Also make sure you are using the usb cable that came with your phone. I tried with my old usb cable and it wouldn't recognize.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Premium HD app
You can also use Airdroid or Wifi File Transfer to transfer files wirelessly.
Mine works fine just make sure phone is unlocked when connecting it is all I have to do. AFT pops right up and sees phone and card.

I have another question. How do I disable mobile data when I'm using wifi in my house? I know on my S3 the toggle icon was in the notifications slide down menu but how do I do it in the Note2? Thanks in advance

Screen is cracked not working but I do have clockwork recovery installed.
Question is what button sequence do I have to hit to get to mount the USB storage and access the files on my PC?
if I go into recovery I know I have to hit up 2x but from there I don't know where to go.
Help Plz!!!
If you have windows xp or above once you plig in your gs3 a window should pop up....there you can view all the files on your phone...or download Kies feom samsung and your phone should show up there..files and all.

I'll try kies but I have the phone swipe locked and I think that's stopping me from accessing the folders.
It says connection locked in Kies.. hmm what else can I try?
I'm not sure what else you can do

Have you looked into screen mirroring pc programs? I know there are at least 2 or 3 options. I'm not sure if they all require the phone to be unlocked. Another option would be to do hdmi mirroring to disable the lockscreen.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
The swipe unlock shouldn't affect you being able to access your files on tge phone via pc. Once you plugin your phone windows should start installing drivers and within a few minutes allow you to browse your phones internal memory...or ext sdcard. Good luck!
