Screen is cracked not working but I do have clockwork recovery installed.
Question is what button sequence do I have to hit to get to mount the USB storage and access the files on my PC?
if I go into recovery I know I have to hit up 2x but from there I don't know where to go.
Help Plz!!!
If you have windows xp or above once you plig in your gs3 a window should pop up....there you can view all the files on your phone...or download Kies feom samsung and your phone should show up there..files and all.

I'll try kies but I have the phone swipe locked and I think that's stopping me from accessing the folders.
It says connection locked in Kies.. hmm what else can I try?
I'm not sure what else you can do

Have you looked into screen mirroring pc programs? I know there are at least 2 or 3 options. I'm not sure if they all require the phone to be unlocked. Another option would be to do hdmi mirroring to disable the lockscreen.

The swipe unlock shouldn't affect you being able to access your files on tge phone via pc. Once you plugin your phone windows should start installing drivers and within a few minutes allow you to browse your phones internal memory...or ext sdcard. Good luck!

I don't see how this is confusing. Just plug your phone into your pc, open windows expolorer (my computer) should be your phone with two folders labeled card and phone.

hey i was wondering if anyone here has come across a app that will allow me to browse the files on my phone and drag and drop files from my computer on to my phone with out having to connect a usb to the computer, pretty much to sync wirelessly but to whatever specific folder i want on my phone . was playing around with Browsix which from what iv read should have that feature but i either havent been able to find out how it works or maybe it dosent have it at all.
Try the built in Samsung Kies Wireless app on your phone. It works quite well over the local wifi network.

Kies air. It's in your app drawer. I believe that's what you're looking for. Let's you navigate through everything on your phone wirelessly.

yea i just set it up and essentially thats what im looking for. but for example i have a folder with icons i wanna drop onto my phone. i have a folder for icons but i cant just drag that folder on to my phone through the kies browser and expect it to show up on my phone? when i click upload it only gives me the option to upload individual files not a whole folder. unless im not clicking the right option.
Try airdroid its a very nice app.

spot on man. i like how it gives you a desktop like window to play with. even lets you create folders on your phone and just import the files over. very very nice.
No problem bro, I love that app.

I just installed AirDroid, based on the recommendations, and partly because it uses port 8888 instead of 2121 that I'm using for another app.
One problem I'm seeing is that it doesn't load my Contacts. I get a yellow triangle and the message, "Failed with network error." This is on a Sprint E4GT running Calkulin's 2.7 if that matters.
I have used myphone explorer! It works great. I believe you can copy n sync files and folders from your pc to your phone. you can send sms through your phone from your pc keyboard. I was really impressed with it and it's almost a 5 star free program at the market.

iSyncr? Though haven't tried that before.
Who has a working method? I mean they can't make this so hard putting music on a phone from a macbook....
There's been other posts about this I'm pretty sure, did you search to find similar threads? Search the other lte variants forums as well.

I do it manually. Pop my micro sd card into the usb slot on my macbook and use finder to copy files over. I'm using neutron music player so it handles my mp3 and m4a/alac lossless files with no problem.
There's a couple apps that try to automate this but my collection doesn't change a lot so I found this approach easier.

Oh, and if you want to use the built-in storage on the device, the android file transfer app for mac works and is fast - even faster than copying to my sd card.

The issue I have is when I am copying files over, it says screen is locked but its not and then transfer stops through android file transfer..i could put the micro sd in a sd card in the card reader...
I searched but couldn't find anything...could anyone post those links?
Samsung Kies?

Make sure your device is connected as a camera, not an mtp device.

I have tried that but it still gives me the same message. If I use the UMS app I can get access to external without android file transfer but not internal. I really would like access as my backup from my old phone are all on my mac

I use TuneSync. It will allow wired or wireless syncing of music from iTunes to your android device. Fairly simple to set up.
Here is the Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...EsImNvbS5oaWdod2luZHNvZnR3YXJlLnR1bmVzeW5jIl0.
Easy phone tunes is the best one I used so far. I haven't upgraded to mountain lion so not sure if it compatible. However the only annoying thing is that you can only sync everything or 1 playlist. But it's super fast so I guess that makes up for the lack of functions.

Just downloaded this. Well worth the few bucks, IMO.
Thanks for the link.
I have installed the proper Samsung Drivers and my PC running Windows 8 isn't recognizing my note 2. I Can't access my internal memory or the external SD. Anyone have any ideas? I tried searching through all the threads on XDA and I couldn't find anything.
I didn't have this problem with Windows 8 it did take a while for it to recognize it the first time... try a different port and wait a while
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Mine did it one time .... uninstall the drivers and reinstall then it will work .... I used the note 2 root tool in development to install them

Same issue, no amount of driver installing/reinstalling seems to fix it. My phone won't even recognize a pc.
I had this same problem using a usb cable that wasn't the original that came with my note 2. Once I switched to the original cable it worked.

You can try a different port that's what worked for me. Or uninstall the usb driver and let it install again manually.
Or you can try this to see your ext. SD

Had this same annoying issue with my GS3 and Windows 8. I'm now back to Windows 7.
I was using Astro file manager to clear some space on my phone, and noticed that I had a folder called emulated on there that had all the same files, figuring that was what was taking up so much space I deleted it. Now all my files are gone from sddisk0 too! Is there any way to reverse a mass delete like this??

Maybe try connecting to a PC (or Mac) and running an undelete prog. or check to see if there is an undelete app out their.

Just tried two apps from the marketplace once couldn't scan it the other just FC instantly :-/ I need to get my files back
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
The apps you are trying to use wont work as the phones internal sd is MTP and cannot be mounted as a disk. THIS HERE is your only option. Its a pain in the ass but youll get all your stuff back provided you havent been using the phone heavily overwriting the stuff u want to recover. Used this on two GS3's, a Galaxy Nexus and my Note II. Flawless if you follow the instructions

If it is powered up you should be able to connect it to pc and it should connect via mtp and you will have access to both internal and external sdcard. Just like you did before the screen broke.

yes, i can connect my phone via usb but the problem is i can't access to my files
because it's locked and my phone alive.
There was a Windows app that can mirror your screen to your computer via usb. I forget the name of it though. I used it when I broke my screen.
I don't recall the name though
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Well if you know how to use adb then you can boot into recovery. Then mount the the internal sdcard and pull it. Everything on your external sd can be accessed via a card reader.
