So I've really been digging the cataclysm 4.3 rom lately. Only thing that I'm having issues with is changing my softkeys. I'd ideally like to have them set up in the RECENTS HOME BACK configuration. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction towards modifying this myself as it is not natively supported in the rom. Thanks for any help

I'm using AOKP and would to disable the navigation buttons at the bottom. Thing is, the only way to navigate without them, is using the shortcuts in the power menu :-/
I remember seeing a mod that gave us quick controls(the same kind seen in the browser) but for use as a navigation radial in the homescreen. I can't find the mod anywhere though, so was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction?
Thanks

I have read on the Internet that you need to go into values/Bools.xml and change true to false. Well phone phone is lacking the folder values in framework–res.apk
I'm on 4.0.4
Does anyone know another way to hide them on completely stock rom? Everything is stock even the recovery.
Thank you so much in advance!

Any ideas?

Are you rooted? If you are try to search for Full screen mod or something. I'm not sure it's possible if your device is locked.

I'm wanting to do the tablet mod without using cwm. I can root fine and change values on my own. I just don't have the values folder in my framework–res.apk for some reason :?

Also downloaded app from this thread to see if it also changed Bools.xml or had a values folder and it does not so now I am lost on how to hide soft keys on my own.

Hide Nav Bar
Hello everybody!
So I have been looking around the internet for about half an hour now for a solution to this. I have a Nexus 4 and I just installed LMT and really like the fullscreen thing. After running into countless unhelpful threads about hiding the softkeys, I came across this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497558
It worked!!! It worked perfectly! (at least it worked perfectly on my Nexus 4). It hides the nav bar without hiding the notification bar!!!
You can now hide soft keys (and keep notification bar) without modifications and reboots. Just try my new app:
GMD Hide Soft Keys
It also adds Quick NavBar - soft keys that can be opened with simple swipe from bottom and then autohide when not needed :good:.
After seeing some of the new Blackberry 10 screenshots, I noticed that it has soft buttons like Android 4.
Is it possible to add a phone icon to the left of the back button to launch the app?
Like so:

Would be dope.

You can with aokp

good day.
Thanks, but I'm not interested in leaving CM9.
Is there another way?
Bump for more info
AOKP, unless CM adds it as part of their rom.

Does anyone know if it's possible to hide or show the navigation bar on demand? I'm running bugless beast nightly.
I found another thread, flashed the zip, got soft bricked. Anyone know of an app or another way to do it?

AOKP if you're willing to change ROM's.
yes, aokp, slim ics, foxhound(theoretically all the roms sharing aokp settings) will do the job. they allow u to control or hide nav bar in power button menu.

Awesome. Thanks guys... I'll change up and give it a shot.
Does anyone know which JB roms allow you to remove the soft keys? I'm currently running the final AOKP nightly but am looking to try others. Thanks.
If you remove the soft keys how do you plan on navigating thru the phone... unless there's something I haven't seen, the soft keys are needed

You can add qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to you build props to remove the onscreen buttons

I've been wondering this too.

For what reason......
The buttons disappear when they need to.
Not like they take up space on the screen. They are needed and available when they are needed and go away when they aren't needed so why try to remove something you will need.
I dont get it.
If you still want to try to remove the buttons I believe I seen this option available in the JB Sourcery ROM for the Nexus. Read about JB Sourcery here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1833834
Paranoid Android supports it.

I use LMT Launcher to hide the soft keys, the come up when I command them to. It gives more screen real estate. I use it on top of Nova. YOu can set gestures if you want as well. Once I got rid of them, I couldn't stand having them on my screen anymore. Now if only every app came in full-screen mode, my life would be complete.
