Hey,
I have bougt a hdmi miracast dongle at eBay.
It is mediatek CPU based and only accept a micro USB connection.
Attached to this message are two pictures that show the inside and the outside.
This dongle is a zk technologies w18 dongle and beside miracast it should also support Intel widi.
Unfortunately it doesn't support... and I cannot connect my laptop to the dongle.
I can connect two different phones with 4.2.1 android, but no success with Intel widi
Any one has a device like this? Any idea where can i get a new firmware?
Thanks!
Ihave the same device and same question? Are there any solutions to hacking this device?

But after a few tries i've managed to connect my laptop to the device, but it just worked one time... and i have no idea how did i manage to do that... and i could never ever again got it connected...
So i will have to wait for a while and see what is their "hardware" upgrade...
Really fast answer))
So, it is interesting that they provide update functionality. Could you please ask them about it? Is it possible to update existing device on home PC?

Sorry I was wrong. I want to connect my macbook to device, so I have to establish computer-to-computer connection. The right words should be, "supporting computer-to-computer wifi connection".
My questions:
I just bought device hdmi dongle (w18) and try to find way for connecting my macbook.
Could you please tell is it possible? Should I update firmware for that, and can I do it at home PC for existing device?
Does device support wifi access point mode, because I found that mac os x have no wifi direct?

I have a device that internally looks the same, although I do not know who produced it, but where your's say MT-WFD18, mine says RLM218_1.1, and just below W-SL + 2813.
I haven't tried anything else than just miracast, which worked not so well, was fairly slow screen update, with sound out of sync while using Dice Player on my LG G2.
When i read det description from the seller it mentions something about 'intuitive interface', from what I can see, it is just a bootlogo static screen, is there a standard way of communicating with these devices, like common SW that do something, or is it likely the intuitive interface is just that, static screen?
Did anyone find any hacks/fw updates for these?
[EDIT] Added pictures, sorry about the quality, lazy and just used mobile phone, and it seem i amanged to get part of my beard in with it! :/
I have what seems to be a re-branded ZK W18(Allview Smart2View). Worked reasonably well with my phone for a while(some stuttering was present, the occasional disconnect) but I was quite happy with it as my phone has no tv-out. Used it maybe about 5 times. Today I was trying to show somebody some videos I took from one of my kids training and discovered it has no sound. Got sound after a reboot, but it disconnected after half a minute and sound didn't come back since. I am also interested in an update to make it more stable...

1. better hardware(impossible...)
2. better firmware(almost as impossible, it seems)
Yups... i still haven't found a new firmware
I have this device too (allview branded). Worked for a while, then sound dissappeared, then it kept restarting, then just gives black screen. I suspect it's overheating, and maybe it is damaged because of that. Not recomended...
found this in a chinese file sharing website.
I searched with the terms mt8636 and rlm218 and found this:
https://ufile.io/gah08
I don't know if something can be done with that but maybe someone can see what it is.

One of the things I wanted to be able to use my Pixel C for when I got it is Citrix Receiver. I wouldn't want to use it always for work but it would be nice when traveling to just take my Pixel C and my bluethooth mouse and be able to do some remote work with it if something were to come up. However, everytime I try and connect all I get is a black screen. I can connect with my phone and my Nexus 7 2013 but not my Pixel C. Has anyone else tried using this at all with any luck? This will be a big let down for me if it won't work at all.
Are you running MM or N?
MM
Hmm... It worked on mine absolutely fine on MM. I'm now on N Preview and it's working OK as well? Perhaps it is something on the business side of things rather than your Pixel?

I work for an IT reseller who specialises in Citrix, the connection time and authentication that you use will depend entirely on what is running on your company's back-end Citrix environment. It will also depend on the version of NetScaler that it is connecting in through as well as the version of StoreFront Server. This isn't something I'll be able to help you with I'm afraid
I'd suggest dropping a support call through to your IT support guys who should be able to advise of the parameters for your environment.

I had this same issue. You can work around this by creating a file in the root of your internal memory called "receiverconfig.txt". The contents of the file should be a single line: "ThinwireMode=h264". Let me know if this doesn't work for you.

Hi there!
I've got NuAns NEO a couple of months ago. I tried to pair it with NexDock station via adapters, but it didn't work. Then I was googling and tring to find information in Internet about this gadget and Continuum feature. On Japanese sites I found something like it but works only via Miracast stick called ScreenBeamMini. It's weird...
Other threads I've seen there is not additional information about that. So, is there anyone who can help me?
Many thanks

I was using a Q601 for a while. Nice device too. But too many experiments left it soft bricked for the moment...
Even though this device has a USB C port Wired continuum did not work by default. Continuum via screen cast/screen beam device works though .
@ABylinin
I think there are some cabs or other ways to enable continuum wired for the SD617. Maybe it has been done already some where here on the forums. If you figure out how or find the answer to enable this on the Snapdragon 617 let us know.

@brichan
So, yes but it's not a desired solution.
@nate0
My research finished, and I found no way to solve this problem. One of the reasons is USB 2.0 with USB-C form factor that doesn't support DisplayPort over ALT Mode, which works only over USB 3.0 and later.
Closed.
Hi all,
Today out of curiosity I tried to use the Cast feature on my Nokia together with the Connect app in Windows 10. The phone manages to find the PC and tries to connect, then the PC sees the request and tries to accept it, however, it ends with an error saying "Something went wrong with the projection." The Connect app on the PC is version 10.0.17134.1 as seen in the picture. My phone is running Android Pie on the October patch. I was wondering if anyone has managed to successfully cast their screen to Win 10 PC and if so which versions of Android and the Connect app do you guys have?

Same here, I've also tried with a Samsung TV (KU6000). The phone finds the TV and tries to connect, then TV says connecting to phone for a few seconds and that's it. Nothing happens.

Yes, I'm running Android Pie. Never tried on Oreo. But, it's not Nokia/HMD global issue though, Google dropped it since Android 6. It's a problem with Nokias, Pixels and other Android one devices. You can check here. You can also Google for Miracast on Android one devices.

Okay, I didn't expect that. However, if Miracast is dropped, what exactly does the Cast option support then? It does not make sense for the option to be there if it simply does not work.

The cast option is for use with Google's Chromecast, Android TV, or Google Home. It uses a proprietary protocol, so it is only possible to cast to Google products.

Don't know. What's more interesting is that Nokia devices are Miracast certified (see this). But, there's no mention of variants, only like base models are mentioned.

Actually, I can only see older models in the link you posted. Nokia 6.1 is not listed. :/
I'm having some trouble with Android Auto. My new OnePlus 11 will only connect "Charging Only" and will not connect for File Transfer / Android auto.
If I connect via USB and enable "USB Tether" it worked for a second, enough to pop Android Auto, and then disables...
It did work for a phone-to-phone transfer using OnePlus's transfer app!
What else have I tried:
1) Hard reset to factory
2) developer mode - I just tried editing the default connection mode (after enabling developer mode) and still nothing.
3) USB monitor - Indeed I have also tried a USB monitor, and nada. It connects to power and then disconnects immediately.
Verification! Both my car and the monitor connected perfectly with no additional config to my OnePlus 9, and my Oneplus 7 Pro today.
Any suggestions?
Exact same problem here...after trying to connect nothing happens (in Skoda Kamiq). Phone says it's connected to android auto. Strange things is it works without problems in my other car (Toyota Aygo). Seems like a compatibility issue in with car hardware or software. Probably a system update is needed to fix this sinds it's a new phone.

Yep..9.0
USB Debug is not enabled
For me it's more than one device that does not work. Both Android Auto on my 2018 Nissan Leif and my external monitor. Both of which worked perfectly with my OnePlus 9.

I spoke to support and they wanted to replace my device, by just returning it!
I would have to be without a device (I traded in my old one). I would likely move to Samsung rather than be without a phone. Then return it.

I phones them. We went through everything. It's 100% the phone as the same issue manifest with multiple devices. Car & Monitor.
I'm sure this is software related because it works in my other car. I wouldn't return my device to find out the new phone has the de problem. Also read alot about Samsung users (s23) with connection issues for Android Auto.
I'm somehow relieved it's a software problem so they CAN fix it, the question is, when..
