Mediatek mt8636

Hey,
I have bougt a hdmi miracast dongle at eBay.
It is mediatek CPU based and only accept a micro USB connection.
Attached to this message are two pictures that show the inside and the outside.
This dongle is a zk technologies w18 dongle and beside miracast it should also support Intel widi.
Unfortunately it doesn't support... and I cannot connect my laptop to the dongle.
I can connect two different phones with 4.2.1 android, but no success with Intel widi
Any one has a device like this? Any idea where can i get a new firmware?

Hey!
I can connect using an android phone, but i'm unable to connect to it using intel WIDI...
I've have contacted ZK Technologies and they did reply with this:

But after a few tries i've managed to connect my laptop to the device, but it just worked one time... and i have no idea how did i manage to do that... and i could never ever again got it connected...
So i will have to wait for a while and see what is their "hardware" upgrade...

Sorry I was wrong. I want to connect my macbook to device, so I have to establish computer-to-computer connection. The right words should be, "supporting computer-to-computer wifi connection".

My questions:
I just bought device hdmi dongle (w18) and try to find way for connecting my macbook.
Could you please tell is it possible? Should I update firmware for that, and can I do it at home PC for existing device?
Does device support wifi access point mode, because I found that mac os x have no wifi direct?

I have a device that internally looks the same, although I do not know who produced it, but where your's say MT-WFD18, mine says RLM218_1.1, and just below W-SL + 2813.
I haven't tried anything else than just miracast, which worked not so well, was fairly slow screen update, with sound out of sync while using Dice Player on my LG G2.
When i read det description from the seller it mentions something about 'intuitive interface', from what I can see, it is just a bootlogo static screen, is there a standard way of communicating with these devices, like common SW that do something, or is it likely the intuitive interface is just that, static screen?
Did anyone find any hacks/fw updates for these?

Worked reasonably well with my phone for a while(some stuttering was present, the occasional disconnect) but I was quite happy with it as my phone has no tv-out. Used it maybe about 5 times. Today I was trying to show somebody some videos I took from one of my kids training and discovered it has no sound. Got sound after a reboot, but it disconnected after half a minute and sound didn't come back since. I am also interested in an update to make it more stable...

Miracast smart2view dongle
Hi,
I purchassed one of thode too.
The original is made in china:
ZK-W18 Miracast dongle.
Playback is a little choppy.
Any ideas to improve playback?

2. better firmware(almost as impossible, it seems)

Yups... i still haven't found a new firmware

I have this device too (allview branded). Worked for a while, then sound dissappeared, then it kept restarting, then just gives black screen. I suspect it's overheating, and maybe it is damaged because of that. Not recomended...

Question problem with the type c - pc port

Hi everyone, I wanted to know if this problem was related to a software problem or is it my a52s broken something in hardware
when i connect a cable type-c both side on my pc the data when i connect the mobile phone to a type c port on my pc the peripheral connects and disconnects in quick succession, this only happens when i connect it to a supported type-c port
I have done several tests and I can confirm that the problem is the cell phone, with another cell phone the problem does not exist and I can reach the classic speeds of the type-c gen 2
currently the a52s mobile phone is equipped with android 11 with the one ui 3.1 with root
if someone can do some tests and verify the correct functioning of the port, I kindly ask you to write if you are on android 11 or android 12 with or without root permissions, thank you very much

Try playing with Developer options usb options.
If Developer options are already on, temporarily turn off.
Check Windows Event Viewer for error messages.

already check this, on or off the dev option don't change anything. i try also the code *#0808# to change the parameters of the usb, but nothing, the problem still on.

Event Viewer is part of Windows built in management tools...

According to the GSMArena listing for this phone, the USB controller only supports USB 2.0 speeds. Assuming this is correct, you will not get better speeds depending on which port of your PC you connect to, no matter how great the PC-side port and/or cable might be.

Question Android auto not working

I'm trying to use Android Auto with my toyota yaris and my oneplus 9 pro. But whenever I plug in the usb c cable nothing happens. The phone only starts to charge. I have tried to delete the cache and storage of the app, reinstall android auto, reboot and changing the default usb configuration in developer settings of my phone. But nothing happens, my girlfriend can use android auto in the car with her galaxy s21+ with the same cable. So it does not seem to be the car or the cable.
Does anyone has any recommendations to fix this?
Android version: 12
Oxygen OS: 12.1
Build number: LE2123_11_C.61
Android Auto version: 7.8.622514-release

is "Add new cars to Android Auto" enabled?
also:
in "connection help" they write, that USB debugging has to be turned off (I have it turned on and it connects nevertheless)

Yes "Add new cars to Android Auto" is enabled. I will try to turn USB debugging off to see if that helps.

it has to be installed as a system app. So it either has to be included with the rom or flashed as part of a gapps package. Downloading it from the Play Store will not work. So that could be your problem.

Use high end cable or new cable only for AA. Most probably it will fix your issue. I faced the same issue, and I changed the cable. If I can see the cable I can let you know.

I bought a new cable last Saturday and that cable works for my gf's phone. So that's why I think it's my phone.

Yes, I found for the 9 pro that the only cable that successfully worked for me using adb and fastboot on the computer was my 8 pro cable. The cable I used to use wouldn't work on the 9 pro. Also I found that I have a DAC that works on the 8 pro but will not work on the 9 pro.

Question Android auto not connecting

Hello . hope everyone is fine. I just bought the phone funtouch os 12 version. I updated android auto. tried to connect it to my car with many usb. it doesnt show me the android auto setup at all. and when I open the app there's no car connected. I deleted data, cach and literally did every thing but it is not working at all. any help please?

no. but I deleted connected device and bluetooth

Your car is not the problem i faced that before and support had no idea what's happening, anyway activate developer mode and change usb configuration to transfer
That fixed it for me

I didn't put it from developer mode. But i tried changing it to transfer. Still nothing changed. It showed me only once that android auto is connected. But nothing changed in the car. And can't even press the notification. And when I open the settings of android auto. Couldn't find any car connection. It's so frustrating

I've just tried to put it to transfer. still the same issue. even though it is another car. But I was able to connect it with a car that has wireless android auto.
I really tried every usb, original and even 6A usb from my original one plus.
I'm I the only one having this problem

For me AA works fine in my Audi.
But it doesn't work in the Volvo of the company.
The volvo also had difficulties with my Huawei P30 Pro. Die Audi didn't have problems.
So could well be the car.

I don't think so. Because I've tried it in my Chevrolet and in a BMW. The usb is recognized. But when I open android auto. It says connect a usb to start android auto

Question USB OTG not working

Hi all,
I just picked up my OP11 (UK) and the for some reason the OTG USB is not recognised by the device. I'm not new to OnePlus devices and have switched the OTG toggle on, I've tried developer options and switched the default USB option to File Transfer.
The USB OTG works on my other android devices, so it's not an issue with the USB stick, can anyone assist?

I've managed to sort it out. For those having the same issues just go into settings and reset all settings and that should do the trick.

Yay!
Unfortunately that's pretty drastic and like a factory reset although it may fix it, it doesn't find the root cause. Meaning if it reoccures you're boned, again. Finding the root cause can be a pain but it's a better plan. Usually you can find the issue in a matter of minutes, or hours over a day or a week. It seems like a daunting task at first at first but it rarely actually is.
