One of the things I wanted to be able to use my Pixel C for when I got it is Citrix Receiver. I wouldn't want to use it always for work but it would be nice when traveling to just take my Pixel C and my bluethooth mouse and be able to do some remote work with it if something were to come up. However, everytime I try and connect all I get is a black screen. I can connect with my phone and my Nexus 7 2013 but not my Pixel C. Has anyone else tried using this at all with any luck? This will be a big let down for me if it won't work at all.
Are you running MM or N?
MM
Hmm... It worked on mine absolutely fine on MM. I'm now on N Preview and it's working OK as well? Perhaps it is something on the business side of things rather than your Pixel?

I work for an IT reseller who specialises in Citrix, the connection time and authentication that you use will depend entirely on what is running on your company's back-end Citrix environment. It will also depend on the version of NetScaler that it is connecting in through as well as the version of StoreFront Server. This isn't something I'll be able to help you with I'm afraid
I'd suggest dropping a support call through to your IT support guys who should be able to advise of the parameters for your environment.

I make it into our Citrix Storefront but once there I can get a connection to my Virtual Desktop.
Well turns out I can run serveral test apps now as well just not able to get access to Virtual Desktops.

I had this same issue. You can work around this by creating a file in the root of your internal memory called "receiverconfig.txt". The contents of the file should be a single line: "ThinwireMode=h264". Let me know if this doesn't work for you.

With my old Orange SPV C500 phone I could plug it into my laptop and the phone would use the laptop's Internet connection (once I've installed ActiveSync/WMDC). I've tried all the connection modes on my HTC Desire but they all look to be using the 3G connection instead. I've got HTC Sync 2.0.33 installed.
Is this possible? I'm not always going to be in areas where I can get 3G/HSDPA. Thanks
Best you search for the term "tethering" in this forum - you will find what you would like to know.
Thanks for the quick reply. I don't mean using my Mobile as a Modem though (i.e - tethering). That works a treat.
I mean plugging my mobile into my laptop and "using my laptops broadband" connection on my HTC Desire. Basically the other way around (laptop to mobile, not mobile to laptop). This is possible with Windows Mobile.
I think you misunderstand. OP wants to use the PCs internet connection for the phone if I understand the OP correctly.
This may be possible using some ADB commands, but I am not sure.

What are ADB commands? I take it it's not officially supported? Like it is on Windows Mobile then. Thanks.
Sorry, got it now. You are right, WM (or better: ActiveSync from MS) had that functionality. HTC's Sync is far behind that - I'm close to throw it into the bin (if I only had something better). Therefore it is not possible to use your laptop as a modem for your phone. On the other hand: The Desire's WiFi-receiver is really excellent. Where you need access to a LAN try ES File Explorer together with either a WiFi or Bluetooth connection.

Thanks. Nevermind. It was worth asking.
As the HTC Desire has it's own Wireless and 3G/HSDPA. I won't use it often but it can be handy, when you have no 3G/HSDPA/Wireless available but a PC with USB Port and working Broadband.

I also missed this feature from my WinMo HTC TD2
I hope one day this will be possible with our HTC Desire. Here in my office we dont have WiFi as we only use LAN with our laptops. And there are no WiFi signals nearby
I have to wait till I get home to be able to have WiFi and update weather and download and install stuffs in my Desire

Thanks for the link. Will do some readiings for this one. I see its not that easy and it doesnt work for everyone. I was hoping its just a one-button-click process only just like "tethering"
The Desire HD has it
Thanks AndroHero and EddyOS.
Is it easy to use on the Desire HD? It's good to see HTC have added this to the latest version of Sense.
I only got GPRS in my last job, so I'd often turn on Wifi but this obviously isn't always going to be possible. If I'm by a PC I'd obviously use that for browsing mostly anyway but some things (like Market and some websites etc...) I'd not want to access from someone else's PC. I'd want to be using my phone.
No idea, doesn't work on the HD port though
Maybe it's a stupid question, but why would you want to use the internet on a phone when you're sitting in front of a computer that's connected to the internet?
Mostly I wouldn't but things like Market Place, checking E-Mails/Facebook etc... (not always possible/you'd want to from the PC you're at) to name some examples.

personally i like to update everything on my phone via my work internet connection before i leave for the day. updating my daily news app takes over 40mb alone and i'd rather do that via my work internet connection than by using 3g.
What News App do you use? 40Mb is loads.

If so can this be done locally and remotely?

Ah it doesn't use twonky it uses it's own streaming thing which doesn't transcode but I haven't tried the allshare program I assumed that was for sharing from the phone. Thanks for the comment, I'll post back with findings incase it will help anyone.
*Edit*
It looks like allshare is only for local servers is that correct? If so is there any other apps that can connect over the internet?

Well I have a way to do this, but it will not work strictly off your NAS. You can look into an app called Subsonic, works beautifully. The problem is that you need to have the server running on a PC, unless your NAS is running some flavor of Linux in which case you might be able to hack it in there.
http://www.subsonic.org/pages/download.jsp
Hope it helps.
In other news I have been looking for help in removing the WiFi only restriction from AllShare. If this is accomplished it should be just a matter of setting up a VPN back to the NAS or server to access your files from anywhere.

Yeah this app works great, goes over wfi and simple enough to set up. Works wonderfully with msn! Since i dont have a webcam, my i9000m can be used instead! No streaming audio atm but soon the devs say
Downloaded. Works great as a webcam replacement. No hassle installation even on Windows 7 x64.
I cant have more than 320x240

Can this app be enhanced to use the usb cable rather than wifi?
Can it be enhanced to work with other front facing camera phones?

Where do I get the app for the phone ?
The title states this can be used as an HD Webcam... I tried the standard HD resolution (From Wikipedia: 720p is the shorthand name for a category of HDTV video modes having a resolution of 1280×720) but with this resolution the app FC's which it states it does if not setup correctly. The highest resolution I can goto is 480x480, going any higher on either height or width causes distortion in the picture. Anyone have any other suggestions for getting this to be HD?

Well the phone connected, the PC says "Connected". I could only get the phone to connect once though. Once I've connected and disconnected by a force close, the program no longer connected even when I can telnet into the computer on that port. This happened to all 3 computers I tried.

Hmm, that is rather weird, even after the FC's for me it still works, I just lowered the resolution. All I can think of is telling the dev about it and see if they can help or if someone else here can help. I don't know that much about the way this works really.

Hey,
I have bougt a hdmi miracast dongle at eBay.
It is mediatek CPU based and only accept a micro USB connection.
Attached to this message are two pictures that show the inside and the outside.
This dongle is a zk technologies w18 dongle and beside miracast it should also support Intel widi.
Unfortunately it doesn't support... and I cannot connect my laptop to the dongle.
I can connect two different phones with 4.2.1 android, but no success with Intel widi
Any one has a device like this? Any idea where can i get a new firmware?

I have a device that internally looks the same, although I do not know who produced it, but where your's say MT-WFD18, mine says RLM218_1.1, and just below W-SL + 2813.
I haven't tried anything else than just miracast, which worked not so well, was fairly slow screen update, with sound out of sync while using Dice Player on my LG G2.
When i read det description from the seller it mentions something about 'intuitive interface', from what I can see, it is just a bootlogo static screen, is there a standard way of communicating with these devices, like common SW that do something, or is it likely the intuitive interface is just that, static screen?
Did anyone find any hacks/fw updates for these?
[EDIT] Added pictures, sorry about the quality, lazy and just used mobile phone, and it seem i amanged to get part of my beard in with it! :/
I have what seems to be a re-branded ZK W18(Allview Smart2View). Got sound after a reboot, but it disconnected after half a minute and sound didn't come back since. I am also interested in an update to make it more stable...

Hello,
I have my own VPN located in the states.
I want to use it on my FireStick but I can not figure out how to set it up.
I checked the forums and most point to use a VPN app but I do not want to use a third party VPN, just my own.
It's a basic VPN, nothing special.
Is there any app for this or can it be done with just the firestick settings?
Sorry if there is already a post on this but I could not find it.
Best Regards
I found this: https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-install-vpn-on-a-firestick-ipvanish-vpn/
It covers both third-party and custom VPNs
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the link, but it does not seem to have instruction on how to use my own VPN, just pointing to IPVanish and other third party VPNs

Yeah, I have been looking for months for a solution, can't find it!
I will NOT be defeated!!! That's something that should be known anyway!!
Ok! Check this out! https://vpntips.com/fire-tv-vpn-install/
Now, it does mention OpenVPN but that's only for the binary files the fire device needs, since it's not built in.
It does mention a third party again, but since you own your own server, you should know what information is needed for the remaining steps.
Give it a whirl and let us know the results! It just may spark an interest in creating our own home-brewed VPN Server on some old PC laying around!
Just FYI I found the fire stick hardware to be a limiting factor in connection speed. I was not able to get over 30 mbps on the stick with a VPN. I tried many different vpns and apps and it came down to simply the stick is not powerful enough to do the encryption faster than 30mbps.
A work around was getting a router that is hardware capable dedicated for the stick.
You can also buy a cheap router that supports VPN like I did.
Simply connect one end of a LAN cable to the WAN port of the new router and the other to any LAN port of your existing one.
Then set up the new router and configure the VPN settings.
Managed to get mine set up and running in less than 15 minutes.
Here's the router I bought, running fine whilst still receiving updates with security patches:

I can't seem to figure out how to set it up on the device itself, but I could use another router....but I don't want all my devices to use VPN, just a few.

Unfortunately, I can not change my VPN server and added it as an OpenVPN server.
I do not believe it will turn your server into an OpenVPN, it just needs some files that the device does not have natively.
At least, that's my understanding.
If this is not, then yes, I bow my head in defeat.
Take care!
