I have been running Liquid-JB v2.9 for a few weeks without any problems. I turn the phone on and off several times a week due to air planetravel. Sometimes I use airplane mode and sometime I just turn the phone off.
Then last week I turn my phone back on again after landing and and a activation menu comes up from no where, so I tried to run it since the phone would not register on the new work. The phone would not automatically activate and Sprint CS tried to help me using manually programming that did not work at all. When I enter ##72786# that CS asked me to do it just get a voice that tells me that I need to call CS to activate my phone. Also seems that I am now missing some of the setting optuons since of my LF 2.9 ROM that Sprint CS asked me to look for. (Update PRL and system update)
The last few weeks my reception has been little worse than normal. 4G works very limited. Is there a way to flash the modem.
I am very new at this so feel free to move this to an appropriate thread if this is not the correct one.
Since I had problems I activated my old phone and am using it until I have my S3 fixed.

Do I just simply need a new PRL, maybe I'm way off.
Aosp roms do not have the ability to update profile and prl. There are no Aosp roms for an S3 from the carrier. These are custom made and ported, pieced together and kanged from other devices.
You need to flash a TW rom in order to reactivate the device properly and be able to update prl and profile.

After that I like to flash Liquid V 2,9 but how do I avoid getting in to the same mess again?
Where did I go wrong in the first place since It worked fine for a month with out any mods on my part?
You should be able to flash a tw rom update prl and profile and restore your nandroid no problem. This happened because at some point your device tried picking up a different network or signal and lost what was registered in it.

Ok guys, i need some help... my profile/prl update has not worked for a long time, i get error code 4 (contact customer service). i assumed this was simply an issue with the ROM i was using however i flashed everything back to stock with odin. I am running stock everything with the latest FG01 modems. I still could not update my profile or prl.
So i thought maybe something was messed up in my programing so i ##RTN ed the device... now it wont activated at all... i get the same error code when trying to activated. So now i have no data/voice or text.
Anyone have any ideas on what i am missing?
please close... was a provisioning issue with Sprint. I ESN swapped to a different device then right back and i am GTG... thanks

I had this issue ...
Fix: when updating both Prl and profile make sure you're on Wi-Fi. Period. If you are not it won't update.
So if you want simply flash the ROM u like, sign in to Google and let it update .the manually update both prl and profile. Again on WiFi.
I was on CM10.1 and I wiped data/cache and installed CM10. I was in a roaming area at the time and when my phone booted my phone told me that it needed to be activated? It would not work since there was no data. So I Odin'd the latest stock ROM and activated it when I got home however it is stuck on verizon for some unknown reason. The PRL is 0 and I tried manually putting a sprint PRL on the phone using DFS, but it never sticks. Can someone help me please?

Someone mentioned that putting it in airplane mode and then turning off airplane mode helped them get off verizon, however this was only when they had used a PRL that gave them verizon roaming so it may/may not work for you
Were you using a PRL that gave you verizon roaming while in that "roaming area" you mentioned?
If you are still on TouchWiz dial ##72786# and see if that fixes the problem.
Check the PRL thread in development, flash the sprint one using a TW based ROM.

I have flashed my phone by following a guide on here. After doing all the proper steps, it doesn't mention how to make it activated on my already active cricket account. I called the stores but they said since i flashed it myself they wont activate it unless i had it flashed by the person at their store. So I called the tech support and all they did was put the DEC 268********* number on my account. I try making calls on the flashed phone and nothing but busy signals. I can only call cricket customer service but thats it. So I know it has to be a good flash. So how do I activate and i was also told not to use *228 because it would erase the flash settings.

What guide did you follow? Also just a little advice, it's usually not a good idea to let the company know you've rooted, flashed, or altered the phone in any way.
I spent a long time setting up a jelly bean rom on my epic 4g only to realize that i had to activate it on a stock rom first

Yup. Have to make sure you have the bootable FC09 in the multiboot in order to activate, as the Sprint commands won't work from Cyanogen Mod (10, not sure of 9, 10.1, etc.). Beat my head against the wall for a bit there last night.

I had this same problem, but on Ting.
What I realized though is this. Once you are on FC09, update PRL and Profile in phone settings, you can flash radios and ROMs all you want and it doesn't forget that it is activated. I still get 4G too, when I'm in a 4G area.
Airplane mode
I am not new to rom's, flashing roms or anything of the sort..... I am however having issues with a brand new epic 4g, that had mtd stock rooted rom which I put on it, for some reason whether I flash the SlimBean rom or another rom I always get the phone being unable to activate being stuck on airplane mode, yet I can toggle airplane mode off and it still says the same thing..... Can I just use odin to flash the modem to fix this or what would be my best resolution here? Also if all I need to do is flash the modem in Odin, which modem would I need? Or can this be fixed via adb?
My issue is on the Remics rom and on the SlimBean rom specifically.

Last night I loaded the rom hyper drive and it was working fine but after a reboot it would just bootloopso I refreshed with a different kernel(the stock one from aroma) from them on the phone will load but with no network connection. I tried every rom I could get my hands on (about 6) from AOSP to samsung base and everyone has no connection. My last resort was to restore using the unroot method which worked fine but I still have no network connection... What can I do?

Can you try to update the profile and prl?
Maybe also try to flash the modem.

how do you update the profile and prl?
once a TW ROM has booted. Click Settings -> System Update -> Update Profile and Update PRL are in that menu.
I hope that works for you.
If that doesn't work, there's a dialer code somewhere that will force a reactivation, just make sure you're on a wifi network

There are known issues with the Sprint version of Hyperdrive right now...the developer is working on a fix for this ....so I would just flash something else until a fix is released ....because reactivating the phone doesn't work...but they said dirty flashing it gets your DATA back but I don't recommend that.....this often happens with Roms that are released for Multi Carriers.

I suddenly began having signal issues after virgin Mobile began "upgrading" the latest few weeks (towers/system). Well, the customer service rep told me to "update my profile" in settings, but I'm running CM10.1 and I can not find any option for this. So, after doing what research I could on here, I think I have found that I need to get the latest VM PRL in a flashable zip.
If there isn't one, do I have to go back to a sense based rom in order to do this? Then, when I wipe that and put CM10.1 on it, will it remain updated (as in, is this a firmware update that won't wipe with the system?)?

If I need to revert to stock in order to update my profile, since I goofed when I first began flashing roms and forgot to back mine up (on the newest radio)...would grabbing a backup from a friend's phone (exact same one on same network) and putting it on my sd card and flashing it as if I didn't forget...would this work? I mean, it isn't specific to her phone number/ESN etc, right? Or is it?
I flashed your rooted stock rom and then tried to do a system update and nothing. So, I called into customer care and turns out there is a power outage in my area and I'm to call them back after 5pm. :/
Anyhow, this should allow me to update my PRL later, right?

Also, I went back to stock with the rooted one you made and the "My account" app from VM keeps telling me that there is an updated PRL available for download, but I it won't download.

My signals been great it must be your location because I don't have that option to update
I spoke to customer care again yesterday evening and he assured me that there wasn't any updates pending and it was simply a down tower. :/
