I know nothing about rooting. Last phone I ever flashed a rom on was a touchro 2 aka rhodium. I just purchased my evo and its the newest model with the latest software. Is there a easy guide out there that I could understand? i been searching for a few days but I dont understand some of these methods. Any help would be appreciated.

I officially love this forum! Was about to post this same exact thread and it suggested me here to keep from spam... NEVER have i seen that in a forum, so this is awesome. following instructions on that link to finish this up:-D
ive tried atleast 5+ different rooting methods but cant seem to get it.. i rooted my samsung moment easily as well as others but when it comes to this evo i cant do it.. i bricked it 2 times and to the point where i couldnt even flash the stock ruu anymore but luckily it was only 2 days since buying it so i was able to do a brand new swap and now i have my new evo #2 and havent touched it yet unless i got a fool proof rooting method.. Im not trying to go thru the bricking of this one to.. any input is thankful

I would ask in the Cyanogenmod thread, and there doesn't seem to be any in this forum.
also if you have a rooted droid this isn't your forum. this phone is NOT a droid. it is however ANdroid powered. you have a samsung galaxy s2 epic touch 4g. not a droid. also I would go ask in the other forum as well.

+1 for this one... Please be carefull wether you have the LTE or GSM version (toro or maguro) and NOT flash the image for the wrong version.

Aren't the files that are included in that thread Verizon LTE only?

Really wish people would read how to return to stock at the same time they read how to custom ROM their device.
Don't know why you'd ever get so deep into customizing your phone not at all knowing how to go back...

This is why I think my rant should be a sticky.
EDIT: It probably wouldn't matter. Nobody reads stickies anyway.
thanks for all ur replies guys, i managed to do it in the end, i used wugfresh toolkit.
honestly im used to romming and rooting and stuff, with my desire hd, sensation, galaxy s2 so im not an exact newbie.
but this was just at a whole new level looool, i read that this is one of the easiest devices to root and whatnot but it was honestly just mind baffling to get it back to stock.
ive finally gone back to 4.0.1 just like i had out the box but im not recieving the ota to 4.0.2 which i was previously on before i rooted and stuff???
do i just wait??? will it ever show up??? if so how long roughly??
i did manually go to 4.0.4 yesterday but my download speeds were just rubbish, like this morning i used speed test from market and i clocked up 5kbps download speed???
was wondering if anyone in the uk had done the same? and how there device was running after??

are you serious... I've done a G1, N1, some LTE tablet, Wildfire, Sensation and GS2. The nexus phones are the easiest to lock, unlock, stock-ify and what not. sure you might need somme adb codes and fastboot codes, but they're really simple if you put some heart into it. After my sensation and Gal Nex, I've told myself to never get any other phone other than a nexus.

Just manually flash 4.0.2 if that's the version you want. There's images on the official Google website for stock versions of 4.0.1, 4.0.2, and if on GSM, 4.0.4.

Hi guys. Although I rooted my own Samsung ages ago, I haven't had to root anything in ages and my bro in law has asked me to look into rooting his Arc S.
What I seemed to be noticing is the need to unlock the bootloader first but I'm not sure where to start.
Is there some sort of 1-click method at all? He does want to stay with the stock OS so it is only the root he wants.
Thanks guys.
There are many possibilities to root without unlocking bootloader. Searching would have exposed you with many guides.
First of all - What are the Android version and build number of the phone?

Hi. I have posted earlier a working version of how to do it.
You can find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49240275&postcount=1378
This post shows how to get Ultimate HD on your Arc S, but has working links to programs and ROMs, so you can use that.
I personally do recommend Ultimate, because it is just so much smoother. My phone was lagging and all the programs were slowing it down, but now it's super smooth and I always have space in the ROM.
Soon I'll post a complete recommendation on how to get the most out of your Arc S.
Hope this helped.
thanks guys.
the android version is 4.0.3
the build is 4.1.A.0.562
These 2 topics will help you. Both root your phone, which one you will use, is up to you (which ones seems easier).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038 - this one works only on 4.1.A.0.562
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219711 - should work on every firmware
So I recently found my old Samsung sm-T310 which I rooted and installed a ROM on. I'm looking to get this back to stock so I can play a few games, nothing more. I haven't been in the rooting game for some years so I'd appreciate anyone pointing me in a direction where I can follow some detailed instructions for getting this thing back to stock. Also, if it matters, I'm mainly on a Mac but I can, if needed, use a Windows PC to get it done.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Wait? Stock 4.2.2 can play a few games while custom roms cannot? No games (that I know) can work on 4.2.2 , minimum version to run any decent apps is 4.4.
Idk about restock but I will tell mods to move your thread to tab 3 forum that is more active so that more people can see your thread
