[Q] big qusstion , phone fell in a pudle - HTC One VX

title During a rainy day, the phone (HTC One vx) came.out of the pouch and landed in little puddle.
IncreĆble as it sounds it still works , from the phone , gps, Bluetooth, camera , games , screen .
There is something thought, its rebooting randomly, my best guess is , that some files are corrupted, a fresh flash would solve it , any help here is appreciated
Yes I did let it dry , even bought a compress air spray bottle and sprayed the hell out of if , I'm making this forum from the phone now
Thanks

Do you see the power menu come up before booting? If so, then there's water under the power button and the button's getting stuck coz of that.
If not, then try resetting your phone. Maybe some ROM issue.
But after ask this if the problem still persists, then you know what you've to do.
Hope this helps

[Q] desire screen acting weird

I just got a desire (used) and the screen is sometimes unresponsive. Every few times, if i touch it, the screen like goes left and right and studders up and down and isnt responsive to any touches unless you reset the phone, or turn the screen off and on a few times.
Then i try to press something, it do another thing and etc. Also phone is heating alot and i think something is wrong.. or maybe i should try to reinstall fw?
Anyone...?
Mine does this screen thing on some rare occasions, the only solution is a reboot.

For me its very often. Im just curious what might.be causing this problem. Can it be hardware or software...
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Sounds like a hardware fault.
I don't know if you have warranty since you got the phone second hand, but if you have, you better send it.
You can of course do a hard reset first, just to be sure it's a hardware issue.
settings>sd&phone storage>factory data reset
I have already done hard reset when i bought it..but its the same. So i dont have warranty.what hardware part might be causing this?cause maybe i could still repair it?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Better send it in. It's extremely difficult to replace components on the desire. Even service people do a crappy job of it sometimes.

i have installed cyanogen rom and nothing changed...so it's definetly hardware And the problem i think is with motherboard, so i need to get changed it. I will try to look for repair store in my city to ask them if they will be able to fix it and i hope it wont cost me same price that i bought this used phone
Thanks guys for trying to help me.

Display problem!! Please help!

display does not always work. The phone is not rooted. So I don't use set cpu or anything like that. The problem that I am having is when I turn the phone on (after it is shut down) it does not display the htc logo, then when it gets to the g2 it does not display that either. When the finishes turning on the screen is still black. I can press the digitizer where I know the unlock is and I can feel it vibrate then when I unlock it I can still feel it vibrate when it unlocks and it takes about 2 to get the screen on from this just pressing the on and off power button. Some1 please help. PLEASE HELP!!! Any Ideas?

Sounds like a dead LCD unit. How/when did this start happening?
Dang so the lcd is not even turning on? Since your not rooted you should get a replacment phone

I searched other forums and seems like I am not the only one with this problem. All they suggested was to take out the battery, mem card, sim and leave it for a while and then put everything back in, the display was working fine again. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me, not even restoring factory default, not to mention going through that painful "shooting in dark" process.
I am already aware that if all things fail, LCD has to be replaced. Other than that if anyone has any other suggestion(s), it'd be much appreciated. Otherwise thanks anyways

I am going through same problem. Haven't found a 'non-LCD replacement' solution yet. Maybe the above will make things work for you. There was one guy who said he turned on the phone without the mem card. So you can try this as well.
If you find anything else, please share.
Good luck.
I didn't think it was a dead lcd because after about 2 minutes of the phone already running the lcd will turn on again. and I saw your thread that said to take everything out I did try that and it did not help. any other ideas?
Does the screen flicker? If you open it up halfway and gently nudge the flex cable, does it do anything?
I juat tried and it does not flicker at all. Once the screen in on there are no problems, its getting the screen on that's hard. Its realy weird. And it started about a week ago and the phone is out of warenty.

It doesn't sound like it should be a problem but I want to root it. And install a custom rom, and I am scrared to do that because when I boot into recovery I cant see the screen.

How can it be out of warranty? G2 wasn't released until October 2010 and HTC provides a 1 year defect warranty. Here is the link. http://www.htc.com/www/support/warranty.html. I didn't look at anything outside the US though.
This is not a caused by physical damage so should be covered??
Also, Tmo, if that's who you're with might just send you a new one?
I'm assuming you don't have the Asurion 5.99 plan? That would cover it for $130 last resort.
Oh, also, Visa or Mastercard will sometimes take care of you if you used it to purchase the phone so check with them in a pinch.

[Q][Urgent] Wildfire Died?

Well I rooted my htc wildfire and overclocked it.
Everything seemed to work fine for a few months
and then...
I got a text message, and I responded to it, but I did also see that my battery was almost empty, then after responding, I putted my phone in my pocket, Then like 15 minutes later, I looked at my phone and it didn't do anything anymore, so I thought, my battery ran out, nothing to worry about then I got home, plugged in my phone... led didn't turn on... phone didn't charge. I was like damn, maybe my battery died? So I went outside to someone who also has a Wildfire and asked if I could try his battery, We switched batteries and my phone still didn't work
Does anyone know how i can fix this? my phone doesn't respond to ANYTHING I've tried
These symptoms are a bad omen.
Does it pick anything up plugging it into a computer?

also I do also think it is something with my mainboard/cpu, i've read on the internet that i'm not the only one with a phone that just doesn't respond to anything anymore (wildfire) even others who hadn't rooted their phone got this issue, although they have garrantuee :s

Yes your warranty is void. But, if you were on a Stock / Sense based ROM, you *may* be lucky and the service guys may not notice.

But maybe they won't start repairing it and give me just a new one, (since it's more expensive to repair the phone then to give me a new one i guess) and then they'll won't notice either?
also, if I do bring back my phone and they find out about it, will they charge me for the repairing costs? even if I don't want it to be repaired if it will cost me? (I already bought an iphone now, but sometimes i just want to experiment back with my android xd)
I really can't answer that mate. Policies vary widely across stores and nations. But, don't hold your breath for a new one, I think that case is extremely unlikely. I guess your best bet is to give them the phone, and have them contact yo regarding it's situation, repairs, and costs (if any) after their preliminary inspection / assessment. Only after their assessment, you give the go ahead to repair / replace (If free ).

HTC and Apple don't roll the same way.
Apple's products aren't even worth repairing, thus they don't bother doing that.
it might be an lcd problem this thing also happened to me...
I know quite a few friends of mine who had similar issues with other HTC devices and they just went to the shop and they were given new ones in a short time. usually guys at the customer service are ignorant and don't check for anything, even if in your situation it should be impossbile to know which rom you're mounting.
my advice is go there and have a brand new wildfire, nobody will discover it's without warranty
Mabye its static?
Once my brothers netbook had a static build up causing a problem i dunno if the same rules apply but try: take out battery -> hold power on for around 30secs, If that didnt work try getting into bootloader holding vol down and power on when your phones off
Hope my ideas worked and that your wildfires better

HELP! Samsung galaxy s2 sgh-t989 stuck in the ultimate boot loop.

Ok, so heres the deal. The s2 is my sisters phone, and she comes home and told me the phone wont turn on, that its stuck on the boot screen and it just keeps turning off and doing it again. So I started looking into it (Im an iPhone user, so I'm not too familiar with android devices. BUT I do know a bit about computers, cell phones and just technology in general). I ended up finding out that its stuck in a soft brick. So I started youtubing how to fix it. Found a great method using Odin3 and Samsung Kies. AND IT WORKED. I turned the phone back on, got past the lock screen and everything was all good.
After about 30 seconds, THE PHONE BRICKED AGAIN. And it went right back into the boot loop, I cant get it into download mode because it just keeps restarting after a couple of seconds. With that happening, I cant get the computer to recognize it so I can do a recovery fix with Samsung Kies. I legit cannot find any solution to it.
The thing that baffles me and is causing me a huge headache is the fact that THE PHONE IS NOT ROOTED. nothing has been done to it, its completely stock. So if there is no solution to it, can somebody at least tell me what might have been able to cause this?
Thanks to all,
Dariel
Probably bad sticky/stuck/sucky power button. That usually is the case when you can get into download mode but then it restarts.

I doubt its a corrupt OS, because like I said in my original post; my sisters phone is completely stock. No custom rom, no root. Nothing. So I'm leaning more towards the bad power button situation.

As far as I read, with this problem, Jigs dont help because the phone turns off regardless if they're in download mode or not. goodluck tho.

i only had th phone for about 2 months.... think you might be right...
it sounds like a bad power button
Like its been posted before, it sounds like you have a bad (or stuck) power button. OK try this (it might or might not work) take off the battery, and with your finger start rubbing the power button from side to side (take in consideration not to do it too hard, you don't want to hulk rub the phone to death). while you rub the button make sure to hear the click click every time you go over it. after that connect the battery and see if it boots. it worked for me. granted sometimes the problem comes back, so in all honesty this AINT a fix, its more of a workaround. but who knows it might work for you as well. Best of luck.

so i think these issues are different from OP. Though i can say, i did have the same issues you were describing.. im now happily on CM10 nightlies.. much faster and stable than the Darkside ICS rom!
Well I can verify that removing the power button from the mobo works brilliantly. No more boot loop on the t989 and nexus s. Only the middle and left or right side of the contacts need to be jumped to power it on. Remember it takes 10 seconds of holding a jumper there. Now where to find replacement buttons?
Hopes this helps guys.:good:
Alex K.
UbreakIfix technician.....
I think its a power button assembly problem. At first it would happen intermittently and it would go away till, no matter what I did, the phone would behave as if the power button was being pressed and not let go. It would happen more often when the phone would get moist due to rainy or humid conditions. So I opened up the phone, took the motherboard out and used a blow dryer on the power button area for about a minute, let it cool down and then reassemble (also blew some air in there just in case dust was causing the problem as well). The phone did not boot/reloop for a week. Then it started again, and I thought that maybe my case (d30 case) pushing on the power button really tightly all the time wasn't helping so, I cut away the are near the power button on my case and the problem has not come back in two weeks.
To Sum up....
Possible causes
-Tight cases pressing on the power buttons (Get a case that doesnt fit so tight on the phone, dont use one, or cut the power button area away from the case)
-Power button too sensitive to humidity and dust ( (disassemble , clean and heat the area up)
goood luck, my friend had the same problem before he traded it in to get an s3

[Q] Note 2 just wont turn on

I recently bought a new note 2, and everything was good and I love it!
But yesterday I was on the phone to a friend and initially I tried putting him on speaker phone, but the screen wouldn't turn on, only the soft touch keys at the bottom lit up. I thought nothing of it and continued my phone call.
It wasn't until he hung up I noticed i still coudn't the damn thing on. So i removed the battery and re inserted it. Here's where things get interesting though, now whenever i try to power it up, i get a little red light in my proximity sensor (i think) that flashes for about half a second.
I've tried soft rest, which does the same thing ( makes the proximity sensor light up for half a second)
Hard reset which does the same thing.
I haven't rooted the phone or anything. Luckily its still under manufacture warranty and I'll get samsung to have a look at it, but any thoughts on what it could be?

Well, I can tell the that the red light is normal, I get that too and its just because its booting up, when you turn your phone on, what happens exactly?
Thanks for the reply. When I press the power button, around a second later the red light blips for half a second and turns off, but the OS doesn't boot up and nothing happens.

Maybe you too.... Sorry that sucks.
This PSA was sent Flow style from my Note 2 N-7100
Now i am really getting worriyng about this, does note2 has started SDS ?
atleast 3-4 cases are reported with same symptoms.
Anyway can you tell
You were on which ROM when this happened?
Are you getting to reboot in recovery/download mod?
@dingokevin I had a read over the thread you linked, and I fear the worst has happened to my note 2. This seems like a serious issue and even a flaw with the motherboard perhaps? Thank the lord it is still under warranty. R.I.P old friend.
@dr.ketan Im not sure what SDS stands for... Yeah I was running stock touchwiz 4.1.1 I think. No modifications and no root what so ever, and nope :/ I tried holding down volume down key + home button + power but no cigar, just the proximity light flashes briefly.
SDS - sudden death syndrome
And if you are unable to get into download/recovery mode then nothing can be done except send it to service station. it highly suggests sudden death which is very known issue for SGS3.
Replying to your query at other thread, you will get motherboard replacement if it is under warranty.
Ahh thats probably whats happened then. Thanks guys, I'll send it off to samsung and have a word or two with them to see why this is happening to many people!

I was just reading up on some possible causes here on XDA with peoples S3's and someone suggested corrupted NAND memory.. I think this maybe the case because before the phone call I had installed Gangster Rio (which i honestly did purchase off the play store, hand on heart) and after playing it for a while decided to un install it and get a refund. Could me doing this have caused the NAND memory to corrupt? The game is a pretty large file...

I highly doubt it was screen damage, imho. I only received the phone last friday and have been cradling it like a fragile little baby, Its never been out of my sight lool.
Maybe i just got really unlucky and ended up with a faulty device.
If screen fault then in such case usually you can hear boot up sound. It seems your case very well fits to sds category only.

Hi Guys,
Got up this morning having left my Note 2 turned on and on charge overnight to discover this same fault -
slow flashing Red light and phone totally dead.
Unable to do anything to rectify the situation.
Still under warranty of course, phone only released in October 2012.
Is this a fault with the phone which necessitates replacement or just a battery problem?
Would be grateful for any advice / guidance / help.
Thanks,
Mike Longley.

It seems also like SDS send it to Repair AFAIK is a chip problem, not battery so you can't do anything to repair it. If it is under warranty and with counter at 0 send it. They must repair it.
