[Q] TMobile Shipped New Phone in a Worn Out Bubble Bag - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I just got my brand new Note 2 in the mail from TMobile. It really bothered me... They packaged it in a single bubble wrap bag and the bubbles were all popped...so it was like just a flat bag. Is this normal for TMobile shipping? Ugh...should I worry that the phone might break later on from the early abuse of shipping with no protection?

Whoever was in charge of packaging was probably being a smartass and did it intentionally as a "joke". Wouldn't be so funny if it was his/her device. As long as everything works properly I wouldn't stress too much. Call TMO and have them note it just in case, better safe then sorry.

A few years ago, my Moto Cliq was shipped in a bubble wrap package. Phone wasn't damaged in any way, just the box. I honestly wouldn't worry about it too much.

This is what happens when u have people that just work for a company that just doesnt take anything serious, probally was some guy goofing off at work ... ^^^ This... It's some stupid kid that doesn't take his job seriously. There are so many people out there that would kill for even a simple packer job at T-Mobile and this douche just spits on it. I've been laid off before (not T-Mobile but sprint/Nextel) and it sucked. People take sh!t for granted until it happens to them... Been there, done that. I might be a better person for it now but it can be very bad for a while.. As far as your phone, I'm sure its fine and I wouldn't worry about it unless you just wanna make a point. I'm not sure I'd send it back for that even out of spite but it might help out things. A letter or call sounds like a happy medium.. Good luck with this one lol! I'm still loving this phone even after almost a whole year which is rare for me

[Q] Faulty LTE Radio? (VZW) Which Part to Swap Out?

I received a CLNR replacement from VZW this weekend due to massive banding on my original device. Take it out inspect it for scratches, fire up the phone, check out the screen for banding etc. No scratches, screen has no banding/dead pixels and I assume all is well! Much to my dismay when I try to DL apps, surf the net or stream Netflix , make calls etc. the phone cannot keep a signal to save it's life. It has full 4G signal and after I access data or make a call, the bars are gone and there's a x in the signal bars. When this occurs, I cannot makes calls or access data etc etc. When I switch from LTE/CDMA to CDMA only I have a stable data connection, and calls can be made etc. Would I need to switch out the entire main motherboard or would I just need to swap out the antenna? I've been searching around for an answer and cannot seem to find one. Checked out a few tear downs and it seems simple enough to remove. I do have experience tearing apart and rebuilding so I do not see any issues. Thank you for any input!
If you got a CLNR and its faulty, get another replacement. Why would you try to open it and fix it, potentially breaking and voiding warranty, when you can just get it replaced for free?

Well I'm tired of playing the warranty exchange game and getting a crappier one. The screen on the one w/ the faulty radio is PERFECT. No banding, no discoloration etc. Besides I like to rip crap apart, if I break it I'll just buy another one . Plus I don't see any void warranty stickers in plain view ;o.

If you have ever gotten a Verizon CLNR you would know. I've received THREE Nexus' with scratched screens out of the box. I'm tired of the asshattery of their CLNR program. It might seem retarded to you, but after dealing w/ duds for 3-4 exchanges straight, see how you feel after that. Besides I will have fun opening it up. If it breaks I buy another one. I have the $$$ for it so who cares?

Well if you're so loaded, I'm surprised you dealt with CLNR in the first place... why not just buy a new phone every time you get a scratch on the screen there moneybags?
I dealt with it at Sprint and after 4 replacements I left my contract with them. I know it sucks, but seriously choosing to rip your phone apart and replace an antenna (which may or may not fix the problem) when you can have them replace the phone free makes absolutely no sense to me. CLNR sucks, but you're bound to get an acceptable one eventually, or you should be able to complain after so many replacements and get an actually new device.

Looks like someone drank some haterade this morning. Just cause you have it doesn't mean you need to spend it. Point is I'm bored and I want to try to fix it myself. Believe it or not, it can be fun. If you have nothing to add to this post besides trying to bash on someone that can afford extras.. Go back to your corner with your $30 a month T-mobile plan .

exchange?

so i was wondering if i should exchange my note 2 for another note 2. today i saw on my screen a small scratch that you could only see when the screen is off. its nothing bad but considering i just got the phone less than 2 weeks ago its bothering my like crazy. i did not drop it and i think i got it when taking the phone in and out of my pocket. i ordered a screen protector last week but because of sandy (i live in nyc) most of my packages were delayed. so my question is should i return it to tmobile for a new one. i have up to nov 9 to return since thats the 14 day policy and i could just make up some bs about the bluetooth or wifi not working properly. (please i dont want a lecture about the moral issues of this but considering the price i paid and how new it is im sure most of you would second guess and consider this option)
If they notice it they won't take it more than likely

thats the thing. you will only see if when the screen is off and at a certain angle. lol. its a very light scratch but i know its there and i cant help but keep looking at it and trying to "buff" it out. lol. i know im being anal about it but i hate scratches especially when i just got the phone.
the tmobile store in a mall in NYC said $50 restocking fee when i wanted to exchange my white note 2 for a titanium note 2
You aren't being anal. I would feel and be the same way.. I thought our phone had Gorilla Glass?.. My last phone the T-Mobile SGS4G had Gorilla Glass. I NEVER used a screen protector (love the feel/slide of the glass) and it didn't get the slightest scratch on the screen. I had that phone for over 2 years.. I would expect the same from this phone if it has Gorilla Glass.. Just saying
i would recommend that you instead of taking it to a store, call 611 and tell them that the speaker or w.e is not working. they will replace it with a new unit free of charge.
Good luck with that. My GNote2 showed up with a defective power button and I've been through four days of being on hold, different stories, denials, excuses and general corporate BS in an effort to get a replacement. I finally got another on the way (supposedly) but it was not easy and I hate to think how many hours I put into the effort.

I am waiting for the "I dont use screen protectors because the screens dont scratch" crowd to respond.
That being said, I doubt the screen was scratched when you got it. Not exactly sure why you would feel ok exchanging it for something you did, even if it was an accident.

He bought it yesterday , so I'm really ****ed. I talked to him on the phone and he was somewhat crying as he was hardly able to afford this after selling his laptop , as it's in India and it's really expensive in India. He didn't buy it from Google, so no RMA there.
I dropped it, sides got scratched :crying:. The scratches isn't on the back cover or the display. It's on the very sides (between the screen and the back) I don't know what that part is called, it's a glossy black which is rounded on the screen, may as well be a part of the screen.(I hope not)
I can I think afford 30-40$ max to get his tablet fixed, not more than that unfortunately. He bought it for 390$(Indian price).
Please Please, help a fellow member out I was about to root this thing for him so he can have some goodies but sooo unfortunate of this event. It's 12AM right now and I will be meeting him at 11AM tomorrow and I really don't want him to get much worried(not that he already is) and he is my best friend so that can ruin our friendship aswell :crying::crying::crying:

Not sure how you're going to find that particular part for it, much less find it for 40 bucks or less, maybe buy him a fosman TPU case to cover up the markings.
Might be helpful if you posted a pic.

You can't repair the screen like that.
Full replacement or none at all.
Either he forgives you which is going to be hard, under the circumstances you mentioned or you sell your Nexus 5 and buy him a new Nexus.
Then, take his old Nexus, sell it and buy another phone for yourself.

Broken plastic trim

Factory defect or are they going to say I caused this? the phone was never dropped and shows no signs of being dropped. I can only assume this is a result of taking my phone out of the case often. I have a tech21 case and I do take the phone out daily. Either way T-Mobile said they would credit me the charge if any. I just wanted to get some ideas on how this happened and what you think they will say caused it.
View attachment 2713012
Well it's plastic, weak plastic for that matter. I remember that my Note 2 trim was damaged from removing a stiff TPU case a few times.
Maybe Samsung should quit producing theses phones with plastic trims.
Mine broke in the exact same place yesterday. I haven't used a case much at all but I did think that when I have the taking in and out might be the reason.
I never got insurance with t mobile so didn't think about taking in. I guess I can live with it for now. Maybe put a case on

True, I dinged my volume rocker to the point that it bent. Took it back to Costco (you get 90 days return there) and swapped it out for a new one. I hated just knowing my volume rocker was dinged on a brand new note 3.
My advice working for tmobile tech support (the guys that exchange your phone). Your worrying too much, this is a manufacturer defect. They will not charge you a out of warranty fee as long as the rep notes that it NOT user error.

How's the new one you got?
Mine lasted 6 months not a scratch, no chipping and worked fine until this happened over the weekend. if it is happening it to everyone in the same place its a stress area that wasn't picked up during testing. I can only assume it had to do with case removal. Can someone else that did not have this problem confirm they did or did not remove the phone from a tight case on a regular basis? A store rep looked at mine and asked if i sat on the phone which I never have.
How did you get your phone replaced? Does t mobile have insurance for this sort of stuff?
Grande Note 3
Not trying to be a [email protected] but if you broke it from removing a "tight" case, then it's your fault. If the case was other than an official Samsung product, it's your fault. It's a defect if you open the box and the crack was there, or suddenly you looked at it and the breakage manifested before eyes without your intervention none whatsoever. Anything else, it's user error!

In my statements, I never implied any similarities between women and material objects, YOU did! I place women on a much higher pedestal than that! I'd also like to add that I've never had a problem accepting a refurbished phone over a new "only" and "only" if I know for a fact that it'll be a greater gain for me to trade in my original unit which I know has only been used by me. You on the other hand allowed your phone to get borked. Next you come here and post photos which clearly shows the breakage was caused from some type of stress or tension applied wrongly, which you are responsible for, and you wanna shift blame and yell defect! You defected the phone by not being careful as you should've. But hey there's no reason to be mad. You got you a refurbished Note 3 which more than likely most of its mileage are from the previous owner's bathroom usage, but I guess we'll never exactly know that, but hey as long as it works, right lol? ?

I've not had this problem. I rarely take it out of the case. Pretty much the only time would be to do a battery pull which is seldom. Case was a slip on type which is fairly tight.
No breaks on any parts so far and I've had the phone since Oct. I don't use the Stylus often either though.

Complain. They might offer some money back or a free case or something. Lay it on thick
Free case aint enough. Tell them 20% off, as device looks like used/refurbished. If they don't agree, return it and order again.
Device that is new, should look as new, not used.
Those pics are terrible but I don't need them, have a similar problem. My antenna lines aren't perfect, there are some micro gouges and what looks like wear. Same on my OnePlus 5 that I returned. Mine is minor and I'll live with it but yours might be worse, can't see.

I created a complaint so let's see what happens. I probably could live with it so I'd take some form of compensation over having to wait for a new unit. But it appears to be sold out...So replacing it might take a long time:crying:

You are acting ridiculous over something that has no effect whatsoever on the performance of the phone, will not be seen by anyone with a case on and will be indistinguishable from actual wear and tear after a few days of ownership. It's $500-600 phone not a million dollar piece of artwork.
I too have OCD about certain things but this is just absurd.
Edit: Now if there was a real defect like the screen was damaged, the camera lens cover was scratched or something along those lines I would totally understand where you are coming from. But for something as trivial as a smudge I think you are just making a mountain out of a molehill and missing out on time you could be enjoying an awesome performing device. If you look hard enough, you'll always be able to find something wrong with everything. Im sure OnePlus wont keep sending you replacement after replacement so you'll either have to live with the smudges you will find on every device or they will refund your money, in which case you just gave them a nice interest free loan for over a month.
I'm with the OP, the marks may be very small but he paid for a new device. Mine was unmarked, theirs should be too. It's weird.
