Hey guys I'm on AT&T and am looking at trading my s4.. So I'm just wondering if anybody has made the switch to the OGP from the s4 and what your thoughts were?
I had s3, upgraded to s4, then after 3 days I returned it for OGP PRO and was so happy that I made the right decision!!
Battery is awesome, super clean and super smooth lag free UI, much more customizable, display is so gorgeous, it comes with 32gb storage..too many to mention just look it yourself
Sent from my LG-E980 using xda premium
I have both and the OGP has more useful features like swipable tabs in phone and settings, remote in notification can be easily turned on and off without going into the remote app, setting can be either tab or list, better looking weather widgets, more accurate color reproduction. I had both phone's brightness turned all way up and the white on OGP is actually white while the S4 has a tannish tint to it, landscrape home launcher. Wider brightness setting. The dimmest on S4 is still too bright in totally dark room. New update has dual camera option to take pictures of subject and yourself.
S4 has too many useless eye candy apps like air gesture, smart scroll. they don't work half of the time and only on certain apps. S4 does have more support as far as modifying. OGP barely scratch the surface as far as modding goes.
Yeah basically I would do root to remove the bloat.. I can't stand the s4 without a tweaked touchwiz ROM... Im just thinking for the most part I'll be happier with the lg stock rooted than the s4... I had the note 2 though and it was a little too wide hence me going with the s4 and I think that's the biggest thing I'm hesitant about on the OGP is it may be a little too wide for one handed operation like the note 2
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
When I tried it in the store it didn't seem too bad but neither did the note 2 till I got it home and used it for a bit

The OG Pro is definitely easier to hold in hand than the Note.
I came from the S4 and the UI on LG is snappier stock.
For some reason, I'm debating on going back though lol
Sent from my LG-E980 using xda premium
Note 2 dimensions: 151.1 x 80.5 x 9.4 mm (5.95 x 3.17 x 0.37 in)
Optimus G Pro dimensions: 150.2 x 76.1 x 9.4 mm (5.91 x 3.00 x 0.37 in)
The G Pro is physically smaller, and despite the seemingly minor differences in size, it is much easier to hold and use.
I had the S4 which IS a great phone, but I LOVE my LG-OGP!
I filled the built in 16g on the S4, cant beat the 32g on the OGP plus my added 32SD.
The display reproduces much better, whites are white, details are more noticable, just all around looks better.
The physical layout of the buttons on the OGP are very well designed, they sit a little lower which is easier for one handed use, and you cant lose with the dedicated programmable button!
The UI also seems quicker!
Built in wireless charging.
Obviously more screen space, nice for everything like surfing and games.
I to came from the s4 after using it for three days. The OG Pro is by far a better phone all around. The quick remote is better than the s4 as well. Have not regretted my decision switching at all.

Just a couple more reasons..
The fact you can change the Quick button to a dedicated camera button, change icons, glowing led home button for notifications...WIN

Was it really worth it to change from S4 to G Pro? I mean, really really? I'm more camera-ccentric kind of user.
Yes i still have both s4 and gpro apart from eyecandy features if you wanna use pure camera for staright forward. Pictures then ogpro is ur investment crystal clear pics compared s4. S4 any mode u take pics lags saying processing. Ogp is just click click.. battery life i don't need to say all though s4 is a single handes use so is the ogp with little gymnastics. But gpro is a defnite winner. .. loving it

A co-worker of mine has the S4, and in my opinion his camera is no better then mine, he was kinda jealous of some of my camera features, like the live affects...

Hi, I have the Optimus G for 2 days, and its a verrrrryyyyy fast device. What are the Quadrant scores you guys get with Note 2. I still have 12 days that I can exchange.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to get a Optimus G. Just want to know opinions from you guy's.
Edit: After using the Optimus G for 5 days its going back. I decided to get the Note 2 can't use anything that is not Super AMOLED. Thanx to all of you for your replies.

Didnt screenshot it but 6200 ish is what I was hitting. I remember my low scores was graphics probably due to the huge screen lol.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Quadrant doesnt really matter. Our phones can handle anything you throw at them..
Questions you should ask yourself when trying to decide is:
Do you like the big screen of the Note II or prefer the LG Optimus G's screen?
Do you like the LG overlay or prefer touchwiz?
Will you be rooting and installing kernals? (Because if you are, im pretty sure the boot loader is locked down on the Optimus G so you wont be able to install kernals)
Do you like the build quality of Samsung or LG?
Do you need the removable battery?
^^^^ Answer these questions and you will most likely know your answer.
Hopefully I helped.
Battery life alone is worth it. I'm at 59% with 2 and a half hours screen on, LTE usage, 15 min voice calls, and 15 min navigation use. Google Now is running and I have sync running constantly. Been off the charger for 10.5 hours. Best battery life ever.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Well, here is my battery life on first full charge. Wifi was always on but only connected for about 6 hours (been gone all day). So LTE drain doesn't appear to be an issue as of yet. Lots of texts. 45 minutes streaming netflix movie over LTE While wife was shopping. Took about 300 pics and 15 minutes of video while at zoo. Lotbof internet and son playing Nova 3 for 35 minutes while driving to zoo. I am simply amazed!
Whatever your choice, don't think you will be disappointed if you do switch.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
I still fail to see why do people care about Quadrant so much. It's like, if a company made a phone which did absolutely nothing but get 15k Quadrant scores people would buy it just for it. The GN2 (and I'm sure the Optimus G too) runs buttery smooth with minimal to none lag. It can run everything you throw at it as good as the Optimus G can.
What you should really ask yourself is if you'd rather have a 5.5 size screen vs a 4.7 sized screen. Not everyone likes the 5.5 screen on the GN2.

I was in the same boat and decided on the note 2.
Mostly because it will have developer support and LG doesn't release software updates often (so I've heard).
IMO they are both great phones, I just like Samsung a bit better.
From everything I have heard...LG doesn't put out updates as often...and doesn't have as much support from developers as the Galaxy line does...No SD card support or S-pen with the LG...but has a better screen...but no practical option for multi-veiw..
For my choice...the advantages of what I am going to do with it...the larger screen...the s-pen...the extra storage...makes the Note II the winner..
Mac
I have both phones. The Optimus G is on temporary loan but I've had it for a week or so. It's got a nice heft and I love the rounded edge, but it's an LG. I have worked with their other smartphones in the past and there are always strange little quirks and issues. Not to mention they're horrible track record for releasing updates. This Optimus G has already had problems with the camera not initializing and having to reboot to get it to work. Honestly you wouldn't go wrong with either phone. But I do like the note 2 more. It has a great display, awesome specs, it's just a good all around phone and I suspect there will be a very healthy active developer community. Samsung has already shown that they are able to release updates faster than they have in the past. Maybe it is because cyabogen works for them now. If you really wanted, I could post side by side pictures and benchmarks and stuff like that. What I also like about the Samsung is that it has some added compatibility with other Samsung phones, including the very popular Galaxy S3.

+1. But I still went for the Note II. I handled both at the AT&T store yesterday and am glad I picked up Note II.
I bet the the Note II will have more user development support like roms, kernels, etc than the Optimus G
If the OP is worried with benchmarks, check the sun spider benchmark - the note 2 destroyed the Optimus G (note 2 scores between 1025 and 950 - lower=better) and beats the Optimus G in antutu and several others (look for Engadget review of Nexus 4- shows all major benchmarks between Nexus 4,Optimus G, and Note 2 - Note 2 wins 4 out of 6).
Note 2 has spen (KILLER feature when you use it, so dang useful), excellent battery life, bigger screen (Web page viewing is a pleasure), expandable storage (except for ATT version) , smart stay/rotation features... Such a huge list. Note 2 all the way.
I'm scoring between 6300 and 6500 in quadrant, but I don't give any credence to this score- I find sun spider and antutu more telling of a device's day-to-day performance.

It sounds more like you've already made your decison, since you are asking about if you should Get a certain phone on a forum with an obvious bias (nearly everyone on this GN2 forum has bought it already, so you will pretty much just hear people say get the GN2, because they made that decision, and will probably extend their opinion to you, to justify their own purchase.
TLDR: Don't expect an objective opinion )
That being said. If you like the bigger screen, you will absolutely not be disappointed with the Note 2. I'm sure the Optimus G is pretty good (haven't ever touched one though!) as well, but I can say for sure the Note 2 is one hell of a phone.:victory:

That's not always true. I have an Optimus G, SGS3,Gnote 2, HTC OneX, and many others. The fact that I have all these phones but choose the Gnote 2 as my daily device speaks highly of this phone. I'm not giving my opinion from bias, I'm giving it from having access to most top end phones and when compared side-by-side, the Note 2 is simply superior.

I think this has to do with the icon being lower resolution. This is the fault of two things. 1 is that the Galaxy Note 2 is high resolution. 2 is that many graphics within apps, including icons get enlarged by the 5.5" screen. With most tablets there is a different icon graphic that is higher resolution than the "Smartphone" icon graphic. You are seeing the "Smartphone" icon graphic on this 5.5" screen. This icon graphic was designed to be for smaller screens. Hopefully this will get better as developers design "Smartphone" icon graphics for larger screens.
This effect is like seeing lower resolution video and graphics on your very high resolution HD very larger screen TV or monitor. This is the downside of using larger, higher resolution screens. And this is only going to get worse on lower resolution videos and graphics with higher resolution larger screens.

One of the things you can do is use a different Home Launcher. The choose to have more columns and rows on your desktop and app drawer. This will smaller the size of the icons to the point that they become less pixelated. Some Launchers will allow you to resize the icons too. Either way resizing the icons to smaller size should solve the pixelated icons problem.
I personally like the adding more columns and rows because that utilizes the screen real-estate to with more icons.
Some favorite Home Launchers are:
Nova Launcher Prime
ADWLauncher EX
Apex Launcher Pro
Go Launcher EX
Nova Launcher (free version)
Apex Launcher (free version)

Ok to the reply that says I dont have a note please check where the post is being post from it says right below what im using..to others thanks for your opinions I guess it is the note thats too much of a high resolution for some apps . I know the s3 has higher pixels and a smaller screen so everything looks crispier thats what I meant. Hate to admit but just being picky on little details. Another question does anyone have issues with theyre micro usb charger mine falls of the phone on its own weird.

I wouldn't say it's terrible, but the quality is noticeable if comparing.
The note2 has the same res as the S3, both 720x1280, so lower ppi (267) bc of the larger screen.
Coming from the GNexus (316) ppi, I def notice it. Same next to a nexus4 (320ppi) with 768 x1280. For comparison, the iphone5 and 4S are 326ppi. The droid dna is a ridic 441ppi (1920x1080).. But haven't seen it in person yet.

Yeah, I won't be ditching my OG for it, but it's nice to see LG have three top tier phones in a row (counting the N4), and a proper competitor for the Note II. I just hope some of the improved software, in particular the camera firmware, makes it to our OGs one way or another.

Galaxy Note 2 double* (sorry, I know it was probably just a typo)
If you compare the two devices, they look almost 100% identical.
Comparison shot:
Link because it's a big image
When my HTC One X(L) broke, I originally went with the Note 2. However the size and quality of the screen (it looked yellow) convinced me to turn it in for the smaller Optimus G (and also cheaper!). I don't think I could go bigger than the size of Optimus G comfortably.

Agreed, I'm at the limit of what I can do one-handed with this phone. It's actually still a hair too big for my mitts. It isn't comfortable for big stretches and I'm in danger of dropping it when making far corner reaches with one hand. I could never really use anything any bigger, practically, and in a crowd without fear of dropping it sure to the slightest bump.

If you like the battery life on the note 2 then don't do it, I have read mixed reviews about the htc one that I made my decision not to get it.

I was thinking about the battery life.. ugh but I love the htc one's build quality soo much!!! the note 2 with the same materials as htc one...OMG..it be a dream come true!!
It's a matter of personal taste...if you ever dreamed of an iphone-like device running Android, you're not bothered by the fact that the phone is sealed, doesn't have microSD slot and removable battery and 32GB of local storage are enough, HTC One seems to be the obvious choice. If you enjoy taking your phone apart or fixing it yourself for cheap if it gets damaged, like to have several days worth of battery life as an option and have a considerably sized media library you want to have with you then Note 2 is the way to go.
Galaxy S4 will be missing the support for smart stylus as well, some people welcome the functionality of it and I can't really think of any other phones on the market that would come close to the functionality and precision of the Galaxy Note 2 Stylus. As a galaxy note 2 owner I'm not sold on switching to the HTC One mainly because the most important new features it brings (1080p screen, improved camera, infra red sensor) are not enough to convince me.
Also HTC One is using the Adreno 320 GPU which although really fast right now will become dated sooner than most would believe, after Tegra 4 and the new generation mobile GPUs will hit the market a few months later. I know that not only I will skip the HTC One but also the Galaxy S4...I want to see what the Galaxy Note 3 brings new to the table, I'm pretty damn satisfied with my Note 2 so far.

id take the international galaxy s iv for the processor and gpu and all the features, the only thing the htc one has over the s4 is the front and back aluminum THE SIDES ARE PLASTIC LOL they couldve used glass or something but no they went with cheap looking plastic that looks like it will turn yellow in a few months
Isnt the htc one having major quality control issues right now?

There is a sticky for this
I have a S5 and I will not keep both. It is early yet but after a few days I think the S5 is the goner.
I just cannot put the G3 down. Is is very comfortable to use, the feel is great, and the weight is neglible as far as I'm concerned. It hasn't given me any problems yet, I have enjoyed everything I have tried so far, the display is very good, and I'm happy with the battery life.
Well done LG, bravo!
M8. Definitely keeping the G3.
Galaxy S3. Definitely keeping the G3, it's an upgrade in every way.
G2,loving the g3 and keeping it.

N5. If anyway to install custom ROM's and kernels doesn't come out in 30 days I am selling G3.

I sold my n5 to buy the g3, hoping it would help me stop wanting to keep flashing roms every couple days. I loved doing it but it got out of control. But now I'm just hoping for a stock Rom that gets rid of the lag I experience typing and using the recents.

EVO 4G LTE. I'm loving the G3, first non-HTC smartphone I've ever owned. I still like my EVO and I'll keep it for a while unless I get a good offer to sell it, but I definitely wouldn't have any other phone on the market right now.
Came from an S5. Like everything about the G3 more EXCEPT for the camera.

LG g pro. Already sold the g pro. Same 5.5 inch screen size in a smaller package. No regrets.

What makes it better? Looking at a lot of pictures from both on phonearena, I felt the G3 was better overall. It seemed to be just as good at most things, but then was much better at night and a little bit better in HDR. But they also don't have much motion in the pictures, etc.
I had a GS5. I am on AT&T but had a T-Mobile version rooted and custom rom. I couple of things for me are making me lean towards the G3. The screen obviously. Second is the UI. With a custom rom you still couldn't get the AOSP feel to the GS5. You are already closer with a stock G3 UI. With Nova and a few tweaks you are very close. Finally I am thinking we will get the bootloader unlocked and be in heaven. Still though, its a close call. The amoled on the S5 was a better screen overall and with the capacitive buttons the size advantage is not that great. The S5 didn't have the humming issue with headphones and AUX cables. Overall though I think the G3 will stay.
Coming from a m7 and I'm about 99% I'm keeping my g3. 11 more days to decide if I can live with a locked boot loader
Nexus 5 here. Almost definitely keeping the G3. Better screen and better battery life are key. LG's it's definitely the best skin I've encountered.
Plus, my Nexus 5 just feels so tiny now.

I've been using a Samsung Note 3 and before the LG G Pro. I'm keeping my LG G3 phone. Will not buy another Samsung phone again
