I have a S5 and I will not keep both. It is early yet but after a few days I think the S5 is the goner.
I just cannot put the G3 down. Is is very comfortable to use, the feel is great, and the weight is neglible as far as I'm concerned. It hasn't given me any problems yet, I have enjoyed everything I have tried so far, the display is very good, and I'm happy with the battery life.
Well done LG, bravo!
M8. Definitely keeping the G3.
Galaxy S3. Definitely keeping the G3, it's an upgrade in every way.

I sold my n5 to buy the g3, hoping it would help me stop wanting to keep flashing roms every couple days. I loved doing it but it got out of control. But now I'm just hoping for a stock Rom that gets rid of the lag I experience typing and using the recents.

EVO 4G LTE. I'm loving the G3, first non-HTC smartphone I've ever owned. I still like my EVO and I'll keep it for a while unless I get a good offer to sell it, but I definitely wouldn't have any other phone on the market right now.

What makes it better? Looking at a lot of pictures from both on phonearena, I felt the G3 was better overall. It seemed to be just as good at most things, but then was much better at night and a little bit better in HDR. But they also don't have much motion in the pictures, etc.
I had a GS5. I am on AT&T but had a T-Mobile version rooted and custom rom. I couple of things for me are making me lean towards the G3. The screen obviously. Second is the UI. With a custom rom you still couldn't get the AOSP feel to the GS5. You are already closer with a stock G3 UI. With Nova and a few tweaks you are very close. Finally I am thinking we will get the bootloader unlocked and be in heaven. Still though, its a close call. The amoled on the S5 was a better screen overall and with the capacitive buttons the size advantage is not that great. The S5 didn't have the humming issue with headphones and AUX cables. Overall though I think the G3 will stay.
Coming from a m7 and I'm about 99% I'm keeping my g3. 11 more days to decide if I can live with a locked boot loader
Nexus 5 here. Almost definitely keeping the G3. Better screen and better battery life are key. LG's it's definitely the best skin I've encountered.

Hi, I have the Optimus G for 2 days, and its a verrrrryyyyy fast device. What are the Quadrant scores you guys get with Note 2. I still have 12 days that I can exchange.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to get a Optimus G. Just want to know opinions from you guy's.
Edit: After using the Optimus G for 5 days its going back. I decided to get the Note 2 can't use anything that is not Super AMOLED. Thanx to all of you for your replies.

Didnt screenshot it but 6200 ish is what I was hitting. I remember my low scores was graphics probably due to the huge screen lol.

Quadrant doesnt really matter. Our phones can handle anything you throw at them..
Questions you should ask yourself when trying to decide is:
Do you like the big screen of the Note II or prefer the LG Optimus G's screen?
Do you like the LG overlay or prefer touchwiz?
Will you be rooting and installing kernals? (Because if you are, im pretty sure the boot loader is locked down on the Optimus G so you wont be able to install kernals)
Do you like the build quality of Samsung or LG?
Do you need the removable battery?
^^^^ Answer these questions and you will most likely know your answer.
Hopefully I helped.
Battery life alone is worth it. I'm at 59% with 2 and a half hours screen on, LTE usage, 15 min voice calls, and 15 min navigation use. Google Now is running and I have sync running constantly. Been off the charger for 10.5 hours. Best battery life ever.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Well, here is my battery life on first full charge. Wifi was always on but only connected for about 6 hours (been gone all day). So LTE drain doesn't appear to be an issue as of yet. Lots of texts. 45 minutes streaming netflix movie over LTE While wife was shopping. Took about 300 pics and 15 minutes of video while at zoo. Lotbof internet and son playing Nova 3 for 35 minutes while driving to zoo. I am simply amazed!
Whatever your choice, don't think you will be disappointed if you do switch.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
I still fail to see why do people care about Quadrant so much. It's like, if a company made a phone which did absolutely nothing but get 15k Quadrant scores people would buy it just for it. The GN2 (and I'm sure the Optimus G too) runs buttery smooth with minimal to none lag. It can run everything you throw at it as good as the Optimus G can.
What you should really ask yourself is if you'd rather have a 5.5 size screen vs a 4.7 sized screen. Not everyone likes the 5.5 screen on the GN2.

I was in the same boat and decided on the note 2.
Mostly because it will have developer support and LG doesn't release software updates often (so I've heard).
IMO they are both great phones, I just like Samsung a bit better.
From everything I have heard...LG doesn't put out updates as often...and doesn't have as much support from developers as the Galaxy line does...No SD card support or S-pen with the LG...but has a better screen...but no practical option for multi-veiw..
For my choice...the advantages of what I am going to do with it...the larger screen...the s-pen...the extra storage...makes the Note II the winner..
Mac
I have both phones. The Optimus G is on temporary loan but I've had it for a week or so. It's got a nice heft and I love the rounded edge, but it's an LG. I have worked with their other smartphones in the past and there are always strange little quirks and issues. Not to mention they're horrible track record for releasing updates. This Optimus G has already had problems with the camera not initializing and having to reboot to get it to work. Honestly you wouldn't go wrong with either phone. But I do like the note 2 more. It has a great display, awesome specs, it's just a good all around phone and I suspect there will be a very healthy active developer community. Samsung has already shown that they are able to release updates faster than they have in the past. Maybe it is because cyabogen works for them now. If you really wanted, I could post side by side pictures and benchmarks and stuff like that. What I also like about the Samsung is that it has some added compatibility with other Samsung phones, including the very popular Galaxy S3.

+1. But I still went for the Note II. I handled both at the AT&T store yesterday and am glad I picked up Note II.
I bet the the Note II will have more user development support like roms, kernels, etc than the Optimus G
If the OP is worried with benchmarks, check the sun spider benchmark - the note 2 destroyed the Optimus G (note 2 scores between 1025 and 950 - lower=better) and beats the Optimus G in antutu and several others (look for Engadget review of Nexus 4- shows all major benchmarks between Nexus 4,Optimus G, and Note 2 - Note 2 wins 4 out of 6).
Note 2 has spen (KILLER feature when you use it, so dang useful), excellent battery life, bigger screen (Web page viewing is a pleasure), expandable storage (except for ATT version) , smart stay/rotation features... Such a huge list. Note 2 all the way.
I'm scoring between 6300 and 6500 in quadrant, but I don't give any credence to this score- I find sun spider and antutu more telling of a device's day-to-day performance.

It sounds more like you've already made your decison, since you are asking about if you should Get a certain phone on a forum with an obvious bias (nearly everyone on this GN2 forum has bought it already, so you will pretty much just hear people say get the GN2, because they made that decision, and will probably extend their opinion to you, to justify their own purchase.
TLDR: Don't expect an objective opinion )
That being said. If you like the bigger screen, you will absolutely not be disappointed with the Note 2. I'm sure the Optimus G is pretty good (haven't ever touched one though!) as well, but I can say for sure the Note 2 is one hell of a phone.:victory:

That's not always true. I have an Optimus G, SGS3,Gnote 2, HTC OneX, and many others. The fact that I have all these phones but choose the Gnote 2 as my daily device speaks highly of this phone. I'm not giving my opinion from bias, I'm giving it from having access to most top end phones and when compared side-by-side, the Note 2 is simply superior.

Do you intend to use the spen? If yes, get the note 2 or wait for the note 3.
I do IT work and always used to write notes in a notebook or quick notes on post-its. When I needed the info later I would have to waste time thumbing through a notebook or looking for a sticky note that I'd lost. Now, everything gets stored on my note and is readily available later.

Mods are probably too busy to delete a single post that really has not broken any rules. When I decide on two phones I .... Read. I compare the specs side by side. Go to the store and play with both. Then I think about how I use the phone and then make the decision based on what I read and how the phone worked in person.

If price is not an issue, then go with the optimus. It has a slightly faster CPU, higher resolution screen, and a better camera
One me variable. If you like to ROM and play with your phone avoid lg. They rarely have much dev support si in sure the Optimus g will be the same

I have had nothing but terrible luck with LG.
For me, I would stick with what has worked and had awesome experience with Samsung products.
I know the Nexus 4 has sold well, but is vanilla.
I guess the best bet is to head to store and try each one out.

correction, if you are a flashaholic then no, but cm10.1 is in the works and other custom roms will follow
Yes there will be stable cm some time.
I came from a HTC One. I loved the One but I am a phone whore. Honestly I miss blinkfeed but that's about it. The One is a great phone but I found the screen size too small. I had a note 2 and love it but it was hard to hold and the screen was substandard. The screen on the ogp is gorgeous and their UI is fast and extremely customizable out of the box. And though it is a 5.5 inch screen, the design of the phone and the thinner bezel make it much easier to hold. Battery life was iffy at first but after a few days it hunkered down and I can easily get through a day with 3+ hours of screen time.
I don't think I'll ever buy another Samsung phone again but we will see about HTC. The One Maxx has my interest peaked. But overall the ogp is the best phone nobody knows about.

I am tempted but I probably stay at with the LG G Pro because removable battery is nice to have. And also the removable memory. I know for some it isn't a big deal but it is a pain when the battery in a phone goes bad and you have to swap out the whole device rather then just the battery. Happened to me on 2 devices with non removable battery. So I told myself not to switch back to a non removable battery device. But the G2 is a very good device.

The G2 is a sweet phone but I love the bigger screen of the G Pro. I already have a 5" s4 active and started using that as my main until we were blessed with all these new ROMs (thanks to our amazing devs! ) Now its hard to go back to screen size like that. For me at least. I really want the G Pad when it comes out though I miss having an actual tablet. My next phone will probably be a Note 3 though maybe a few weeks after launch. I love my little s4 so it makes me want the giant version lol.
Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk 4
I'm not sure why anybody would want to switch from a G Pro to a G2, or any of the upcoming flagship phones for that matter. The only real competitor to the G Pro is the Note 3, and unless you're made of money, the G Pro is a considerably better bang for the buck. The rest...do you seriously need that Snapdragon 800? That's about the only advantage they all have, and you're actually downgrading on the screen size. So many of them won't have removable batteries or SD card slots as well (Xperia Z1, Nexus 5, G2, Xiaomi MI3). I'm actually amazed LG took out the removable battery and SD slot from the G2, given the G Pro had both, and the G2 does not sport some kind of premium unibody design like the Optimus G/Nexus 4 had. The Xperia Z1 has a better camera by pixel count, but again do you really need that?
Of course if you want a physically smaller phone...than by all means, trade in. I feel set for a while myself, especially once development ramps up just a bit more.
Not for me!
I'm keeping my G Pro. I'm not gonna downgrade my screen size from 5.5" to 5.2".
In fact, G2 has only 5" of actual viewable screen due to the fcuking On-Screen Button on pages and in most apps!
That's a massive 0.5" in reduction.
...and, do you wanna play games with the fcuking On-Screen Button stays on the side likes this! That sucks!
Not sure what to do. Should I jump to G3 or hold out for nexus 6. I have a nexus 5 and love it. I have been going cross-eyed from over thinking this and would love some opinions. Any and all feedback is appreciated.

I am unimpressed with the G3, and plan on shipping it back tomorrow. The "amazing" screen looks like garbage next to my iphone 5s. I'm holding out for the Nexus 6.

BTW The iPhone 5s has a 640p screen I.e. not even standard HD which is 720p and the S5 is 1080p so I hope it looks better. I never understood iphones 'retina' anyway. To me it's more of a marketing ploy but I digress.
The N6 isn't really confirmed or even leaked so we may not know until right before a possible release. I would stick with the G3 and or read through the topic I linked above.

I say get a g3 its a sick phone and if you don't like it just sell it and buy a nexus 6 when it comes out.

If you are a nexus fanboy I'd say wait because the nexus 6 could very possibly be the very last nexus phone.
Get the g3. I have the n4 and had the n3. Wasn't too interested in the n5. One thing I am certain is that the n6 will NOT have a sdcard

Nexus phone never worked on Verizon, i.e., they are all GSM only, right? Otherwise I'll consider it.

Why not both? Buy and enjoy the G3 now and sell it when the N6 comes out. You can probably sell it for near the price of the N6.

I've had almost all the NEXUS phones, the last two really didn't impress me at all. Too much compromise in the software for the "pure Android" experience. It might have been cool a couple years ago when manufacturers would bloat the phone down like crazy, well... Samsung's TouchJizz is still a major offender but other manufactures have really slimmed and optimized their UI's while adding a ton of useful features. It's now to the point where I feel pure Android is lacking way too much. Also I never had a good camera experience nor good battery life with ANY of my Nexus phones. It also seems like Nexus devices uses lower end components to meet their price quota, lower quality LCD panels, lower binned CPU/GPU's that thermal throttle like crazy, mediocre camera sensors, small batteries ect...
No more Nexus phones for me, unless they release something really extraordinary but I really doubt it with their budget price cap. After owning both the Nexus 5 and G2, it was incredible how much better the G2 was in everything from software, battery life, screen quality and camera. The G2 just seemed way better engineered and thought out, sure it was "almost" twice as much off contract as the Nexus 5 but this really was a case of "you get what you pay for".
I came from the Nexus 5 to G3 couldn't be more happy! Had enough of terrible battery life from the Nexus 5, will not be getting a Nexus phone ever again.

Agreed, I was also pretty unimpressed by both the Nexus 4 and 5. So the OP should just go ahead and get the G3 now. Then he can wait for the N6 release, and when everyone and their mother has reviewed it to death and found any faults, he can then proceed by selling the G3 and buying the N6 if he think it's worth it That's my plan anyway.
i have the n5 as well..it wont last me not even 2 hours...just using instagram snapchat..texts and facebook..sometimes browsing..ive had the n4 before and i dont think i will get the n6..as far as i heard..it is going to have a 5.2 screen..no sd..no ir blaster..the battery will suck..non removable battery it will probably not top out the g3

Iv seen a Nexus 6 on Craigslist for $600. Im thinking, my G3 is everything that is. Im running Lollipop fast and stable. The display isnt as big but 6" is too much for pocket
Resolution and pixel count are on par. Ram and Rom is on par, plus I can add micro sd and change battery. I love my G3 and Im on freakin Verizon. G3 is the best phone out right now....
