Hello,
I have a samsung galaxy gio in which I entered the lock pattern incorrectly and it is now blocked.
It asks me for my google account details, but it keeps saying that they are incorrect despite the contrary.
I have searched in lots of websites and try to input null as a password or omitting the @gmail.com as suggested but none of that works.
Now, I could boot up recovery mode and reset to factory but my problem is that my volume down button does not work. So, despite being able to enter recovery mode (power+home), I can't select the reset option because volume down serves as a down key.
Also, I cannot enter fastboot mode to try and install anything with odin or similar, as I need the volume down key.
I also thought of running adb commands from the terminal but the phone needs to have usb debugging enabled, which is not and I am locked out and unable to activate it.
I ran out of ideas, dos anyone have a suggestion?
just use the volume up button and go through all other options to the factory reset

i got one htc desire which is pattern locked and customer dont have email id and password.
so i cannot bypass it with adb command as debug mode is off and phone have official firmware. while i try adb commands in recovery mode it shows error : device offline .
adb command in fastboot mode shows error: device not found. i tried all other tricks like calling to phone and trying to get into phone but not success. what option i have left? as data is very very important.
Thanks
If the your data is on the sd card first take it out so that it doesnt get wiped. Then turn the phone off, and boot into the bootloader using volume down and power. Use the volume keys to scroll down and highlight CLEAR STORAGE, then press the power button to select it.
This should wipe the phone and reset it to factory conditions.

Thanks for the reply. i need data thats why i am asking here. data is on phone memory.
Okay, so my problem is simple, I can't boot into recovery at all. Every time I try to boot up recovery, my phone shows the little Android dude and just gives me the option to "Start". Nothing else, even when I press the volume key down or up, does nothing! My phone is also looping on the CyanogenMod screen so I can't even go into the phone itself.
Also, when I try to use unroot my phone, it says "ADB can not be found", I install the USB driver manually, and it still says the same exact thing. I'm pretty much all out of options, hopefully someone here can help. I'll be very grateful.

More info please.
What was the last ROM/kernel you flashed.?
What recovery are you using?
Did this just started after installing a ROM, kernel or mod..?
More details please...

What buttons are you pressing to get into your bootloader? I assume you are holding the volume "down" button and pressing the power key. This gets you into Odin Mode and only allows you to boot the phone normally by pressing the power key for "start." You need to hold down the volume "up" AND "down" keys at the same time to enter the correct bootloader with the recovery mode option. Once you are booted into recovery just restore your phone to a nandroid backup you have created that you know works.
Hello,
I cracked the digitizer on my Sprint Note 2 SPH L-900. Running 4.1.* stock/rooted last I recall. I avoided all OTA's and had it for about a year. I am now trying to wipe the phone without being able to see or use the touch screen. 99% sure I had "USB debugging" enabled and "Install from unknown sources" checked. Been Googling for a while with no avail. Is this possible to do?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Best,
JC

You can probably "blindly" boot into download mode and by doing the following:
1. Remove battery
2. Insert battery
3. Press and hold power the home button and volume down for 1 minute
4. Release buttons and press volume up.
Your phone should be in download mode
5. Connect phone to PC.
6. Open odin

You can also factory reset from kies which I'm not sure how to do off the top of my head

Thanks. I actually realized I had it sync'd to my works MS exchange server so I simply wiped it from my online console.
You can also use adb commands. You might need root. From adb shell type "wipe data".

Thanks ECS! I did have root.
I have in my possession a Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 inch, that will not go into recovery or download mode. When you hold the power and volume up button it starts regularly, despite the fact I have several other Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 inch tablets that do go into recovery. I cannot get it to go into download mode either, so I'm stuck as what to do. I have confirmed that the volume keys do indeed work, I can change the volume of music with them after the system has started.
My goal is to do a factory reset on the device, is there some trick I can do via USB to put it into recovery? Or maybe do a reset over USB?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Yeah it can via adb shell and you know you should hkld home button top?

concerning button combination to recovery/download modes
apparently the home key is not needed on p5210 at least, only power &vol+ =recovery
power & vol- = download mode
edit; tab 3 7.0 does need 3 button combo
check root by opening terminal and typing su
if return with [userid]# then you have root
type whoami , should return uid0 or command: not found , means no busybox
at root prompt # , type reboot, or reboot recovery
okay so [edit] my thought is your home button may be boned or sticky/dirty
a side question, i need to know commands for following if they exist
i need to know what the BOOTLOADER outputs by way of log if there is one
i need another way to get mmcblk names as the cat /proc/dev device by name
isn't present on my tab.
i do apologize for unrelated questions, but couldn't see starting new thread for that
i don't mind pm's so please feel free. thanks for reading
:good:
For download mode
Keep pressing
Power + volume down + home key until it vibrates
And for recovery
Power + volume up + home key until it vibrates

My 5T decided to power off in my pocket this eve. Tried to reboot and now it won't accept my pin. Tried to boot into recovery mode (power & volume down) but only comes up with keyboard, not menu. Tried rebooting using power & volume up to get recovery mode but again comes up with keyboard. Option of forgot password gives factory reset which i want to avoid if possible. Any help please? Thank you
There are multiple ways to bypass a screen lock.
First one is using an adb command, just search on Google "how to bypass android phone with adb" and you'll find it, but for this your phone needs to have USB debugging enabled but it's already locked so it may be useless. This method will work without losing your data.
Other is using a specialised software like "DroidKit" or "DrFone by wondershare", this method will be frustrating because the software may push you to buy a subscription or something but it'll alsol work without losing your data.
