Twrp to flash official update? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Can I use TWRP to flash the official update zip file? I mean my note 2 is rooted with twrp recovery. Now the official upgrade is downloaded to /cache folder but TWRP is kicked off instead official recovery to flash the zip file. Can I just use TWRP to flash that official update zip file?

Don't really know.. All it says is that "update has been downloaded, do you want to install". It is about 24MB zip file.

If you're on MC2 rom check the modem. There's now a full mc2 restore/nodata for Odin... including modem!

4.1 OTA or Install from zip - ?

I have 4.0.4 stock rom with CWM and unlocked Bootloader. Now, when I update to 4.1 with OTA i get error (i think it's because of CWM)
My question is : is there some stock rom from google that is same like from OTA but that can be install from CWM recovery?
And link if it's now problem. I would like stock rom
Tnx
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Yes, it is failing to install because you have CWM flashed. If you want to accept the OTA, you have to flash the stock recovery for 4.0.4 back.
You can follow any basic Fastboot guide for flashing and just follow the line to flash the recovery. Here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
If you would prefer to keep CWM and just flash the update, there are update.zip files available, the file will differ whether you're on yakju or takju.
I have update to 4.1.1 - amazing! Tnx for help

No problem. Glad it worked.

what recovery do i use

I'm on a 4.1 .2 ROM and I'm using rom manager recovery what recovery do I need if I want to use 4.2 and what if I already have a recovery can I use two at the same time.or do I need to delet rom manager.
I have read that the newest ClockworkMod Recovery will not create the nested "/0" folders.
I recommend using the latest TWRP though.
You can update ClockworkMod from ROM Manager or you can install TWRP from the GooManager app.

Or you could also hold the link and "save as." It might show up as a .bin, rename it to the .IMG and you should be good.

Hi all, I've been looking for CWM Touch Recovery 6.0.3.0 for my Rogers i747m (d2can) everywhere.
I've only been able to find the MetroPCS or the AT&T version (d2att). Since the AT&T version is the same as the Telus, Rogers, Bell, Fido, Koodo, Sasktel, MTS version. I removed the d2att check from the zip file script during recovery installation.
Just flash from recovery on your i747m device and away you go. Enjoy
Zip File for CWM Touch
Thank you for keeping this thread updated!
I just installed the touch one on my S3 today with ADB. I don't see much change from version to version.
When I was more active in the S2 Skyrocket forums someone would always post a zip of the regular veresion and Touch version for easy flashing. It'd be nice to have a version for those who don't want to use ADB. I believe you need linux to convert the .IMG to a .ZIP. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Is TWRP better than CWM or just a preference thing?
In my experience I think TWRP is a little faster but I like the Rom Manager CWM experience a little bit more than GooManager TWRP experience.

I have tried the "tar file from img" feature that is included in the UNIFIED TOOLKIT, but the tar file which it created was not recognized by ODIN.

Before converting did you rename the img file so it would be accepted by odin?
Like boot.img, cache.img or in your case recovery.img

Yup, it's not there.
Problem with recovery being able to mount the partitions.
It won't mount anything, data, system, cache, internal or external sdcards
I've read post from a handful of people who, like myself, have gotten their phone very recently. All experiencing the same problem.
I've gotten root by flashing a stock rom thru ODIN with it already installed but I'm dying for my Vanilla Android, touchwiz is making me sick :crying:

There are some pre-rooted stock roms you can flash in Odin but that doesn't fix recovery. So if you can live with Touchwiz I'd check those out.

I am also having a problem with all CWM versions I've tried on my two 3-day old Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 phones. It doesn't matter which recovery (or version) I flash, nothing mounts so you cannot see the internal or external SD, cannot flash anything, cannot wipe anything, etc. This seems to be a problem with very new S3's with all custom recoveries.

Do I need to restore to stock to go back to touchwiz?

I am trying to go from cm10.1 to a 4.3 ge ROM and for some reason I can flash and get it to work buf once i reboot the phone i get stuck in a boot loop. Ive tried a few different 4.3 roms and always get the the same boot loop after rebooting.
Am i doing something wrong? (wipe/factory reset and format. Then flash rom)

Yeah. Just use a flashable CWM.zip rather than a Odin flashable .tar.
Also, it's TWRP 2.6 that is casuing problems. TWRP 2.5.2 works fine. You can find the download for that in the TWRP thread in the DEV section. You'll have to search the thread, but it's in there.

Yes, just get the zipped version of CWM, and it should be installable thru TWRP. Flash it the same as anything else.
I cannot find either the cwm zip or twrp 2.5.2

The flashable CWM zip is buried in the CWM development thread, not in the OP. As far as TWRP 2.5.0.2, the Odin flashable tar and .img is here.
